701  Economy / Speculation / Re: A 8th golden cross of Bitcoin before the halving on: November 10, 2023, 08:38:54 AM
Hopefully it signals the start of a violent upwards surge but I feel like I’ve seen these golden crosses in the past which fail to materialise into a big pump. Maybe it’s just coincidental when the price does soar. I mean we are at the very beginning of a bull run now so the price is due to start going up soon any way. Regardless, I hope we start to moon soon.
The golden cross is a very well known indicator which tell us that a market is about to experiment some fast growth, however the golden cross works better on markets that move more slowly due to the very high number of periods needed to calculate it, in a market like this one once the golden cross appears a great deal of the positive movement has already happened, and you would have missed it if you waited for such a confirmation pattern.

Well we did a violent upwards trend already, at almost $38k. So that is a big surge in the last 48 hours or so. And Since the OP has open this thread, the prices also goes up very fast. So it might have validated the golden cross but if I'm not mistaken, it will still goes on another run so most likely the price target is $40k for this November.

So let's see, even though the halving is still very far, it seems that the investors are preparing for it as early as this month.

I'm still wanted to see my speculations of around $40k-$50k at the end of the year.
702  Economy / Economics / Re: AI will put an end to work, says Elon Musk on: November 10, 2023, 01:19:17 AM
I wouldn't say ppl are exaggerating when there's a concern about how AI's going to make impressions in our lives. If we don't provide robots any data it won't be AI. If we program machines with AI to allow them to become sentient we don't know where it's going to take humanity.

I agree, people are over-exaggerating the power of AI when its power depends entirely on us humans. If we don't provide it with data, it will just be a pile of useless scrap metal, so there will be no way AI or robots can replace humans in all fields or even control the human world.

AI is created to help and bring convenience to humans, it is not created to replace or destroy humanity, so we should stop making exaggerated assumptions about AI.

Yeah, it's not an exaggeration, and it seems that AI will be the newest technology, the future for mankind. And with that, Elon being a visionary, obviously has a lot of things in his mind with regards to his AI technology.

And he could be right now, there could be jobs that might replace by AI. But I doubt though that people will be somewhat of no use to the society. We will still be the dominant species despite the coming of AI. And we should look at how this technology can bring to us and make everything better.
703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: November 09, 2023, 11:44:56 PM
I’m staying away from the bets today. The Bucks haven’t been playing great and the odds aren’t there to bet either side. Sometimes the best way to win is to not play. With Dame shooting terribly and Giannis seemingly having his issues with the change of PG I don’t feel confident they can win every night regardless of their opponent.

And worst, they are going to travel to the Pacers home court, so they will be at a disadvantage as the Pacers is also having a good record, they are almost similar, so I will stay away from them.

And it's a interesting game, Hawks vs the Magic, as they will be played in Mexico City and this is a potential expansion city so we will see.

And with that I will have the Hawks at -1.5 at @1.72 as well, same with @danherbias07.
704  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Swedish Bitcoiners targeted by armed criminals on: November 09, 2023, 12:26:54 PM
We are warning people to be careful of KYC but many did not answer, see armed criminals targeting bitcoin and other crypto users in Sweden.

Quote
Criminals in Sweden are specifically targeting prominent local Bitcoin figures, which appears to be the result of the ease of access to personal information and residential addresses in the country.

Quote
Reports from Swedish media outlets LT and Aftonbladet have linked separate robberies in Rönninge and Södertälje that appear to have occurred under the same modus operandi. Victims were tied up and physically abused to steal physical and virtual Bitcoin
BTC

I will not say more than this, read more from https://cointelegraph.com/news/swedish-bitcoiners-targeted-by-armed-criminals

If you like, continue to submit your KYC or giving it out. Just know that this will begin from somewhere and you may be the next target.

You need privacy and anonymity.

If you're a bitcoiner, then it's time to value your privacy, i believe that this should be one of the tiring challenges we had with the use of fiat before thinking of an alternative,

Now that we have the opportunity to use bitcoin, then we should make every possible efforts to get the best from the varieties of opportunities bitcoin has brought to served us with, using a centralized exchange is nothing than using a commercial bank to safe your cryptocurrency, this means all your information is with them and they can use any against us, but if we are very intended to go on with privacy.

It's something easy to achieve because hackers wouldn't have access to be able to attack us when they know nothing about us, neither would the government regulate where our asset is, the least one can do is to afford making the use of mixers for these or use some of the privacy secured wallet types or run a full node.

Not your keys, not your coins.

I don't know if you have read the article, of course we want our privacy, but Sweden has this very lax law, As per article:

Quote
He also believes that Sweden’s Offentlighetsprincipen (Principle of Public Access to Information) laws, which give the public the right to request information, including residential addresses and tax records from the government, are becoming a means for criminals to prey on ecosystem participants.

So this criminals take advantage of this law and most likely used it to target their specific victims and then use the 5 dollar wrench attack,

705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's happening with Bitcoin transaction fees? on: November 09, 2023, 10:44:37 AM
Yes, as per mempool the fees are:

And it looks like this is a coordinate attack in the last couple of weeks to really increased the fees and make the bitcoin network not usable for ordinary investors. We have this kind of situation before if I'm not mistaken, around May and we didn't do anything about it but just to wait for this whole BRC-20 ordinals to die down. But now they are at it again. Specially the timing though, when we are about to make a good run, some entities will have to ruined it.
You can say that again!

At the moment bitcoin isn't looking attractive not only to ordinary investors but also to users who use it regularly for micro payments and actually with these high transaction fees I see this negatively affecting the gig industry which uses crypto payment a lot...

And with this coordinated attack, we must give the ordinals a hand for not getting bored doing this , spamming the network and all but with time they sure will need to focus their energy elsewhere, let's hang in there & wait for this wave to pass  Cool

Well they can do it, to spam the network again with high fees, perhaps they are doing it intentionally and make bitcoin developers realized another sidechain and scaling solution. But I'm not an expert on it so I will leave if to someone who has more technical skills.

However, I don't also think that they can intentionally do this forever, sooner or later it will have to settle down again.

So for now that is the best thing to do, wait and if we really don't know to spend then just continue to hold.
706  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for November on: November 09, 2023, 10:27:35 AM

I am not good at predicting anything most especially in foreseeing the possible ups and downs for Bitcoin. Now, having said that, my own sentiment is that we are now entering the early phase of the bull run market though there is still that possibility that by December there can be a minor pullback of the price. In this month, there can be a continuing upward pressure maybe even reaching $40K as more and more people as well as big financial firms are hoarding Bitcoin for the coming approval of the ETF and the halving in 2024. Of course, I can be wrong so we should take anything with some raised eyebrows.

$40k should be the resistance right now, currently we have a huge spike again in the last 24 hours, +4.x% and now we are trying to break $37k. So it's good that we have another bullish month.

So the only thing we can do right now is to have a lot of patience.

The target for this month or at least at the end of the year is $40k-$50k and it looks like that trajectory is achievable.
707  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: For Newbies Interested in Gambling on: November 09, 2023, 09:23:06 AM
The first thing to realize newcomer to gambling is that the probability that he will lose more money than win is quite high. In games based on luck, he can change almost nothing over time, and in games in which the result depends on the experience of the player, he has a chance to become better than others, but it will have to spend a lot of time and money. The second thing you need to understand the beginner is that gambling is invented to tickle your nerves, and without high risks it is not possible.

Yeah, so just enjoy in the games you play when you are a beginner. Specially if you go out with your friends and going on a traditional based casinos. It's more fun there for sure specially if are a newbie  and you will at awe with what you are going to see.

So no need to chase big wins, maybe you might experience what we call beginners luck. But after that it could be string of bad luck and so you will definitely lose a lot of money and it will be a bad experience. And from then on you can decide whether to continue or just have fun when gambling.
708  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need more information on: November 08, 2023, 09:38:19 PM
Other than verifying electrum (which is a must), what other info are you looking for? It's kind of hard to answer a question as broad as "wanting to get more info from us" Wink.
Any specific topics you have troubles with?
I already have a verified electrum wallet but haven fund it yet because of me skepticism but within a sometime, I will buy and store it in the electrum wallet as you already suggest earlier.
However, I don't have trouble with any specific topic.

A good computer, as you OP put it, can also be susceptible to viruses. To use the Electrum wallet, you also need to be able to avoid creating provoking factors so that your wallet is not hacked. What do you do on your "good" computer? Are there many tasks, how do you share your interests? Games, finance, do you have everything in one system? And which one? If you think that Electrum requires a powerful computer with good data, then this is not at all necessary. Install the most common, resource-intensive Linux system, and then install Electrum into it. Keep your seed phrase secure, and carefully check your addresses during transactions.
However, I always keep my PC intact because most of my documents are been saved inside and it is free from virus, I don't watch or play video games on my PC because I am such a busy person that is looking forward to earn more living and still have interest in Bitcoin as well.
Talking about the seed phrase, I have saved it in a better and secured place, so I have nothing to worry about my seed phrase.

I think it's better to fund your Electrum wallet already, I mean it's one of the best wallet you could have if you are a bitcoin investor.

And besides, in this market, you really need to have the experience and as much as how many threads your read, if you are not practicing it, the information is nothing. So download Electrum verified it and then fund it so at least you will know how wallets works in it's basic form and protect it by having your mnemonic seed safe and secure, (not online).
709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you know about the first public servant paid in bitcoin ? on: November 08, 2023, 09:28:50 PM
His name was Tony Vaughn and he was from Kentucky. He was paid his salary in bitcoin in 2013 , at time when very few even heard about bitcoin. If he would have not sold those bitcoins that he got as salary, he would might have been a billionaire by now. Because bitcoin price at that time was just $1000 a piece , so his wealth would have been about 30 times at current prices.

We have that original thread here in 2013, Tiny Kentucky Town Agrees to Pay Only Police Officer In Bitcoin.

And so he was a police officer, and it was very uncanny for a public servant, specially a law enforcement official losing his belief in fiat system and looking for a alternative like Bitcoin in it's early years.

And he is correct, and let me quote him from that 2013 article:

Quote
"I pretty much think it will eventually take over," he said, "or I hope it does."
710  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will it Hold? BTC Targets $40,000 on: November 07, 2023, 01:23:30 AM
When it comes to the 40k Bitoins's speculation, without any doubt I can say that yes maximum of us are highly Bullish, but from my sixth sense or you can say greed I'm expecting a good correction. I have some buying plans there but that is a decent scenario, the Market may not follow it.

A maximum of the traders and sentiments are indicating that the market will follow the journey till 40k to 45k, there's an in-between mode of consolidation in which the market will stay on a tight range for a decent time. TBH the first week is not following my predictions and if the 2nd week goes against the scenario of correction then I'll be expecting a breakout of the range.

I think first if we wanted to get to $40k, we need to overcome the current mental barrier which is $35k. And it seems just like any other resistance, it seems to be very difficult for now to breach it unless we have significant good and positive news in the market.

So for now, it's hard to say at least that we will go to $40k.

We might be seeing another sideways patterns that we are more familiar with as we have it in the last 6 months or so.
711  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Out of curiosity, how much you wagered recently? on: November 07, 2023, 01:05:30 AM
I only wagered like $230 for two months. Never played that much in a casino recently, as I've focused more on sports betting and watching some games rather than play blindly and not get something from what I spent time and money from. Trainwrecks is paid by gambling platforms and other brands to bet on casinos and stream it on a live streaming platform to attract people to gamble, so he's literally not spending his own money on most of these instances as that's already covered for him. You cannot compete with these streamers, they have their funds secured and are still getting something even though they blow their own bags in one go.

I don't know, I don't think that gamblers are keeping a log of their gambling money, on how much they spent. And if I remember correctly, we have a similar thread before or at least asking if we keep track of everything, or if there is a logs that we have and most answers no.

As in this case, it's obvious that he is being sponsored by a gambling site, so he might or can play as much as he want, whether it is with his real money or not, that is the big question. Others might have doubt that he spent that big in gambling, otherwise if he didn't he could be a millionaire or billionaire by now.
712  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: November 05, 2023, 07:04:16 AM
Looks like the Boston Celtics are the last undefeated team left standing already in the NBA. They play against the Nets today in what should be an easy victory for them, but the odds don’t make it much of an appealing bet. For those who like to juice their bets with a little multi bet action, including the Celtics as winners might be an easy little bump in odds.

Yes, it was close game though, try to bet on the Nets at last the +7.5 but still, the Celtics make it a 10 point game.

Jayson Tatum is really hot this early as he scored 10,000 points throughout his young career. So not sure what team are going to defeat them.

Their next game will be against the Timberwolves, so it's hard to go against them as the team looks very solid indeed.
713  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buying at 35k? on: November 04, 2023, 11:11:28 PM
When they hear about the price of one bitcoin, many individuals who are unaware of the potential of bitcoin label it as being "expensive." Those who have always understood the potential value of bitcoin would advise you to buy it at whatever price you see because what you currently see to be an expensive price may turn out to be a low one in the future.

I'm not sure what your long-term or short-term investment strategy is for bitcoin. However, if you do intend to invest in bitcoin for the long term, you can purchase it for the $35k price tag and hope to make huge profits in years to come.

You just have to look at history though, although it's might not be a good practice, but going back like in 2020 March wherein there is a pandemic scare, prices goes down hard at $3k. However, when it hit all time high at 2021, prices are at $69k.

So that alone shows how big the potential of bitcoin, so whatever price your enter, I think you are going to make profits in the future.

Specially if you hold on it for the long term, the profits are going to rewarding that you are going to hook on buying bitcoin at any price range.
714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE TOP 5 CRYPTO NARRATIVES on: November 04, 2023, 09:39:25 AM
Well for me lsdfi, bot tokens, and AI tokens have been resurfacing a lot of times in the market. Well Im not sure what would trigger the market but you lack in the list the always on the go memecoins which always come back at different forms. Even though they arent that much theres always a leader on the lead that will comes out that helps in the growth of market.

They are one of the hottest topics right now specially bots wherein everything was bult for it's simplicity but it covers a lot of sectors, just one example gambling word. There are telegram bots for this kind of specifics and they are so called adhere to the basic tenant of crypto which is anonymity.

But obviously it's the real world application that is still very dominant up to this day.

This is the very fight use case of crypto, everything that we can think of, crypto or blockchain can be applicable. However, some of the projects are just copy cat of the original, hence it will suddenly die down unless new projects emerges that is greater than the original one.
715  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin may not hit $24,750 again in 2023 - I'm bullish till 2024 on: November 04, 2023, 08:28:07 AM
The bullish trend from the end of October till the beginning of November made me realize that we are not going to see a declining movement of bitcoin that will hit the price of bitcoin below $25k again.

Lucky are those people who bought bitcoin when it was $25k and are still holding it till now. The uptrend movement of bitcoin has started this November. I wonder what will make it fall to the $25k, that so many of us do not want to see such a price again, we are even aiming for a higher price of $40k upwards before the end of the month.

but when btc was way below 24k and the market was bloody red, people were hesitant to stash btc because they were afraid that it may continue to go down.
well, that's the feeling of most users. they will only appreciate this market once it is heading to the positive direction.
as we don't know what other happenings will come in the next coming months, seems that we are in for a treat as we overcome the 30k level and the vibe is still positive in this market.

Well it's two fold, there are "smart investors" who continue to accumulate when the price is below because they know that it is a the best opportunity to buy. For those who are afraid or shall we say waiting for the price to go down, then it's their fault though. That's why it's advisable to not really wait for the price to dip because it might not happen.

So if we have that capital,  I will say just to continue buy bitcoin regardless of the price.

And if you are looking for long term, then that is also good as you will really make a lot of profit if you are going to sell it at the bull run next year.
716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Stevenson vs De Los Santos - Nov 16 on: November 04, 2023, 07:58:35 AM
Everyone looks for for Stevenson right now as there are news that he had a partnership with a shoe company-Reebok. Not sure if I've heard partnership deals before as far as boxing shoe goes, it's mostly on basketball and other sports.

But with this one, Stevenson is breaking grounds and it just proved the hype around him with this partnership.

And maybe this is just a precedent for other great boxers too to be paid by this big shoe company like Nike and Adidas.
717  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost my coins on: November 03, 2023, 01:11:33 PM

Hi, Salutations, Here, I'm new. Actually, I was searching for answers after making some really terrible mistakes. A friend told me about this website, where I could find all the answers, and I came here to look for them.
In reality, I wanted to mix my wallet's bitcoin with the bitcoin on Coinbase. I believe I made a mistake. Although I can't recall every step, I believe there was a purpose I went on "swap." I mistook the money I was sending to my wallet from Coinbase. However, bitcoin never made it there. It is finished, and I received numerous confirmations. However, I was curious about its whereabouts. I guess I sent it to someone and it’s lost. Sad,  but okay, I just want to confirm there is nothing I can do! I will be glad to have solutions or advice.

If you are sending it yourself from Coinbase to your wallet, meaning you are the one sending it, how it can be lost?

Perhaps you might have send it to a wrong address. And it will help us if you can send the tx like going to https://www.blockchain.com/explorer/<then put your address of destination here>
718  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 93 Percent of all Bitcoin Has Been Mined on: November 03, 2023, 12:39:41 PM
Yeah, you read that right, 93% of all existing Bitcoins have been mined already, we have just 7% remaining, and it is estimated that the last Bitcoin will be mined by the year 2140, that is approximately 117 years from this year 2023.

100 years makes 1 century right? yeah, so this means that the remaining 7% of bitcoin yet to be mined will take more than one century to mine all of them.

Now, with bitcoin becoming more popular and expensive as time progresses, Billions are gonna be competing to mine the last remaining bitcoin, if not for anything, to at least have it as a legacy that they were among those that mined the last bitcoins, I also want this as a legacy for myself but unfortunately, I probably won't be alive in the next 70 to 80 years from now, and so it is also for majority of us here right now.

Are you here and still unsure whether bitcoin is the right asset to invest in, well, just start accumulating bitcoin today before it's too late, if you feel you are too old and don't have any need for bitcoin, you sure need bitcoin for the generation coming through you, accumulate bitcoin for them, it's a legacy they will live to forever remember you for.

I don't think that we can see it in our lifetime.

But I guess in the next couple of halvings, we might see that almost all bitcoin has been mine at 99%. And the rest of that 1% will be mined till that 2140.

So there is still some time for us before we can reach that 99% of bitcoin being mine and if that happens, then obviously it will be scarce and it will really push the price beyond our imagination.
719  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can it be real bull or just a temptation. on: November 03, 2023, 12:27:54 PM
OP how surprised are you beginning to be now in November, that you have seen Bitcoin go higher than the $29k that you were surprised by last month?

Are you beginning to have the feeling of a bull run or do you still see the recent rise of Bitcoin as a temptation not to fall in? Regardless of how you currently interpret it, I want to tell you that the bull run is getting ready to be on the move, and it is not a tempting move that will get you roasted with losses
Bitcoin is showing some bullish signs, now this may not actually signify a bull run is imminent but it is a good sign for those that have already ended their accumulation and they are simply waiting for the bull run to come.

However I feel there is still some time left before that happens, but time is running out, investors really need to end their preparations already, because once the bull market starts that is simply the moment to relax and be happy about our preparations finally producing the profits we expected.

Yes, time is running out, but I think at least in the next six months, we can still accumulate as the price could be just ranging from $30k-$50k. I think that is still very cheap as compare to what we are all predicting, at least 6 digits and it could be more than 100% profits for us.

So if we have the capital or at least have patience, and then long at the grand scheme of it all - profits in the future. And with that, just continue to accumulate no matter what the price is in the next six months and just be prepared for the bull run in 2024.
720  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greed or risk on: November 03, 2023, 12:16:37 PM
Just as you've said, if one leaves then he's safe and nothing bad is going to happen, but staying back to continue is a display of greed and that is very risky because one will eventually lost everything to that same particular bet, the way we see bet isn't the way it appears, we take the risk in doing it, but when the risk becomes dominant than the advantage, it's better to withdraw before the worse should happen and we loose the entire opportunity.
Everything will depend on each gambler and you said it right. If he continues gambling because he follows his greed, he will only experience more losses. Supposedly, when he can win, he can stop first to lower his tension and not follow his ego to win more money. And he could indeed lose all his money if he decides to continue gambling, especially as many gamblers have experienced this. Gamblers must pay attention to themselves when gambling and not be so engrossed in gambling that they forget when to stop.
But sadly, gamblers often continue to play and follow their greed. We can say that the reason behind it is because of their addiction. AFAIK, when getting addicted to gambling, a psychological effect can stimulate a person's brain, something like a reward system, the more a person repeatedly does (winning or losing), the more addicted you get.

This state can be considered the same with compulsive gambling, causes of chasing your bets that lead to more losses. Even if the gambler pays attention to his behavior, nothing will still happen as he continues to disregard it when gambling.

You are right, gamblers are not going to stop and will continue to played despite winning big because of their greed. Perhaps people are build with it, I mean if you by chance continue to win then you think you can get more and continue to bet for more.

And then you suddenly fell into big gambling addicts and you think that you are invincible. So it's very hard to control's one emotion and behavior. It will take a lot from the gamblers to really stop their gambling habit and kick it out for good.
