7001  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What's stopping companies making an actual space heater bitcoin miner for home? on: May 31, 2022, 12:09:41 PM
Having modded tons of different loud miners into quiet miners that will heat a home no one will buy an expensive space heater miner when they can mod a miner.

Also pcs with two gpus can be quiet. they mine btc indirectly.

Yeah, absolutely right. Most experienced miners would be able to do this by tinkering with the devices themselves. There's no market for it really.

And having a custom built PC for heating/mining could be a great idea as you can also use it when not mining for many other purposes.

For example this enclosure for a PC would be actually perfect, and very similar to the space heater I had in mind:

I have that rig in white. with this card

7002  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Russia isn't using it's full force in Ukraine ? tactically .. on: May 31, 2022, 03:01:16 AM
The average Russian may have started to notice some effects from sanctions - "the latest iPhone in Russia is... the one you have in your hand". But they are just not realising how bad this can get when extended for years.

Today, I spoke with an Iranian about the effect of the sanctions due to the failure to implement a nuclear deal with US - curiously linked to some of the requirement on regards to collaboration with Russia. The country has gone down economically like never before, people are really frustrated, afraid and struggling everyday.

All those "Z" supremacists that are supporting Adolf Putin's war of aggression have been so brainwashed into believing that nothing can touch them that reality is going to hit them like a precision GU bomb laser-guided into their anal orifices.
Earlier when it was Covid - the world looked like a horrible place like in the move World War Z. The world was in chaos during COVID.
When that war of COVID ended - there came and other war Russia and Ukraine. There was another war of US and Afghan which ended abruptly after 20 years. And it also did so much damage - I live in a region which was not part of any war yet badly badly affected.

I really don't understand what did Allied forces gain from Afghan war, did it eliminate terrorism or restored democratic rule in Afghanistan. Unfortunately no targeted objective was achieved and same Taliban are ruling Afghanistan again who were ruling there before Allied forces came in. The economic situation in Afghanistan is getting worse, food shortage and collapsing health care system is an alarming situation which needs urgent attention of humanitarian organization. I am afraid prolonging war in Ukraine and economic sanctions on Russia can also disrupt food supply and create food shortage all over the world.

You look at this as east vs west or communism vs democracy.

It is not. This is the price of oil is mooned.

The players USA/Nato vs Russia/China the chip or tool Ukraine 🇺🇦

The goal is really high cost oil.

As Prez Bush once said mission accomplished.

How many sticks?

I have run as many as 128 usb sticks.

I have run over 15 of side hacks

If you have four sticks they can be like four table legs

for this pair of fans.

wait for link

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0828TW8ZW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?

the fans can rest directly on top of the four sticks and blow the air upwards

you can do as many as eight sticks

if you have them on two usb hubs

7007  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Current Cost of s9 and best place to buy on: May 30, 2022, 10:51:39 PM
Best prices I’ve found are on eBay. I’ve seen  200$-300$, seems to be going rate. The s9 are still trading and in demand like the above poster stated.
Now about 100-150$

in the buy it now section
there are no s9s with a psu on usa ebay for 100-150

for auctions they may be 150 but the auction has not ended.

sometimes you can get a good auction price.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/314008542257? 209 free shipping and a psu 2 hours left to auction end.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/155010349130? 155 free shipping and a psu 5 hours left to auction end.

sellers may be good.

edit:

the first one went for 212+19= 231 which is decent if you have free power.

Personally I would be willing to modify that section.

What is the pay? Theymos can pm me if he wants to let me modify it.

I am willing to give theymos my kyc etc.

Btw as out there as badecker can be every once in a while he drops a golden nugget of info.

So at whomever is in charge of moderators please contact me via pm if you want me to modify that section.

I take it you mean "moderate", not "modify", but I don't know if it is equivalent where you live in the US.

What about modifying or moderating the WO thread? You are a regular there, and suchmoon was complaining recently, as you may have seen.

My iPad auto correct is crazy I will correct the error.

I thought about modding a few times. If I do mod.

It would need be in threads/boards I do not post much in.

So the btc mining the alt coin mining and the wo/economic area I would not want to do.

BTW the wo thread can be very off the wall at times.

Well I will see if theymos and staff want me to try on P+S board.
7010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How bad can it get? on: May 29, 2022, 03:48:07 PM
Down the road into a bear market what can a new miner except from a 500MH mining farm? How incredibly bad can this get? 5$? 8$? Asking those who are here before in 2018 so I can know what's awaiting me.

½ penny a mh which comes to $2.50 a day pre power.

If you are burning 1200 watts that is about 30 kwatts a day.

You will need 8 cent power to make a 10 cent daily profit.

I have done some gpu mining of some kind from 2012 to now.

I do not recall that 7 cent power was needed to make money.
7011  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Could this be Elon's vision? on: May 29, 2022, 03:38:19 PM
The thing people don't seem to be realizing is that he's setting up a lot of his investments into colonizing Mars.  He has electric cars, to drive on Mars.  He has battery tech, to store energy on Mars.  He has solar energy tech, to produce energy on Mars.  He has the Boring Company, to build tunnels on Mars to shield from radiation.  He's now building robots to assist with jobs (on Mars) that humans might not be able to do...  Getting the picture yet?  If you think Tesla and Elon's focus is on Earth, you are missing the big picture.  He's basically going to control all usable land and colonization of Mars.  I imagine that will be a profitable venture for him.  Nobody else is even close...
your getting there but your still only seeing half the picture..

to other readers
elons vision is not to own a car company or a solar power company

think of his ventures as just R&D of a bigger project. and then piece it all together it start to make sense

he didnt start the 'boring' company to make transport tunnels for american cars.
all of this stuff was all R&D spend with ROI to learn how to make tech ready for space mining

think about it .. solar panels(solar city), drilling equipment(boring), moon buggies(tesla)
its all in preparedness of funding asteroid mining for rare minerals.

thats his retirement plan. get rich from space mining, by being the first/main company doing it in space

the end goal is not tesla or solar city. those are just first steps into the R&D required for space mining. where he gets some returns on his investment while doing the research/design

he pretends his 'aspirations' are mars colonisation(as ognasty thinks.. BUT. ),  he is not making 'bio-dome' houses nor venturing into farming(oxygen and food). meaning he is not planning on human colonisation..
by venturing into drilling and robots. his goals are more about mining not colonising.

emphasis
his R&D is more about drilling and transport(large yield transport of 900tonne payloads (rare minerals).. yep its about the mining.. not the colonising

..
when asteroid 'prospectors' want advice, tools, equipment, transport. they will all buy from tesla as the full service business supporting asteroid mining
..
if your thinking 'trillionaire' you are thinking to small.
hyper inflation already made many people trillionaires in many currencies.
US dollar is going to hyper inflate and so trillionaire is the new billionaire.

US dollar is not going to hyper inflate in the next 30 years.

The definition of hyper inflation is strict

https://www.quora.com/How-much-inflation-is-hyperinflation

50% a month which is over 1000% a year.

and that is not happening.

I lived in the 70s and we did close to 10% a year for 10 years. maybe a grand total of 110% over a ten year period of time.

but I do say this a repeat of the 70s may happen which is a solid inflationary move

7013  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Overview BTC Solo pools on: May 28, 2022, 10:30:56 PM

In terms of probability in doesn't matter for each individual miner, it only matters how much hashrate they provide individually.

What I think is significant is that if you have a pool with a high enough hashrate that means that there will be blocks found, and therefore fees will be paid to the pool, which will allow the payment for the servers and so on so the operation can continue smoothly for everyone.

But if you have a pool with low hashrate then probably no blocks will be found, server bills will arrive and with no incoming blocks the pool operator might have to shut the operation down.

It still comes down to me trying to grasp this.

When a pool gets a job that job is then distributed to the miners that are connected to the pool.

So in my mind it would stand to reason then the more hashpower a pool has the better off or luckier a miner would potentially be at hitting a block if they were to be mining there. Solo or otherwise.

I just don't see how that wouldn't be the case.

nope

you have one shovel trying to mine a share higher than 29trill

I have five shovels trying to mine a share higher than 29trill

I am five time more likely to hit than you and In the current difficulty period of 29 trill nothing I do with my gear helps or hurts you.

However
it the longer run if I do enough shovels to raise the difficulty to 30 trillion or higher for the next adjustment.

than you have a smaller shot to hit the block.
7014  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What equipments can use to mine BTC with power cost is 0.15€/Kwt? on: May 28, 2022, 01:54:05 AM
If you have a gpu you can mine at nicehash eth at the moment and it will auto convert to bitcoin.

If you already have a good gpu in a rig you will turn a profit at 15 cent power.

The problem with the op's question is it belongs in alt coin section even though the end result is he gets btc.

Not my rules the forum dedicates this section to direct btc mining. which you can not do with a gpu.

asic (sha256 algo) = btc  belongs here

gpu to any alt coin auto vert to btc = belong in alt coin section.

If the op has a 3060ti non- lhr in a gaming rig it will earn $ 1.50 worth of btc at nicehash every day. it will burn about 5 watts a day which at 15 cents is 75 cent power cost so 1.50-.75 = 75 cents profit each day you mine it.  but that rig is over 850 to build  so this works if you have it already.

He said the first student called 911 at 12:03 p.m., and calls continued for more than 45 minutes, during which operators could hear gunfire over the phone. At 12:16, McGraw said, a girl called to report that "eight to nine" students were alive.

Chickenshit cocksucking Pigs hid outside while the kids were murdered.

Well the real issue is the killer had an ar-15

I have a you tube link that shows an ar-15 against bulletproof vests.

please wait for me to link it.

level 4 vest top of the line test below

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HFm9uoYyzh8

level 3 vest normal grade vest

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QrWtgyFQ8LU

so if the cops had a level 4 vest they are cowards

and if the cops had a level 3 vest they are ill equipped.

or how about just sell ar 15 guns only after extensive background tests.

Glad I stuck with BTC.
If you had believed any of these shouty loud mouthed YouTubers over the last 2 years during the bullrun even for just 1% you would have transferred BTC to any shitcoin or NFT that is now taking a big assed dumperoodoo.

It's crazy because out of the ones I've seen only Pomp is a full BTC maximalist.
Many others have interviewed Michael Saylor who keeps saying shitcoins are just crap yet they don't follow his advice even after 3 hour interviews.
OR they are clearly in on the scam of many of these nonsense tokens and coins.

And this is going to keep happening over and over again every Bitcoin bull run.

Every cycle, there will always be new scams. There will always be new shitcoins. There will always be a new "crypto narrative". There will always be new prominent "Crypto saviors and evangelists".

I guess they'll keep running this game over and over if it works...until it doesn't work anymore.

Because greed, and suckers are born every minute.

Yeah very few coins other than btc have real structure behind them.

Maybe a dozen. Since there are more than 2000 of them it means over 99 % of coins are garbage scams.

At homerx I like the quote.

back to shit coins. mr v is heading towards a major crash 💥 it will stagger the market bigly. and btc will go over 55% market by august or not.

It’s hard to say which GPU is better

1) Which was overvolted and overclocked inside an closed computer case with bad ventilation which was gamed for 1-2 hours a day for 1 year.

2) Under bolted and under clocked open air GPU which was used 24/7/365.

Which would you pick if you were a buyer?

Similar to what I was thinking. Miners take better care of their hardware. Sometimes they even mine in a data centre environment,
clean, dry and cool.

Once I understood gpu mining is a marathon and not a sprint I never power cards hard I never power fans hard I never do the higher memory clock settings.

if a 3090 can do 1100 + on smos for its best I find how low I can do for the clock say 850

I rather the card do 107-111 mh and never fuck up then do 121 mh and die in six months.

from my experience if you treat cards properly while mining they last and don't break

I build for gamers , miners, (gamer/miner)

My rigs are very trouble free and they use older gpu's I mined with correctly.  I do not get many returns. With year old mining gpus.

Most people that really game hard push cards hard really hard.

And they blow up their cards often.

If you read the EVGA forums a ton of people run 3090's at 450 watts. I run mine at 295-315 watts. I have 18 3090's with a fail rate of 0

gamers kill off their 3090's a lot more often than I do.

If you guys frequent Twitter you will see tons of FUD for Ethereum, mostly is non sense. However even Saylor is attacking ETH with one of his tweets.

Basically saying that it’s a virtual world that is a copy. He didn’t state Ethereum but he said POS and we all know what he is talking about.

This is why the ETHBTC had a huge dump compared to BTC. Looks like it’s about to break the yearly low.

I have been around a long time. The issue for pos is that it is basically a company bond.

but it has no government protection.

SO why the fuck do I want a digital bond with no safeguards of any kind.

POS = piece of shit

Frankly Mr v has  a simple tactic  he can do which wait this out hoping for an overall market crash then do POS to save the market.

Or push and do the switch to POS during a shaky market pray to God that the switch does not crater the market.

My gut says this if btc is over 28k in August and eth is around 1900 they will not switch they will find more and more block reorgs happening from now till August and say the software still has some issues they will alter the difficulty bomb to Dec or Jan.

But if btc has faltered to 18k and eth is about 950 he will do the switch this August.

time will tell.
