7041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any countries that accept cryptos as an actual method of payment? on: November 21, 2019, 01:05:50 PM
There are tons of countries that has some active ecosystem for cryptos going on already, and I think it is not something new as it has been like this for years after people realized that cryptos are actually not just a way to store money but to also be used as a currency to which they can buy goods and other stuff in the market. It's just not as evident as you may want it to see, say, a huge portion of the population being engaged in cryptocurrency trading and/or using it as an actual currency to buy goods.

It's already happening, just that it's not that pretty evident or widespread yet.
7042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will be the alternate plan - second option on: November 21, 2019, 08:34:50 AM
I’m still somewhat anxious of what stablecoins represent and whether or not they hold significance in times of drought for the crypto economy. Sure, a big entity can claim that their coins hold value due to them backing it up with assets they own, but do we have proof that these assets exist? Furthermore, the issue with stablecoins is that they create a new kind of wealth out of thin air, similar to a country producing money on an uncontrollable rate, and that in itself is very alarming.

Perhaps the way I would go in times of such dire situations would be precious metals or hold bitcoin as is and bear the losses. I’ve seen it rise many times over and over again and it’s not really far from happening again, knowing how strong the economy has become over the years.
7043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can you buy with bitcoin? Apparently, some weird shit. on: November 21, 2019, 06:21:11 AM
Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies would really be the perfect method of payment for these guys living in their mom’s basement to at least save some dignity for themselves. With that kind of money, one can easily pay for a hooker and then hope for the best that the girl does not have gonorrhea pr any of that STD on her and just get on with it. But apparently select individuals really have a feel for weird fetishes on the girl of their dreams, hence these weird products on the dark web.

I’ve seen some weird stuff out there, but this one tops it all.
7044  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that governments might one day ban Cryptos? on: November 20, 2019, 02:06:42 PM
Some countries that are still not feeling the change would likely try and ban cryptocurrencies, but since most are already heading towards digital payments and transactions are mostly done online, I don't think there'd be a single country that would like to ban cryptos anymore. They might capitalize on it and instead create their own cryptocurrencies for easier minting of coins and reduce the number of production costs for physical money creation. China reverted from banning and instead went on to just utilize the blockchain since they saw that they could become the number one country for enforcing changes and whatnot of their liking, and it's already a clear indication that they want to be ahead of things more than anyone else in the space right now.
7045  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are the Bigdogs doing with Crypto or are they still in old school markets? on: November 20, 2019, 01:21:57 PM
Most of them are still in the old school markets and some may have moved into the derivatives market for a wider range of profit opportunities. Some may have moved into the cryptocurrency scene though of course, only those who mastered the markets--especially not the old lads--are in this game. Also, why would anyone successful in their traditional markets move over to the 'wild west' of intra-day trading, especially if they don't know what the other players think and with just a wrong move, they could lose a lot of money?
7046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will You Circumvent KYC if You Can? on: November 18, 2019, 10:20:24 PM
I would, if I could. Even if I know full well the implications and what effect could it have on me if I get caught, I'd still do it knowing how KYC works and how details are leaked almost every other day in the scene. Though DEXes can be utilized somewhat for the sole purpose of not giving up ID verification, no one can compete against the volume and liquidity centralized exchanges provide, so if there really is a chance to circumvent KYC or submit fake documents, I would do it.
7047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Doge magazine still meme on: November 16, 2019, 04:21:33 PM
The goofy nature and essence of dogecoin is what made it the brand it is, so it’s obviously a yes for me if someone is to release a meme-y magazine of dogecoin with all things that made it what it is right now. I was there in 2014 when Josh Wise was racing with the Dogecar and up until now, I still have some doges left on me in hopes of making doge great again, or at least significant to the scene again.
7048  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why are you gambling? on: November 16, 2019, 02:05:02 PM
Truth be told I started playing to win, but over time, I figured out that there's no future for me in gambling professionally or to even make a decent living, so I decided to stop spending too much and just played whenever i have spare money that I can spend on booze but choose to gamble and take my chance on winning something instead. Right now I have successfully avoided gambling and am playing very rarely to satisfy my cravings for the thrill every now and then, though I wish I can resist the urge and use the money on something else instead.,
7049  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptotalk forum payment issue and many more on: November 16, 2019, 01:32:21 PM
Cryptotalk's forum is not a healthy place for discussion and whatnot, so it's not a surprise that they're making it hard for users to get their first payment even though they openly advertise their platform as a "pay-per-post" forum to incentivize everyone to join. Yobit has been one of those shadiest exchange platforms in the market mainly due to the fact that they don't have an active customer support crew for their peers and customer's query and how they handle things, but for the most part, their services and platforms (barely) work and you just have to have that slight amount of faith to put into yobit.
7050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Addiction at its Worst! on: November 16, 2019, 12:57:17 PM
The worst thing I have done to feed my gambling habit was probably skip 2 months of my own personal savings and spend it all on booze and gambling in a night, and this happened in Macau. Obviously not my proudest moment nor fondest memory but it opened my eye into something that would help me a lot. I know I wouldn't do such a dumb thing knowing that I still love being free and just getting some things done day by done and my addictions, or should I say "attraction" to gambling isn't that worrisome and I have effectively stopped gambling large amounts of money for years now. Problems such as these are more into the psychological behavior of the person in question and they really need to seek help, else they would do such stupid things mentioned by OP or worse, physically harm someone in order to achieve their goals.
7051  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trade Bitcoin - AVOID "Get Rich Quick" Shit Coin Pump and Dump on: November 16, 2019, 12:20:21 PM
This has been the case and the thing ever since altcoins were introduced in exchanges and when regulations aren't so defined yet. Good thing that this has been acted upon and is not rampant anymore though there are still some kind of pump and dumps happening on some platforms here and there, particularly on Bittrex. You can't avoid people from participating into sure and fast money, although you can at least try to prevent the event from happening but then again it's purely on regulations and laws and not particularly on the exchange's power since that will cause some issues and stir up the economy.
7052  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’ Scamming Senior Citizens With Bitcoin Retirement Plan on: November 16, 2019, 11:46:44 AM
This yet again paints another bad image for bitcoin even though it is not directly responsible for such. People who capitalize on the fact that no one really stepped up to introduce themselves as the genuine Satoshi and come up with some evidence are the kind of person that destroys the image of bitcoin for the unknowing victims of their schemes. If Jorg Molt really runs a ponzi scheme, I'm pretty sure he'd be brought into questioning by their local enforcement offices, and if not then we know for sure that something happened under the table already. Who would have the guts nor the mind to deceive old, retired people off their pensions in order to make themselves rich?
7053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where are the positive news and those users? on: November 16, 2019, 11:14:37 AM
They don't disappear but instead simply fade out until the moment comes wherein they can spam their "beliefs" in and post unrealistic things about bitcoin and its price. I'm not a hater nor a fan of any of these type of posts but it gets on my nerves whenever someone posts a lengthy analysis with all the fillers and external sources to support their claim, although in reality none of those will happen in their given time-frame. That's why the Wall Observer thread was created to contain all those type of redundant posts and lengthy off-topic drama that people here have to say but yeah, Speculation sub-forum still is existing so..
7054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Different odds for a same bet on: November 16, 2019, 10:33:03 AM
Odds providers still follow what they think the outcome of the bet will be. Although your examples are pretty good and are essentially the same, odds are these guys are just basing their odds on other odds providers so as not to level down the profit margin, and given the nature of these not-so-picked bets in the market, most odds providers and bookies will capitalize on it to make some profits on the side while the rest of their lines are probably filled with wins from the bettors.
7055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: mBit casino offers "no deposit" spins that require a deposit on: November 16, 2019, 10:05:23 AM
They made you visit their site, you counted as a visitor to their internet traffic. Even though you haven't deposited nor played with them, they still got something from you in terms of numbers, so it's a legit click-bait that's a win-win for them. I usually mark these emails as spam and opt to not receive any emails whatsoever, especially the promotional ones from the same senders ever again. This is a bad marketing strategy IMO, and the guys running the said platform should look into it, otherwise many people would be misled and waste their time trying to play the no-deposit spins on the platform.

This lands on false advertisement which, depending on where the platform is registered, is illegal.
7056  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitmain sues ex-employee for allegedly IP theft on: November 16, 2019, 09:40:24 AM
First there was a coup inside the company, installing Jihan Wu's in power, and the first thing he do is to sue his ex employee for IP theft? I think they're picking up their competition, or at least Jihan is putting his enemy one by one. And this is not the first time though, China's court already dismissed the first patent case. So why he was arrested?

Speculation until further developments on the case were to surface. IP theft, really, this works in China? Knowing how rampant plagiarism and stealing patent ideas and such in the said country, it's a wonder that there's a special case for that going on right now involving the least talked about or interesting thing for the people of China. It might be that Jihan Wu wanted to take the cake for himself, especially after Xi Jinping's comments regarding blockchain developments and whatnot to be spearheaded and lead by China.

I wonder how strong this guy's connections are for real?
7057  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think Gavin Andresen will make a comeback? on: November 15, 2019, 10:28:42 PM
He’s probably not going to return to the whole scene since he already left, plus the fact that he’s into other projects and is quite fruitful and satisfied there. Perhaps he’s been doing some minor checks here and there in bitcoin’s code but to be a full-time dev is already out of the question for him. But yeah, we don’t know how people in retirement’s mind works. First they can tell you that they’re so done and the next time when they’re bored, they’ll go back to what they’ve been doing previously.
7058  Economy / Economics / Re: Paypal Drops Pornhub Support, Pornhub Is Now Exploring Cryptocurrency Options on: November 15, 2019, 05:29:53 PM
Paypal dropping Pornhub on their payments would seem like a very nice opportunity for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to penetrate (pun intended) the adult entertainment market. It would seem like it’s a small market but given that there are still a lot of patrons for the porn industry and a lot of people are still paying subscriptions to watch other people do intimate stuff on each other, this might still be a viable and thriving industry for bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to play on. Pornhub is a good start for these things to happen, and might actually bring a lot to the table.
7059  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling sports predictions on: November 14, 2019, 06:56:52 PM
I don't think there's a hidden system for that unless you get to have insider information on who would "sell" the game so as to get those insane odds in their favor. Fixed matches in football isn't really a new thing, though they're highly unlikely in regular seasons, especially in high-tier tournaments like the Champion's League and other premier titles. If you're tired of hitting those low-profit games, try to make a parlay off of it and see where it leads you. Though again there is a certain risk when trying to get the games in parlay as there is always a possibility that a game might be dropped even if the odds are ridiculously close to 1.00x
7060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do Hong Kong protesters use Btc for anything? on: November 14, 2019, 05:31:22 PM
No known or recorded statistic for such, although of course we won't know for certain knowing that there aren't really someone who's going to track all of the ins and outs of bitcoin in the  oppressed Hong Kong region. The situation over there is chaotic and messy, that normal day-to-day life is hard to accomplish and going to your local store would be hard given that protests are all over Central and other major urban parts. Most likely, Hong Kong citizens are sticking to their credit/debit cards and online wallets for purchases and are just staying at home for the most part of the day, and while it seems the bitcoin would fit perfectly to their ordeals, there doesn't seem to be any genuine need for that atm.
