Da es letztendlich drum geht, im Schadensfall den Wert ersetzt zu bekommen, muss in jedemfall in der Deklaration drin stecken, das es Geld ist. Kein Sammlerstück mit nur ideelem Wert.
Scheck mit garantierter Einlösung würde es dann am ehesten treffen. Den der Bitcoin betrag ist ja auf der Münze, aber die Münze selbst behält diesen wert nur bis zur Einlösung des Betrags. Danach ist die Münze entwertet. Genauso funktioniert ein Scheck. Nur das die Entwertung in der Bank vorgenommen wird die den Scheck gutschreibt. Und bei den Münzen ist der Besitzer in dieser Funktion tätig. Danach ist das ganze nur noch ein relativ wertloses Sammlerstück.
Zwar treffen einige andere Bezeichnungen teilweise auch zu, aber sie lassen den Geld-aspekt weg.
Man könnte es zwar noch als Wechsel einstufen, aber dazu müsste man den Coin sperren können. Und da das nicht geht, bleibt wohl nur der Scheck.

Man könnte auch argumentieren, daß die "verteilt implementierte Bitcoin Bank" den Scheck gutschreibt. Der Besitzer muss nicht notwendigerweise Teil dieser Bank sein: eine andere Person könnte dies erledigen und den Betrag auf z.B. ein online-wallet gutschreiben. Der Besitzer wäre in diesem Falle nicht teil der "verteilten Bank". |

Some poeple who ordered a while back when my offer had a lower price. That's not a problem, I honored their orders at the old price that was quoted when they ordered.
I hate to complicate things, but I added a rule to OP that an order has to be payed within 48 hours after I give the payment address. I hope you'll understand I can't reserve coins forever, especially not now that I'm running out of stock.

MtGox takes forever to load  I love gox for security and I loved it for the USD-codes. The USD-codes are a thing of the past start April 10th. I'm keeping 50% of my trading balance at mtgox and moved 30% over to bitstamp. Don't know where to put the other 20%... suggestions? Well my bot hasn't been able to connect for the last 20 minutes (I can't even get my open orders...), anyone else having any luck?
you knwo what's funny: my client takes a long time to connect to the socket.io feed (1-5 minutes) and subsequently get delivered a rush of trades that seem to have been stuck. I think prolexic is screwing things up. |

This will sort itself out in time if Bitcoin is worth a damn. Trying to force things will probably result in unintended consequences (and somebody taking your money).
things are already being forced... I think this volatile market will scare many away/.. once the hype dies down the short term guys will get out causing a temporary decrease in price as it restabalizes The volatility also attracts many new people (see my story "a couple" of pages back about a trader-type friend getting all hyped-up looking at clarkmoody). So expect bull pressure during the week after the next one (April 15th). |

Hallo Leute, candoo hat mich soeben kontaktiert und gefragt ob ich bereit wäre, hier "Zeuge" zu sein. Er hat angeboten mir eine Kopie seines Perso, Führerschein, Reisepasses zukommen zu lassen. Sollte ich dann plötzlich hier verschwinden ohne auszahlungen gemacht zu haben darfst du die daten dann den Geschädigten geben.
Er hat mich auch gebeten, für euch seine Bitpay-Zahlungen zu prüfen: Zusätzlich bekommst du alle URLS zu den Bitpay Rechnungen damit du bezeugen kannst dass die BFL bestellung tatsächlich existieren und bestellt wurden?
Ich würde mich grundsätzlich hierfür anbieten sofern mir genügend Vertrauen entgegengebracht wird, würde aber gerne wollen, daß wir gemeinsam genau definieren, wann ich wie zu handeln habe (z.B: wie soll ich Bestellung bei BFL prüfen, was ist ausschlaggebend bzgl. "verschwinden ohne auszahlungen gemacht zu haben" und so weiter). Ich hatte bisher keinen Kontakt zu candoo und er hat mir kein Geld oder sonstige Vorteile versprochen. |

Wie viele wissen verschicke ich Casascius-Münzen durch die halbe Welt. Ich stecke sie in ein Kuvert und verschicke dieses als "Wertbrief International". Zu einem solchen Wertbrief kann mein eine Versicherung kaufen (€1.50 pro €100). Das tue ich bei allen Briefen. ("Wertvolle Gegenstände (außer Bargeld) können Sie zu einem festgelegten Höchstbetrag versenden"). Als ich heute einen Brief für €800 versichert verschickte, wurde ich gefragt, ob auch kein Bargeld drin sei, das sei nämlich nicht versichert. Ich sagte "nein", und erinnerte mich an meine Recherche zu dem Thema. Tja.. sind Casascius Coins Bargeld? Investment-Zertifikate? Anleihen? ungültige Sammlermünzen ohne Edelmetallanteil? Gewinnanteilsscheine? Globalurkunden? Schuldverschreibungen? ...?  Ich glaube ich hatte mich damals damit beruhigt man könne die Coins als Sammlermünzen einstufen. Allerdings sind sie ja nicht "entwertet". Würde mich über eure Einschätzung freuen. |

Instead of stopping sales at some point I decided to increase price to 1.42, 2 coins max per person.
5% recurring customer bonus still applies.
If you think this is a high price you are probably correct. Note however these are 2012 coins and the next batch will be 2013.

Just a quick wrapup and some stats: - Since March 18th (firesale) I've sold 48 coins to 30 different people (average of 1.6 coins per person)
- Demand seems to be increasing. I'm severely running out of coins and Mike Caldwell is under heavy load producing / shipping
- 6 shipments including 7 coins are delayed to the following countries: NZ, US, AUS, UK, ES
- 1 shipment including 1 coin to Finland is waiting for pickup by a lazy recipient (he know who he is)
- All others have received their coins (either reported here or confirmed by tracking)
- All shipments have been generously (at the time) insured by me. However in case of a continued price rise some insurances might turn out to have been insufficient by the time I receive the insurance money, which can take up to 4 months (I still think most shipments will arrive eventually, but at some point, I will have to tie up some fiat to rebuy BTC in order to dampen risk)
- It's a lot of fun to do this and you guys positive feedback made me decide to continue.

This will be interesting if it is the case. I wonder what the impact on price will be if so You can't trade on their page either, pushing "sell" just refreshes the page. Some apparently can trade? I can trade, but only because my client does HTTP-retries on error. As said, about 3-5 tries and the calls succeed. Glad I coded it robustly this way. |

Alright, that does it, I'm just not looking until $150 is hit over the weekend.
it's quite a gut-wrenching day. Today a friend of my colleague was to visit at our office, working. Of course we talked bitcoin... he said it's a total bubble to crash very soon and hard (he's a stock trader type, author of a newsletter). He told me repeatedly to sell all my stash, it's a pump & dump and all that (I guess he's experienced with that, lol). Then he discovered clarkmoody and was blown away by that crazy market activity and observed it closely. He turned around 180 and said completely crazed-out and excited: " this is a total bull market, some dudes are buying like mad, I want in!" (this was after he'd seen the huge sellof down to 125 and subsequent runup). I was laughing my ass off. Later he won > 1 BTC on satoshi dice (starting with BTC 0.1). Totally cracked me up. We might've gained a new bitcoiner today . |
