7181  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Mga Pangunahing Kaalaman tungkol sa Lightning Network on: February 04, 2021, 06:39:42 AM

Dude, no offense but if you can't even spend a few minutes of your time into searching for threads concerning earning merits, then probably forget about it. You're probably better off doing something else instead.
7183  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Binance.us: Using their OTC & How to buy USDC? Is it possible? on: February 04, 2021, 04:05:10 AM
Unfortunately Binance.us doesn't seem to have USDC. Another decent US exchange that supports USDC would probably be Kraken[1] in my opinion. I haven't used it personally because I'm not from the US, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Another one being Gemini[2].

Take note that I heavily recommend that you do your research on these platforms first, and not blindly follow my recommendations.

After my fiat is deposited into my Binance account and I’m ready to buy my stablecoin, that will incur a fee correct? Then when I want to buy a dip, I’d transfer back to binance to buy whatever crypto and that will incur another fee correct?
The fees you're going to pay:

1. Transaction fee for the network, when you withdraw the USDC from Kraken or whatever exchange to your Ethereum wallet; and when you send them back from your Ethereum wallet to Kraken or whatever exchange.

2. Exchange fees: the fee they charge you for exchanging your USD for USDC.

Does anyone know generally how long a wire transfer takes? I bank w/Chase.
I have no idea what the wire transfer fees are, and how long they take. Sorry.

squatter has not been online since 27 January (at least he wasn't when you made that screenshot) and nutildah created this thread on 1 February. squatter must have been talking about something else. Grin This entire thread gave me an idea and I will soon put it on paper.

Hah. Yea I was just messing around.

@squatter seems to have a message for you, @nutildah.

7186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interesting Data: Top bitcoin or cryptocurrency apps of certain countries on: February 03, 2021, 02:48:09 PM
Or perhaps majority of these downloads are coming from crypto newbies. As such, many of them might have found it the easiest or most convenient way to purchase their first Bitcoin or crypto from either Binance or Coinbase app. As we all know, we are at the age of smart phones. Things are done through mobile apps.
Pretty much another safe assumption. The concept of self-custody is just too abnormal due to people being so used to having their money(or pretty much almost anything) being handled by a custodial service.

I really do hope, however, that these are simply baby steps. And I also hope that this newbie phase is quick. New entrants to crypto will eventually mature. Sooner or later, they will learn that their funds are not safe in exchange wallets. They will eventually turn into cold storage.
Some will learn, and some will just completely quit unfortunately.

7188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interesting Data: Top bitcoin or cryptocurrency apps of certain countries on: February 03, 2021, 10:39:49 AM
I hope it does not signify something like Coinbase and Binance wallets are the top two wallets where people keep their funds. Because if that is so, it means we are sorely lacking basic Bitcoin education at least in terms of security. Or perhaps it means we are indeed at a very early phase.

Especially taking into consideration that we're pretty much in a bull market, it's a pretty safe assumption that this is the case. Same with the 2017 bull run and the preceding bull runs, A LOT of people are going to get burned with their exchange accounts getting hacked, some of them getting scammed/hacked, some of them "investing" in shitcoins, and the like. It's an unfortunate pattern that I don't see going anywhere anytime soon.
7189  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Does Binance trip about using a VPN? on: February 03, 2021, 10:31:19 AM
You are right, but most exchanges used are centralized, they have terms of service. VPN usage may not be allowed, like on HitBtc, VPN is not allowed, I am not certain about this 100%, but if I am using their app to trade, loading it on VPN will not work. But for privacy, better using VPN but this can only be effective in very few exchanges but on noncustodial wallets.

It's pretty simple. If a certain exchange I'm using doesn't like the fact that I personally use proxies/VPNs, then I simply ditch that exchange for another, and I stop recommending that certain exchange to other people.

With training and all that kasi hindi rin talaga sya marunong magtrade nung umpisa. And no, ung sa case niya, hindi porsyente based; typical empleyado-style sahod na may set lang na amount na binabayad per month. Not sure kung ganito ung karamihan, pero skl.
7191  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Does Binance trip about using a VPN? on: February 03, 2021, 07:50:09 AM
What's your reason for using a VPN with it MK4?

Pretty much the same with your reasoning from your previous reply— for both privacy and security. I just don't like my local ISP to be unnecessarily snooping on my online activity.
7192  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Does Binance trip about using a VPN? on: February 02, 2021, 03:48:18 PM
I’ve been using Binance for approximately 4 years now, and I’ve always used a VPN; with me hopping country IPs too. Had no problem besides the annoying(but necessary) email verification due to the unrecognized IP.
7193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why was Musk so late to the party? / or Publically support BTC on: February 02, 2021, 03:42:39 PM
Probably just because he was previously skeptical, and something just clicked. It’s most probably just mere coincidence, but his support of BTC came out after the Robinhood-GME fiasco. I wouldn’t be surprised if that ended up being the final straw for Elon to recognize the importance of a free market.
7194  Other / Archival / Re: why Bitcointalk can't introduce their own Coin? on: February 02, 2021, 10:43:19 AM
Why not? Because not literally everything is going to need a separate token. Heard of project concepts like “cryptocurrency for dentists” or something? Yea, totally totally pointless and unnecessary.
7195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: ACCIDENTALLY SENT MY BINANCE USDT TO ABRA'S BTC on: February 01, 2021, 10:09:11 AM
As far as I know there's no wallet where you can simply just import your Abra wallet's private keys and you would be able to access your funds. If my memory serves me right Abra's CEO said in an interview in the past that if it's the case that they needed to suddenly shut down, they would release a custom made wallet where people could import their Abra wallet's private keys.

Unfortunately you're going to really need Abra's customer support here. And knowing that the big exchanges are having problems with the inflows of new registrations, probably expect Abra to have the same problem so their support is probably packed.

P.S. Make this be a lesson to not be so careless with moving funds.

Instagram has a lot of tutorials that will help you

I totally sympathize with you, but good lord please don't get your tutorials from places like Instagram. Heck, even content on Reddit is probably far better.

7197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India makes ownership of Bitcoin criminal offense - How to respond? on: February 01, 2021, 07:26:39 AM
10 years? That seems to be overly extreme for merely owning an asset lol.

Anyway, if you're from India, you pretty much have 2 choices.

  • Simply sell it and wait for the illegalization to be lifted.
  • Sell your holdings that has ties to you(exchanges, etc), and though I'm not telling anyone to commit crime, people could still simply accept bitcoin through anonymous services and such and simply hold them through their non-custodial wallet. Of course, people should be really cautious as a simple mistake could get them caught.
  • Optional: move out of India lol.
7198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think need bitcoin blockchain improvement? on: February 01, 2021, 07:11:08 AM
Since Bitcoin transaction fees are priced in sats, then obviously as bitcoin's price rises the fee also becomes more "expensive".

Now, is it a problem? Sure. But it's really mostly not mostly Bitcoin's fault.

1. Blockchain.com, Binance, and a few other exchanges/wallets still doesn't have SegWit support.

2. A lot of people in general still doesn't use SegWit. I'm still seeing a good number of legacy Bitcoin addresses(outside address staking) being used here on Bitcointalk.

3. Lightning network is pretty decent now, but unfortunately most exchanges still doesn't support them though some exchanges vowed to support Lightning this year.

4. A lot of times, people simply just unnecessarily overpay transaction fees because of the really inaccurate fee recommendation of the wallet they're using.
7199  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Bubbles add real Value to economic growth? on: February 01, 2021, 07:02:14 AM
For instance, he recently tweeted that he will be speaking on Clubhouse today regarding DODGECOIN.

All he said was that he's going to be on Clubhouse, he didn't say anything specific about it going to be about DOGE.

As for economic value, while I'm definitely not an expert, not really I guess? Bubbles just gives out publicity to that certain asset that's going through a "bubble" stage; and since they mostly correct in price in the end anyway, I think it just quickens the price discovery stage of that certain asset.
7200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone who holds 100 doge will become a millionaire in the future but why? on: February 01, 2021, 04:27:10 AM
very ridiculous, 1 Doge can reach $ 0.1 alone makes everyone happy, oh not $ 1,
but $ 0.08 alone has made Doge popular and trending on various social media such as Facebook, Twitter and even YouTube,
everyone is talking about Doge, yes this dog, gives the fact that the impossible, just might happen in this cryptocurrency world.

Never said it couldn't reach $0.1, but $1? Not impossible, but probably not.

Also, popularity =/= usefulness and viability. People are talking about DOGE because it's a famous meme that already existed since the rise of freakin 9GAG. If you've noticed, almost no one is actually taking it seriously besides the crazy people that thinks that DOGE can actually become a "main currency".
