We have 5 days more till the KMD distribution. By that time hopefully wallet is ready for download.

This week we managed to fix the windows bug referred as 'pm2' bug. Thus we got the windows version of Iguana working too.

We quietly released it as beta version last Tuesday. Now Satinder is working hard to fix all the bugs we come across, and people are testing it on the #iguana channel.

hi there,
how can I swap BTCD from my wallet via private key?
I had them in my wallet before the snapshot.
Isn't this option available yet?
I couldn't find a way to import my private key on the ICO-Site Tongue

If you had the BTCD in your wallet before the snapshot date, then you can later use the BTCD privatekey to access REVS.

Now you can just proceed to swap it for KMD. Just go to our ICO website and follow instructions. Note: do not send your BTCD to a KMD address! Go to the 'swap' tab.

You can't import the privatekey into the ICO site, you will have to send the BTCD into the BTCD address you get, and then you will receive KMD in return.
So I could swap the BTCD now on the ICO site and import the privat key later on another setup to get the REVs
or
wait til there's an option to send the BTCD to an BTCD-address hold by the devs to do the swap to Komodo and the claiming of the REVs in one step?
They are two different things.

So yes, you can swap the BTCD now and then later (even years later) you can access the REVS with the BTCD passphrase. We will simply distribute the REVS to an address that you hold keys into (the BTCD privatekeys).

1. swap BTCD now to KMD
2. after we distribute REVS you can access it anytime

Looking for native Spanish/Russian/Chinese speakers. The job is to proofread articles, we will pay a small bounty. Preferably you could also translate texts if needed (we pay per word).

Send a PM if you are interested.

Hope that those I voted can deliver the services that Komodo platform needed. They are really the ones who will maintain the integrity of the network.  Somehow I really envy them but I guess they will do their job really well.

No need to envy them,  there are many other ways us mortals can help this project succeed. It badly needs marketing...

We have a big marketing update/plan coming, no worries. You will have it before KMD gets distributed.

Is there a fix exchange-rate how much REV-Shares i get from my swapped BTCD, or is it flex how much BTCD where swapped at 15th  Jan?

....have you still caalculated the rate ? (And of course very interesting, how much REV's will be availibel, and how much are going to the BTCD-Swapper ?)  ...i know it still tales a few month till we get the Shares, ....so no hurry, i'm only interrested Wink
1:1

REVS should be distributed in Feb

Thx for your fast answer Smiley

...i thought the REVs will be dispriputed in 2018 ...so nice to read ,;)
I could distribute the REVS in local wallets at any time by running: https://github.com/jl777/komodo/blob/master/src/REVS.snapshot

but I am waiting for a list from the ICO swap site with (KMD address, amount) so I can do it all at once. The issue is that many people dont have a KMD address generated and nobody has locked the destination address yet, as that feature is still being developed.

So we are just waiting for the official list of amounts. I estimate it will take me a few hours after I get the list to distribute it
If REVs distribution is manual, how would people holding BTCD in their wallets claim them in say 2-3 months from now?

REVS is a separate chain with same addresses. After distribution tokens will wait for their owners on same addresses BTCD was. the People just need to import exactly same private keys into REVS.

Yes that's right. There's nothing left to do to claim REVS. If you
 - deposited BTCD to the ICO site you will need the seed to access REVS
 - had them in your local wallet you will need your BTCD privatekey to access REVS

In any case, they will be there in an address, and only you have the privatekey/seed.

Hi Dev, Will there be a web wallet for Komodo coin; some investors don't like to download the desktop wallet; they usually have a syncing problem, or it takes awhile to sync.

                           Wink Cheesy

There's no webwallet in development. However we do have the basilisk mode, which is a lightweight wallet where you don't download any blockchain.

This is an open source project though, so anyone could develop a webwallet... or anything, basically Smiley

I am extremely troubled... for some reason I don't have the KomodoPlatform 2FA on my fone anymore.... how can I retrieve my account... any help ?  Cry

Did you backup the code you got when you started using the 2FA? The app shows a backup code for each site when you first enable the 2FA.

I didn't... I feel very stupid now... Google advises that the website admin only can help

Ok, please contact @audo on SuperNET Slack and we will short it out.

I'm sorry but you are all making it too complicated and convoluted, how will you attract non-technical users and 'normal' people? @jl777 complaining that you didn't raise enough? with 2600BTC+ = $2,300,000,-

Most coin project are able to release all sorts for less than that and then you talk about easy install wallets? Thats a given that you should be able to download a wallet for KMD that just installs and just works. There shouldn't be any need for any step by step instructions.

No one is complaining.

It is just a fact that with more funding you could do some extra things, but we will do well with what we have.

We are now testing the wallet. If you are interested join channel #iguana and help us out!

Having hard time understanding how ChonoBank is aiming at 10k BTC and komodo received what? 1700 fresh BTC? I would really suggest you guys to start promotions ASAP even if the product is almost ready. Not so many people have even heard about KMD, look at the rate of thread post here and there. Don't be afraid to spend some of those funds, one of the goals to collect them was for promotions as I understand. Please do. I know the campaign will start soon, there is no need for "soon", do it now. Time is of the essence here.

P.S. Heat is out in 4 days, halfbaked, but aiming for a lot of similar goals.
I agree with that.

Dont make the same mistake as nxt in the first years. Great tech but without decent promotion.

Andreas Antonopoulos : "If they try to stomp on bitcoin, they will discover that bitcoin was a little gecko technology, like Napster was the benign file sharing technology. When you stomp on the gecko, it becomes a Komodo dragon and then bites off your foot next time you try to stomp it"
I do not doubt the technology you create, the ambitions are there too. If all goes as planned, this could be the biggest coin after eth.
Grasshopper eats grass, gecko eats grasshopper, iguana eats grasshopper, komodo eats everything that moves, I understand that.

I was just suggesting to get as much media on-board not after komodo is ready, but rather now. It would only help in a long run.

What komodo needs is a massive influx of users and liquidity, otherwise the whole platform 'might' not work as advertised. We can put all efforts to achieve that goal under the umbrella of 'marketing', but some very effective options involve things other than media and advertising. The goal is viral growth, so studying how other projects have achieved that is useful for the community now. The tech will work as intended, I have no doubt about that, but ONLY after reaching the user::liquidity critical mass reqjired to make things work. I fear slow growth in users will stifle the tech, which will then be copied by someone else.

So, let's borrow ideas from other projects that achieved viral growth, how did they do it? If we fail to do this, komodo fails. Some coins can survive a long time without a lot of users and still 'work', but with komodo I don't think this is possible. The komodo 'magic' jl777 has created needs a large network to work, so imo this should be priority number one!

Yes, marketing is important, we need to work hard to showcase our platform.

We need a liquid market for the KMD <-> BTC pair, because that is the gateway to PAX fiat assets. To sell or buy EUR, USD, etc. you will have to buy/sell KMD too (if you buy with BTC).

Our DEX however doesn't need mass influx of users in the same way a DEX based on proxy tokens would. We will have liquidity provider nodes that will bring us the liquidity from the central exchanges. A user can buy something through our DEX with zero counterparty risk, and the liquidity provider balances the trade through a central exchange, for a profit of course (market making). Thus the liquidity provider node takes the risk as it has to keep some funds on the central exchange.

Anyway, our solution is designed to make the decentralized exchange a reality. No exchange can succeed without liquidity and convenience, the zero counterparty risk feature is just a cherry on the top that people will appreciate if everything else works.

Can someone please just tell me when we can trade Komodo? I haven't had the time to follow updates for a while.

Distribution is next Tuesday - 31.Jan - trading will be possible quicly then.
I am not 100% if DEX is available immediately- if so, distribution day is trading day.

The OP hasn't changed since the ICO and so where are download links to wallets?

We wanted to publish easy installers, but there's still a bug that is not fixed (for Windows). We realize that we cannot delay this forever, and thus we are now working on install instructions.

The wallets for windows/linux/OS X with instructions will be published shortly. The easy installers will be published as soon as that bug is finished.

Great news! Ignore what I just said, it looks like the team managed to fix the pm2 bug while I was sleeping.

Now we are working hard to get the easy installers ready, and then published with step by step instructions. Everyone will be welcome to join the beta test.  Grin

As the token distribution to signature participants are coming closer, do we again need to send our payment info again or the info sent last month is good enough?

No, if you have sent it already then it's all good!

Would it be advantageous to wait until the last day of the swap? I think BTCD is very important to organize the exchange rates. Will it be a study?

Waiting won't give any advantage. The exchange rate keeps dropping every day, and after the year it will be 5% lower than it was on the first day.

Im looking at this verification form and cant wrap my head around it. Does it prompt people to dump their shit in a mini container, construct shitty words from it and use these words as a new type of ultimate highly secured mnemonic seed for signing in to that site as if its their real passphrase.

There are two separate verify processes:
1) when the account is created it asks you to type the passphrase in order to make sure you had saved it
2) second verification you can do yourself anytime (if you wish). For example, if you are unsure what your seed was, you can double check it is the correct one and matches with the public KMD address.

The seed is really important because you need it to access the KMD. It is THE seed you insert into the GUI wallet and get an access to your funds.

On Clicking Go Back, it lands me on same page... there is no Seed option..  Cry

That is weird! Don't you see this page at all?

On this page you are supposed to save/write down the seed, and then proceed to confirm it. You are now on the confirmation page which comes next. Are you not able to go back?

Have you tried to re-login? Maybe try a hard refresh with shift + F5 or ctrl + F5. You could also try a different browser, if there's some weird bug.

Let me know how it goes.

I am not having passphrase, what should i do now?

That screenshot seems to be the one on signup. Do you even have an account right now? Is there a back button?

Yes, if you still see that, click 'Go back' and then you should see the seed. Save the seed and then get back to that verification page, and type your seed there.
717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: January 21, 2017, 01:18:28 PM
I am not having passphrase, what should i do now?

If you have lost the passphrase you can create a new address by clicking on "Reset Seed",
remember to write down the passhprase and check that it matches the address

Where is an option to reset seed?

Click 'Home' from the menu, and then 'Reset Seed'.

From the same page you can also check your seed.

How to check you got the right passphrase/seed!

-> "check KMD address"
-> enter passphrase / seed
---> it returns the public KMD address

then it should match with your active KMD address above it

Example:

In the above picture the KMD addresses don't match, and there's a problem (the seed is incorrect).

Clarification about the overall GUI situation and its support of T&Z transactions

Windows Iguana Wallet will support Komodo, but only the Transparent Mode Transactions, and not Z (Private).

Note that Komodo is Fork of Zcash, and Zcash hasn’t still provided ANY Windows Support for their wallet. Nonetheless, Komodo will be supported on Windows.

Our dev @fadedreamz is working on solving support for Zcash with iguana, and as soon as it’s solved we’ll also be supporting Transparent mode support of Zcash in our Windows Iguana wallet.

The GUI developer Satinder Grewal said: "I can not exactly say when we’ll have Private Mode support for Windows, but we are trying our best to get things done to our potential."

So we have two daemons, and the other one supports T-transactions only:
- iguana daemon = Transparent Mode
- komodod daemon = Transparent Mode + Private Mode

Currently the situation is as follows:
OS X = iguana daemon + komodod daemon
Linux = iguana daemon + komodod daemon
Windows = iguana daemon | No Komodod support yet

This means, that with Linux you are able to choose whatever you want to launch Iguana daemon (full mode) or Komodod daemon (native mode). For now, you can only use the Komodo full mode on Windows.

When you launch Iguana desktop app it will ask you which mode you want to use. If you want to switch from 'full mode' to 'native mode' you will have to close the app and restart it; then select the new mode you wish to start with.

If you switch between the modes you will have to re-download the blockchain. Iguana daemon and komodod daemon are totally different implementation codebase to run Komodo Blockchain, their format of storing and syncing blockchain to your local machine is way different from each other. That is also why iguana daemon Only supports T (Transparent) Transaction, and why komodod daemon supports both T (Transparent) Transactions & Z (Private) Transactions.

Nxt Asset Gateway to Assetchains

Vanbreuk gave an update about his efforts to enable SuperNET assets to be withdrawn to their independent blockchain via MultiGateway technology. As many might already know, jl777 has already created all the assets with the assetchains. The assets have dPoW protection and on-demand block generation.

Here's the update from Vanbreuk:

Quote from: vanbreuk
about the assetchains gateways (MGW for SuperNET assets currently on Nxt blockchain, to allow transferring them to Komodo):

In the tests last week I used native Komodo+assetchains, and the MGW database synchronized remarkably well, but using native Komodo turned out to be not an option in the multisignature address creation tests, since MGW uses the accounts feature in bitcoind & forks, which has been removed in Zcash and hence in Komodo.

The alternative is using Iguana as swiss army knife client for assetchains. Initial tests this week found a problem in the wallet creation process for every asset chain, but that happened just about the same time some wallet creation issues that AFAIK james has already addressed in Iguana beta branch.

Over the weekend I expect to have functional Iguana wallet files for assetchains, which should get us to the same point where we got with native Komodo, but without the problem with the accounts feature. After that, the only important test left should be the Nxt AE > Komodo assetchain assets withdrawal. So I hope to have Nxt AE > Assetchains gateways working when Komodo distribution happens.

regarding Gui Wallets, how can you say its production ready without support for the most popular OS or give a rough ETA for the Windows Release?

Yeah that's a good question. Any updates on this?

We are going to do some beta test on the KMD distribution, and for that we will publish some GUI and test it at the same time. The official publication date is still not announced, but should happen very soon.

The linux wallet works, but there is one bug in the windows wallet which is soon fixed.
