721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Largest crypto exchange CEO arrested! Anyone getting deja vu? on: November 22, 2023, 05:57:10 AM
Back in 2019-2020 the largest exchange at the time was Bitmex, similar to how Binance now has the largest volumes. Binance started to gain popularity around that time but still didn’t have the same volume as Bitmex.

When he stepped down and was charged, we assumed crypto would crash but the complete opposite happened. Some speculated they had to bring Bitmex down to pave the way for the Coin IPO and the Bitcoin futures etf listed on the stock market.
722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Largest crypto exchange CEO arrested! Anyone getting deja vu? on: November 21, 2023, 11:03:35 PM
So as you all know they charged CZ and he stepped down. Most likely he will get arrested as he goes on US soil.

What I find strange about all this, is that it’s all familiar. Anyone know what I am taking about?

Remember Bitmex and it’s CEO Arthur Hayes who was arrested. What happened right after? One of the biggest bull runs in Bitcoins history.

History doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes.
723  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will SEC delay on Spot ETF approval do to Bitcoin's price?@ on: November 21, 2023, 05:09:47 AM
Well I am fairly sure it won’t be approved anytime in 2023. Maybe in January 2024. However it would be crazy if the SEC approved the etf tomorrow while yesterday they sued Binance and Kraken. It’s very difficult to read that Gary Gensler.

At first we assumed he was finally pro Bitcoin with his Satoshi tweet but a week later he is calling crypto a scam and suing exchanges left and right. Honestly it would be best if he was replaced by someone else.
724  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Germany's fourth largest bank "Commerzbank" Granted Bitcoin Custody Licence. on: November 21, 2023, 05:05:02 AM
I think this might be good for some. For example people who don’t want to use hardware walllets because they are too technical.

If you keep your Bitcoin yourself, there is always the risk of getting it stolen. If you hold it at the bank then most likely it’s insured and they will do a better job securing it than most individuals. Hence why this is a great option to have for many people using their bank to store crypto.
725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Trying to understand stratum diff, network diff, submitted diff on: November 21, 2023, 03:12:31 AM
Basically since you are mining with a pool, you don't need to submit the actual difficulty of finding a block on the network. For example the Bitcoin difficulty is crazy high and impossible to find for a single miner. So the pool needs to send you work that is a much much smaller difficulty. And the only reason they do this is to prove that you are actually hashing and trying to find the block.

The shares you send is called work difficulty and the actual difficulty of the network is called the network difficulty. And submitted diff is the difficulty of the share you found. Usually its larger than work difficulty.

Hope this helps.
726  Economy / Economics / Re: Is stagflatiotn upcoming? on: November 21, 2023, 03:08:07 AM
Stagflation is worse in certain countries than others. For example in Canada we have it much worse that the USA.

We got bad GDP growth, we got bad inflation, food and housing is unaffordable, and our unemployment has been rising slowly since last May, basically the rate has increased almost every month. And I am sure there are other countries that have it just as bad.

USA however is not one of them. USA has good GDP currently and their unemployment rate is very low. However all of that can quickly change if something bad happens in the economy.
727  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will SEC delay on Spot ETF approval do to Bitcoin's price?@ on: November 21, 2023, 03:00:35 AM
Today again there was more amendments to the ARK Bitcoin ETF. And price did nothing when the news came out.

Then there was also the Binance getting sued for $4B, and it dumped at first but then rallied. Even BNB recovered. Later there was the Kraken being sued news and again, the market was unphased. So I am guessing we are in a pretty strong bull market since these SEC lawsuits don't cause bitcoin to go down. This is what you want to see in a bull market.

Similar to how in a bear market, whenever we get bullish news, we dump anyways. This is the same but opposite.
728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am the creator of Bitcoin on: November 21, 2023, 02:57:15 AM
Many times we have seen many people called Satoshi oh call themselves Satoshi so if you want members of this forum to believe you that you are Satoshi Nakamoto you have to provide more better proof than just coming out to see that you are him. Also Satoshi already an account on this forum from where he has posted before,

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3

I am not sure he will loose access to his account on a forum he founded.

From what I read, the account "satoshi" is actually frozen by the mods. Reason why is because the email that was used by satoshi expired due to inactivity and somebody else registered it. And this is risky since that individual can just reset satoshis password and start posting as him.

Hence even if the real satoshi decided to post again on bitcointalk he wouldn't be able too anyways since the account is locked. And I am 100% sure he will never reveal his identity like this joke OP.
729  Economy / Economics / Re: ~85% of money doesn't exist on: November 20, 2023, 05:51:13 AM
I heard about this also and I am not surprised. Isn’t this called something like M1 or M2 supply. Basically not the total supply of the currency but the currency out in circulation.

As we get more digital there is less and less demand for cash. And this is why this number will get lower and lower every year. Most people these days pay by credit card or Apple Pay and haven’t touched cash in an entire year pretty much.
730  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will SEC delay on Spot ETF approval do to Bitcoin's price?@ on: November 20, 2023, 05:47:09 AM
For the past few months, ever since Blackrock announced their bitcoin etf, these delays have done nothing to the price. They get delayed and you look at the charts and it’s not trading down.

Pretty sure everyone knows it will get delayed until the last iteration where it will be the ultimate rejection or approval. Prior to this and these delays don’t make a difference for the market.
731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Mike Belshe, CEO of crypto exchange BitGo. on: November 20, 2023, 05:44:37 AM
It's pretty much everyone's opinion right now anyway. The consensus is that the ETF will highly likely be approved by January; and James Seyffart seems to agree on that.

Is anyone in a hurry to get it approved? I'm not, although I guess the industry is nervous and wants to get one passed now, but just as it is supposed to make it easier for institutional money to come in, it will also make it come in through a centralised mechanism and can add volatility, so that an initial upward reaction can be followed by rapid downturns.

Yes it seems everybody wants one approved. However the same scenario happened back in early 2017 when everyone was 99% sure the Winklevoss twins etf would be approved.

People were analyzing all these meetings and saying since “so and so” had a meeting with “so and so” it could only mean it’s approved and in the end, rejection.

Nobody could believe it and I think Bitcoin had a huge crash before trending higher later on that month.
732  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin Bear Market over? on: November 20, 2023, 05:41:08 AM
I am pretty sure it ended a long time ago. The problem is are we in a bull market that is beginning or ending or somewhere in the middle.

Right now I don’t think any ETF will be approved until at least Jan 10 2024. Since we missed those deadlines and usually December is a holiday month and there won’t be any decisions made there. So I think Bitcoin will trade sideways until the next year pretty much.
733  Economy / Economics / Re: When Was the Last Time you Came Across a Positive Economic News? on: November 19, 2023, 05:38:35 AM
It’s because negative news generates more visitors than positive news. People want to hear the negative about bitcoin or some stock. If it’s positive news, most people won’t want to read it. I heard it’s a psychological thing.

Recently however most of bitcoin news was positive however, especially with the way the etf process is going. Same with ETH and how they are planning a spot etf for Ethereum also.

734  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's with the 10000+ sat / vb Transactions on: November 19, 2023, 05:34:06 AM
Either someone fat fingered it and entered the wrong fee or there is some ordinal activity going on and people want to make sure their transaction confirms for sure by the next block.

This was common in ETH during the 2021 days. They were airdrops and NFTs and people paid thousands to be the first to get the transactions go by the latest time. So I am sure they are doing the same thing here.
735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's Raking in This Fee on: November 19, 2023, 05:30:35 AM
Depending on the exchange, the fees should change with the actual miner fees. Usually it’s a small fee plus the actual miner fee. There are times however when fees are very low but your withdraw fee is still quite large, nothing you can do really.

If you need to deposit and withdraw lots of transactions you need to use either lightning network or some type of L2 if you are on the Ethereum network. It’s always expensive getting transactions going on ETH and BTC.
736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Poloniex was hacked (Security Breach Discussion) on: November 18, 2023, 05:07:25 AM
Many don’t remember this but they were actually hacked before. I think it was in 2013 and it was before I even used the exchange. A bunch of coins were stolen and they had to do a haircut for everyone’s balance. It was so long ago, most people don’t remember or are new to crypto.

The fact that they got hacked this day and age is crazy. Especially with what happened last year with Ftx. Hopefully all users will be reimbursed.
737  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: So since SOL is $60 - Means FTX is solvent again? on: November 18, 2023, 05:02:56 AM
I haven’t verified this because I couldn’t find the source but apparently people are buying Ftx claims for 65-70 cents pretty much. This is pretty recent. Which leads me to believe it due to the SOL price which could get Ftx out of bankruptcy.

The coin is still doing pretty good considering all that massive sell pressure it got from the Ftx bankruptcy trustee. At this rate it might head to the $75 area next month. None of this really makes sense. Seems like it was a great buy at $10.
738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chances of Bitcoin ETF approval gone up on: November 18, 2023, 04:55:09 AM
I don’t know what games the SEC is playing here. They keep making these amendments and the filers all make the adjusted changes, then a few weeks later they require more changes.

So I would be very surprised if they rejected it after all this. Seems they want to work together and get it going. However knowing how all these etfs went in the past, we were all convinced that it should be approved and they were all denied.’
739  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can the bullish pin bar candle pattern be used to predict the bull market? on: November 17, 2023, 05:36:23 AM
Honestly I never had luck with any of these candlestick patterns. I learned them maybe 10 years ago trading stocks and they were useless there also.

One of the most reliable indicators is perhaps the horizontal support and resistance lines. They are very good at spotting tops and bottoms and will do you more good than any other indicator out there including moving averages.
740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How high can the transaction fees become? on: November 17, 2023, 05:33:55 AM
The fees will stay high. I don’t think we will have a 1-2 sat byte period in a while, however the fees we are paying now aren’t sustainable. I am talking about 250sat btye fees, I think this will die down as soon as the ordinal market is taking a breather.

If you can try and make your transactions on the weekend, usually fees are lower. Last week it was easy to get 30 sat byte transactions out during the weekend. Then when Monday came the fees spiked right up again.
