702  Other / Meta / Re: Wall Observer needs a recount on: November 05, 2019, 09:03:48 PM
fixed tyvm
Theymos hasn't been online. That makes me wonder if there's an automated recount that just takes a while because the topic has a gazillion pages.

There is a "periodic global recount" and guess this is what happened here with the WO thread.
Had some issues with my post count a while back and Theymos said to wait for the recount. So... auto-fixed tyvm Smiley)
703  Other / Meta / Re: [Thanks moderators for delete spam thread]Fake conversation. on: October 24, 2019, 02:21:15 AM
We've made a mistake and we take the blame by posting our understanding to respect the rules of the community because it is normal to be so.
We've fell into a trap without our will ...
Sorry but from your response I don't feel like you fully grasp what actually happened here...
So you paid this agency a monthly fee (I would estimate around $300-$400 per month) "to maintain dialogue with the public".

Now here is the twist:
That guy you talked to has a huge bump farm and 90% of the conversation (if not more) was done BY HIS OWN ACCOUNTS. "The agency" has a truckload of accounts and posts with them to CREATE THE ILLUSION of conversation, but it's actually a monologue.
Not only that you broke the forum rules but you also got ripped off. And that will remain true regardless of any "excessive zeal motivated employees". (which is a load of BS)

... we've had and still have a good collaboration relationship. They have assured us that such an incident will not happen again...
If you will continue working with agencies that have this practice there will be consequences ! First of all we will know for sure what kind of business you are trying to run there and secondly the new thread would have the same fate as the first one but with a ban as a bonus (depending on the mods).
704  Other / Meta / Re: Report Malware and Suspicious Links here so Mods can take Action ! on: October 22, 2019, 05:06:34 PM
... Links to wallets are still there and that's priority imo..These guys have an unlimited amount of compromised accounts at hand, they've probably lost 400 + since April, what's another newbie account to them?

That is the main priority but I see thread got Trashed in the meantime !

You have mad skills dude Smiley Lucky I stumbled across your thread. Keep up the awesome work and keep posting as I would love to see more.
How long would such a project take to finish ? a week  or more ?
706  Other / Meta / Re: Report Malware and Suspicious Links here so Mods can take Action ! on: October 08, 2019, 10:19:55 AM
...What a joke this all is, really i have no words.
Understand that there was a pretty big wave of fake coin ann and fake miners and some other phishing stuff going on. Hundreds of threads, even more banned accounts because of this. So you can see wht people can sometimes jump to conclusions ...
I took a look at your thread before it got trashed but did not see enough red flags to be sure if it's ok or not.

My recommendation is to wait a bit longer for an answer from the admin you PMed or eventually open a separate thread in Meta. Any global mod or above should be able to retrieve your thread but I would wait a bit longer to get a reply to the PM already sent.

Indeed looks like a mistake (probably), but ranting here will help no one Smiley

Besides the fact reports are unhandled for illegal activity (selling accounts with KYC), in which case is this user?
How do I need to report this one to get some mod attention?

Here is the sweet spam honeypot: I am buying verified bet365 account
Thread is locked but imagine the spam if a thread like this has 81 pages. The user mentioned in OP had a fair share of the spam fest there.
Might deserve to be moved to trash ... doesn't look like it might have necessary info ... donno Smiley)

About the reports... each mod judges the situation in his own way. Each of them has a set of guide lines and if ann convinces the mod that it might be at least pseudo-legit (as long as it's not a brand new account selling fully verified with ID, PASSPORT....hell, we'll fly him over to make a selfie with you) he might get away with it and ignore the report for now ... and might get lost in the sea of reports.

Don't take it personally! Keep on reporting as guys like you keep the forum better, healthier and cleaner Smiley

709  Other / Meta / Re: I think my ban is harsh! Can it be reduced to 7 from 30 days? on: September 19, 2019, 04:33:06 PM
if you would have rephrased it as "PM me the user" you were golden.
but post your username / wallet / "good project" in the thread [U.R.L=link here] (if you want) is not ok !

No one has anything against "constructive criticism", it is actually encouraged ... but it should not be suggested and incentivized

P.S. gl with the ban reduction appeal...  Smiley

If the only replies here are "good project" I can see this thread being trashed pretty soon...

It will harm you and the users who will post silly stuff here !

[...]
1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. ( Such posts as "SELL SELL SELL", "I agree", "+1", "Support", "Watching", "Interesting", "LOL", "SCAM", "LEGIT", "FAKE", other one word posts, posts consisting mostly of swearing, quote pyramids, useless introduction threads, threads about a topic already recently discussed in several other threads.)
2. No off-topic posts.
[...]
4. No referral code (ref link) spam.
[...]
15. No on-forum altcoin giveaways.

Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections. From now on, posting or replying to such threads could result in being banned. <...>

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.
<...>

[...]
32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.
712  Other / Meta / Re: Posts about things that belong in multiple places. Should there be a way to link on: September 18, 2019, 09:52:19 PM
IMO there are a few ways you might "work around it" but I do not agree it fits better in web wallets in the current form. Password managers are a service (free or paid) and you wanted to discuss about them....thus Service Discussion !
You might want to try:

1. Find one more relevant topic, like B&H and move your thread from time to time back and forth (common practice from what I saw)
Most users have some subscriptions to a news website or such and have easy access to that kind of info. That's why I suggested B&H section might be a good alternative.
2. Write the post different ! If you would have written some info about "web wallets and password managers" and also mention the LastPass issue (not that it is the first or definitely not the last) somewhere in the post I think you would have been good IMHO.

Making redirection topics is pure spam and making "approved standard" is not going to help either. Who decides what is that important to leave in 2-3 topics on the forum? Even the stickies are in their own place, not spammed everywhere...

Don't take me wrong... it clearly was a decent question with 100% intent to help the community but might not work that way TBH

Pacquiao, 50Cent, Floyd Mayweather etc are in the game just to capitalize and gain more money in their pockets. I don't see any value besides maybe crypto awareness.

The only "celeb" I have respect for in the crypto field is AKON.
...Yeah, the same guy with "Smack that" and "Lonely" seems to be knee deep in crypto projects all over Africa. To make electricity available for more and more Africans, helping millions and he's launching AKOIN. The project is to actually BUILD a city somewhere in Africa where payments are made 100% using crypto: https://www.investopedia.com/news/singer-akon-launch-cryptocurrency-akoin/

At least you can see a real value that will help actual people, not them and their friends.

the others are just one more shitcoin in my eyes ...

Bitcoin Processors (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) BitPay confirmed that they stopped their operations in Germany via email sent to Cointelegraph on August 1.

In the email mentioned above, a BitPay PR representative. Jan Jahosky, citing regulations which come into force next year in Germany, is the reason why the company decided to suspend services in the home country of Bayer Munich.

Meanwhile, the local information technology news outlet, Computer Base, announced earlier that it will not be able to offer Bitcoin as a payment method as a consequence of the BitPay suspension service in the country.

However, the outlet also acknowledged that most customers pay using PayPal, with some also using wire transfer, while Bitcoin does not appear to be a popular payment option. However, alternative open-source self-hosted payment processors do exist like BTCPay Server, which reduces dependency on third-party service providers

You should make new friends OP, as it really doesn't look good for Yoshinoya...

... Because I only registered on the site, I did not post any response about the site in the forum ...
Don't know how the website looks like but did you just registered on that site or had to download anything from there ? wallet, software, photo... Or was it just a password reuse problem ?
...just curious
718  Other / Meta / Re: Why cant I see the status of my previous reports? on: August 05, 2019, 12:57:24 PM
What I understand is that you need to have at least 300 good reports to see any list. Odds are, you still have not reached the threshold number. Keep reporting :-)
I have much over 300 good posts. I can also see unhandled reports. I am asking why cant I see the reports that have been handled. I think, I could see them a few months ago.

I think it's 350 from what I remember (good reports) . That's basically the only requirement...
And yes, shows report status for the last ~30 days. If you did not report anything in that time frame... empty list !
Happy reporting Smiley

hi
i want to know why my main account has been blocked from the forum although i have not done anything to break the rules

account link : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2194261

please reply ..

Hi there mr. blogger Smiley Seems that writing is not that profitable since you also need to participate in scam announcements

Quote from: simonmassie

If you don't remember posting that ^ ... you can safely say your account is compromised (infected wallet, miner ....etc). Reinstall OS, change passwords to email, exchange, forum, wallet etc and then drop an email to see what we can do.
All the best !

P.S. when informing another user of a similar issue I was asked why the hell would they use their account just to vet for a petty scam like that. Answer : I really don't know. Nothing better to steal I assume and since they are involved in this...why not.
Try to pay more attention to your own pc/mobile security, as it's essential in this crypto-space !
720  Other / Meta / Re: Writing a welcome message on: August 05, 2019, 09:30:31 AM
I would like to see this introduced in Bitcointalk forum.

Quiz/test knowledge messages can be used for:

- Registration  (to prevent bot/spam users asking them to read forum rules and basic Bitcoin faq, and then answer them)
- for Ranking Up  (extra way to rank up with answering quiz/test of knowledge)
- preventing users break forum rules (by educating them with quiz/test and rewarding with merit if they pass)

It can be useful for:

- educating users
- preventing spam/bots
- improving merit and ranking system
- improving Bitcointalk forum

This thought also passed my mind a while back tbh. It might help, tho I would assume it would only lead to a new service on the forum "pass quiz for you ! only $2 in BTC. GUARANTEED !!!" of "sell account with all quizzes passed with 10/10 " or "rank booster: will pass account rank quiz".
Tho your intentions are definitely honorable, might not have the full desired outcome.
Still up for debate tho Smiley
