7041  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin has reached 8000$, then what? on: May 16, 2019, 04:05:57 PM
I am more worried about the declining Bitcoin dominance. So far this week, it has gone down from 60% to 56%. I am afraid that it may be a repetition of 2017, when many of the worthless altcoins went up by 100x and 200x. These alts are like parasites, leaching off volumes and users from Bitcoin. Anyway.. too early to say that this has become a trend.
7042  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nobody wins in gambling anyway on: May 16, 2019, 02:09:07 PM
So, i recently went to a local gambling place here in our city and i participated in this game called color game. In this game you will choose from five different colors and if you win, your price will be times four of your bet. The chances is obviously 20% and i myself admitted that i get hooked up to it immediately. Who else dont want an easy money by the way. What i observe is that nobody wins in gambling in any other way except if you are the owner of the said stall. Your chances of winning is just 20% and the initiator has 80%. Imagine that big?. Even though they quadruple your money, their winning steak is also higher than what they give to you. Plus, psychologically, if people experienced winning , they will not stop betting until they do not have enough money to bet. On the other hand, if they win, they will return the other day to gamble again. Lucky to them if they win again but most of the time, they are not.

You need to consider gambling as a method to get relaxation, rather than accumulating money. With the addition of the house advantage, there are more chances that you are going to lose a game than winning. Just classify it as a means of entertainment, just like watching movies or playing golf. Even if you go to a cinema, you need to pay for the tickets. The same thing here as well.
7043  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 16, 2019, 02:02:06 PM
Yes, I am following all games these days, be it tri-series or bilateral series between Eng vs Pak ( closely) but no one talking here about them except few Cheesy

To sum up all matches: Bowlers taking hits in every match, Batsmen keep hitting bowlers all around the ground for fun. Thanks to flat-dead pitches.

Yeah, Bangladesh is ahead of Windies in the longer format. Windies can win a couple of matches with power hitting but its not a long term solution if you are competing with top teams in World Cup. Let's see what happens during Warm-up matches.

Ireland will take some time, but they will get there if they can hold up on their domestic talent.

Kiwis and Proteas are more or less same in terms of overall strength. They both are a very competitor in any format. so for me its tie between them.

If the Windies side is in full strength, then they can easily beat Bangladesh. Despite being a test nation for almost two decades, BAN is just not up there. Their domestic structure is not very organized and even now they depend too much on the Dhaka club sides, rather than diversifying out of the capital city.

And Ireland is a gone case. Irish players are eligible to represent England, and therefore if a player is at international standard, then he'll just dump his motherland and adorn the colors of England (the same with the case of Scotland and Wales). Without their best players, they can get nowhere. Imagine an Irish side with Eoin Morgan and Ed Joyce. They'll be able to give tough competition to anyone. But we'll never get to see such a team.
7044  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: KYC procedure in online casinos does more good than bad or the other way around? on: May 16, 2019, 01:57:20 PM
Actually people these days are more concerned about their security than the money they can make over a gambling site if they click on KYC. To be honest, I am more concerned about this security thing after Binance got hacked. There could be a security breach and if your details are exposed over a site, they could be used for worst intentions. In addition, no one would love to disclose his/her identity and here crypto helps a lot and gives you an option for do so. The general response of gamblers to sites that require them to pas KYC is negative.

I have never underwent the KYC process for any of the exchanges or gambling sites. IMO, the risk is just too big (and in my case, since Bitcoin is almost banned in my country it is even more risky). If someone wins $100,000 or amounts greater than that, then KYC can be made mandatory. But for withdrawing or depositing $10, what's the need for going for KYC?
7045  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance hacked. 7000 BTC stolen. on: May 16, 2019, 01:52:41 PM
After what happened with Cryptopia, I am getting really nervous in keeping any of the cryptocurrencies in exchanges. The problem is that they never tell us the truth. Look what Cryptopia did. At first, they claimed that the losses are not as large as expected, and they will be resuming the operations very soon. They even started trading for some pairs. And then all of a sudden, the site has closed down.

Now how can we be sure about Binance? These guys are also saying that the exchange will not close down. But still no external audit has been done on how much they lost during the recent hack.
7046  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Most Promising Cryptocurrencies to Invest in 2019 on: May 16, 2019, 01:46:27 PM
ETH & XRP Is the two assists that have the most chances to explode this year and the TOP 10 CMC right now. +Linkchain.

I would agree with you on ETH, but not on XRP. ETH will definitely go up, as it is having a virtual monopoly among the platforms. On the other hand, XRP is a shady coin, which is extremely risky to invest in. From what I heard, somewhere between 70% and 75% of all the XRP tokens are being owned by the promoters. I don't think that we can trust XRP under such a scenario.
7047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tokens prices are decreasing? on: May 15, 2019, 04:28:10 PM
i am also surprised to see the tokens dropping instead of rising while the market is appreciating, i have felt it is due to regulation, and i know it cannot continually be like that, some are even pegged at a small exchange rate.since the market value is getting better it will come up either with time but it doesn't mean we shouldn;t sell.

Not all the tokens are dropping. In my wallet, I have tokens such as WPP, RPM and MOZO. Most of them are up. My take is that if the project is progressing nicely, then obviously the investors will notice it. On the other hand, if the project is dormant or dead, then the tokens will be going down in price, even if the cryptocurrency market is up.
7048  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: should hold or sold BNB ? on: May 15, 2019, 04:22:21 PM
I think that it is better to switch to ETH today, it will continue to grow 100%. But the growth rate of bnb is a mystery. I think this is a good decision.

Why can't have both the coins?

ETH is definitely the no.2 crypto-currency in every aspect. The number of users and trade volumes can give competition to those of Bitcoin at any point. BNB is a relatively new currency, and it is tied to the cryptocurrency exchange Binance. Because of its relation with Binance, BNB does not have the kind of freedom that ETH possess.
7049  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Arguments against XRP, the biggest shitcoin. on: May 15, 2019, 04:18:26 PM
Many thanks for posting this thread. XRP is one of the largest threats that cryptocurrencies face right now. The banks knew that it is always easier to destroy crypto from the inside. That's why they created Ripple, which calls itself as a cryptocurrency, but in reality more of fiat than crypto. XRP continues to fool inexperienced crypto users with its inflated market cap and manipulated exchange volumes. I never had any XRP in my wallets and the situation will remain the same even if it is able to overtake BTC.
7050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling with altcoins on: May 15, 2019, 04:14:31 PM
Nowadays, the exchanges are coming up with their own altcoins, such as the Binance Coin (BNB), Yobit Coin (YOVI), Huobi Token (HT), Kucoin Shares (KCS).etc. Similarly, I expect the top gambling sites to come up with their own tokens or altcoins. Sites such as Prime Dice have been in existence for more than 6 years now. We can expect tokens from them sometime soon.

Who are expecting the next world cup and what is your favourite team in this time to win share your thoughts.
In my opinion, India is my favorite team and they will most likely lift the World Cup as long as they quickly adapt to the conditions in England. My 2nd preference would be England due to their home pitch advantage and my 3rd preference would be Australia since you can never rule them out.

Here is my ranking for the 10 teams, in the decreasing order of probability of winning CWC 2019:

1. Australia
2. England
3. India
4. South Africa
5. New Zealand
6. West Indies
7. Pakistan

The remaining teams (Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh) have no chance of reaching the playoffs, so I am not including them in the ranking.
7052  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-15] Crytopia Opts for Liquidation Binance for Upgrade on: May 15, 2019, 03:31:54 PM
Cryptopia was not very comfortable with trading and holding Ethereum in its platform. That's why Ether was once delisted from Cryptopia. They always claimed that ETH was very vulnerable to hacking and Cryptopia didn't wanted to hold ETH or tokens from the users. But Cryptopia had to list that coin again as the customers demanded it and petitioned for its inclusion. And in the end, ETH relisting resulted in the complete liquidation of the exchange.
7053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India declines Bitcoin Legalization Again on: May 15, 2019, 03:15:41 PM
It is not your fault that bitcoin is not accepted on India. And it is also not your fault that Indian Government lack knowledge about cryptocurrency. I guess even though they decline its legalization, I guess that nothing will change on your country. Bitcoin will still be usable the way you are using it.

The users are facing practical difficulties and harassment. A huge number of "suspected" users were served tax notices during 2017-18 (the number is rumored to be a few hundred thousands). Almost all the exchanges have closed down, and the remaining ones are moving out of India. The only option for Indians to purchase BTC now is localbitcoins. But I am sure that the government will soon start its crackdown against LBC.
7054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I will eat John McAfee's dick if BTC doesn't trade above $100K by end of 2019. on: May 15, 2019, 03:11:49 PM
Be careful with what you wish for.  Grin

Right now, the exchange rates are in the range of $7,900 - 8,000 per coin and you are expecting a 1250% spike in less than eight months. There are several challenges... the mainstream investors still remember the sharp correction we had after the ATH. This might discourage many from investing in Bitcoin. Another issue is the frequent exchange hacks.
7055  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum goes to the top! on: May 14, 2019, 11:19:47 AM
As of now, it looks like ETH is lagging behind the other cryptocurrencies. It's market share in the crypto market has declined during the past two months. Right now, it is trading at 0.025BTC, which represents almost an 80% reduction from the ATH. I have only one explanation for this - the bad state of the ICO market. The failure rate has increased tremendously with the ICOs and this is having a serious impact upon the ETH exchange rates. But need to remember that it was the same ICOs which propelled ETH to a 100x bull run in 2017.
7056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After Binance have been compromised. on: May 14, 2019, 11:14:00 AM
I think those who really value their money will now prefer to use DEX. Ironically, Binance is soon going to launch its DEX platform. In the Wake of such a large exchange, I think that the others will also start launching their own decentralized platforms.

But what about the KYC requirements? None of the current DEX sites need KYC to trade in them. But in case Binance is opening its own DEX site, would they require KYC or are they going to allow anonymous trading? In case they make KYC mandatory, then we can't call that site as DEX. But it may depend on the jurisdiction where Binance is based. If I am not wrong, Binance is based out of Hong Kong, with additional offices in other countries. I don't know whether the HK regulations allow anonymous trading.
7057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Cricket World Cup - Discussion & Analysis on: May 14, 2019, 11:09:06 AM
If the Indian team manage to win the first couple of matches, they would have adapted to the conditions pretty quickly giving them an advantage over other teams. It won't be easy though since their first couple of matches are against SA and AUS.
I don't think it will be too hard. There was a time India only used to play with the batsman. They almost in all match won by their batting. But now, they have a balanced team and most of the key players are experienced.  I don't think condition will be a issue. They can easily adapt with it.

Yeah... I remember when medium pacers like Venkatesh Prasad used to open the bowling for India (with average speed of 75 mph). Back then, Javagal Sreenath was the only genuine fast bowler. In some of the matches, India used to go with one pacer and three spinners (Kumble was the undisputed king of spin bowling back then). But now, they have a lot of choice with respect to fast bowling - Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Varun Aaron, Umesh Yadav.etc. And many of these guys can bowl in excess of 90 mph.
7058  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 14, 2019, 11:03:47 AM
I was checking the scoreboards of various matches that have happened in England and Ireland during the past few weeks. In almost all of the matches, scores in excess of 300 were recorded. This is very different from the conditions that had prevailed during the cricket world cup of 1999, when most of the teams were struggling to cross 200.

Vishnu Bhai, cricket has changed drastically, try to compare this era with 70's-80's just for fun Cheesy (graveyard for batsmen) Those days are gone when Bowlers used to rule the cricket field

90's was the era when we had Solid competition between Bowlers and Batsmen. But now time has changed for good and arguably bad. Enjoy this change.

You are right. The times have changed. But can't say that I am happy with the changes. In test cricket, both the bowler and the batsmen have equal chances to perform. It is not biased in the favor of any one of them. The same can't be said about the ODI cricket. It is heavily biased in favor of the batsmen. On top of that the bowlers have to deal with rule changes such as free-hit. If the competition is not equal, then in the end it may reduce the enthusiasm levels. I was someone who watched the CWC 1999 as a kid. And I definitely enjoyed the matches then, irrespective of the low team totals.
7059  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Now FREE to JOIN] IPL 2019 Prediction Pool and discussion on: May 14, 2019, 10:32:12 AM
Doni's run out was also a good decision. It was Nigel Llong who have him out, and IMO it was one of the best decisions in this edition of the IPL. From the side angle, when the bails were off no part of the bat was behind the white line.
Is it good decision? I don't think so based on the rules of cricket bails have to come out to gave someone as out but they are giving it when the liht comes out so which makes a frame of out bit earlier which will be enough for most of the time to go for wrong errors and also different angle shows not out on Dhoni's runout so benefit of doubt should go for batsmen as well.

No. When the bails glowed (which happens at the time of impact), Dhoni was short of the crease. The laws state that some part of the bat needs to be behind the line. In the first frame, when the light glowed (not clear whether the bails have moved or not), Dhoni's bat was short of the line. In the next frame, when the bails were clearly dislodged, the bat was on top of the line. But even at this point, no part of the bat was behind the line. If we interpolate the two frames, it is clear that Dhoni was well short.
7060  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Status of WEX (World Exchange Services) on: May 14, 2019, 10:03:42 AM
The BTC-e exchange was set up by two IT engineers (Alexander and Alexei), who previously worked at the Skolkovo Technopark (Moscow, Russia). One of them (Alexander Vinnik) is currently under arrest and will be deported to the United States very soon. I don't know the details of the other guy. But he was probably the one who set up Wex.nz.

Now let's examine what are the options that we have. BTC-e was originally based in Kiev (Ukraine) and they later moved to Bulgaria. I don't have the information for Wex.

In case we want to file a lawsuit, should we do that in Russia, the United States, Ukraine, or Bulgaria?
