7121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When BTC crashes, which Alt will hold its fiat value? on: November 24, 2017, 08:04:14 PM
In recent times, I've noticed the pumps of Ethereum/Ethereum Classic when bitcoin is getting dumped up, and vice versa.

Ethereum is really being pump because there's a lot of positive going its way. Mike Novogratz, a former hedge fund manager on Wall Street, has predicted that Ethereum will touch $500 before the end of the year. And I think there are a lot of business interest in the smart contract as well.

So Ethereum is a good choice to hold if ever bitcoin crashes. Other than that I don't see any alts that is good to hold. Actually we already saw some instances that when bitcoin is down, Ethereum price go up. So its obvious that investors are already seeing it as a somewhat a 'back-up' for bitcoin. I doubt about tether though, with the recent hacks, no one will trust this coin anymore.
7122  Economy / Economics / Re: Long term argument for bitcoin on: November 24, 2017, 04:14:35 PM
Market size matters a lot!

Bitcoin is getting popular globally. People know cryptocurrencies through Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a base currency in most of the exchanges. It is being accepted at many stores globally. Banks are integrating it. Countries are legalizing it. There are indeed many Altcoins in the market better than Bitcoin in terms of technology or use cases. But bitcoin is getting global adoption that is increasing its demand. Right now it isn't possible for any altcoin to reach anywhere near it in terms of demand.

You lost me their for a minute. Bitcoin is not yet universally accepted by many stores. Even Amazon has put aside the idea of accepting it. And banks are not integrating it, but the technology behind it - Blockchain is what they are acknowledging. Banks would never accept bitcoin in my opinion.

Definitely bitcoin is the first crypto to attract investors worldwide. By just looking at the price alone, it definitely reach mass acceptance and most sentiments of the people around are very positive. And its now starting to be a store of value or investment for most of us. I don't think that any altcoin today could have a feature like that because they are being used for Pump and Dump only.
7123  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-24] President of Belarus Expected to Sign Decree to Legalize Cryptocurr on: November 24, 2017, 02:32:31 PM
Belarus is entirely in the orbit of Russia's interests. It is part of a single economic Union with Russia. It means that Lukashenko won't be able to introduce the laws governing the circulation of cryptocurrency in the country. Putin is in no hurry to legalize cryptocurrencies in Russia and why it is safe to say that he will put pressure on Lukashenko with the aim to adhere to a unified legislation in this sphere.

But isn't it they are no longer under control of Russia? They are totally independent of each other and it Russia says no to bitcoin or crypto's, it doesn't mean that other states should follow as well. Putin will not legalize crypto in my opinion. But to put pressure on Lukashenko? I don't know how far on Lukashenko will give in such request.

He has his own roadmap for Belarus, and I think he made his decisions already to legalized and regulate it in their country. If he gives in to Putin request then it doesn't look good for his image as President of his country. For now lets consider this another win for the crypto market if he signs this into a law.
7124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'll never buy Bitcoin cash on: November 24, 2017, 12:42:43 PM
$1600+ and rising, and the pump continues...
Will the bubble pop? ..it's a rhetorical question!

They are making another run at it. But at the end, "pumpers will just cash it out". We already saw that before, and I hope that investors will not fall for this scheme again. How many newbies is still trap because they bought it at $2000? Now  it's gaining steam again, but it will not be sustainable in the long term.

It will definitely pop, give them a week or two before those Chinese miners and whales started to dump it as soon as its ripe to take the profits.

And it looks like they are it for another round of attacks:

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-cash-passes-1500-again-as-lead-dev-pronounces-bitcoin-dead

Let's see how this pans out. This fight is gonna be messy but we already know who will emerge as victorious.
7125  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How did you know BITCOIN? on: November 24, 2017, 11:33:24 AM
How did you know bitcoin? On what year and who let you know?

Me... Someone told me about it year 2012 i think., as an innoccent i just stared and thougth it was nothing...if i do believe him before,i would thank him now.

I know bitcoin around 2011-12 when I was still in the online marketing business. I would crossed path with the name of Satoshi and bitcoin or a Satoshi experiment if I'm not mistaken. I also remember that I joined a website that is promoting this so called Satoshi experiment and it says that your USD earnings is convertible into something like a crypto currency (bitcoin) which I don't understand before.

But I totally lost my logins and credentials on that site so I don't know if that it legit or not and paying with bitcoin. Moved forward last year, a friend of mine introduced me to the bitcoin world. And just like all of you, I invested in cloud mining, doubler which yields nothing for me. But now as I matured, I learned do trading to earn a decent amount today and not fall for that kind of trap again.
7126  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-22] Bitcoin Price to End Year at $10,000: Mike Novogratz on: November 23, 2017, 10:45:55 AM
It didn't surprise me. Mike is very bullish about bitcoin and he has a lot of investment in it. And I was not shocked because the demand is getting higher everyday. We are above $8K today and its not slowing down. But this massive bullrun has somewhat in standstill maybe because there are no newcomers to the market, or the price has really reached its peak for now.

But to really push the price to $10K level, I think CME will play a factor. CME is expected to launch their bitcoin futures contract before the end of 2017. So if this come to fruition, $10K will be nothing to bitcoin, it will be just a tip of the iceberg.
7127  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to overcome the fear of holding? on: November 23, 2017, 09:36:33 AM
Fear of holding ? Did you know that any holder that purchased this year BTC have earned 1k% roi ?

That doesn't really address the OP's question. The risk profiles of buying at $8200 today vs. buying at $750 in January are very different. While I do think that BTC will climb higher as we head into the new year, I would be very nervous about long term investment at this level.

If I were buying in for the first time today, I'd probably be looking to sell on a 50-100% gain, then re-buy during the eventual crash. The parabola can't continue forever. It might feel like a "new paradigm" now, but there will be some brutal shakeouts along the way to million dollar bitcoins.
The risk today is lesser than earlier. There is a huge price difference in the current and of January but the users of bitcoin today are too bold to buy bitcoin than the earlier buyers and users. Bitcoin proved itself with time to time, I am pretty much confident to say that bitcoin will gain a tremendous price in the coming three years.

Well sure, in the coming three years. That's not the time frame I had in mind, hence the reference to "buying at $8200 today." I think the price will go a lot higher both in the mid term and long term. In three years, I could see BTC hitting $100k. But there could be extreme volatility between now and then, given how fast the price rose in such little time.

The price could drop in half from here over the next month, and it wouldn't surprise me. Let's just hope that we don't have to wait through another 2-year bear market again. Fingers crossed.

With the current number of investors and whales, I don't think that bitcoin could you on a 2 year bear market as before. The situation now is different, demand is high and bitcoin being offered in different industry like in realty sector.

I also don't agree with the "drop in half" statement, it could drop a little and the max drop I can think of is around 20% in my opinion. Too much at stake right now that investors would go buying in dips that a significant dent is highly unlikely. And the current increase after topping $8000 is kinda slow now, maybe its already saturated and a price correction is needed, but I doubt it will go down that hard.
7128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN vs ETH ? Your thoughts? on: November 23, 2017, 12:46:01 AM
They can't be really compared because each has separate purpose. Ethereum as we all know is a smart contract platform. And its great for creating ERC20 token which we often received in bounty/airdrop campaigns. While bitcoin is now more of a currency and investment platform and its underlying technology - blockchain, is now being used for and applied in different sectors of the society.

But as far as being the more popular and widely used, its still Bitcoin. So my thoughts is that as far as investment, for long term bitcoin should be your logical choice, while Ethereum for short term.
7129  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-22] Bitcoin Will “Never” be Legalized in Russia, Claims Minister on: November 22, 2017, 09:53:59 AM
I'm not surprised at all to see this announcement of a Russia Minister. Its been a a pain seeing Russia make back and forth statement and changing the tone one after the other. And this is expected because how can they legalized something that is beyond their control?

I know they love Ethereum, but the mode suddenly change a little when they decided to have their own cryptocurrency. The only consistent word I'm seeing with them is "Blockchain". I think this is where they are really interested in. They want to take full advantage of this underlying technology that's why they tend to appear to be a bitcoin friendly nation, but behind they are not really interested, but they have an eye on the technology behind it.
7130  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this Forum full of 'normal people' who over the years became filthy rich? on: November 22, 2017, 09:14:14 AM
I think some earlier adopters of bitcoin here are rich as hell. But you can only count them and very few comeback from this forum once bitcoin price skyrocketed. But for casual like us, although we earn or profit bitcoin today, I don't consider we are filthy rich because it will take more years before we can call ourselves rich.

For one, most casuals found bitcoin when it is already above $1000, although its a return of of 800% already, I don't think they have invested big amount because normal people just don't put big investments. They can only buy in dips with small amount of money. And most of them even sold it when their investments makes it to x4. But I guess we are not late though, we can still be rich maybe along the 2-5 year time frame.
7131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: is MyEtherWallet is a safe place to stored? or use as wallet? on: November 22, 2017, 04:57:05 AM
Been using MEW for the last couple of months and so far I haven't experience any breach yet. I bookmark the site so that I won't be able to be phished in case I type it. And on the top center of MEW you will see a warning,

"WARNING: IF YOU CLICK A LINK to MEW from EMAIL, SLACK DM, or a FORUM, YOU WILL HAVE YOUR COINS STOLEN. Do not click.
Instead, install EAL or use MetaMask.
"

So it really depends on how you use your wallet. Never ever divulge your private key to anyone. And always be cautious on any website or link that you click.
7132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and altcoins on: November 22, 2017, 12:59:54 AM
Hello I'm newbie here.pls anyone can tell me what is the difference of bitcoin in altcoins.
Bitcoin and altcoin both are cryptocurrency. But Bitcoin is a first invented cryptocurrency. Other cryptocurrency are altcoins. In digital market Bitcoin is high valuable currency. Because all the miners are access in Bitcoin. But altcoins are some of miners only accessing. So cost of variation is depending on competitors demand. Both are useful in current market. But profit is depends on coin value basis.

There are other 'pre-dated' cryptocurrency before bitcoin. But bitcoin literally took the world by storm and become the mother of all crypto's.

As far as altcoin (alternative coin) and anything not bitcoin is called altcoin. Altcoin exist because they either want to replace bitcoin (highly unlikely to happen) or improved one of bitcoin's design flaw (high transaction fee, slow confirmation time).

7133  Economy / Speculation / Re: Today's (11/20) Sudden Drop on: November 21, 2017, 02:00:32 PM
So I've been watching the coins most interested in throughout the day (BTC, ETH, LTC, GRS, FTC, BCN, VTC, MUSIC) and everything seemed stellar.  At one point, FTC was up 50% from yesterday.

Up until 20:40 when there was a 3 hour long sharp correction across the board in the coins above.  BTC dropped roughly $400 USD, ETH $20, LTC $4, etc. etc.   What would cause this besides whales taking profits across multiple coins?  Alt coin holders being reactionary to BTC?  Trying to understand this market...

I believe it was all Roger Ver, due to the fact as BTC was correcting, BCH, was rising. As soon as it (BTC) started a downward trend I immediately pulled up the price, and sure enough BCH was on the rise, now it has reversed again. Coincidence, I don’t think so.

They already made their moved already, but they failed, so I don't think they are going at it this early. They still consolidating and maybe try to make one attempt again in the future. Let's see.

It's just the normal drop because some users sell off their bitcoins, and i see nothing wrong about that. You should worrying if Bitcoin dip to $3000-$4000, that time somebody did something to make Bitcoin dip that hard. Don't worry too much, Everything will back to normal well it is on the normal state right now.

Just consider the OP is a newbie, a minor drop is a big cause for a alarm. But yes, this is just a normal drop but I'm seeing bitcoin today hitting $8200 once again So the fear should be subside by now. To the OP, just stay and don't be nervous when you see dips, it just normal, as stated, maybe they are just cashing out and enjoying the profit. The more you stay in the ecosystem, the more you will understand how this drop in price sometimes is healthy to the market.
7134  Economy / Economics / Re: Legalizing Bitcoin on: November 21, 2017, 01:34:30 PM
For most governments I think it is not that simple.

First because many people know the word "bitcoin" but not what it represents actually. Then, because allowing such currency means necessarily acknowledging the existence of the iceberg of transactions around bitcoin. Not that easy.

Legalizing bitcoin would be indeed really interesting but I think most governments are not ready  Grin

Some government are not yet ready because because that a lot of negative connotation about it. But I really don't get my government is really avoiding bitcoin. It may be that they don't know what 'bitcoin' is, but there are already countries like Japan who have already set precedence. All they can do is follow the lead of Japan and I think it will be just fine.

I guess its really hard to removed the bad images of bitcoin that has been portrayed already. And it looks like it has struck to the government around the world. So we have to face that fact that some countries are going to be friendly, but majority of it as against bitcoin.
7135  Economy / Economics / Re: The value of bitcoin? on: November 21, 2017, 07:38:17 AM
The value of bitcoin now a days is becoming more predictable for the early investors of bitcoin. One of my friend, who is one of the few people I knew who believes in bitcoin back in days and invest why bitcoin is on its earlier stage. He once told me a forecast about whats going to happen on bitcoin in the month. And the month after, the thing that he told me to happen really happens. That is how experienced investor be like when they already become knowledgeable on the market trend of bitcoin.
I don’t think they are able to predict anything, they just guess and call a high price knowing that it will one day reach that rate. And for how the price of Bitcoin is determined, I believe it is not by the level of labor that is being put in, it is by amount of investment that was made by investors.

One of my friends normally says the Bitcoin price is mostly speculations, but as someone who is on the side of Bitcoin, I wouldn’t say such thing. As for predicting the market, it takes a lot of experience to do that, but not all predictions works.

I'm also on the side that bitcoin is nothing but a speculative market. We can't deny that. That's why TA or any analysis is not applicable on bitcoin ecosystem because its just an educative guess. But what we are now seeing is something extraordinary, people are buying bitcoin in hope that the price will increase in the future.

Being said that, in order to really increase the price, one must not only buy it, but rather used it. I mean when we have bitcoins, do we spend it or just hold on it? Personally, I do both, spend it sometimes and even convert it to fiat to really take advantage because bitcoin is not being accepted by most online sites, and they a few stash for me to hold, just in case bitcoin rose to $10000.
7136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: An Ethereum Startup Just Vanished After People Invested $374K on: November 21, 2017, 02:26:28 AM
Damn. I saw signature campaigns around last September if I'm not mistaken run by Atriz and the terms is like participants are going to be paid if they made like $50K the minimum, I try to follow it because I want to join that signature campaign before, however, I'm still a low rank member then and its only accepting Full Member at least.

I wonder how can they pull this stunt after people have already invested on them. Legal trouble? I doubt it. This is just another scam. I really thought that the project is solid and legit however, even a measly $300K is enough, I don't know if they are going to give back the money, but most likely not. This kind of ICO's really hurt a true and legitimate ICO putting put up.
7137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffet: The Idea that Bitcoin has Value “Is Just a Joke” on: November 21, 2017, 01:27:13 AM
I think Warren is just trolling. Because he didn't really understand how bitcoin is being considered today. Right now many people is considering bitcoin as money. With that said, its no joke for most of us here. Bitcoin is not only an asset or commodity but is becoming a currency. So the idea that is a joke is thrown out of the window.

He is maybe just a old school investors that's why he can't really grasp what bitcoin is. See why bankers are afraid of bitcoin? Because the flow of the cash in going to the bitcoin ecosystem. Which means they are losing real cash here. Those that are really involved in fiat investing doesn't really know how crypto's work, that's why they don't like investing on it. For them fiat(money) is the best investment, however if you see bitcoin its becoming 'real cash' as well.

7139  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think bitcoin be bullish in 2018? on: November 19, 2017, 11:39:19 PM
I am really trying to picture what the market cap would be like next year as the adoption is going to turn out massive than what we have had this year. So many countries are really looking into the blockchain technology at this moment; a lot of companies are looking at how they can make things work as they partake in the technology as well. However, my main worry now is the transaction fee as well as the long period of confirmation which is not really speaking well, but with the LN being established, it would really bring a huge positive impact.

We have literally been spoiled with how the market has increased nearly 700% in less than 12 months. However, we shouldn't expect it to stretch out all the way till next year similarly. I am confident in a further increase for sure, but nothing like what we have experienced this year, and that while there is still more than a month to go. If we maintain the bullishnes, we might attempt to reach $20,000 next hear in the best scenario, but let's first see how things are when it comes to CME. They have the ability to push this market closer to $20,000 than I think is possible right now. Obviously, that's assuming they manage to get an approval.
now bitcoin prices are very surprising ,, but we are all still save for next year ,, and hope the price will increase drastically .. I was convinced that the current price is still cheap if we compare with next year ,, one of the risks is when found a drastic price collapse .. it could happen when transaction costs do not make sense

We have seen the transaction cost being the real issue of bitcoin? But why is the price still skyrocketing? It doesn't make sense. However, the reason that I'm seeing why bitcoin is still rising despite the high cost of transaction is that it has gained the confidence and trust of most of all investors, not just investors but big time investors. So this march will still continue up to 2018 and we can see bitcoin trying to test $10K early 2018.

It will be a heck of a ride and its gonna be fun, so matter what the transaction cost is, its doesn't matter, as long as investors are pouring in cash, there will be no problem and the price will continue to rise, I guess.
7140  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Patience and Holding on: November 19, 2017, 10:10:29 PM
This is a lesson for you. With altcoins, you should trade, with Bitcoin, holding is the best choice.

Of course altcoin is not for long term hold. They are very volatile and we all know that most of them are really just being pump and then later will be dump to take home profits. That's how it is. If you really want long term investment, bitcoin is the only choice. Just look at how it grows this year. If you started to buy it in January but this time you can realized that you already made a good profit. You are in the range of x7 in your investment. Although altcoins are really good to invest, you should be very careful and trade them with cautions. Only few coins are really good for short term, other are cheap as well but that what we call shitcoins and never invest on them.
