For me it's very annoying to see so many topics about bounties, airdrops and similar altcoin related stuff in Beginners & help board, but I think this board fits best to make such threads. It doesn't belongs to Bitcoin board, it's under word "Other". It's something similar like we are allowed to talk about altcoins in Serious discussion board which is located bellow Beginners and help board.
No, afaik everything related to cryptocurrencies should be kept in the alternate cryptocurrencies board. For example, in the local boards you don't have the right to make topics for ANN/bounties if there is no dedicated altcoin sub. The rules aren't strictly applied by mods for several reasons (lack of staff, lack of reports...) but seeing many altcoins topics in non alternate cryptocurrencies board doesn't mean it is allowed. That's why I suggested once to regroup press, legal, meetups, politics and society, off-topic under new board "society" where you can mix Bitcoin with altcoins. |

Now this is an important news. I wasn't aware of this scammy shit and probably many users could fall on it if they didn't concentrate a little bit.
While searching for electrum, the scam didn't appear but if you add dot com it will be the first result...
Should be mass reported to avoid scam.

Bitcointalk.org is banned WITHIN Wikipedia. If you try to add a link to the forum as reference when editing any article a message will pop-up saying it's banned. I'll add an image to the OP to make it more clear.
I don't know if this could lead to a ban or not in Wikipedia but if it could be tested and removed after, could you try to put a mirror link for bitcointalk.org (bitcointa.lk for example?) and check if it isn't allowed too? or you can check any other forums or even reddit.com/r/bitcoin. Edit : i am aware that mirrors are phishing sites, what i meant is to see if only bitcointalk.org is blocked or every crypto forums (mirrors or even forum.bitcoin dot com) ofc before seeing the blacklist. |

So, there were a discussion yesterday about the press section and how the news there should be related only to bitcoin. While visiting today beginners and help sub, i found that ~50% of the topics' titles containing crypto/airdrop/bounty/tokens...which i assume that these kinds of topics aren't allowed there, no? It fits better in altcoin discussion tho.  I just reported 2 spammy ads topics, however I don't think that I will report the others since I am a little bit tolerant to see such stuff in few subs (not all ofc). Same goes for altcoins faucets in micro-earning, few topics in legal & meetups talking about cryptocurrencies in general and some specific alt. So, what's the best solution(s)? Clear rules maybe? |

Well, it depends from the merit source. From what I understand, some of them are exploring several parts of the forums and distributing smerit to the best posters. Others are mainly local orientated smerit sources, of course they can give smerit to everyone but local posters are their target. I don't look at the Russian board to judge xandry behaviour very well but if someone is suspecting misconduct of anon xandry, you can pm theymos to inspect his actions. |

... and then the abusers start working with two type of bots instead of one , one for spamming the other for reporting, perfectly working system, ico bumping, developing accounts for sale and getting rewards for reporting.
Soon people will request payment for every hour spent on bitcointalk... @OP : There are mods dedicated for busting abusers, if users want to report infringements, they are welcome. The best reward can be the report rate listed under merit score.

This is similar to Danny Hamilton list where he put spammers on it and it finally included everyone having a signature. Afaik, you can import it manually to your ignore list but expect to see the word ignore more than Bitcoin itself.
SMAS is better but i don't think it contains every bounty spammer. |

Like in the real world, there is BBC, CNN, France24, Aljazeera, ABC or sky news... I can visit it all but this will take much time so what I am actually doing is visiting a forum that offers the most important local & international news and its sources. I don't know if the press section should only be limited to Bitcoin. If I compare it to legal or meetups subs, both could be merged in the main discussion board imo. I respect your idea and I am aware of what is happening in this sub but regulation is the solution, we need to impose rules and let the community report infringements. |

Press section should be locked/archived in my opinion. More hassle than it's worth these days with people just posting any article that vaguely mentions something to do with crypto. It's mostly just alt spam anyway and a place sig spammers can get away with legally copy and pasting.
Definitely no. Press section is the only place where i personally get informations related to cryptocurrencies. I do not visit directly news site, i read the headlines, pick what it seems to be interesting and read the summary in btctalk then continue reading the rest in the news sites. Impose regulation is recommend. I prefer max 3 articles/topics per user per day. Duplicated topics aren't allowed even from different source, you can post it inside the first topic and mentioning what was added comparing to the first one (i used to report some of the duplicated posts in the past). |

Here are two examples of users, "joining" old /closed/ bounties with non-existent facebook/twitter profiles.
You can report each case separately and expect to be neglected, then you can write a warning so the mod can come and delete your post, you can always try again it may works... I may be sometimes abusing the use of the sentence "close the topic" but it is the only solution to stop the necro spam... |

I don't think this information could be found anywhere nor it suppose to be secret.
After seeing h&co banning 15 (in 1) idiot, I am a little bit curious to know how many users have been permanently banned and if possible how many users received at least 1 temp ban.
Another optional request, is there a way to know how many users stopped connecting after month/day/year?
