7161  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does Decaying sMerits will be healthy for the forum? on: May 28, 2019, 05:01:38 AM
Theymos might or might not implement that option anything soon, I don't think it'll have any impact because those who still don't want to participant in the meriting process still won't care if their smerit decay or not. Beside theymos has other options if he notice a sudden decline in circulation of smerits which is appointing new sources (which he just did few weeks back) or increasing the allocation of current sources.
7162  Economy / Reputation / Re: Hhampuz Reputation Thread on: May 27, 2019, 05:34:45 PM
Now I wish this was a self moderated thread so you could have filtered the off-topic spam off the thread so when interested forum users or projects hoping to hire you for future campaigns comes to read this reputation thread they won't be discourage (from reading the thread) because of all the nonsense off-topic spam I'm seeing from users their red tagged is like that of BTC during bear market.
7163  Other / Meta / Re: Post quality - evaluation on: May 27, 2019, 02:58:48 PM
Your second deleted post can be categorize as an irrelevant replies i.e replies that don't actually add any value or anything useful to the discussion at hand and most times this type of replies are used by spammers to boost their post count. (Note I'm not calling you a spammer but that reply of yours wasn't necessary) let your merits do the talking no need for irrelevant feedbacks.

As for your first post since it contains a question maybe the same question must have been previously asked and answered so maybe moderator saw it as a duplicate.

But after viewing both OP that your post were deleted from I can conclude none of your replies were contributive to.the discussion of the thread so moderators were right in deleting both posts.
7164  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please make me know the usefulness of this forum as a new member. on: May 27, 2019, 12:40:33 PM
The forum was founded by satoshi now managed by theymos, the reason behind the creation must have been to create a forum where information related to bitcoin/blockchain can be discussed but currently the forum have expended to accomodating other discussion other than bitcoin which includes cryptocurrency (Altcoins), exchanges, ICO/IEO, airdrop, bounty etc.

So for the usefulness of the forum, it can serve as a social media for cryptocurrency enthusiast, a news media to get the lastest development in the industry, a learning/teaching center to acquire knowledge on blockchain/cryptocurrency technology or pass on knowledge to the next generation of cryptocurrency enthusiast etc (the usefulness of the forum is numerous, you just have to choose which best suits you).

And as for the benefits, the most important is you get a first class access to scam or possible scam related projects, airdrop, bounties, ICO etc on scam Accusation board before it even gets to the news media to prevent you from falling prey to scammers. Other benefits have already been highlighted in the usefulness section of this post above and also you can monetize your signature, profile url or text and avatar for some bitcoin/Altcoin.
7165  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some suggestions to future merit giveway thread starters on: May 27, 2019, 11:46:45 AM
It is true that more merited threads tend to catch attention of readers, but it is personal rights of merit-giveway topics' authors. They have rights to do anything they want.

That's why the thread is titled suggestion and beside irrespective of what ever right you have, you have to make use of the system rightly. merit was introduced to highlight quality post that means technically any post we see merits on are supposed to classified as quality post and not link to quality. It's understandable when you send merit to a member for highlighting other users post worth meriting (not necessary) you can as well look through his history for a quality post he/she have written and merit it. but if you're to merit the user that submitted his own post then go merit the main post not link to post. There's a reason why he submitted the link to that post so if you want to reward his contribution, do it on his main post. It's a suggestion.

Also what're you trying to correct on my OP, the word is spelled recieved and that's how I wrote it.
7166  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Theymos became Administrator. on: May 27, 2019, 06:12:57 AM
I would had summarize everything but it's best you get it from the horses mouth himself.

It's surprising how well-documented history can become totally forgotten... Satoshi created the forum on Nov 22, 2009, and was head administrator until almost 2011. Then Sirius was head administrator until 2012, which is when I took over.

Cobra also owns the bitcointalk.org domain name. I consider the forum to be basically owned by or at least dedicated to the Bitcoin community, though; I don't call anyone an owner of the forum.

7167  Other / Meta / Re: Need advice from respected big rank members for cleaning Indian local board on: May 27, 2019, 04:35:41 AM
1. You're only allowed to report spam or off topic post, reporting post just because it is in english will be marked bad as posting with english on local board isn't against forum rules.

2. Sure, irrespective of when a post was made if you observe it's a low quality post (spam) you're free to report and it's left for the moderators to decide whether to delete post or not delete. Don't forget forum members are also getting ban for plagiarism of post even as far back as 2010-2014. So there's no excuse for spam or low quality posts.

3. English is the universal language of the forum so it can be used on all board. e.g if a non native user has very important message to pass on a local board using english instead of google translator is idea.

BTW: Collectively as local board users, you guys can set local rules on each of your started threads indicating that only India should be used for communication this will encourage the use of India on the board.
7168  Other / Beginners & Help / Some suggestions to future merit giveway thread starters on: May 26, 2019, 08:34:31 PM
Haven kept an updated merit giveway thread from different users for the last 4months+ I have notice some common mistakes or will i say misuse of the merit system from different giveways threads starters and I'll like to give some suggestion.

If you're thinking of starting a giveway thread, this thread [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source can serve as a perfect example of how your giveway should be structured and how it should be managed. The style of your thread is a personal choose but you should try to keep the thread as clean and decent as possible to avoid misuse therefore;

  • Style of meriting your applicants:  You have to understand merit was implemented to highlight quality posts so when a link to a post is submitted it'll be more appropriate to merit the submitted post not link to submitted post. As meriting the link simple means you're highlighting that post as a quality post instead of the main post the link was supposed to redirect to.

Also meriting the main post instead of link is more beneficial to the OP as merited post are likable to draw more attention of reader and also other meriters which might give the OP additional advantages in recieving more merit on his post but on the link it has no benefits so if you're using the meriting on link to serve as a form of recognition of deserving post, you can do that with reply after the main post most have recieved merits.

  • Most advisable to use a self moderated thread: A self moderated thread helps you moderate spam/off topic reply on your thread which in return helps reduce the workload on moderators in regards to reviewing off topic or spam posts.

  • Use a submission format: To make things easier for you to review, you should employ a submission format for your applicants instead of just requesting for a link. Maybe you can ask for the category the post they're submitting can fit in example; was the post a guide, opinion, technical reply, analysis, help to other forum user etc something that give you an idea of what you should look out for when reading their post.

  • Put more emphasis on past unmerited post: To avoid getting taking advantage of, you should concentrate on unmeriting past contributions that must have been missed since that was the initial idea behind giveway threads that way new post or reply won't be made just to take advantage of your merit giveway thread and over time this criteria can be adjusted to accommodate more future posts.

I choosed the beginner and help board to post this information as it's the most likely board for merit giveways threads. Hope I get my message across.
7169  Other / Meta / Re: Infographic Stealing on: May 26, 2019, 03:14:42 PM
No, but there is a difference between using a random picture or meme like in your example, and posting someone else's infographic without a source.

But they all can be categorize as image right? yes of course. so if you are to punish a user for posting a "infographic image without source" then you should punished those who post meme, and other images, picture etc without link to source too which just sounds funny to my hearing. Like I said before if this images have been edited, removing creators identification like watermark, name etc and posting it as theirs (i.e claiming ownership of the infographic image with their own name, watermark etc when posting), then we can consider those cases as plagiarism but for an infographic image like every other images just been shared I see no problem with that since such act doesnt present itself as claiming ownership of the infographic image as plagiarism posts does.

The creators of each infographic image should add a watermark to their image so we can easily identify who the owners are when we see them. But if they don't then don't blame the sharer for not linking a source, we shouldn't distract ourselves now, the crime here is plagiarized post/article these are what the shitposters are getting paid for not images.
7170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: --< Building your future on the price of Bitcoin >-- on: May 26, 2019, 01:10:07 PM
Taking profit is something I engaged in, in the past and was successful at it but tried this recently and it backfired although then I was operating under some frustration. The best option has always involved hodling until your target is reached although taking some profit and rebuying when the opportunity presents itself isn't that bad but you shouldn't encourage everyone to partake in this strategy because most investors in the community aren't mature for what you just suggested. This suggestion is just like trading and not everyone can succeed at it.

Do what suits you, if you aren't ok with taking seasonal profits (currently I know I'm not) then stick to hodling your bitcoin, it has always been the best option.
7171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Some suggestions on unique Altcoins to research on on: May 26, 2019, 12:43:53 PM
My best pick of undervalued coin will be QLCchain (QLC) on binance. QLC has many cool development updates, you can check their github repository. For instance, QLCchain already launched counter  Telecom fraud platform, mainnet already up but coins will be swapped from NEP5 later,  QLC holders will soon be able to stake QGAS from 28th May on the web wallet, IOS wallet coming up, and also wincash launch coming.

Done some quick research on this suggestion, the current price looks promising judging from the best known all time high but their idea isn't that unique since it has to do with decentralization of network as a service aka wifi, Mobile data kinda stuff or am I wrong? also the neo blockchain it's based on isn't that encouraging as new itself is dying off mainstream media. I'll keep an eye on the project but that's not what I'm searching for.
7172  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How do you feel about businesses that stop accepting Bitcoin? on: May 26, 2019, 10:04:51 AM
e.g for the double spending factor, they will only accept payment with at least one confirmation. Simple as that.
I actually don't think accepting zero-confirmations transactions is that terrible a thing to do for small volume trades. Let me explain a bit.

I get what you're saying but here is the catch, with those third party service providers like credit cards, the identify of the customers in regards to name, address of residence etc aren't anonymous but when it comes to bitcoin none of these things are necessary so it's easier for them to go away with fraud using bitcoin which is why the 1 confirmation requirement is necessary.
7173  Economy / Reputation / Re: Stake.com (SteveStake) is encouraging spam. on: May 26, 2019, 09:41:12 AM
These people are always participating in signature campaigns such as chip mixer to appear like they are on another level. We had members like Pharmacist crapping out line after line with no real knowledge of how bitcoin even works, couldn't even understand a very basic equation.

Now i see where the hate is coming from lol. If you're that intelligent as you claim to be then you would understand there is actually more to Bitcointalk than just understanding how the technology works. The forum has out grown it's initial purpose to accommodating other cryptocurrency and aspect of our everyday life like politics etc. Next time you come across these posts, relax yourself read and reread again but if you still don't see some sense in what they have written then go seek for help because the problem is from you not them.

But its totally off topic to this discussion. Roll Eyes

We are discussing on spam related issues here so don't think it's off topic.

7175  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How do you feel about businesses that stop accepting Bitcoin? on: May 26, 2019, 06:55:54 AM
I'll say they didn't understand the technology they intended to embrace but just followed the hype of bitcoin and started accepting bitcoin then when things didn't go as they expected they gave up just like new investors who FOMO into buying bitcoin because of the quick money mentality and when things don't go as they planned they give up.

Before a business starts accepting bitcoin as a payment option they should have been aware of all those factor we highlighted here and search for better mechanism to combat them. e.g for the double spending factor, they will only accept payment with at least one confirmation. Simple as that.
7176  Other / Meta / Re: [UNBAN APPEAL] account newinbtc on: May 26, 2019, 06:24:51 AM
With all those copy and paste posts, this has to be a bought account that was rank-up through plagiarism or the account was built on spamming of plagiarism post to rank up by account owner. There's every possibility that there are more plagiarism posts. If human can find this number just imagine how many the bot will find
7177  Other / Meta / Re: Infographic Stealing on: May 25, 2019, 08:48:11 PM
Lets not complicate things here if we start going after infographic thefts that means we have to go after image (picture) thefts too because most infographic information on the forum are in the form of images. For those infographic that have copyright or watermark (sorry don't know if that was the right word to use) but I means those infographic that have a form of identification of creator, if those type of infographic are edited, removing the creators identify in the process and rebroadcasted as theirs then that can be considered as plagiarism but for those who don't have a form of identity of creator, they can always be rebroadcast since the plagiarism rules on the forum isn't that strict on rebroadcasting of image on the forum. Although if those information were created by member of forum and they were gotten from forum then it's best to qoute the infographic directly from OP or it will be considered plagiarism.
7178  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BestMixer is gone, seized by the Financial Crime Investigation on: May 25, 2019, 06:40:45 PM
What really funny is actually a reaction of hero members that praised and prayed to bestmixer making of it a big example to other mixers.

This is what you basically get when you talk bullshit about other mixers.

So where are you heading with this statement of yours lol. The situation bestmixer currently find themselves in, has nothing to do with their downgrading of other mixers. it was just a business strategy they employed. Irrespective of whether your downgrade other mixer or not, if the government body have you under their radar they'll come for you.
7179  Economy / Reputation / Re: Stake.com (SteveStake) is encouraging spam. on: May 25, 2019, 06:21:02 PM
I think there should be a thread regarding this issue on META,then it may get attention of theymos and will conclusion to all these spam invaders just like what happened to YOBIT.

Anyone agrees that it needs to be moved to META now?

Be rest assured theymos has already seen this thread beside during the time of the whole yobit madness this signature campaign was also mentioned numerous times but I guess the fact the campaign is been managed from the forum is what's still keeping it active.

For now, we can only report spam post then wait for moderators to do their jobs if you feel it still needs theymos's intervention you can send him a DM with link to thread, no need moving thread to meta.
7180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DigitexFitures (DGTX) isn't an exit scam project, give it sometime. on: May 25, 2019, 01:16:56 PM
OP, you are advocating way too much on DGTX and I don't believe that the people will trust you about your statement that is not a paid post or advertisement.

Not associated to the project in any form although I bought some more token which I was privilege to buy around 0.02cents recently after the whole dumping process occured. I see something in the project I followed it from ICOs even when it reach a all time high of 0.1+ cents. Most Altcoin are just duplicates of already existing coins in regards to the utility they offer but I see something different in this particular token (I might be wrong but let's give the token something to prove itself).
