7161  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Looking to start a Bitcoin-based investment, need advice on: August 03, 2014, 08:11:38 AM
Anyone doing this would be violating the sanctions that the US has on Iran. They are there for a reason, because the Iran government is associated with terrorism and because of their pursuit of nuclear weapons. If you were to do this then you would be essentially be funding terrorism.

Possibly however alternative banking systems is a necessary requirement for the citizens in those countries
A mechanism of exchange that is psuedoanonymous like Bitcoin could fill that niche one because addresses can be associated to people if they register an account at those exchanges and two it can be altered in a way to allow trade to commence without to many legal complications between individuals.

Anyways as a point Bitcoin is considered Sharia Compliant but you can't call it interest as thats Usury ^_^.
7162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I view all my wallet balance in microbitcoins..Do you too? on: August 03, 2014, 08:05:20 AM
Full Bitcoin even on the mobile version
Just makes it easier to differentiate in my opinion although some people like Mbtc
7163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who buys alt-coins ? on: August 03, 2014, 07:59:31 AM
you said it beacuse it's cheap, and buying a high amount at cheap price is better than 2 darkcoin at 0.01..

So buyers that give X value are the ones hoping it's value will go up ? I don't see how that wouldn't collapse after a while. Maybe the first buyers do profit, but eventually people start to lose money.

It depends on if X is assumed to have a utility or function that may make it useful in the future
Example LTC was/is considered the Asic alternative to Bitcoin and therefore a sister coin to Bitcoin.
DRK is considered more anonymous with RC3 through its Master Nodes which allow for groupings of transactions
And then some of the other coins try different things to differentiate them so as long as people see a potential use or need for X they may be willing to purchase them.

I have read that Canada has strict laws about meat imports. I am not sure about jerky though. I will try to find out.

Thanks tried a quick search but couldn't be sure myself kept getting wishy washy answers to it so thanks for trying to find out best be safe.
If your traveling apparently its 20KG but mail shipping it from the USA is a question mark.

http://www.inspection.gc.ca/food/information-for-consumers/travellers/what-can-i-bring-into-canada-/eng/1389648337546/1389648516990
Meat and poultry products (for example, jerky, sausages, deli meats and patties, fois gras)

up to 20 kilograms per person
packages must have identifying marks, indicating what the product is
proof of country of origin may be required
7165  Economy / Services / Re: [DiceBitco.in] [Make the most out of your sig!] Make coins by simply posting! on: August 03, 2014, 07:31:45 AM
Thanks guys! Smiley I made it myself from scratch (for free, unless he wants to donate lol). Took some time but I also think it looks nice.

I like the fonts in the new one - the old one used fonts that I don't have, so it looked kind of ugly. But I preferred the black background that's currently in my signature.

Am I allowed to keep the signature I'm currently using? Or better still, have the new one with a dark background?

Hmm that does use the full privileges of the Hero Tier
Color in the background and it makes it look clearer and easier on the eyes (in my opinion) not a bad tweak in my opinion but this is for DiceBitcoin to decide on.
7166  Economy / Goods / Re: buy beef with bitcoins on: August 03, 2014, 04:55:05 AM
I went to place a first time order and noticed no T-bones on the price list. Are these available? If not, I'll just grab some extra ribeyes and sirloins instead. Also, please remember to let us know when the jerky is available.
.   I don't currently have T bones but if there is interest, I certainly can get some T Bones nest time . I have two steers going in on August 13. that meat will be ready early Sept. If anyone wants T bones, or any other cut not currently offered, let me know and I will get it.
I am getting about 50 lb of jerky made also it will be ready late Sept. It comes in 4 oz packages. Anyone interested in preordering please let me know so I can set enough aside for you.

I might be interested in the jerky since the meat might not make it to Canada because the ice almost melted reading back a while ago and that was just in the USA.
Jerky however has a bit of a longer lifespan so I'm curious if those can be shipped up North  Wink
7167  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-06-11] “Woohoo!” Expedia announces Bitcoin acceptance on: August 03, 2014, 04:49:28 AM
Just want to report that I used Expedia to book a hotel a few weeks ago which was a painless process.  I had to cancel that booking today because of a typhoon approaching Korea and I was worried because I don't have a Coinbase account and wasn't sure if I was going to be able to receive a refund.  Well, I clicked the cancel reservation button, confirmed and Expedia immediately sent the refund to Coinbase.  I created an account and bam, I had the btc refund in my own wallet within an hour.
Great implementation both for booking and for refunds.  Beats the F&*&# out of using credit cards.
Peace

Holy crap, was the market value of those btcs based on the price of a bitcoin at purchase or at refund?

I.e. did.they giv you your USD spent amount back, or your btc spent amount back?
I did check that of course and they gave me USD spent amount back.  So btc is worth less today then a month ago. I received a little bit more btc back than I spent.

That's nice of them and I guess with expedia the convenience of converting it straight back to fiat through coinbase means that regardless of when they make the transaction they will still be able to convert it back at an equivalent fiat rate.
Thanks for sharing that medicine
7168  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anyone following the ebola outbreak? on: August 03, 2014, 04:44:47 AM
Well that's 1 of 2 people in the Hospital now hes hanging out in Atlanta

U.S. doctor with Ebola arrives in Atlanta
Dr. Kent Brantly — infected while treating Ebola patients in Liberia — to be joined at Emory University Hospital by a second American patient within a couple of days.

An American doctor infected with the Ebola virus in Africa was able to walk from an ambulance into an Atlanta hospital Saturday after he arrived in the U.S. on a specially equipped plane, officials say.

It marks the first time anyone infected with Ebola, considered one of the world’s deadliest diseases, is believed to have been brought into the U.S. for treatment.
7169  Economy / Economics / Re: Is 1 bitcoin a decent and good investment? on: August 03, 2014, 04:40:39 AM
I'm saving 50$ each month to try to build one bitcoin but I fear that in some months the value will be too high.
This is called dollar cost averaging. When you buy over time, sometimes the price will be lower and sometimes the price will be higher. This will prevent you from spending all of your investible money when the price is at it's peak, but it also means that you won't buy when it is at it's lowest. IMO this is a very good way to invest in anything over the long term.

DCA is a good strategy regardless of what some investment pundits say about going all in at one time
Anyways best of luck with your task mobius it should be possible to get to 1 bitcoin at that rate if you combine it with some minor revenue generation here as well.

If not and the price booms a bonus since it will have more value ^_^
If it drops over the next few months your position will be for the better.
7170  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-08-02] PayPal Hosts Packed ‘Introduction to Bitcoin’ Event on: August 03, 2014, 04:37:39 AM
Yeah well PayPal has no right to talk Bitcoin until they start protecting paypal transactions involving bitcoin sales.

Well its gone from we will look into Bitcoin to we will hold public conferences on Bitcoin
It seems to be progressing a bit now still a ways from integration with paypal although they might do it with coinbase or bitpay in the future at this rate or nom them lol.

7172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will dogecoin become like Bitcoin? on: August 03, 2014, 04:14:45 AM
Dogecoin needs to close its open coin cap to even think to survive. 80 Billion coins is insane. even the miners are giving up on it. Too bad too because it has a great active community.

A reformatting of the coin might eventually occur but the question is how they would divide its coinage
Anyways that's a discussion for the miners and the developers who want to fork it.
7173  Economy / Services / Re: Pocket Rockets Casino | Signature Advertising Campaign |Featuring Weekly Payouts on: August 03, 2014, 04:06:03 AM
A QR Code sounds good, I will tell Dean.

Edit: @Swordsoffreedom some advice on the side: watch the max payout % for "other" *wink* dice sites before investing. JD almost got killed by nakowa back in the days Wink

Awesome that will be more convenient for users to deposit in the future and I do remember the Nakowa days although the equivalent of JD in dogecoin was Dogedice and that thing was well into the green didn't get owned by a Nakowa I think ^_^ So feeling lucky
Or I'll have to try and pull a nakowa then come back in  Wink
Anyways as a secondary task the dogestats would be neat to see as well.

7174  Economy / Speculation / Re: Argentina Defaults 2nd time in 13 years! on: August 03, 2014, 03:55:20 AM
Isn't Argentina the country with the super-laid back president?

No, Argentina is a country with a woman-who-has-absolutely-no-idea-what-she-is-doing for president. I.e. B. H. Obama with boobs.

FTF Someone.

For general knowledge I guess she has more of a tan so would lean to Obama with boobs than Bush with boobs lol  Roll Eyes

And
Paul Singer is an A@@@hole of the highest order, that's clear
Sucks for the people of Argentina

@ At Paul Singer that's why they were called junk bonds you don't get market rate off them
http://www.forbes.com/sites/afontevecchia/2014/07/31/argentina-in-default-everyone-lost-from-cristina-kirchner-and-paul-singers-elliott-to-judge-griesa/

Things couldn’t have come out worse.  Everyone lost: Argentina defaulted on its sovereign debt for the second time in nearly 13 years, the holdout bond holders were left empty handed, and Federal Judge Thomas Griesa’s strategy to force Argentine to negotiate a settlement with the so-called venture funds failed.  Furthermore, a last ditch effort by a group of Argentina bankers led by Banco Macro’s Jorge Brito fell through at the last second.

The decade-long legal battle between a group of hedge funds led by billionaire Paul Singer’s Elliott Management and the Argentine government, which is by no means done, resulted in the worst possible scenario.  At the stroke of midnight on Thursday in New York, Argentina once again entered into a state of default, as holders of its restructured debt didn’t receive interest payments for $539 million.  Credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s downgraded the country’s rating to selective default.

Beyond the consensus opinion among U.S. commentators that the administration of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner is solely responsible for this outcome, blame is widespread and encompasses practically every actor involved.  And while the fallout of the default wasn’t immediately discernible, failure to find a solution in the short-term could lead to dire consequences for the people of Argentina and all of the country’s creditors, from exchange bondholders to the holdouts.

7176  Other / Meta / Re: The definitive explanation of how activity works! on: August 02, 2014, 07:21:47 AM

He need another roughly 354 days to become a hero. 1 activity per day and its is updated every 14 days.

       480 days
    -  126 days
--------------
       354 days

Your right I meant to deduct the remaining days from that total
I guess it would be 1 a day so 480 days to become a hero from scratch
Never though of it that way just 1 a day to 480 plus or minus the first 14
7177  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: August 02, 2014, 07:12:29 AM
