701  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: October 26, 2023, 02:30:21 AM
I will go on the -2.5 @1.82 for the Dallas Mavericks against the Spurs on a live bet. There's no question how good Wemby is, we have seen him in pre-season and for sure he will be one superstars in this league.

However, I think the experience of Dallas will be too much to handle even if they take a big lead at the start of the 2nd quarter.

And I'm sensing the Luka might pull a triple double.
702  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will $BTC soar beyond 35K or dip below? 🚀📉 on: October 25, 2023, 12:44:25 AM
Join the BTC discussion and let us know where you think it's headed! Will it skyrocket past 35K 🚀 or experience a dip 📉? Your insights matter, so cast your vote and share your crypto wisdom with the community! 📊

If I'm not mistaken, we have hit $35k already, but it slowly goes down to $33k. So it means that $35k is the next big barrier that we have to break. And I think we will retest that price again, if there is really some positive news around not like the Cointelegraph fake news or the ticker being displayed and then suddenly removed again.

As per CMC:

Quote
High
$35,150.43

People think its some kind of manipulation from big entities and wanted to see what will be the reaction of investors. And true enough, the bite on that hype pushing the price to $35k. But it has settled down a bit for now. But we are in a good position this October-December to at least be in the $40k-$50k region.
703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: October 25, 2023, 12:25:14 AM
The never ending wait is finally over and we have something to cheer up for everyday yet again as far as the NBA is concerned, we have the Lakers vs Denver Nuggets which just tipped off a few seconds ago, I have the game on Over 225.5. as well as a couple of players props.

I could not pick a side because Jokic have been off anything basketball after the NBA finals, so I'm just going to enjoy the feeling of having NBA back going more into the mode from tomorrow, hopefully.

Good bet actually, Nuggets is a high scoring team and so is the Lakers, first quarter alone the Nuggets scored 34 points already.

I'm going for over 227.5, live betting at 1.75. Hopefully the torrent shooting will continue to the second half of the game. Nuggets building a huge double digit lead and it's time for the Lakers to do the catch-up so hopefully a high scoring game.
704  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: Fake Emergency aid to Gaza website on: October 25, 2023, 12:00:42 AM
This also remind me of the Russia-Ukraine war where scamners created several fake donation avenues. Some even launched cryptocurrency token whereby anyone who buys into the ICO will be supporting the people of Ukraine. A lot of people actually fell for them before they realized it was all scam.

In a war situation, many things happens.  To some people, it is all about making money... they see war as opportunity to cash out big time. Don't even be surprised that even among the higher ranks of both sides, the war is just business and the victims are mere necessary sacrifice for a good business.

We just have to be careful so we don't fall for the emotional blackmail of scamners.

Not only that, even the pandemic and disasters like earthquakes, this scammers are going to create fake donation websites to lure people who at heart wanted to help. So this scammers are taking advantage of the psychology about empathy.

I not wishing ill to those who created this website, but if we believed in karma, these people will know what's coming for them.

Maybe they will have money from this scam attempts, but who knows, maybe karma will come and get them.
705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I think gambling is inbuilt, kids don't learn it anywhere, they do it! on: October 24, 2023, 01:14:49 AM
Back then in our community, kids didn't know about gambling until some other groups of people came and they introduced lots of varieties of games where you can bet your money. there was no internet back then and it would be a worse scenario if it happened today because there are no limits anymore and no one will gonna attempt to close them because it's not that easy to shut them down when they are online.

I think back then, and as a kids we have a lot of imagine, but we really don't know if that is gambling per se. I mean we could be just sitting in our front porch and then just decided to play something and later on it could involved money. So that's how kids are back in the days.

But with the advent of internet and it grow in the last 20 years or so, it's very different atmosphere now. For sure those who grew up in the 90's-2000's knows that the difference now. So it's very hard to control our kids right now, they have their mobile phone and can simply play and gamble anytime they want without us parents knowing it.
706  Economy / Speculation / Re: "Mr. Bitcoin is about to go down big." - Jim Cramer on: October 24, 2023, 12:53:26 AM
he is a mad genius. I did a sale at 33333 today.

Congrats, on your sale mate.

As for Jim Cramer, yeah, if he makes predictions, the opposite is going to happen so it's better to really counter most of his self proclaim prophecy on bitcoin itself. On the other hand, if he did make another bold claims, then for sure expect another huge gains.  Cheesy

So we have to thank perma and anti-bitcoin like Jim, sometimes we need this kind of "entertainment" in the market.
707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blackrock ETF listed on the ticker index… perhaps it’s approved? on: October 23, 2023, 11:44:39 PM
If bitcoin spot ETF is approved, it would be a breaking news. I do not think it is approved yet. But the day it would be approved is getting closer.

But maybe not . It will be nice to see us move to 35k and flow in the 35-38k range for a few months.
I am still accumulating  Grin. I do not have enough bag yet.

Bitcoin price now is above $32000.

Yes, this is the first thing that I did, check the price and it's magically jump to $32k, Lol.

So we will see, this news is obviously the one fueling this huge jump this October. And just imagine if it is really true (I haven't read that it's confirmed yet). But in any case, good to see bitcoin making a rally at the end of the year and proving once more that October is a great month for us.

The target of $40k-$50k at the end of the year is still on target.
708  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling affect your relationship? on: October 21, 2023, 10:14:07 AM
If you see such a problem in yourself and you think it will cause problems in your friendships, you should act accordingly. Gambling is not more important than your friends and does not have the same effect. We can divide it into real life and virtual life. Gambling actually falls under virtual life when you look at it from another perspective.
A person addicted to gambling needs to protect themselves from their friends. For someone who limits themselves in this regard, their friendships are already at the forefront and they know how damaging it can be.
While I agree this is going to get more difficult as time goes by, as the digital life of each person is becoming more important than their real life, I remember watching a documentary about influencers and due to the nature of their work they had hundreds of thousands of followers and friends in the different platforms they use, but they had zero friends in real life, so more and more people are taking their digital life more seriously and this is generating an environment in which addiction can run rampant.

I agree, that is the sad state or negative effects of being in social media and a influencer, you might have a lot of followers and friend, but in real life - 0 and you don't know how to get along the way with other people too.

And there is this case wherein I saw a lot of relationships in social media getting broken because their time is just spend to make videos after videos and in the end they just got burn and just decided to call it quits.
709  Economy / Economics / Re: Cracking the Code of Saving Money... on: October 21, 2023, 09:51:41 AM
We all want to save money, but it's not always easy.
There are so many things that tempt us to spend, unexpected bills that pop up, and it can be hard to make ends meet.
How do you manage to save in a world that encourages spending? Let's talk about it.
Share your ideas, tips, and stories about saving money, and together, we can figure out how to get better at it. (We will also draw valuable lessons from the mistakes and experiences of others.)
There is not really any kind of code or secret, if you want to save more money there are not many options you can use, since increasing your income is harder than reducing your expenses then it is preferable to concentrate on the latter than the former, and in order to reduce your expenses you really need to try to get the most out of every dollar, and this means using products of generic brands, reducing your luxuries to a minimum and sometimes even reducing your expenses on key areas for some time until you accumulate enough savings to buy or invest in what you need.
In reducing expenses, we need to postpone many desires to be able to have them so that the money we earn can still be used to save and if we cannot reduce expenses for the desire to have something then the income we earn will not be able to meet the needs we need, however I think earning extra income is very difficult, but if we have free time then we can learn some skills that we like so that if we are experts in that field then we will get income from the skills we learn.

Yes, and that's why it's really very difficult to some extend because majority of us are impulsive buyers, which means we didn't think about it, we just buy things that are in the end, we will not used it.

So we need to practice delayed gratification, just like what we are here in crypto. We save and HODL for years and then wait for the bull run to occur and then we sell and make profits out of it.
710  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dump market potential? on: October 20, 2023, 03:23:00 AM
We already had a global pandemic that was far worse for Bitcoin than some global tensions, because it actually affected the economy and people's ability to invest. And still Bitcoin performed remarkably well in 2020 and 2021.

And in general there's no strong correlation between Bitcoin price and some global events. Bitcoin changes its price all the time and people try to explain it my looking at the current news, but if you make a historical analysis, you will see that they don't really affect the price.

This is also what I'm thinking, the global pandemic was worst in my opinion, every country is isolated and the economy suffers and up to this day, some of them haven't recovered yet.

And we are still standing though, bitcoin had it's halving in the pandemic, but it wasn't affected and it's like business as usual for us. So that is already a big test that we passed with flying colours. And then we have the Ukrainian war in the beginning of this year and yet the effects are minimal. So it's ok to be paranoid on the geo-political happenings in the world like war, but I don't think that bitcoin will be affected in general.
711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin's Price Surges and Drops Unexpectedly on: October 20, 2023, 02:35:16 AM
This is a game play by the Big Boys in the cryptocurrency industries, which is using any opportunity to hype the crypto market as a result of a sudden pump or unexpected cryptocurrency market movements, which is good in the industry, because the positive impact is very strong that makes Bitcoin make a such moved while still on the Bear market that makes the price pull back movements.

Exactly, the rules have change already since 2017, when big players and wall streets suddenly went into the market and manipulate the game itself. So everything has change and what's worse is that we, retail investors are the one suffering the consequences.

How can cointelegraph get themselves involved in this kind of manipulation?

So the price went as high as $30k then drop to $28k. So somewhere along the way, big players won and make a huge profit because of that news.
712  Economy / Gambling / Re: what are the best crypto casinos! on: October 20, 2023, 01:40:36 AM
There's nothing wrong with waiting for other people to make a deposit or review first, so that we don't get hit by a fraudulent site, because recently there have been many gambling sites under the guise of fraud, members can deposit but cannot withdraw.
it's best to avoid new sites.
You are right and I agree with you that it is better to wait for the user's feedback as well as ratings before depositing and gambling on a new site. Also, I never play on any site which is brand new. But if all the users do the same then the new brand gambling site will remain a new brand.

Yeah, I think per experience, it's really hard to trust a new crypto based gambling sites:

1. they will tell us that don't have KYC
2. easy deposit and withdrawal
3. provably fair
4. sudden change of ToS

But later on we will see some scam accusations against this new platform and that someone can't withdraw or maybe the new casinos are asking too much personal info (KYC) which in the beginning there are not mandating anyone.
713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Lump sum Vs DCA" for Bitcoin Accumulation on: October 20, 2023, 01:08:51 AM
Lump sum and DCA are just two terms for investment strategies - but they are also mutually beneficial if you are a long-term investment holder. Someone who can save $200 at the end of the month can invest with lump sum 1x/ month - especially during a dip. They can do it consistently with the same amount every month - meaning they also do DCA 12x a year with $200 every month instead of buying $600 every 4 months.

I actually don't have a problem with the two strategies above as long as they are long-term investments - that's because the end goal is to generate profits. It takes good analysis to determine whether you need to buy a lump sum or do a DCA to get a lower average price - but I can combine both and adjust to market conditions.

Yes, it's just how this two strategies fit individually. There are investors who doesn't have that lump sum in their pocket to buy big amount of bitcoin. And so even if they want to buy in just one get go and put it in their wallet for a long time, it will not be work for them. But for whales they can do that as they have deep pockets.

And so majority of us could have been buying bitcoin in a weekly basis or worst just once a month depending on our budget. And so it is still very effective strategy. It might take though mental toughness to buy in the long run, but it's worth it.
714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP and Roblox and Bitpay on: October 19, 2023, 11:22:06 AM
^^ Yes, obvious this is fake news, and it seems that we are getting it lately, just like the Cointelegraph news about the Bitcoin Spot ETF.

I will assume that there are some entities who want's to make some quick bucks, a manipulation for this kind of news lately.

In any case, another lessons should be learn from us, not just believed any crypto related news, we have to really check it out first and verify the source so that we will not fall for this kind of manipulations.
715  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Know When to Stop. Lesson for Everyone, Particularly Investors on: October 19, 2023, 10:37:44 AM
Being unfocused in any job is not good, especially in trading it will give a risk that will impact the final result of the trade.
[...]
I think we all know the problem you describe here. The less concentrated or the more pressure behind the trade ("this must work now!!") the worse the result usually is.

As a small tip: A bot is never unfocused. It has helped me a lot to have my strategies executed by a bot, the only lack of concentration can happen here when setting up the bot, but this error is usually noticed very quickly - and is also very easily corrected.
I used an open source bot that just ran on my Raspberry Pi, but now there are plenty of free online hosted bots that work even better.

Correct, it is still up to us humans on whether we will have success on trading if we used bots. As you have said, the right parameters should be set, and it can only be accomplished if you are a season trader already.

Otherwise, there will be a lot of trial and error on your part and it could lead to a lost early in your career.

But if you can get a hand on it and after several months, you might start to appreciate how good bots are as far as helping us in trading.
716  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: Scam/Fake Binance Word of the Day (WOTD) on: October 19, 2023, 10:22:10 AM
True, and that's why it is not advisable to really used Google as search engine for crypto related, like looking for exchanges, bitcoin mixer or even gambling platforms because this criminals can exploit Google ads and place their phishing sites on the very first page of Google.

And most likely it is spread to social media as what it was pointed out.

Or even is cases that this scammers are going to used text messages or sms to trick and scam anyone.
Yes even casinos as well, almost every service that when you try to search on search engines like Google. You'll see the counterpart of these scams that will be on top of all of the results but Google never gives that warning to the visitors. Too many sources that they are using and in every platform, all of them are also there monitoring and trying to trick everyone, every newbie that they can. It's because they've been always the most vulnerable victims that they are targeting, actually, they are the main targets of them.

True, that's why I don't seldom used Google to search, I might as well search the forum first if I'm looking for exchanges and gambling sites as I might fall for this trick.

I do not trust any of these connect your wallet sites. If I have to connect a wallet, i'll just go elsewhere. I've seen a few times where scammers drain wallets with this method. Good catch here @OP. Better to be safe than sorry and just avoid this crap.
I think every veteran BCT user has the same instinct as you. I'd rather risk not getting into the airdrop than connecting my wallet to their website.

I like to put myself in the mind of the scammer who's doing this, how did that scammer come up with WOTD as a means to scam people? It's not like there's a person out there that takes crypto this serious that they have to have this on their phone, without knowing how that scammer thinks, I assume that this scammer would probably have an easy time using the most brain dead scam that everyone knows compared to doing this, I can't wrap my head around how they can scam people into putting their wallet in that site.

If you put your mind of the scammer, they know that maybe someone are still going to be trick by this WOTD because as far as I know, you don't need any money. On the contrary you have the possibility to make some from this contest by Binance. And so it's very easy for scammers to create this website and copy the UI and everything, spread it to their fake social media accounts and just wait for someone to fall and bite.
717  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 19, 2023, 10:07:13 AM
James Harden is absent from training camp today and hasn’t been with the team since Sunday. It looks like he gave it a try but is now back to being on hiatus while trying to force his team’s hand and get him a trade to the Los Angeles Clippers. It seems like this has to happen before the season starts, so I’m expecting to hear something soon.

He is more likely serious about getting out from that team and he is legally doing everything he can to piss them off. I don't know where this drama will end, also the 76ers are not convinced to trade him and they are keeping him till now no matter how childish he acts these days. what could have been the reason why he made this kind of drama every time he wanted to get away from his responsibility?

With the way Harden is acting so far, the 76ers should not expect much from him. He wants out, and they should grant his request. I'm confident they can trade him for some good players. Why delay the inevitable when they'll eventually grow tired of keeping a player who is not willing to be part of the team? Harden is done; he has openly expressed his disinterest in playing with the team, so there's no reason to prolong his agony.

It's not that easy process though, just like what happened to Ben Simmons. It will take a lot for the Sixers or to the team that will get Harden. So far his preference team of Clippers doesn't want to sacrifice their players just to get Harden.

So they are not in a hurry, and I think it Harden is going to be traded, he might not land on Clippers itself.

Or they need to involved another team in the process to get it done.
718  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you find yourself doing unnecessary purchases when there is plenty.. on: October 18, 2023, 03:33:37 AM
...money flowing in? I'm not looking for solutions, I'm merely asking, something for discussion  Grin

Yes, obviously, I think it's human nature though. But looking back I should have at least invest that money or just save it for future used. Because we don't know what the future lies ahead, maybe down the line there is some emergency within your family and you could have used that extra money to help.

Also, that flow of money might not go forever, unless you really build generational well for you and your family.

So it's better to weigh-in first, what do you want to buy, it is a question of need or just want?
719  Economy / Economics / Re: A dog that vomited and then ate the vomit again on: October 18, 2023, 02:45:50 AM
He could have some narrative behind why he continue to attack bitcoin, nevertheless the effect is just temporary though. Maybe he secretly invested on bitcoin, or someone as a hedge fund manager acts for him to be a investor, we will never know.

Obviously, he has a ton of money already and maybe just playing around and see how it goes for him. For sure though that he knows that NuBank is crypto friendly, but then again, if we talk about profits, it doesn't matter to this billionaire as they will continue to invest which they think will be big someday, including a crypto friendly bank.
720  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do your parents know about your gambling habit ? on: October 18, 2023, 01:51:00 AM
I think majority of us here are already old enough to gamble and not even bother to tell our parents. But in any case I will be like in the teen's definitely I might have to hide it from my parents in the beginning.

Just like when I used to smoke, I started very young and then hide from my parents, until I was old enough already, (I have jobs and about to settle down).

And it could really depends on the situation, if your parents are gambling and so you are influence by it. So it might be hard to hid it from them and on the other hand you might strike a conversation about your gambling and if you win or lose.
