701  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: November 18, 2023, 09:15:10 AM

For the first time in the last five months, other Bangladeshi locals were able to beat me. Usually, I was too active in our local thread, but recently, I had to cool down due to massive spam in our local thread. We Bangladeshi people have been expecting a local board for a long time now, and we are trying hard to improve the quality.

But instead, we got dozens of spammers who copy-paste news and write nonsense and started abusing the system. I felt like I should step down slowly from there as some other senior members already stepping down. Thanks for the chart Rikafip.

Grin

Roll Eyes

Little Mouse, Shasan , Crypto Library

703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An easy approach to Bitcoin on: November 18, 2023, 08:46:04 AM
There you go. Once again, there is another thread about how you can teach your kids about Bitcoin, and people started using the Learn Bitcoin word, and I started getting notifications. Can't we search if a similar thread was created before or not? Most of the time, we discuss the same thing we discussed a few weeks ago.

This is not the first nor the last time. We are going to see similar threads in the future as well. Can you guys please pay more attention in the  board before you create another thread to discuss same thing?
704  Local / Other languages/locations / Re: বাংলাদেশ (Bengali) on: November 17, 2023, 02:30:49 PM

Little Mouse ক্যাম্পেইন ম্যানেজার।

cryptoWODL, 2Pizza410000BTC, roksana.hee, HelliumZ , Out of mind, Essential10, Nothingtodo, Bitcoin_people, synchronym, Gulttam2a2, Synonyms, Bd officer, Fuso.hp, Littlemini

Congratulations 🎉
@Bitcoin_people

705  Economy / Economics / Re: How Much Does Food Cost in Your Country? on: November 17, 2023, 09:47:54 AM
In Indonesia.

Average income: $200

Cost of living:
1. House rent (including utility bills): $65
2. Transportation: $10-$30
3. Food: $60-$100

All calculations per month, the cost of the standard meal is around $0.64-$1.28 which usually you will get rice, fried chicken, some vegetables, and iced tea.

Wow!
Is it for one person? The meal seems affordable for everyone. But I believe it varies from place to place. Is it the cost in a restaurant or does it cost when someone ready it at home?

I want to share my meal cost in my country. If we cook everything at home, a standard meal costs around $1.5 per person. But if I buy the same food from a standard restaurant, the same meal costs around $3.5-$5. That includes Rice, water, beef, fish and some sauce and salad.

The living cost depends on in which city you are in. It starts from $20 up to $500. Standard houses in the capital city cost around $300.
706  Economy / Economics / Re: Small Scale Business Ideas on: November 17, 2023, 09:24:23 AM
1. A young entrepreneur can get capital from friends
2.From some micro finance banks
3.From government depending On the level of the proposed investment.
4.Family can also assist if the project is small scale business .

It's not that easy how you mentioned the things here. Friends barely trust young entrepreneurs without any experience. For example, let's say I want to open a shop and I ask my friends to help me with some money. Most of them will deny it because I don't have experience in this field. Microfinance NGOs does not give loan to any start-up. They give loans to existing businesses only. For example, you have a shop and you have to show them it to get a loan. They won't give you a loan to start your business. If you talk about loans from governments, it's impossible in my country. I have never seen anyone getting a loan from the government. I never heard about it. I don't know if it exists or not.

What a detailed thread mate, I appreciate it. It will be a go-to thread for anyone who wants to do PGP Signature on Android. Clean, concise, and enough screenshots to follow for each step.
I always love threads like these on the forum, with proper formatting and concise to-the-point text.
Thank you very much! This is the best comment I have got so far from this forum. I was amazed by your comment, which will motivate me to write about such topics in the future. As you can see, I have written two more tutorials before, but I do not see any genuine interest from forum users. Either they do not understand the importance of learning PGP or just ignore it. I thought it was a lack of writing.

I do not have a MAC or iPhone to test PGP on those devices.
Can you use any Virtual Machine (VMWare) to test for Mac? I think you can do that easily by installing MacOS.

I guess I can do it. But as I said above, I do not see much interest from forum members  Embarrassed
708  Economy / Reputation / Re: People not reading page 1 comments compilation thread. on: November 17, 2023, 12:56:21 AM
I don't know how many of us read all the comments from the first page before writing our thoughts. Let's talk about mine. I always try to read the OP; if it's interesting, I quote it and write my opinion. Yes, I also checked if similar comments were made or not. But as you understand, it's impossible to check those pages. But when it comes to reading the first page of replies, I do that. But still, sometimes we miss the answer that was in front of our eyes. I suggest others read before they post, yet I do the same thing and laugh at my own when I understand. This is a common mistake.
709  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why Localbitcoin take this action ? on: November 16, 2023, 02:49:28 PM
Base on google, this is their reasons.

I have posted this when they announced that they will stop operating. Based on their own statement;

Why is localbitcoins terminating the service?

Localbitcoins trading volumes have been declining for a long time, and there is no big enough market demand for our services anymore.

@OP, you can use https://localmonero.co/ and https://agoradesk.com/

Damn LoyceV, You did not notice the plagiarism here.
Sorry, I missed this one.
It's okay. But I thought your AI always worked even better than the real AI.  Cheesy Cheesy

That explains why he posted "he needs 15 more". I thought referring to himself as "he" was just his lack of English skills.
That's what happens when someone copy paste and does not ven read carefully what is he pasting. I always wanted to guide them in our local thread by pointing out their mistakes and tried to help them every possible way. Unfortunately, that did not worked well.

Thanks for the post review as well.

711  Other / Meta / Re: What happened to BPIP? on: November 16, 2023, 08:21:16 AM
Both of you should get a serious internet connection and not "borrow" from your neighbour  Wink
It works fine by my side, although I agree that it can be a bit faster, but it's still ok now.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I can't complain about your complaint  Grin
It's also true that I do not use a faster internet connection. But most other website works for me. I get a special speed from my ISP for specific websites like YouTube and Facebook. Here, we call it BDIX speed. I converted the BDIX speed into Raw speed with some tools to get fast internet. Sometimes, it works, and sometimes, it doesn't. But we all agree that BPIP could be faster than how it's loaded now.

You're welcome, Vod.
Indeed, I didn't get anything you said about theymos and OGnasty. I have seen another thread. But I am not old an old timer to understand these things.
712  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary Members Spread Completely Fake Information - Merit System Do Not Work on: November 16, 2023, 08:09:30 AM
At learn bitcoin he was dissing badecker. Baddecker has a lot of real merits.

As you can see, I meant it for the legendaries who did not earn many merits in their forum life. I was giving him an Idea that even though they are Legendary members, it does not mean all of them are knowledgeable enough. I have seen a lot of Legendary accounts that failed to earn 100 merits in the last five years. They have lower credibility than a Full member who earned 100 Merits in the new era.

Now, if you talk about Badecker, he has earned around 355 merits after the air-dropped merits. Now, look at the number of posts he made in this forum. It's almost 40K. Earning 355 merits against nearly 40K posts is not too much. I am going to hit 1600 Posts this week, and I have earned almost 500 merits, and I still think sometimes I write shit.

Sorry LoyceV, I know the rules that the post must be unmerited. But I am submitting some good posts for review.
You were on my ignore list already, and you have a neutral tag for shitposting. The only English post that you linked is a contest entry, the rest I can't read. I've deleted your post:

Damn LoyceV, You did not notice the plagiarism here. What a shit poster he is. He just copied and pasted what I posted in this thread over six months ago. You just deleted the proof of his plagiarism  Tongue

Sorry LoyceV, I know the rules that the post must be unmerited. But I am telling you, he has many unmerited posts in our local thread. But I decided not to post them here because I don't think Global members can evaluate them.

Instead, , I am submitting some good posts for review. He needs a few more merits (28 more) for his next rank (Hero Member)

Now this;

Sorry LoyceV, I know the rules that the post must be unmerited. But I am submitting some good posts for review. He needs a few more merits (15 more) for his next rank (Full Member)

I stopped meriting them once I understood this is a part of an alt firm. Look at the merit pattern and you will understand who is who and what I am talking about.

I've been slacking (and ill), and my source sMerits keep building up. I'm planning to do this:

I will also merit genuine reported posts. I have more than 1700 sMerits, excluding my monthly merit source income.

Consider dumping some in these topics if it is worth  Cheesy Cheesy

Congratulations on the achievement. You already have 2000 activities and lack the merits to reach the next rank. I hope you will reach the highest rank very soon. But I guess you do not really have much time joining usual conversation because stake pays more for posting on gambling boards where it's impossible to earn merits no matter how good you writes.

Unfortunately, you missed the activity number for the legendary member, which is often random
A little correction. He has over 2000 activities at this moment. But he lacks merits for now. He needs another 47 merits to rank up.

Hi BitcoinTalk!

So far, I have written two PGP tutorials, and those are for Linux and Windows users. But I was wondering if there are any apps for Android users. Most of my local users use Android devices. So, here I am with another PGP thread, and I guess this is the last one. I do not have a MAC or iPhone to test PGP on those devices.

Why are you looking for it in the first place?

It's already explained, that he doesn't want to touch the amount until a period of time.

Are you scared that you might panic and sell your BTC?
That's possible. Most people did this during the bull run and the bear market as well.

If you won't solve the issue things like that won't help you.
What he should fix? I don't think this is any kind of issue. I also had similar issues before. I was kind of addicted to gambling, and I was spending my Bitcoin. So, locking Bitcoin is a good solution. What issues do you see here?

718  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you rather make your investments in FIAT or CRYPTO? on: November 15, 2023, 09:14:36 AM
The crypto market has a high level of volatility. Anyone who is about to make an investment needs to have a good understanding of the volatile market. Now the question is, even with volatility, will you still choose to make your investment in fiat through bank savings with regular monthly interests or rather make your investments in crypto where you hold your asset and still have the opportunity to save and make monthly interest?

It simply does not make sense to invest in fiat currency for me. I live in a country where my local currency value was 78 BDT per USD about two years ago. Now it's 120 BDT against the USD, and I am afraid it will increase further. All my holdings are in Bitcoin at this moment, and I will accept the lose as well because it has the potential to give me 2x profit in the next couple of months.

I can cash this Bitcoin anytime and If I sell my converted USD for Local currency, I will likely get a better exchange rate because of the inflation. Things could be different in your country. But investing fiat is big NO NO from me.

So what can I do, if I for example have some btc and I want to make it inaccessible for anybody (even me) for let's say 1 month or whatever period of time. Basically "staking" without the reward.

TryNinja explained so well in one thread, and I believe this is what you were looking for. Not only you but many others have an issue with controlling themself. There was a time when I always thought I would hold my Bitcoin and won't spend it. But most of the time I ended up spending them on gambling purposes. So, I wanted to lock my btc for a while, and I found this post by TryNinja which explains how I can lock my Bitcoin until a certain block. There is a more detailed version in steemit; https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@daan/how-to-create-time-locked-transactions-with-bitcoin-free-bitcoins-inside

You can use Coinbin to do that. I had one a few months ago and it's quite easy to create/spend your coins after the chosen period.

To create the Time Locked Address:
1. Go to Coinb.in;
2. New -> Time Locked Address.
3. Enter your address public key (the one you require to sign the transaction and be able to spend the coins);
4. Enter the date-time or blockheight you want to release the coins.
5. Submit and save the Redeem Script (don't lose that or you won't be able to spend your coins in the future);
6. Send the coins you want to keep locked to the Address generated.

After the chosen period, you will be able to spend your coins.
1. Go to Coinb.in;
2. New -> Transaction;
3. Paste your Redeem Script and click Load (it's going to show every input available to be spent);
4. Paste the address you want to send the coins to at the "Address" field and the amount in the "Amount" field. The remaining funds will be used as fee. E.g: If your address has 0.015BTC, you can put 0.014BTC in the "Amount" field and the fee will be 0.001BTC (0.015 - 0.014);
5. Submit and copy the raw transaction;
6. Go to the "Sign" tab (at Coinb.in);
7. Paste the private key from the address you choose when creating the Time Locked Address.
8. Paste the raw transaction you just created.
9. Submit, copy the signed transaction and push it to the network (you can do it in the Broadcast tab).
10. Transaction sent!

It happened again.

I visit the site, it whirrs for about 20 seconds, then give a 500 error.   If I then try to reload it works fine.

BPIP was never too fast for me. Sometimes it takes over a minute to end the loading page for me. Sometimes I can't access the website, and I need to refresh the page a couple of times to access it. I thought it was my ISP or maybe it's happened to me only. Sometimes BPIP extension does not work for me either. Sometimes it shows incorrect data (Probably because of the scrapper blocking issues).

Anyways, welcome back Vod. Sometimes, I have seen your posts in some random old threads. Nice to see you came back to show us you're licking your boobs  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
