701  Other / Meta / Re: Crypto related stuff in non altcoins board on: May 10, 2018, 07:23:08 PM
For me it's very annoying to see so many topics about bounties, airdrops and similar altcoin related stuff in Beginners & help board, but I think this board fits best to make such threads. It doesn't belongs to Bitcoin board, it's under word "Other". It's something similar like we are allowed to talk about altcoins in Serious discussion board which is located bellow Beginners and help board.

No, afaik everything related to cryptocurrencies should be kept in the alternate cryptocurrencies board. For example, in the local boards you don't have the right to make topics for ANN/bounties if there is no dedicated altcoin sub.
The rules aren't strictly applied by mods for several reasons (lack of staff, lack of reports...) but seeing many altcoins topics in non alternate cryptocurrencies board doesn't mean it is allowed.
That's why I suggested once to regroup press, legal, meetups, politics and society, off-topic under new board "society" where you can mix Bitcoin with altcoins.
702  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-10] BTC Wallet Electrum: ‘Bitcoin-stealing Malware’! on: May 10, 2018, 06:21:33 PM
Now this is an important news. I wasn't aware of this scammy shit and probably many users could fall on it if they didn't concentrate a little bit.
While searching for electrum, the scam didn't appear but if you add dot com it will be the first result...
Should be mass reported to avoid scam.
Edit : reported to Google.
703  Other / Meta / Re: Why is reference to "bitcointalk.org" triggering a filter in Wikipedia? on: May 10, 2018, 01:14:21 PM
Bitcointalk.org is banned WITHIN Wikipedia. If you try to add a link to the forum as reference when editing any article a message will pop-up saying it's banned. I'll add an image to the OP to make it more clear.

I don't know if this could lead to a ban or not in Wikipedia but if it could be tested and removed after, could you try to put a mirror link for bitcointalk.org (bitcointa.lk for example?) and check if it isn't allowed too? or you can check any other forums or even reddit.com/r/bitcoin.

Edit : i am aware that mirrors are phishing sites, what i meant is to see if only bitcointalk.org is blocked or every crypto forums (mirrors or even forum.bitcoin dot com) ofc before seeing the blacklist.
704  Other / Meta / Re: Report to the moderator -Deserve some rewards on: May 09, 2018, 11:57:15 PM
RAMSHIVDEEPAK you got the answer from theymos so no need to keep this post open.
Bottom of the page, left corner and lock topic.

706  Other / Meta / Crypto related stuff in non altcoins board on: May 09, 2018, 07:00:21 PM
So, there were a discussion yesterday about the press section and how the news there should be related only to bitcoin.
While visiting today beginners and help sub, i found that ~50% of the topics' titles containing crypto/airdrop/bounty/tokens...which i assume that these kinds of topics aren't allowed there, no? It fits better in altcoin discussion tho.

I just reported 2 spammy ads topics, however I don't think that I will report the others since I am a little bit tolerant to see such stuff in few subs (not all ofc). Same goes for altcoins faucets in micro-earning, few topics in legal & meetups talking about cryptocurrencies in general and some specific alt.
So, what's the best solution(s)? Clear rules maybe?
707  Other / Meta / Re: Analysis of Deleted Posts with sMerit on: May 09, 2018, 06:21:23 PM
-snip-

Well, it depends from the merit source. From what I understand, some of them are exploring several parts of the forums and distributing smerit to the best posters. Others are mainly local orientated smerit sources, of course they can give smerit to everyone but local posters are their target.
I don't look at the Russian board to judge xandry behaviour very well but if someone is suspecting misconduct of anon xandry, you can pm theymos to inspect his actions.
708  Other / Meta / Re: Analysis of Deleted Posts with sMerit on: May 09, 2018, 03:53:59 PM
As you noted, xandry is the most special case
-snip-
.However, it is not clear why he/she needs to send merit so frequently
-snip-

He is a source, charged to distribute smerit mainly in his local board which is Russian.
(This information may be inaccurate of course since it is based on my personal analysis).
BTW, nice stats DdmrDdmr
709  Other / Meta / Re: Report to the moderator -Deserve some rewards on: May 09, 2018, 03:41:40 PM
... and then the abusers start working with two type of bots instead of one , one for spamming the other for reporting, perfectly working system, ico bumping, developing accounts for sale and getting rewards for reporting.

Soon people will request payment for every hour spent on bitcointalk...

@OP : There are mods dedicated for busting abusers, if users want to report infringements, they are welcome.

The best reward can be the report rate listed under merit score.
Now this is an interesting suggestion. It might be a good feature.

Edit :
Last time I said that I'm going to report a lot in order to become a mod, they tagged m...
Seeing the negative trust, well, i don't see what is the relation between the two things.
710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: crypto currencies(bitcoin) criminals on: May 08, 2018, 05:23:57 PM
Hello i would like to know any opinions about my questions

it would be thankful to leave your name for the just records. Smiley Smiley
Those are my questions!

10. Do you know any criminal cases related to the crypto currencies? Can you tell about it?

11. Do you have any idea about how to build your own bitcoin exchange?

12. Did u ever trade bit coin before? Did u ever think is the exchange trustworthy or not? Tell me your experiences and opinions.

13. Do you know any common methods of bit coin hacking? How it happens? And how to prevent it?

14. Do you know any regulations that are set in Malaysia about crypto currencies? If not any other countries? (i.e legal protection for victims, Regulation on money laundering and terror funding for virtual currency exchanges)

Thank you for participiating!

Are you preparing a school project?
Most of the answers could be found using the in-forum research or Google tho.

10. Criminal cases? I don't know if silk road, Mt.Gox, butterfly lab, exchanges hacking...counts or not?

11. Creating exchanges needs materials which isn't hard to find and a good team which is a little bit delicate to find. Once you have both then it shouldn't be hard to create an exchanges imo.

711  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [07-04-2018] Cryptocurrency will come to Bad Endings, Says Warren Buffet on: May 08, 2018, 02:40:39 PM
At the annual meeting of his company on Saturday, the 5th of May, Warren Buffet, the billionaire investor and Berkshire Hathaway’s Chairman and CEO reiterated his negative stance towards cryptocurrencies. According to CNBC, Buffet repeated his idea that cryptocurrencies will come to a ‘bad ending’, and claimed that Bitcoin BTC is probably rat poison squared.

Fix the month in the title and better to follow the form used by everyone "2018-05-07"

Code:
trading in cryptocurrencies is ‘just dementia’.
Yeah, dementia they said, people become millionnaires from it...haters gonna hate.
712  Other / Meta / Re: Could we have news/article section only for news and articles? on: May 08, 2018, 01:33:41 PM
-snip-

Jeff is absent from more than two months which could explain partially why some topics aren't deleted, and I think it depends also from the mod dealing with the reports, maybe some of them don't mind seeing crypto related news in the press section.
I don't know theymos opinion, but personally I think that this section should be opened to the crypto-related news. Maybe putting it in /other or regroup press/legal/meetups/off-topic/politics and society under one board ("society") could be better?
713  Other / Meta / Re: Bounty manager (staff & merit source!) Anon11073 embezzling $4000 on: May 08, 2018, 12:12:38 AM
No one can rehabilitate him... why is he still a merit source (and staff and bounty manager)?

"We" do not have a better user to take his place so let's just keep him, he "may" improves? Better than removing the whole Japanese board...
Code : Run4cash
Decrypt it, you will find : fail. Epic fail.
He has to look outside the ICOs' box to see the real btctalk world.
714  Other / Meta / Re: Another idea to get rid of the shitposts, but a different way... on: May 07, 2018, 11:57:49 PM
-snip-

This is similar to Danny Hamilton list where he put spammers on it and it finally included everyone having a signature.
Afaik, you can import it manually to your ignore list but expect to see the word ignore more than Bitcoin itself.

SMAS is better but i don't think it contains every bounty spammer.
715  Other / Meta / Re: Could we have news/article section only for news and articles? on: May 07, 2018, 08:00:26 PM
-snip-

Like in the real world, there is BBC, CNN, France24, Aljazeera, ABC or sky news... I can visit it all but this will take much time so what I am actually doing is visiting a forum that offers the most important local & international news and its sources.
I don't know if the press section should only be limited to Bitcoin. If I compare it to legal or meetups subs, both could be merged in the main discussion board imo.
I respect your idea and I am aware of what is happening in this sub but regulation is the solution, we need to impose rules and let the community report infringements.
716  Other / Meta / Re: Could we have news/article section only for news and articles? on: May 07, 2018, 02:52:59 PM
Press section should be locked/archived in my opinion. More hassle than it's worth these days with people just posting any article that vaguely mentions something to do with crypto. It's mostly just alt spam anyway and a place sig spammers can get away with legally copy and pasting.

Definitely no.
Press section is the only place where i personally get informations related to cryptocurrencies. I do not visit directly news site, i read the headlines, pick what it seems to be interesting and read the summary in btctalk then continue reading the rest in the news sites.
Impose regulation is recommend. I prefer max 3 articles/topics per user per day. Duplicated topics aren't allowed even from different source, you can post it inside the first topic and mentioning what was added comparing to the first one (i used to report some of the duplicated posts in the past).
717  Other / Meta / Re: Fake profiles joining old/closed bounties for some reason. on: May 07, 2018, 02:43:07 PM
Here are two examples of users, "joining" old /closed/ bounties with non-existent facebook/twitter profiles.

You can report each case separately and expect to be neglected, then you can write a warning so the mod can come and delete your post, you can always try again it may works...
I may be sometimes abusing the use of the sentence "close the topic" but it is the only solution to stop the necro spam...
718  Other / Meta / How many user perma-banned here? on: May 07, 2018, 12:25:58 AM
I don't think this information could be found anywhere nor it suppose to be secret.
After seeing h&co banning 15 (in 1) idiot, I am a little bit curious to know how many users have been permanently banned and if possible how many users received at least 1 temp ban.
Another optional request, is there a way to know how many users stopped connecting after month/day/year?
Thanks.

Ps : yeah, I used search functionality before posting here.
719  Other / Meta / Re: Share your thoughts : sMerit Review, Rank-Up Challenge, Signatureless Campaign on: May 07, 2018, 12:10:18 AM
Hilarious isn't wrong in his decision, your topic belong in beginners and help board.
Merit shouldn't be seen as a giveaway imo even if it looks like it, so no, Games and rounds isn't the perfect place for your topic.
Off-topic, definitely no.
Beginners and help, obviously its name is self explanatory.
720  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 24-Apr-2018] on: May 06, 2018, 10:01:36 PM
I think that you should mention in IBIN that it will run for 1 week only (it is written in their rules, the last one exactly) : f/w --> 1 week
