721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Rx 580 8gb hashrate on: January 17, 2018, 05:28:19 AM
Hi,

I'm working on getting my first Ethereum rig up and running and I'm getting pretty low hashrates and hoping that somebody could help me out.

Currently, I have (2) RX 580 8GB MSI Gaming X cards and I'm getting 23.xxMh/s out of each. Obviously, I'd like to be getting closer to 30Mh/s.

Out of the box, they only got about 18 or 19Mh/s, but after modding the BIOS, they're up to the 23Mh/s, but I've spent a lot of time searching and trying different things to try to improve the performance and I'm just stuck.

I downloaded the Polaris editor, clicked the "One Click Timing Patch" button and re-wrote the BIOS the cards. That's what took me from 18 or 19 to 23.

What am I missing for getting them to 29 or 30+?? I am new to modding BIOS and overclocking GPU, so if you wouldn't mind some specific instructions on how to do some of these things, I'd appreciate it. I keep reading about certain settings, but nothing really goes through the steps that you have to follow to make those changes.

Thank you very much and I appreciate any help you can offer!

This is a good site on how to setup and optimize your rig.

6/7th Gen Celeron CPU's don't support 2400 MHz RAM. If you are using a Celeron G3930, you should use 2100 MHz DDR4.

723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v10.4 (Windows/Linux) on: January 17, 2018, 02:48:40 AM
If you want to use the Compute drivers, Afterburner will not work AMD Crimson 17.11.xx or 17.12.xx drivers and multiple cards. Either use the Claymore config file to apply the overclock and undervolt settings at runtime, or use OverNdrive tool to create overclocking profiles for your cards as explained on www.mining.help.

What price point do you guys think we will see it at?

Overpriced. I believe the EVGA 2200 P2 is 240V only, so not much difference from a server PSU other than ATX compatibility without a breakout and Pico board. Should be quieter, but much more $ compared to a server PSU.

Selling used Vega for $1k, is a no brainer You could buy three overpriced RX 570 4GB at $300-$320 each with the better overall performance and still have cash left over. Navi coming out in August too.

I'm having a hard time finding a shop in Europe where this motherboard is available. Have you got some links?

I was also wondering if the motherboard had to be powered by ALL 24 pin connectors or if 3 molex + 1x 24 pin is enough?

You don't need to use the 4-pin molex connectors on the motherboard when using powered risers. They are only there for the few people that may still use ribbon unpowered risers.

728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Location of actual mining pool - why does it matter? on: January 15, 2018, 07:22:46 PM
Simply the closer the network route, the lower the latency of the connection. Which means your miner receives work and submits competed work (shares) faster, reducing the number of outdated (stale) work you submit. Typically what you want is less than 100 ms.

I'm running 13 RX 580 under Windows v1709 with the latest Adrenaline v17.12.2 drivers. Running 13 cards under Windows also requires at least 35 GB virtual memory set. Some good guidelines to set up your rig.

One reason is because the BTC marketshare is clearly in a downtrend as the marketshare of alts continues to grow.

Another reason is ASIC's are loud. Would you want this running in your living space? LOL

731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BIOS signature check - pixel clock patcher needed? on: January 15, 2018, 03:15:12 PM
Try increasing the memory on the Micron card to 2200-2250 MHz. Also use HwInfo to check for memory errors and reduce the memory clock by 50 MHz until there are no more errors. For a Bios mod I use the Polaris Bios Editor v1.6.2 'one click timing patch' on the original Bios. PBE automatically detects the memory type and v1.6.2 applies the bundled performance straps to the 1750 MHz and up timings. The current v1.6.6 adjusts the 1500 MHz and up timings, but the 1750 MHz straps are more stable for most cards.

With most RX 580 cards you don't need to use the AMD pixel patcher to bypass the driver signature check with a modded Bios. With RX 470/480 and 570 cards, you need to use the patcher.

Lots of good info on optimizing your cards is on www.mining.help and BBT has a good video on how to flash up to 10 cards at the same time in Windows.

Here is the perspective from BBT that's been GPU mining longer than most on this forum.

This miner just keeps getting better. ~1100 H/s with a 1080 and a 1070 @ 300-310 W. About 10 H/s better than v5.0. Thanks for the update. Smiley

v10.3 was mainly a compatibility fix for the latest AMD Adrenaline Windows drivers that broke the temp/fan control. No performance increase was stated for 10.3/10.4.

736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: need help solo mining piril on: January 15, 2018, 02:32:09 AM
Basically you need to point your miner towards your local wallet IP and rpc port. Since PIRL is an Ethash coin, it's similar to the solo mining Expanse as shown in the video.

737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v10.4 (Windows/Linux) on: January 15, 2018, 12:29:59 AM
The devfee is only mined on the main coin.
738  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v10.4 (Windows/Linux) on: January 14, 2018, 11:35:28 PM
You could try putting -allcoins exp and -allpools 1 in the command line or config file to see if it will mine Expanse for the devfee instead.
739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS B250 Mining Expert MB - 19 Cards! on: January 14, 2018, 09:30:43 PM
On Windows v1709 I believe the limit on the Asus B250 mining expert is 8 Nvidia + 11 P106 and 13 AMD + 6 P106. On Linux you should be able to run 13 cards of either AMD/Nvidia + 6 P106.

BBT running 13 AMD on the Asus B250 mining expert on Windows v1709.

13 Nvidia 1060 + 6 P106 running under Linux on the Asus B250 mining expert.
