721  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I'd like to get some bitcoins. Is now a good time to do so? on: January 22, 2017, 01:05:25 AM
Just a reminder: Chinese New Year 2017 is on next Saturday, January 28th - this is one of the biggest and important dates of Chinese calendar.
I expect that some chinese traders will sell portion of their BTC to fuel their fiat stash, we might see slight price drop. It is nothing 100% certain tho.
722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Idea for Protect Bitcoin Paper Wallets from damages. on: January 21, 2017, 02:18:01 AM
You basically want to defeat the purpose of having paper wallet - which is offline, physical document that contains copies of the public and private keys.
And you suggest that we convert it back to digital form? Then we could keep wallet.dat/seed passphrase inside passworded compressed file to begin with.
We don't need paper wallet for that. Are you really thought this through? Just keep your paper wallet separated in secure location, preferably make more copies.
723  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you manage ur emotions? on: January 21, 2017, 02:02:39 AM
From what I can tell, panic you can feel while trading is caused by lack of faith created by disturbing news. But you need to remember fear is always bigger that it seems.
Don't let your imagination run wild - it will only cause you to think of the worst possible outcomes, while in reality we went through many rough times with BTC to know that it will always recover.

I recommend reading this short article - The Psychology of Trading Panic: http://traderfeed.blogspot.com/2016/11/the-psychology-of-trading-panic.html
724  Other / Politics & Society / Re: WILL DONALD TRUMP PERFORMED BETTER THAN OBAMA on: January 21, 2017, 01:38:31 AM
Only time will tell how good Trump will be. There is no need to speculate about this now. We need to avoid jumping to conclusions too fast.
General public made this mistake with Obama - he received Peace Nobel Prize for nothing, soon after he became a POTUS. It was a huge misplay.
I don't want to see similar situation happened with Trump, don't bash or glorify him yet, wait for his actions to judge him.
725  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does a President Trump mean for Bitcoin? on: January 21, 2017, 01:04:16 AM
At this point it is unwise to assume that Trump is living in the dark and doesn't know what bitcoin is.
The truth is - bitcoin is rather insignificant phenomena, especially compared to other problems Trump needs to take care of first.
Don't expect him to tweet tomorrow "Hey guys, I heard Bitcoin is amazing. Buy it!'. Just be glad that he is not bashing it.
726  Economy / Gambling / Re: Best sportbetting site on: January 21, 2017, 12:56:57 AM
Completely correct, I see many gambling discussion threads say directbet is the best one, it has disgusting UI and shills, worst odds in the world. And stealing money from customers, how can this site be popular? I don't think it is really so popular, unbelievable. And alexa tells us everything.
Trust the numbers. Do your own research, if you don't like service then just don't use it. DirectBet has one interesting feature - we can start betting with no account and they have instant withdrawal system.
Other than than, design of the site is really unattractive and it is hard to navigate and see clearly what are you betting on. Combing it with low odds (usually) it is not even my 3rd sportbook choice.

For me:
1. Sportsbet
2. Nitrogen
3. Cloudbet/Fairlay.
727  Economy / Speculation / Re: The China Effect on: January 21, 2017, 12:23:17 AM
I think if China effect really exist we going to see it on Chinese New Year. I'm sure that many of bitcoin holders from that country will cash out their coins cause of the celebration and the effect if it really has place to be will be visible.
Actually there might be something to it. Chinese New Year 2017 is on Saturday, January 28th, 2017. A week from now.
We won't see traders liquidating their positions because of that, but I think some minor price drops are to be expected.
Prepare to buy cheap bitcoin, gentlemen.
728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for fashion business? on: January 21, 2017, 12:02:39 AM
I don't know any fashion company which directly accepts bitcoin. Maybe it would be actually good marketing move to start doing this?
Then you could advertise yourself as "First fashion company to ever accept Bitcoin". It certainly won't harm your reputation but rather made you more popular.
In the future - where bitcoin will hopefully be more recognized you would be labeled as "Company which accepted Bitcoin since 2017". Pretty amazing deal IMO.
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins to hold during a bitcoin rally? on: January 20, 2017, 09:40:37 PM
What altcoins are you holding? Will all they go red again?
On bitcoin pumps = hold bitcoin
When bitcoin is getting some correction = buy alts like ETH, XMR and wait till bitcoin price get settle to some point to buy back bitcoin
When there is bad news regarding bitcoin = buy alt with good daily trading volume to hedge against those dump

Bitcoin price is about to make next pump soon so better to hold bitcoin rather than any other alts.

But SOME alts do pump... that is the point of this thread I think, to find those alts that pump so you can profit and make more BTC. BTC going up in dollars is not relevant unless you trade BTC for dollars and I don't do that since to deal with fiat you need to give your details to exchanges so im stuck with alts...
Some alts are being pumped, that is correct. But can you see any regularity in this? It is pure lottery pretty much every time. There were times where traders were selling every altcoin to buy BTC.
But for example, right now: BTC dropped a slightly but ETC is being crazy pumped, ETH and LTC gained a little and every other top altcoin is dropping...
So yes,  when in doubt I would rather hold BTC.
730  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-01-20] The worst case speculation after PBOC inspection on: January 20, 2017, 01:35:49 PM
So, we had small price drop caused by aftermath of this news: http://news.8btc.com/the-worst-case-for-bitcoin-exchangs-after-inspection-by-pboc
But when you read this article, you will realize that PBOC actually fixed some 'exploits' on Chinese exchanges.

"Loaning was the common business practice on the 3 Bitcoin exchanges to support margin trade up to 5x.
A 0.1%-0.5% transaction fee was charged when traders initiated such a transaction. It’s believed that the margin trading fee was to compensate the 0 fee"

It is positive change that traders can no longer trade there with borrowed money.
731  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 85.000 copies of Mein Kampf sold in Germany in 2016 on: January 20, 2017, 01:07:58 PM
Why do we discuss Muslims migration, ideological crisis in Europe and potential danger of Islamization of Germany in this thread?

I thought this is thread about Mein Kampf's recent rise to popularity. And to be honest it is not as  big deal as many of you think.

Mein Kamp was alway available in .pdf version, anyone with internet access can download it for free from first google link.

Suddenly when book was printed is become sensational news, but I think people bought it mainly because it is scandalous book and it is "cool" to have something like this.

732  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-01-19]China company invest 300mil to build world's first blockchain farm on: January 20, 2017, 12:56:39 PM
These Chinese are dominating the world of cryptocurrency and bet on the technology. many companies like genesis mining, BitMain... are in China and they have exchanges like BTCC... the Chinese have a very big influence. This is scary
It is scary, but tell me who we can blame in this situation? Definitely not Chinese investors for stepping forward and  grabbing the opportunity of this new tech.
China is growing and they are not afraid of join new technical trends, invest in blockchain tech (although in this case it is totally not bitcoin related).
Western companies have no guts to start projects like these, they are bound by restrictions and regulations to the point it stall their growth.
733  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin User Poll #3 - Monthly Income - are you an earner? on: January 20, 2017, 02:04:44 AM
I think the poll was better to have more answers <200 <500 <1000 because in some countries $1000 is really a high income within a month while in some countries it isn't enough even to pay the rental. When are going to be published the results from these polls?
Citizens of 1st world countries often forgets that McDonald's minimal wage is not something people can earn easily in every place on earth.
More options should be added to show how dire situation of some people is, after seeing preliminary results of this poll - poor people are attracted to BTC the most.
734  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will segwit be activated? on: January 20, 2017, 01:43:33 AM
Current data: Mining Pool Support by Proposal - Bitcoin Unlimited is supported by 17.30% of miners, SegWit by 16.67 and 8 MB Blocks Increase by 9.30%
As we can see Bitcoin Unlimited is winning with SegWit, we can forget about 95% consensus. Roger Ver was very happy when he tweeted that:

"Bitcoin Unlimited now has more support from bitcoin miners (and likely users for a while now) than SegWit in the last 24 hours."

735  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wild thought on: January 20, 2017, 01:37:30 AM
I don't see banknote demonetisation happening in the USA, not in the foreseeable future. There is literally no excuse US government can use to legitimize move like this.
Furthermore, Trump knows that he is already viewed as controversial figure, he wouldn't want people to remember him as President Who Took Their Money.

736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If LTC is faster than BTC, Why Don't We Use It? on: January 20, 2017, 12:59:24 AM
It is not about technicalities of a bitcoin that people stick to it, bitcoin is not the most advanced cryptocurrency you can find today.
But I still believe that Bitcoin has the best ideal distribution as it was once worth $0 and no one was promising its users anything.
Also if you are tired of BTC slow confirmation times. I heard that Ripple gets 100% confirmation in ~10 seconds, you can always switch.
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin is not supported in some countries? on: January 19, 2017, 11:50:42 PM
Some third world countries dont have an active effect of bitcoin in the transaction within their region, yet they claim they cant afford their populace to adopt it. The fear for the coin worries me atimes. Why the fear to make life easier with technology
Can you provide source material with the statement that authorities of some 3rd world country denied bitcoin because they "can't afford their populace to adopt it".
Because this declaration seems totally detached from reality and wrong on so many levels. To accept or adopt bitcoin one don't need anything but working internet network.
I would rather have bitcoin payment implemented than having foreign Bank branch opened in my country.

738  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1000$ rally tomorrow on: January 19, 2017, 02:57:15 PM
Believe me. Chinese traders will have pivotal role in the bitcoin trading for a long time, until China will ban bitcoin and they decide to dump all coins. Bitcoin's price is still being formed mainly in China.

As much as I would like for Trump's inauguration to boost price of BTC, but I expect it will be another political event without real influence on Bitcoin, just like Brexit before.
739  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-18] Bitcoin: Why It Now Belongs in Every Portfolio on: January 19, 2017, 02:27:50 PM
About time for Nasdaq.com to cover a bitcoin story, it's very good article, with some well presented facts (with sources!) and info.
It is rare to see so pro-bitcoin article on a website which is known to support old fashioned investing methods.
Instant bookmark for me.

Quote
They want to deport immigrants or place them in detention camps, just like Hitler wanted to deport Jews and place them in concentration camps
There is a huge difference there. Concentration camps were used to conduct Hitler's Final Solution doctrine - which was basically killing Slavs and Jews.

I don't see any killings happening in current 'detention camps'. And I have question for you, where do you think waves of illegal immigrants should go?
We should let them roam free on our streets? Or maybe we should give them prize - social benefits and free apartments for illegally crossing our borders?
