721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gospel Preachers: Is Bitcoin the Last Currency in the World? on: June 30, 2023, 01:43:38 AM
I have been planning to create this thread for more than three months but today I decided to drop the thread.
When I was a little child, Missionaries like Jehovah Witness Brethren and other Pentecostal Church preachers who was preaching the Holy Bible says, time will come in the whole world that everyone will use ONE CURRENCY and anyone who refused to use that currency can not buy things in any store. And the way BITCOIN is, it is accepting by the whole world. And Bitcoin is growing step by step.

I don't know in the last step of Bitcoin everyone will only use it and no any other currency will exist again. So I like to hear from some Biblical Scholars in the forum to tell me more on this topic. This thing that I said is inside the Holy Bible but I can't recall the scripture but it is in the book of "Revelation".

One world government and one currency system. We are starting to see signs of the "mark" particularly in Sweden right now, with the chip in the palm to be used as your pass and payment for just about everything.  The "mark of the beast" is said to be shown on your right palm or your forehead, and it is said in the bible that you cannot purchase goods or services without it, and if you don't take it you will be persecuted, but we are not quite there yet. Bitcoin could definitely be used as a means to implement this 666 mark. Motorola believe it or not actually was among one of the first to develop this palm chip technology. I believe that we are surely very close to end times with everything that is happening in the world, but surely people were also saying these same things during WW2 any many other crazy times in history...
722  Other / Meta / "The user whose profile you're trying to view does not exist" on: June 29, 2023, 03:07:27 PM
Does anyone else's heart sink a bit when you see this message thinking somehow your profile got deleted in the latest update or something? Lol. When you leave your browser up on your desk or even just a tab open and it exits out from the forum automatically or just the browser stopped working because of inactivity and then you try to go back on and see that message and have to log back in. I know it can't just be me lmao
723  Other / Meta / Re: Why do you browse the forum without notification? on: June 29, 2023, 03:56:31 AM
How do people that doesn't use quotes or mentions notification bots browse this forum? I mean, it is wrong and does not promote healthy discussion. I am a user who is always not excited by whatever is in the opening topic (OP). I rather go through the flowing conversation to see who holds opposite opinion with me, then I will go in for some kind of debate in order to come out of the conversation more informed. Although this has its backlash, some merits sources will not hand out merits to you if you challenge their opinions, that is why some users prefer to lick the ass of others maybe to be in their good book for merits.Pardon me for a slight off topic

It's sometimes hurting when you quote or mention someone with the mind to further engage in conversation with the person, but the fellow might never return again to the thread. Could it be these set of users that Royse777 and Hhampuz complain that they use the forum in a wrong way or they post for weekly pay.

If you use notification bots, it will not be difficult to complete and exceed your weekly post quota. There will also not be a slight room for AI usage. If you engage in meaningful conversation in upto three threads, it is possible you can make even more than 10 posts a day and also will be learning new things.
People who doesn't use any of these notification bots should try and activate one to promote quality and meaningful discussion in the forum.

Recommendations

I know of others but I'm not sure they are still maintained till date. If you have recommendations for this service, you can drop and I will gladly add to Op.

I like your style to stir the pot! It does help the discussion move along and progress. Those notification bots are very interesting and I can see them being extremely helpful down the line. I could definitely use it!!! I find it very hard to keep track of everything having to go back and forth on this thread and that thread, and think a more streamlined approach would definitely help. I will check those bots out Cheesy

726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why has Bitcoin suddenly jumped above $30,000? - 06/21/23 on: June 29, 2023, 03:32:10 AM
The recent surge in Bitcoin's value can be attributed to the introduction of a new US exchange called EDX, which has generated significant market interest. Additionally, recent legal developments have helped resolve the allegations against Binance, further stabilizing the cryptocurrency market. These positive events have had a notable impact on Bitcoin's price, prompting increased buying activity among investors. Consequently, the market charts have shown a significant upward trend, indicating a bullish market sentiment.

Now we can add BlackRock's ETF filing to the list, along with Riot miner historic purchase of new GPUs, also Saylor acquired more BTC for Micro Strategy  Cool Cool Cool
727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People are giving too much importance to exchanges on: June 29, 2023, 03:12:28 AM
6 months ago, my savings went down because of the FTX debacle. I've never used FTX, I've never been a customer of this company, but my savings are in BTC, and because of that failure, BTC's value went down, and so went my savings.

Today, bis repetita. I've never used Binance. I've never been a customer of this company, but because the SEC sues Binance, BTC is down, and so are my savings, so I have a message to all bitcoiners out there.

Exchanges and BTC are 2 different things. One exchange going down doesn't mean BTC must follow.
Binance will disappear? I don't give a damn.

A lot of what causes the change in the price is market speculation, and so naturally a decrease in the price due to SEC throwing down sanctions on Binance would definitely affect consumer sentiment on their investments that are on Binance, for example, and if I still had money on there I would have been rushing to get it out and off of the exchange. In this scenario you can see how a lot of people probably got all their coins off and sold right away. Just an example, I mean I definitely see where you're coming from but your personal feelings on current events wont change this haha
728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining Firm Riot Secures 33,000 New Rigs for $162 Million on: June 29, 2023, 02:58:02 AM
This is super bullish for BTC. It is a bit of a bummer for Riot though not being able to deploy all of these until 2024!!! Man, kind of makes you wonder where we are at with that global chip shortage, maybe that is one of the culprits behind this slowness of these machines being delivered.  I mean just think of how much money they are losing out on with the last bit of the good mining reward in effect and only catching the last little tail end of that. Pity! Oh well, they're loaded anyways. Its drops in the bucket for them!!
729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop stressing kids with bitcoin on: June 29, 2023, 02:54:23 AM
I like this post, I have stressed similar points on what the right time frame is for when they should start to actually learn how to use Bitcoin in the practice (I said around 12-14), but also I did note that I think it is important for them to at least know what it is. I give my nephews some novelty coins in a package recently and they loved it, one of them called me and asked a little further and the main thing we talked about was just the price of one bitcoin, and he was blown away haha. Loved it. So fun amping them up on it, don't bore them with random facts and stats, hype them about how awesome it is, thats what I do with kids on bitcoin and it works very well.
730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A bitcoin retirement plan with a disturbing length of years. on: June 26, 2023, 03:08:04 PM
I have this colleague of mine at workplace who is a bitcoin enthusiast just like me. Often times at work when we're less occupied with our job we kind of spend such moment's  discussing about bitcoin generally. Two days ago he was telling me about his plans to start buying BTC with 20% of his salary every month for the rest of the years he has to retirement that's when he will then take it all. And based on the company total years of service he has 16 years left to his retirement.

With the way he was talking to me about it he appears to know exactly what he's about to do and how its going to end for him. But for me his idea has left some apprehension and questioning in my head due to the length of years (good 16 years) he is going to keep up with. From my angle the years are too much as no one can certainly say for sure about what the future of cryptocurrency and bitcoin holds despite how positive it could be looking today.

In my opinion I wanted to talk to him with a logical conclusion why he should reduce the length of years, not to do it at a stretch of straight 16years he has in mind without applying risk management technique, maybe by splitting those 16years into four interjecting years. As in he should in every 4 years be taking 50% of whatever total amount plus profit  till it gets to the 16years he planned. At least in worst case scenario this method could save him something reliable to fall back onto.

How do you guys think about this idea of mine for my colleague? Can it really be helpful to him in the long run or it may just obstruct his original plan killing the whole idea?  Please all opinions are entertained but whatever your opinion might be, also try to put the length of years involved into consideration.(16 years)

Honestly, when it comes to giving financial advice do so with a 50 lb dumbbell in your hands and act as if you're giving that dumbbell to whoever is getting your advice. But also, I always say don't ever hold back what you need to say, if you absolutely must. I honestly think this guy has a great plan that could pay off very well for him down the line.....
731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How useful is Bitcoin to the youth? on: June 26, 2023, 02:50:46 PM

Youth are interested in Bitcoin because it's easy to work with if you understand the ntrigrity also it's a way to make money, over time BTC has risen, and with this, the youth may be interested in a way to do business digitally.
We need to talk more about the benefit of Biticion in other to attract more youth because the majority do not know how this coin works.

I think its definitely important for the youth to have a general understanding of what BTC is, but I do not think it is quite appropriate for them to be using BTC under the age of 13 or 14 I would say. BTC can lead to scams, which are so ever prevalent in this day and age and kids just aren't smart enough to look out for themselves on all of that yet, in my opinion. I think once a kid hits the age of even 12 is enough, if they have their wits about them, to start working towards some kind of "digital business" with the guidance of a guardian every step of the way...
732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you, or would you ever use a Bitcoin ATM? on: June 26, 2023, 02:47:33 PM
I've seen them pop up all around me, in small convenience stores and even restaurants. I was wondering if it's a good option to buy a gift for someone else, or are the fees too high and it's not worth it? Also I'm not sure how it works but figuring they give you a private key, and how safe is that?

Honestly Bitcoin ATMs are great for people who like the convenience of it, but I wouldn't recommend for purchasing a gift for someone, just buy BTC elsewhere and have them set up their own wallet before you give it to them, and explain it to them and how to use it especially if they are new to Bitcoin. Not quite related to the question but just for anyone else here who might think Bitcoin ATMs help with anonymity.... you can't really argue the case for anonymity because transactions over 10k get reported but even if they aren't over 10k they still have KYC in place which requires them to know who you are, they will have a picture of your ID in most cases and a phone number. The high fees really aren't attractive at all, I wouldn't ever personally use a Bitcoin ATM to buy/sell crypto because the high fees are awful.
733  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Stacks Bowers June Showcase Auction for Physicals is Tomorrow! Polymerbit Debut! on: June 26, 2023, 02:33:35 PM
Just touching on the recent auction(s), the .01 newer Lealanas and Satoris really bog down these auctions. I felt bored watching these sell as there have been so many submitted in the last few. Name recognition, and I get it, cash in if I held a large amount of them. The initial auctioneer also did a better job of describing and promoting excitement for each piece vs. the latter. Still a lot of fun to watch the amazing pieces sold.

I would have to agree with you, the auction itself was a little boring to watch, I wish they would highlight the pieces better instead of just focusing on the bidding, honestly it would give the auction itself more time because they are talking about interesting facts about the coins and also stating the most recent high bidding, I think if they really wanted to bolster the auction prices they would do that to help. More time = more money IMO

Did China do something that made the Chinese people start buying? Or what?

Cool

Its because Bitcoin doesn't follow the rules or care about anything thats happening other than being the massive stud that Bitcoin is  Cool Honestly there are probably so many reasons why the price has gone up/gone down here or there anytime anywhere but who cares, as long as bitcoin is still working and up and running 24/7 with the fixed 21 million coins we are golden Cheesy Can you imagine where we will be in 10 years time? Holy smokes!!!
736  Economy / Collectibles / Re: AVAST! Bitcoin Penny® Spanish Treasures Collection now be here! on: June 22, 2023, 03:32:15 AM
Thanks for the link, tread93. I'll check it out. Might learn a new trick. Smiley

FUN FACT #1: Most of these treasures are minted with Satoshi Pirate wearing his eye patch on the right side (his left). The chances of finding a special left-side eye patch (his right) on your coin is exactly 1:10!

Regards,
Chris@TBPCo.

You're welcome! Let me know what you think of it, I find it most intriguing.

I love the spin you put on these with the reverse eye patch coins!!! So basically there are 10 per denomination and are those odds also the same with the 25 1oz gold coins? No wonder you made so many dies on these!!! I was trying to figure that out.... now it makes a lot more sense to me.
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Fun Fact] Is Gold scarce ? Bitcoin is ! on: June 22, 2023, 03:00:48 AM
Just imagine you wake up one day to find out that there was huge asteroid that just dropped on earth.
The news is all over and then the world finds out this

Although it's just a made up thing yet there can be such a possibility. We never know.
But what we do know is bitcoin's total supply is just 21 million and that makes it scarce.
It's more precious than gold.

Source: https://www.instagram.com/p/CtvdmZoPmxV/?igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng%3D%3D

Wow that really puts it into perspective for you, and this is extremely accurate. All the gold and silver and precious metals that are out in space is an unfathomable amount of money!!! Just floating in space!!!! The odds of this asteroid hitting earth are slim to none but still, it's out there lol. Bitcoin is super scarce 😱
738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A no-Bitcoin friend turned a old Bitcoiner on: June 22, 2023, 02:57:38 AM
Why would someone try to hide their Bitcoin involvement from their friends that tried to teach them all this while?

I feel somehow about my friend because I just found out that he has been into Bitcoin for a long time, probably before me, what's surprising to me is whenever I tried to enlighten him about Bitcoin he always Shawn me down and say he has no interest..

Today I get to know from a relative of his, who thought that we are into Bitcoin investment together, a coincidence that brings up some suspicious thought, now I am left with thoughts of why he was hiding this all along from me?

At first I though maybe he was scared bringing me along, but it doesn't make any sense because I thought I knew better than him and I needed to teach him.

What do you think is probably ongoing here?

I think some people just keep a privacy policy for themselves here, that's obviously what your friend was intentionally doing here because he didn't want to draw any attention to his bitcoin holdings so other people can be shouting it out for the world to hear. Just a thought though
739  Economy / Collectibles / Re: AVAST! Bitcoin Penny® Spanish Treasures Collection now be here! on: June 21, 2023, 02:19:33 AM
Spanish currency from the 16 to late 1800s are some of my absolute favorite coins, so you're naturally combining two of my favorite things here with cobs and crypto  Cool Grin Here is a fun video you would love that I noticed also makes a nod to the similarities of Bitcoin and Spanish Cobs (at the very end) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5INCV7AQTI

Great job Chris, this is fine craftsmanship! Now I know what you were talking about in your post the other day. I'm not sure if I have enough sats allocated to even get a complete set of everything, and wow only 11 of the 1oz extremely rare gold pieces left!!! I'll see what I can do, i'm going to send you a PM.

These are great! I love the art work and their overall mission forming a completely legal gold currency, did you know that there is a funny story behind the gold backs domain name? I turns out that when they were creating them and landed on that name someone they were affiliated with owned the domain name by chance and had planned to use it for a gold backed shit coin project that didn't work out. Here is the excerpt here from their story on their website:

"It looked like the name, “Goldback,” was taken though!  We had our newest employee, Jeff McClellan do a google search, and he pulled up a crypto project based around a mine in California.  Upon further investigation, he found that a couple of the board members were Michael Taggart and Stan Larimer.  In a small-world moment, those two men were also board members on our gold-crypto, the Quint.  I called Michael Taggart and asked him what the story behind Goldback was.  He was very surprised that I knew anything about it since he had never brought it up.  He described it as a dead crypto project, and that was enough for me.  We went ahead and got the website and the trademark.  We paid $8,000 for Goldback.com from a third party who had speculatively purchased it years before.  The trademark was approved about a year later."https://www.goldback.com/our-story
