Tomorrow dev will announce the "airdrop", send all his coins to cryptsy and cash out. You can quote me on that.

Very original

Are you kidding?
 According to http://www.coinwarz.com/miningprofitability/litecoin
mintcoin is  the least effective coin right before dead Mooncoin, Flappy and Penguin, which are actually not traded any more.  Just a month or two in this direction and mint will be abandoned. If you cant make money with it, so what is the matter?

We realize that profit is the short-term motivation for most people in the cryptocurrency community, which is why coins do die.  Mooncoin was a memecoin-clone of Dogecoin.  Mintcoin is not branded nor in the same class as PoW coins.

NXT has not collapsed, because it has a solid community.

This is just a fun side-project for some of us.  Who knows where it will lead?  None of us do, could be abandoned, or could become very successful.

One thing is clear... there's no shortage of speculation by armchair critics...

703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *20 Exchanges *26 Merchants on: March 23, 2014, 01:02:13 PM
no multipool = no mintcoin

Quite frankly, I do not want Mintcoin to rise in price.  At this point, we know that a rising price is not good for a coin necessarily. Mintcoin is fairly priced and offers a great community and long-term development goals.

I am very sorry to those who bought in at 40 or 60 sat, but the cryptocurrency world is changing fast.  Higher prices does not equal success.  In fact, it could be said the opposite as we are not trying to pump this coin in the short-term.

I like the Blackcoin community but their obsession with price is not a good thing necessarily.  Some people are bound to win and others are bound to lose when pumping the price of a coin is the central focus of the community.

All the posts about BC just sounds like sour grapes, and does nothing to
help MC!

I would have to agree.

There's no need to bad mouth other coins whatsoever.

Nobody can predict the future, that's why people are creating the future.  Hard to know what will happen down the road 1-5 years.

At this point, I seriously don't know why people bother participating in cryptocurrencies if they aren't having fun and enjoying it.
705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. New exchanges added! on: March 23, 2014, 08:06:29 AM
Why the whole Faircoin community should be punished because one bad guy's cheating? This is totally unfair. Mintpal should secure their voting system to prevent this kind of cheating.

What if I behaved like a bad guy and use bots to vote other coins like 'iXcoin' or 'QubitCoin'? Then will Mintpal remove them as well? What a f*king shit website it is. People were buying faircoin yesterday to wait for profit. Please do not let one bad guy ruin the whole community. Angry Angry Angry

I guess....

Life's not FAIR...

Sort of ironic, no?

T minus 3 days until the most epic price decline in crypto history. Wtb 50 cent auro in 4 days pm me thanks.

You know, the best time to buy something is when nobody wants it but everyone is watching it.  Like right now.

Details of the first project that we plan to finance with the Mintcoin Fund: Sonoma County - California Coast Redwood/Douglas Fir Reforesation
Quote
Project F Sonoma County - California Coast Redwood/Douglas Fir Reforestation

We have already done about 13 acres. This is an extraordinary amount of work and I would need support of the Mintcoin Fund in order to expand this project. It is possible that I can work with other foresters that wish to participate on other properties (10,000+ acres) long-term.

get me pictures of the reforestation efforts and more details and ill do a story on it

I can get you some pictures but it will take time because we have halted planting so far because of the drought and I am not in Sonoma right now.  I am in San Diego currently for another month until I return for a summer work project.  We just finished a 6 month pruning/thinning project of Ponderosa Pine trees, Redwoods, and Douglas Fir trees.  This is for fire prevention and healthy growth.  The planting season typically is in the fall/winter/spring depending on rainfall.  We are beyond the rainy season now and as many people know, California is in the worst drought in over 100 years right now.  So, nearly every reforestation project is on hold in Northern California at the moment.  But there are big plans for next season as it is believed there will be an El Niņo cycle forming which will bring heavy rains next winter.

The 13 acres that has already been planted and grown was through private/govt partnership and it has been an experiment.  Reforestation on this level is actually a very new thing and scientists are only beginning to understand the best ways to do it.  Going forward, we have over 100+ acres that can be planted on the current properties under existing Forest Management Plans.  But we will need funding for this and I can work on getting the funding matched by the government, usually 50%.

These Forest Management Plans are long-term plans (25+ years) that seek to expand the native Coast Redwood and Douglas Fir species of trees.

If you go to the link, you can see a few pictures that I took 1 month ago.

don't understand, maybe someone can fill me in?

dev stored all the coins at different addresses? But are those addresses all in the same wallet?

Or are you using a different wallet for each individual address to store the coins?

thanks

There are 21 addresses, each containing 500,000 coins. I split it into 21 addresses so I don't need to load all the coins at once into a wallet. As the airdrop progresses I will load coins from these addresses to a hot wallet. I will list all transactions and all unspent outputs of said hot wallet publicly.

This should be interesting to watch!! Good luck over the next few days!
709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TAKCoin REBRANDED . TOLERANCE. ACCEPTANCE. KNOWLEDGE [TAK] is Back. SHA256 on: March 20, 2014, 02:04:10 AM
@Takeicoin good idea and plan.

1. Announce the release date for the platform. Like Auraracoin is doing. This will keep the buzz going.
2. Release early. You already have community. Don't lose it, if you are serious about this.

It can become really successful!

Once we have a more in depth movement plan I think we should be able to do this. Making a social network isn't the easiest thing in the world, especially with custom coding (ideas/conversations, penpal idea, privacy functions).

The development company is supposed to deliver a more specific eta to me later today.

Nice to see you guys ditched the TakeAction theme.

I like this T.A.K. acronym much more.

Look forward to seeing what you guys do going forward.

Good luck!
710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 19, 2014, 09:03:20 PM
Is it a good time to get into BC now?

3 days ago (at 1500) i asked myself a similar question: should i get back to bc? Today the price is 4000. Think about it.

It is too good to be true.  Best to sell now, unless there is some other particular reason why this coin should be increasing in value other than scarcity.  I can't predict anything, but it doesn't look like this is genuine real value more like hype.  Not trying to be a downer, just giving people some advice to sell now and buy back for 1600 just like on March 15th.

100,000 One hundred thousand Karmacoins sent to the general fund.
KM1Xjj1kZtcvm4Fa2JEjQFZgmz6aB1pQdJ

Anyone else want to pitch in on further development and expansion of the coin? I personally think this one is going to be a big winner and yet only a month and a half old at this point.

Got some buy orders in over at cryptorush, id be happy to send some loot over when they are filled.

i very much support Karmacoin.  don't lose any faith people, big things are going to happen with this coin, it just takes some perseverance.

i would like to see a Ripple/Karmacoin gateway, not sure what kind of resources this takes, but it would be a great idea to get the Ripple community involved in Karmacoin as the Ripple community is very supportive of altcoins and crowdfunding projects, and it is another means of growing Karmacoin's purpose.

It would also be nice if Karmacoin partnered with Dogecoin to do a fundraiser for a charity, because Dogecoin has a lot of clout and the developers are considered trustworthy.

Karmacoin community should develop close links to Dogecoin community as there is a lot of overlap Smiley

714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vault of Satoshi asks What Coins Do You Want to See? on: March 17, 2014, 08:31:13 PM
Hey Guys!

Adam here, new Director of Marketing at Vault of Satoshi! We've been having some internal discussions about adding new altcoin options to our exchange when we launch our new coin-to-coin trading system and we wanted to reach out to the public and get a feel for what coins they were most interested in seeing!

To be clear, we'd be looking to support these coins in coin-to-coin as well as in coin to fiat - as for what we are looking for in coins? We like coins that have a unique value proposition and aren't just a raw clone (unless they have a fantastic community behind them), or obviously coins with a fair volume. So when you request a coin let me know why you think it's unique, why you think it's going places and where it is at right now! Quite a few times we've been the first exchange to adopt smaller coins for direct fiat trade and we've found that's always helped their communities flourish!

I'm happy to be engaged in discussions of what you want to see on Vault of Satoshi in the future and look forward to your feedback. For the security skeptical you can reach out to me at adam@vaultofsatoshi.com to verify or ask any further questions

All the best,
Adam!

Well Adam,

Are you guys supporting XRP (Ripple) trading yet?  Let me know when you do.

Thanks

oh yeah still at 2000 right smartasses? oh I'm sure this has *nothing* to do with getting added on additional large exchanges. don't say I didn't warn you.

Still up about 100% month over month, and that was before it got added to Mintpal.

In case nobody knows about this case, might as well look it up for your own educational purposes:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Dollar

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/25/us/liberty-dollar-creator-awaits-his-fate-behind-bars.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

I'm not sure if it is relevant at all to USDe, but it's worth thinking about.

Just did some quick reading from the wiki, this kind of stands out ( 18 U.S.C. § 486)
Quote
Whoever, except as authorized by law, makes or utters or passes, or attempts to utter or pass, any coins of gold or silver or other metal, or alloys of metals, intended for use as current money, whether in the resemblance of coins of the United States or of foreign countries, or of original design, shall be fined under this title  [1] or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

This one seems a little more concerning, as the above seems to be based on physical properties, and this one doesn't seem to have such a limit:
18 U.S.C. § 514 http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/514

And reading through the rest of the wiki, the other codes seem to be around fraud and the use of gold/silver as currency. You can find most of the codes violated in this section: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Dollar#Indictment.

I don't think the liberty dollar scenario can be applied to USDe specifically, but it could be applied to any currency that hopes to "undermine" the US dollar and take its place.

Granted I'm not a lawyer, but beyond such concerns as they apply to digital currency, I'm wondering about exchanges running in the US and the laws that might or might not surround them. This particular wiki sticks out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_currency_exchanger#Regulatory_issues and these phrases stick out: "operation of an unlicensed money transmitting business"; "on charges of operating an illegal digital currency exchange and money transmittal business";

Granted wiki isn't the best source of info, but it gives you a basic idea, more or less that the US government doesn't like competition. I do hope the Austin exchange knows what they're doing.

Agree on a few things:
1. It'll be interested to see how USA based exchanges fair.  Technically Coinbase is an exchange for USD to BTC and is doing fine.  AGX is launching in Austin TX, etc.  It comes down to local state law regulations at this point and eventually more Federal.  At minimum though, all USA based exchanges have to fully comply with anti-money laundering laws, thus is why you have to validate your identity and address on these exchanges (especially to insert/withdraw) money into or from the digital realm where it moves so easily.
2. USDe is in not going to have issue trying to emulate the USDE (dept of education) or undermining the US Dollar.  It is and setting up to be a new common currency that carries the "Dollar" type/name, just like 21 other countries do.  There is a patriotic theme here associate with it which will continuously be evaluated I'm sure so that the currency well represents "a global" approach

My quick 2 cents at this time of thought...

I agree that the name USDe doesn't pose an issue whatsoever.  It is not the same as USD and it does not pretend to mimic the United States Dollar in any ways.

Bittrex is also a US based exchange, but they don't have USDe yet

Unitary Status Dollar eCoin

Unitary|Status Dollar eCoin

or maybe im wrong.. whos knows  Tongue

what's wrong with you guys ?
The name is unique and very attractive !

in chinese, 电子美元, which is so sweet and dreaming to us,, coz everyone loves dollar, therefore loves dollar Ecoin !

Stop this and dont change any. you may spoil this coin !

MOVE to the next ! Focus on further development !

I'm only posing the question because it would be a good idea for a definition of "Unitary Status" on the website.

What exactly does that mean and why was this chosen?

I would imagine that new-comers to this coin and regular people are going to wonder what the hell Unitary Status means.

Create your own definition on the website if you must, but some explanation of why that name was chosen would be agood idea.

So far, I can only find a definition that refers to desegregation.

Cheers
