701  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: August 30, 2023, 10:33:46 PM
PSV were incredible today. The second half was just totally different. I was waiting to see a close score at the end honestly. Because a similar scenario was happening to the previous season. Once again the first leg in Rangers' home ended up with a 2-2 draw. I thought the whole matchup would end very close.

However PSV were completely different in the second half today. They increased their tempo a lot and scored 4 more goals. A big destruction by 5-1 must be the best way to revenge on the previous season as well. But most importantly the fans must be really happy now.

PSV were in total control especially during the second half of the game. I particularly liked their first goal scored by a beautiful header. Rangers were completely destroyed as they conceded 5 goals and could only manage to score one goal later scored by the captain. I bet that goal had probably given the Rangers side a morale boost only to be crushed as PSV put in more goals to ultimately win the game.

Rangers also helped increase the tally with a costly mistake that resulted in an own goal. That goal helped seal PSV’s win as they won the game comfortably with 5 goals to Rangers 1. PSV were really impressive as they had lots of attempts at scoring goals and ultimately came out with the win. The game was really thrilling as it produced a lot of goals.
702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 30, 2023, 09:42:12 PM
I think Arsenal has a big chance to win that match because they are playing at home. It's the same as when they were held to a draw at Fulham last week, but basically they have to learn from that mistake to get maximum points against Manchester United this week. I have no doubts about the quality of Arsenal's players, but Ten Hag and his team will not be beaten easily either.

Probabilities suggest that Arsenal have home advantage which makes them favorites, but who knows maybe Manchester United will secure the 3 points. I'm counting on Arsenal to win despite their draw last week.

I too think Arsenal has a better chance of bagging the three points in the game with Manchester United. Asides the supposed advantage Arsenal may have playing at home, they’ve got a good squad as well as the determination towards winning the game. I too have little doubts about the quality of the players playing for Arsenal and I think they’ve got what it takes to play against Manchester United and come out the victor.

Personally, I’m hoping for a Man United win but I wouldn’t hold my breath. I think the game may have both teams each scoring a goal.
I doubt Arsenal is the favorites to win cause of playing at home. They’ve become much better and are looking good enough to win. But the game could go either way and Man United could as well go ahead and get the win.
703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hypothetical Question on: August 29, 2023, 11:41:44 PM
I would be skeptical as hell if someone had guaranteed a 100% chance of getting a win on a sports bet. And if I had 10k to play with, I may test the waters with about 1k. Taking out a loan would be out of the question as taking out a loan from the bank to gamble irrespective of how much of a guarantee I get.
I would be curious, no doubt and that’s why I just might be tempted to part with a little to place the bet on the so called guaranteed game.
Unless it’s a fixed game, i don’t see how it could be guaranteed a 100% to be a win.
704  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can money be saved in gambling sites? on: August 29, 2023, 10:31:30 PM

If the withdrawal fee is too high or the threshold amount to withdraw is too high, the gambler might actually just think of storing the coins inside the casino. Especially if he still plans to play over and over.

I think there’s a huge difference between saving your funds on your account in a gambling site and having some funds left on your account to play later on.
I’m yet to see any gambler, no matter how much he plays on a site actually save funds on same site. I think It’s only natural for someone who plays a lot to have some funds left in his account to be able to quickly and comfortably play later.
Someone noted earlier on this thread about saving on gambling sites is similar to saving on exchanges but only more dangerous and I agree. Your money saved under your mattress is safer than in a gambling site.
705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 29, 2023, 09:19:35 PM
Well, times have really changed and right now, I don't think Manchester United will be able to play that upper hand against Arsenal when they clash in just a few days from today, judging from their previous games in this season's EPL, even last season, Arsenal did way better than Man United, so I am personally expecting Arsenal to also do well this season as well, if possible, win the title, but this is if they will be strong enough to beat Manchester City which is their major contender, all the same, my fingers are crossed, let's see how it all plays out on the 3rd of September .

It may turn out to be a difficult game. Perhaps more difficult for Manchester United. Arsenal has greatly improved in form. Having played really well last season,, they’re great contenders for this seasons title win. I can’t exactly say that for Manchester United.
I’m hoping for a positive outcome for Manchester United but I won’t be holding my breath. Last season, Arsenal played a lot better than Man United and while this season is still very young, Arsenal has not lost any game. It’s a bit difficult to predict the outcome of the game but I think both teams may score. At the moment, Arsenal looks really promising and probably has more chances of winning the game.
706  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: August 29, 2023, 07:23:30 PM
He replaced the employees he had let go with bots? That’s news to me. I also don’t think Twitter usage has gone down as I think more people have, for a while been encouraged to join with the prospect of earning from the app. Asides all that, I do think Elons handling of the app has been not so good. If X, formerly known as Twitter hadn’t been as popular and used as well as doing so well before the new owners came along, X would have been by now been dead.
Before Elon bought the app, his engagements with other users was barely noticed. But now, he’s actively spouting his thoughts and opinions while his ass kissers eat it all up as truth.
707  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling should be play with care on: August 27, 2023, 11:51:32 PM
Stopping when you experience a losing streak is a good suggestion because apart from avoiding more losses, you can save money for tomorrow. If we can save the money today, we can immediately play gambling the next day without depositing any more money.

It’s a great suggestion. Despite suffering recurring losses, a lot of players still go ahead to play. In a lot of cases like that, they end up losing even more and then, with their tails between their legs and probably an empty pocket, they’ll have little choice than to head home.

When players aggressively chase their losses, they’ll be unrealistically optimistic about winning big. Big enough to cover up all the losses and more. But If we could maintain a clear head whenever playing, we would realize when to stop and head on home with money still left in your pockets hoping for a positive outcome another day.

Everton have only managed to escape relegation in the last two EPL seasons, they have started this one in the worst possible way as well, losing 3 games out of 3 and it looks like it is going to be another relegation battle for them, they might not be third time lucky this season and could actually drop to the Championship. The hierarchy at Everton isn't managing the club well, a drop to the Championship might actually be a wake-up call for them, but the season is still pretty long, so yeah.

It was a tight game that had almost ended with a draw. I had kept an open mind in this game as for me, I couldn’t directly predict a winner. Wolves as a team isn’t a walkover as they’ve given some top clubs a hard time. On the other hand, I did think Everton would go all in and try to claim their first win this season. And playing at home with the home crowd cheering them on should have been a good morale booster.
It was almost sad to see them lose another game that now has them resting comfortably at the bottom of the table. Fortunately, the season is still early enough for them to have a turn around and start winning games.
709  Economy / Economics / Re: How to avoid over expenses and have discipline on: August 27, 2023, 10:29:08 PM
You are right, it takes a lot of time to learn how to stay disciplined in all fields of life and not only with your finances, it takes a lot of time because you haven't been disciplined throughout your life and you all of a sudden feel the need of becoming disciplined because you see you are overspending and it is causing a lot of issues for you and your family in the long run since you are unable to have any savings or do anything extra like making an investment and stuff.

So, when you realize that, you will see yourself stuck in a pretty deep well of disorganized actions that you've been following throughout the years and now you want to get out of that will, you will definitely find it difficult to get out of it because you have already built a habit of doing all that.

Yes. I’m glad someone understands you don’t get disciplined overnight. It takes a lot of time along with regular practice and patience to be able to be consistent and in the long run, disciplined.
Sure, discipline is important and it would take some good level of discipline for an extravagant spender to quit spending funds on irrelevant things that are not needed.

But discipline can’t be instilled into anyone overnight. It’s a gradual and consistent process to get a little bit of discipline to curb any habit. In this case, spending on irrelevant things.
A middle income earner with an already disciplined mind would probably not be spending funds getting irrelevant things that are not really needed.
710  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 25, 2023, 01:48:03 PM
Critical game for Chelsea tonight against the newcomers in Premier League,Luton town, they need to win this game at all cost otherwise I am sure the Chelsea management will not get this well if Chelsea does not manage to win this at their home.In fact they should win this with a comfortable goals difference as in the first game at home they made Liverpool look like a team of the Championship so in theory a team like Luton should easily be beaten.

Chelsea won’t risk losing out on claiming this three points and would go all out to win the game despite playing with a much smaller team. They’ve had a poor start this season and obviously don’t want to continue in this form. Their recent defeat by West Ham would probably still be fresh on their minds and they would want to make up for that.
Not underestimating Luton Town in any way, but they’re in no form to match Chelsea. This game would hopefully see Chelsea winning and clinching all the points. It surely be humbling if Chelsea loses to Luton Town. Humiliating even when losing in front of your home crowd.
But I think despite all, Chelsea would win this game and perhaps comfortably too.
711  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can money be saved in gambling sites? on: August 25, 2023, 01:05:16 PM
If an individual doesn’t gamble, I would be more curious on what would prompt that individual to open an account on a gambling site and then think it’s safe to save your money on there. It’s almost crazy.
It’s much better to save your money in your fixed deposit account at your local bank than thinking of saving it on a gambling site. There are just many things that could go horribly wrong saving on a gambling site that could end up with you losing your funds.
It’s not advisable to save funds on gambling sites cause they’re there for entertainment purposes solely and not to safeguard anyone money.
712  Economy / Economics / Re: Having a problem a Personal Finance? on: August 25, 2023, 12:38:25 PM
Yeah, knowing the cause of the drain in you finances is a step to stopping that drain. People could read books about personal finances all year round and still won’t see any difference in his finances. Reading alone won’t do much but applying what you’ve understood to your own situation.
The forum mostly focuses on Bitcoin related news but also allows room for other discussions. So I think there could be better places to learn all about how to make better financial decisions.

Personally, I don’t see inspirational videos as anything that could help someone become better with finances. Hanging around people who has good realistic plans as well as better control of their finances would make more of an impact than watching inspirational videos and stuff.
713  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: They believe that Bitcoin is outdated due to a misunderstanding. on: August 24, 2023, 11:59:18 PM
Some people say Bitcoin is great to keep your money safe. I don't get that. A good way to keep your money safe means its value doesn't change much. But Bitcoin's value goes up and down a lot, so it's risky. Why trade the safety of government-backed insurance for something that can change so much?

The purchasing power of the paper money owned, printed and distributed by the government loses its value overtime and your money is guaranteed safe by the bank. So your notion that your asset retaining its value equals being safe isn’t totally true.
In the seemingly trusting hands of the government, you’ve given away custody of your funds. What then happens when the same trusted government blocks your account and restricts access to your money.
Bitcoin aims to spread the awareness that you can’t fully trust any institution to hold and safeguard your money. When you securely hold your money yourself, you’re in total control anytime.
714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 24, 2023, 11:25:11 PM

Lol, even though Chelsea managed to beat Luton but of course, that's not as a benchmark for Chelsea to be better. It's very funny if you make the parable for Chelsea playing against Luton to be a measure of success or revival for Chelsea. Because after all Luton is only a promoted team and of course, Luton does not have the quality that can be compared to Chelsea at all. So, if Chelsea manages to beat Luton, but that result cannot be a measure of success for Chelsea. However, if Chelsea fail to beat Luton, then of course that can be used as a benchmark for failure for Chelsea and also Pochettino this moment.

Sadly so. If Chelsea manages to secure a win, it wouldn’t mean much as Chelsea is seen as a much bigger and stronger club compared with Luton Town and are favored to win the game. This game can’t be a test of Chelsea’s determination to turn their luck around as Luton Town is small fish and shouldn’t be much of problem for Chelsea.
Now, if the underdog goes ahead to win the game, it would obviously be added and used to measure the failures and weakness of the club.
I think Chelsea would win and clinch the three points. They dare not lose to Luton Town in front of their home crowd. It would so humiliating.
715  Economy / Economics / Re: It ain't meant to be easy on: August 24, 2023, 10:47:49 PM
Actually, competition is good. That's what man lives for, whether we admit it or not. Remove competition in life, we won't have much to live for. What's not good is unnecessary competition. It's the same thing that happens with ambition. To be ambitious is okay, but to be vaulting ambitious is wrong.

A healthy competition in the society brings about innovation and growth. We would probably be stuck with the same ancient tech and ways of doing things without having a healthy competition. Remove competition from the society, we’ll be stuck with bland products everywhere width little or no alternatives to choose from.
Unhealthy competition on the other hand brings about strife and jealousy and would mostly be disastrous to both parties involved.
Unhealthy competition is more about bringing down a perceived competitor than attempting to do better and grow.
716  Economy / Economics / Re: How to avoid over expenses and have discipline on: August 24, 2023, 01:54:44 PM
Being careful in what to spend money on is not only about having a list of what you intend to buy at the mall or other narkets, what is important is being discipline. If you are not discipline then you could make some spendings not listed in your book because you allowed yourself to be distracted into something else. There is no rule that says if you have written something on a paper then you can't change the figures but it is discipline that will make you not to change it. Therefore someone who is discipline not to over spend outside his budget would not do that no matter the distraction.

Do you know being disciplined doesn't happen overnight? It's a process and there are steps you would have to take in order to be disciplined.
Having a list of what you need to purchase before going into the store is a step that helps the undisciplined individual try to remain focused on just the items on the list. Wouldn't you agree? Having a list with you when shopping so you wouldn't stray from the items listed is you literally trying to disciplined and careful on what you buy.

Someone who spends money always on irrelevant things can't overnight, become disciplined and strong willed about his spending habits.

Mason Mount's current performance in Manchester United isn't pleasing to watch and that's why fans of the club currently believe that his signing was a waste of resources.
But I think the England international will adapt to the playing style of the club in future time. He's trying to adapt to the playing pattern and philosophy of the club. Mount in my own opinion has the potentials to become a great signing for the red devils but needs more time to start displaying the best part of himat the club.

Surely not all fans of the club would think bring him in was a waste of funds. obviously, fans of the club would want their team to play better and can get really impatient when their expectations aren't met.
He should be spared from all the negative comments as it's just too early to judge and condemn him to be a waste of resources. Hopefully time to fully settle in ibefkre he starts dazzling is what he really needs. He would have lots of games to prove himself. Hopefully he does. The sooner, the better. I would hate to join others later on and start thinking he's a waste of resources.
718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos Should Also Be Prepared For Health Emergencies on: August 23, 2023, 11:59:11 PM
The dealer in the story should be prosecuted also for negligence by the casino where the incident happened.  I do believe he/she was in a vantage position to clearly observe the composure of everyone playing on the table and should have been the first responder.

Why should the dealer be held accountable for anything? The dealer was doing what he was supposed to do and that’s to deal cards. What about the other people sitting at the table or even the person sitting right next to him? Why not hold them all liable and also move to prosecute them
The dealer wasn’t negligent as it’s not in the job description to babysit people who come in to play. It’s really sad the man went unnoticed for a while and died but the dealer shouldn’t be blamed for anything.

PSV didn't win and that was a big disappointment for me. I really expected them to do a lot better and I was disappointed with the result. I get that it's not that easy to get a win at UCL and they may end up getting the win next game and then go to group stages, but I really expected them to play better defensively.

There is nothing wrong with their offense, they scored 2 goals and that's fine, but the fact that Rangers scored two goals as well shows the void in PSV defense and they need to do a better job there. In any case, there is one more game to bet, and I will keep on betting PSV to win as well, can't say if I will be right or wrong but I will certainly hope that they will do their best and get that win.

I too was expecting a win from PSV and I definitely wasn’t expecting them to concede two goals as well. It is clear they had a defense that was wanting and it’s a good thing they still scored a late goal to equalize the score line and finally end the game with a draw. A draw is always welcomed instead of a loss
The game was quite thrilling as it had produced goals from both sides. PSV would have narrowly lost the game despite having played better than their opponents.
Rangers didn’t have much of the ball in their possession as PSV was majorly in control of the ball but they still managed to score two goals. Perhaps, playing at home with the home crowd cheering them on was pretty motivating.
720  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think privacy is important for a beginner? on: August 23, 2023, 07:42:36 PM
I  did think the question asked in your heading was rhetorical. I think privacy is important for everyone as not all information should be shared and available for everyone to access.
Privacy doesn’t necessarily mean going off the grid, moving to some remote location with no human presence, technology bearing plans to live off the land hunting and stuff.

Privacy is also a personal choice and responsibility that is primarily left to the individual. Not everyone is aware of how important privacy is or probably don’t care much about what information is put out there.
About CBDCs, there’s little we could about them when it’s fully adopted and used. You would just have to be extra careful on what is purchased whenever using them.

Despite all the methods aimed at harvesting information about people, we could on our part, try to be mindful of the information shared with others. Some harmless bits of information here and there could together,  in the wrong hands, not be so harmless anymore.
