7181  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Start on: December 09, 2017, 03:15:46 AM
Get a USB stick... create a new text file on it... copy/paste the private keys into the text file... take the usb stick to the other computer... copy/paste the keys from it.

If you didn't use Armory that much, you'll only need a few of the private keys to get all your coins.

I would recommend you actually create a new "Standard" wallet in Electrum with a 12 word seed... and then transfer any recovered bitcoins from the wallet with the imported Armory private keys to the new wallet... then start using the new wallet.

Impossible to tell who the owner is unless that address has been publicly posted somewhere... but based on the volume and size... it's either an exchange, a mixer or a gambling website Tongue

EDIT: Ok, so according to Bitcoin Who's Who? http://bitcoinwhoswho.com/address/1LASN6ra8dwR2EjAfCPcghXDxtME7a89Hk

That address is linked via this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMarkets/comments/4x3frd/will_somebody_confirm_here_when_they_actually/?sort=new

which leads to this transaction: https://blockchain.info/tx/ef1d5413f0ffb4b562365264f981f93d78f06867001a989091e14d223223d70b

and links the address with: 1Kr6QSydW9bFQG1mXiPNNu6WpJGmUa9i1g

Which is apparently an address belonging to Bitfenix... so it's a good chance, that the coins ended up in Bitfenix. I don't think this really helps you at all... and I doubt Bitfenix will care. Undecided
7183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: unconfirmed transaction on: December 09, 2017, 03:05:33 AM
Have just accelerated this using ViaBTC and AntPool... honestly, I don't think AntPool works anymore... but you never know Tongue

It'll probably be mined by ViaBTC.

EDIT: They just mined it, you're welcome Wink  Grin

7184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to get into bitcoin wallet on: December 09, 2017, 02:00:36 AM
I have a question/problem... Years ago i got a small portion of a bitcoin for my birthday present. All my friend wrote in a email to me was that i should follow a link to blockchain wallet site ( https://blockchain.info/wallet). I dont have any password, all i have is a user name or something (its 36 character - number and letters).
I have no idea, how to get into a wallet? What should i do to get my bitcoin?
Does this 36 characters look something like: 590a39fd-1231-12ab-87ba-65f7b057c2e7

If so, that is a blockchain.info "wallet ID"... you could try going here: https://blockchain.info/wallet/#/login/ and entering it as the walletID, but I'm not sure what you'd use for a password tho? You'd probably need to ask your friend if they remember how they set it up? Huh

Maybe you could just try using the walletID as the password as well? or "password" or you date of birth or "happy birthday" or something like that Wink
7185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core & pruning mode on: December 09, 2017, 01:51:50 AM
The parameter is the number of blocks.
are you sure?

Reduce storage requirements by enabling pruning (deleting) of old blocks. This allows the pruneblockchain RPC to be called to delete specific blocks, and enables automatic pruning of old blocks if a target size in MiB is provided. This mode is incompatible with -txindex and -rescan. Warning: Reverting this setting requires re-downloading the entire blockchain. (default: 0 = disable pruning blocks, 1 = allow manual pruning via RPC, >550 = automatically prune block files to stay under the specified target size in MiB)

Given that blocks used to be 1MiB... it would have been the same... since SegWit and the slightly larger than 1MiB blocks, it is likely that it won't be the same anymore Wink Either way, OP still got the number out by a factor of 1000 Tongue
7186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [SOLVED] Prune setting in bitcoin.conf not working on: December 09, 2017, 01:36:52 AM
Are you using a custom datadir or the Bitcoin Core default? What does it say for "datadir" on the "Help -> Debug Window -> Information" window?

what is the value of your "prune" setting in bitcoin.conf?
7187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: need help! Transaction between my wallets DOESNT EXIST ON BLOCKCHAIN on: December 08, 2017, 06:26:12 PM
Pretty much your only recourse is to contact your exchange and ask them what is going on... They're the ones who supposedly created the transaction and broadcast it. However, it doesn't look like the transactions ever made it out of their system.

What exchange were you sending from? Huh
7188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Doubt] Where is the datadir path configured with the wizard? (Bitcocoin-qt.exe) on: December 08, 2017, 09:20:47 AM
The latest versions of Bitcoin support multiple wallets... You should be able to specify which one you want to use at runtime...

Read here: https://bitcoin.org/en/release/v0.15.0#multi-wallet-support

You don't need to maintain multiple copies of the blockchain!
7189  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Can't get armory online on: December 08, 2017, 09:14:20 AM
It seems like Armory can't find your blocks folder... Did you configure Bitcoin Core to use a custom data directory? Or is it running from C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin ?

If it's in a custom directory... Did you configure Armory with the correct path?

Can you post the full logs? Please use Pastebin (Don't paste the log text into a post here) and post the Pastebin link here
7190  Other / MultiBit / Re: Please Help: 2BTC locked because "The password did not unlock the wallet" on: December 08, 2017, 09:08:12 AM
Sounds like a sync issue... Also note that bread wallet is only useful for MultiBit HD users... MB Classic doesn't have a seed Wink

Still, good to hear a success story! Might help someone else in the same situation Wink
7191  Other / MultiBit / Re: Question on course of action on: December 08, 2017, 04:52:23 AM
I have some old coins in multibit 0.5.10.  While I have no intention of selling the coins anytime soon, I would like to have them in a wallet where if I decide to sell them I can have them on an exchange as soon as I fire up the wallet and hit send.  It seems that putting the keys into electrum via this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaijbTcxsv8&feature=youtu.be is the way to go.

I have a couple questions about this.  My Multibit key export has two private keys listed.  If I enter them both into electrum at the same time is this okay?
Not only is it OK... it is recommended if you want to see ALL your MultiBit coins in Electrum Wink

Quote
Second and most important question.  If successfully import the coins into electrum and back up the private keys on electrum, will the coins be in the new private key backup?  I have read things about coins not being in the backups of wallets they are transferred to.  Here is an example of what I mean.  I import my keys into electrum and my coins are now in electrum.  If I export the private keys from electrum, will they still have the balance of my coins if I import them into a different wallet software?  Do I get new private keys when my coins are in electrum?
If you "import"... you don't get new private keys
If you "sweep"... you DO get new private keys (sweeping sends the coins from old addresses to new addresses)

So, if you import your keys into Electrum and then Export/Import them into a different wallet, you'll see the same coins/transaction history.
However,  if you sweep your keys into Electrum, they'll end up on different addresses/keys

NOTE: Electrum does not allow you to import private keys into a wallet backed up with a 12 word seed... you have to create an "old style" keystore... effectively just cloning the MultiBit setup. If you want to use an HD Electrum wallet, backed up with 12 word seed, you'd need to sweep your old multibit keys.

Quote
Third, if I just keep the coins in multibit on my old machine and keep it offline, would that be a suitable method of storage for years to come?  Meaning, if I have the compressed keys from multibit exported and in 5 years decide to sell, will I still just be able to import them into another wallet and sell them?
Have a read through some of the threads here with people struggling with MultiBit after X years... they've discovered that "exported" key files are corrupted and cannot decrypt them etc... if your MultiBit is working now, and you can export your keys... I would HIGHLY recommend you do it now and either store your private keys in a different (more reliable) wallet like Electrum... or you write them down and keep them stored offline on paper... or put them in an encrypted text file (NOT encrypted by MultiBit!!?!)

Quote
Also, one last thing, electrum does let you export private keys, correct?
Yes
7192  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Legacy or Segwit on Ledger Nano S on: December 08, 2017, 04:45:42 AM
Yes, quite a few exchanges (and wallet provider) aren't supporting addresses starting with a 3 yet. Will probably still take some time until its 'fully' adopted or at least used.
Huh?? I haven't seen one wallet or exchange that doesn't support "3" addresses... a "3"-type SegWit address is, for all intents and purposes, just a "P2SH" address... P2SH addresses have been around since the very early days of Bitcoin. ANY Bitcoin wallet should be able to send to a "3" address. For instance, "3" addresses are also used by "legacy" MultiSig wallets.

If the exchange does NOT support sending to a "3" address, then the exchange is BROKEN and should NOT be used.

What a lot of exchanges and wallets are NOT supporting is SegWit iteself... they are not using SegWit addresses... and cannot send to SegWit "native" addreses (aka bech32 aka "bc1")... The only wallet I know that supports "bc1" addresses is Electrum.

Just be aware, that if you chose to put your coins on a SegWit address... any future Bitcoin Fork that doesn't support SegWit will likely make it difficult to claim your coins... also, there is currently no standard for "signing" messages from SegWit addresses which can make participating in ICOs and AirDrops difficult (if you're into that sort of thing)

7194  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Missing funds from my JAXX wallet on: December 08, 2017, 03:22:59 AM
This seems to be a fairly common problem with the Jaxx wallet... for whatever reason it sounds like their server keeps doing weird things and users have to "reset the Jaxx cache" all the time to see their transactions and coins Undecided

Although, I'm wondering if this is a case of someone sent your coins, and the wallet was showing you the "unconfirmed" transaction... but then the transaction was either dropped or double spent and so Jaxx removed it from your wallet as it no longer existed.

Do you have any records of the transaction (like the transactionID) which you can lookup the transaction on a block explorer like blockchain.info etc? or the address that the coins were supposedly sent to?
7195  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Use two nano s ledger wallets, separate wallet accounts? on: December 08, 2017, 03:17:45 AM
Yes, thank you, sorry, I wasn't being clear, yes, I mean different set of seed words. So if I lose one set of seed words with 50% of my coins, I will still have access to the other 50% as they are accessed with another set of seeds.
Or you could make two copies of one set of seed words... and if you lose one copy, you'll have access to 100% of your coins as you'll have the other copy Wink
7196  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 3 separete Transactions from Ledger Nano S - all stuck (high fees!!) on: December 08, 2017, 03:11:46 AM
I understand that there is a backlog but how can it not confirm with those high fees? Arent the high fee transactions supposed to be confirmed first?
High Fees? You're joking right? Roll Eyes Tongue

Your fees were 50 sats/byte, 135 sats/byte and 250 sats/byte...  Fees are now 350-400+ Sats/byte... (ref: https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/ and https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx)

You first transaction had 50 sats/byte... your 2nd transaction is spending from the first unconfirmed transaction, so cannot confirm until the first one confirms... and your third transaction spends from the 2nd... so it cannot confirm until both the previous two confirm.

First trans = 958 (bytes) with 0.000479 BTC fee
2nd trans = 813 (bytes) with 0.00109485 BTC fee
3rd trans = 224 (bytes) with 0.0005575 BTC fee

=> 1995 bytes total with 213,135 sats total fees => average fee of 106.8 sats/byte across your three transactions.

End result? You're going to be waiting a while for these transactions to confirm Undecided

My suggestion: try and get your first transaction accepted on the ViaBTC accelerator... then once it confirms... do the same with the 2nd... then repeat with the 3rd... or wait... not much else you can do at this point Sad
7197  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Provably fair blackjack on: December 08, 2017, 02:51:02 AM
There are plenty of examples of "Provably Fair" blackjack... crypto-games.net has BJ on their site... the basic process works like this:

The "Rules" they implement are:
Rules:
- 4 decks
- Shuffle after each hand
- Dealer hits on Soft 17
- Double on any two cards
- Hit split aces
- Surrender
- Blackjack pays 6:5
- Blackjack is paid on split hands

To "create" four decks of cards... they simply assign a "value" to each card from the numbers 0-207 (Four decks = 4*52 card = 208 cards)...

As they explain in their "Provably Fair" section for BlackJack:
Last server seed SHA256: Last seed generated on our side (encrypted SHA256)
Last server seed: Last server seed generated by our side
Last client seed:Last client seed generated on your side
Next server seed SHA256: Next server seed (encrypted SHA256)
Next client seed: Your next client seed
SHA512 hash: Server seed and client seed combined and encrypted in SHA512

To check if your last bet was truly fair, go to an online SHA512 generator, copy Server and Client seed and for a result you'll receive SHA512 hash.

Then, convert characters from Hexadecimal to Decimal in sets by two. If decimal result finish with digit between 0-207, then this digit represents one card. Each card has its own number. List of cards and their assigned numbers can be found here. If the number is picked twice, or if it's higher than 207, then the step is skipped.

Basically, they generate a SHA512 from the Server and Client seeds (The "encrypted" SHA256 hash of the server seed and your client seed can be viewed PRIOR to the hand being dealt) and start converting the bytes from that SHA512 to numbers between 0-255... these are matched to the 0-207 values assigned to the cards and as stated, if the number is picked twice (ie. card already used) or higher than 207 (card doesn't exist), it is ignored and next number from 0-255 is used...

Each card is then displayed in turn as you play the hand... AFTER the hand, you will be shown the unencrypted server seed... which you can then SHA256 and prove that it matches the SHA256 hash that you were shown BEFORE the hand to prove that the site hasn't changed anything... = Provably Fair = they cannot change the results.

A lot of people fail to grasp how all this works and regularly accuse the various betting sites of "cheating" when they hit a bad losing streak Roll Eyes

Worked Example:

The "secret" server seed for the next hand is: ServerSeed1 (you CANNOT see this prior to the hand starting)
The SHA256 code they would display would be: b41c9d6dc789242d3a4515c150b3141aaae41547f61ca2767881cb79fc46e981 (you CAN see this prior to the hand starting)

You client seed is set to be: ClientSeed1

As per CG.net's process, the server takes  "server seed + client seed" = "ServerSeed1ClientSeed1" giving a SHA512 of:
3205644f639e62da116a6fbb2a93ea0c689e546b4217fc6ef90423ba2af7c30b4b23ec544b53166 ac11618621780b1bdc0de8dbe1caf9a806d4184a33293eff2

You split it up into hex groups of 2 chars so that you end up with "card values" of: 32, 05, 64, 4f, 63, 9e, 62, da, 11, 6a etc etc...
Which converted from hex to decimal = 50, 5, 100, 79, 99, 158, 98, 218...

Converting from the published list of cards = QC, 6S, 10C, 2D, 9C, 3S, 8C, "Out of Range ignored"... etc

Which would most likely result in the following BJ result:

Player: QC
Dealer: 6S
Player: QC+10C (stands on 20)
Dealer: 6S+2D+9C (stands on 17)

Player wins! Smiley

After the round is finished, the server will publish the previous rounds "server seed"... which was ServerSeed1... you can then do all the checking... first check that the SHA256 of ServerSeed1 = b41c9d6dc789242d3a4515c150b3141aaae41547f61ca2767881cb79fc46e981 -CHECK OK!

Then check that ServerSeed1ClientSeed1 = SHA512 used... 3205644f639e62da116a6fbb2a93ea0c689e546b4217fc6ef90423ba2af7c30b4b23ec544b53166 ac11618621780b1bdc0de8dbe1caf9a806d4184a33293eff2 - CHECK OK!

Then you check that all the cards generated match as per their published algorithm... - CHECK OK! Everything checks out Smiley

7198  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: time to re-sync a powered-off fullnode on: December 08, 2017, 02:17:52 AM
Do you mean by "your client" e.g. my lightweight wallet?
No... he means your Bitcoin Core "Full node" client...

What he is saying... is that the syncing "speed" (in terms of blocks/second) of a node that was powered-off, will be similar as it was when it was first synced up after installation... it still needs to download and verify every block which requires processor power and harddrive speed for optimal performance.
7199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: unconfirmed for over 24 hours on: December 08, 2017, 02:11:27 AM
yes, i saw that post, however, I am not that technical, can someone tell me if this transaction looks clean, and if it will eventually confirm?
It is clean insofar as it doesn't generate any dust UTXOs, and it isn't spending from any unconfirmed parent transactions.

The only "problem" seems to be the low fees... current recommended fees are in the 350-400 sats/byte level, this transaction only pays 100 sats/byte. Undecided

It *should* confirm at some point, but given the current network congestion of 170,000+ unconfirmed transactions, it could take a while for fees to drop back to a "normal" level and for this transaction to be included by a miner. As suggested, try the ViaBTC accelerator... otherwise, your only option is to simply wait.
7200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction 12 hours without confirmation on: December 08, 2017, 02:07:04 AM
This: https://blockchain.info/charts/mempool-count

170,000+ unconfirmed transactions... with fees in the 350-400 sats/byte range... your transaction pays half of that at 200 sats/byte (ref: https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/ and https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx)

Price blew through US$15K and US$16K and is now around US$17K... every man and his brother is attempting to buy/sell... so network is overloaded... be patient, it'll confirm at some point, but may take a day or two Undecided
