This coin is awesome. As long as Tobler keeps up the good work I have no worries with this one.
Agreed, Tobler is a reliable Dev Smiley

You can tell its all the same guy putting in that buy support, the same guy that is dumping. Let it go to 5000 sats, hope for 2000 sats. Take his cheap coins.

100% agree, I just pulled all my buy support for now. I don't feel like giving my BTC to this miner.
Good idea, I've also pulled my buy support to let the price fall further.

I dropped some GEO into some parks in Canada's major cities, for all the hungry Canadian GEO Hunters out there Smiley
724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: April 10, 2015, 11:37:25 PM
Agreed, I don't have any buys and I suggest others pull their buy orders while the dumping continues.  I'm waiting until the whales finish puking GEO, looking for a new floor to be reached first.

Good job Tobler! I like what I'm seeing here, everything runs beautifully. Responsive map as well. Awesome job.
Remember folks this is just the beginning, don't let a handful of pathetic fudders con you out of your coins. They want in for cheap because they see the potential here. Just put 90% of my GEO in cold storage, the others ill use to put on the map. Be sure to tweet your locations where people can get their coins, lets reach out there.
I will be dropping coins across the province of BC Canada later today!  Let's fill the map with GEOs!!

Thanks for addressing the issues with the Geocashing interface so quickly Tobler.  Let the hunt begin!

Update

We're happy to announce public beta registration is open for Geocashing at: http://wallet.geocoin.cash/

Simple instructions:

1. Sign up and send GEO to your HTML5 GeoCashing Wallet.
2. From a desktop computer, drag and drop your coins on the GeoCashing map. Once dropped, you can drag them around for precise locations. Click Save when ready.
3. From a mobile device, click the "Geocollect" button. You will be asked to allow location tracking, click yes. As you move you will see your location on the map. When you get close to a GeoCoin, it will be awarded to your account.

Please remember you are signing up for beta testing. There are some known bugs we are working on. Users that attempt to fake their location will be banned.

Thanks to everyone for your support, particularly the alpha testers that have helped us get this far. Big opportunities ahead for GEO. Happy hunting!
New interface is looking really nice, transferring in some GEO!

Looks like GeoCoin is rank 119 on http://coinmarketcap.com/all/views/all/  prior to the beta release.  Lets see if we can break in to the top 100!

Estimated time for Beta?

We're just working out some adjustments found in alpha testing. It will be later tonight Pacific time. Roughly 12 hours or so  Smiley.
Thanks for the update Tobler!

Thanks for the update Tobler, and thanks for letting me help with the alpha testing so far!

While GeoCashing is being developed, someone should go hide a GeoCoin paperwallet on http://geocaching.com and see if that person comes to this forum!

Maybe add a qrcode with a link to this thread onto the paper wallet.

Sounds like a great promotional idea  Cool
I'd be willing to drop one off in a Geocache once the paperwallet is ready, I've found over 200 geocaches from geocaching.com!

I was watching the new last night and there was an article about GeoCaching. It looks cool. GeoCoin adds in GeoCashing to GeoCaching. What a sweet move.

Brilliant move! Tobler is like genius. Target a large industry with something they actually want.

If you stop to do some research and think of the implications GEO has, you will be mind blown. Right now we are all so excited about geocashing and crypto, but don't forget about the long term plan of integrating GIS analysis into the POW. That honestly blows my mind. The dev here can actually make it happen too, its not just a great idea that can change the world. Dev and community growing around this project are very good too and definitely worth investing in.

Once GIS analysis is integrated, do you think its possible that anyone from home could pay 1 GeoCoin and run a better/faster analysis than whats currently only available to universities and large corporations?

I think GEO has some real potential for delivering exactly that.  I also like the idea of spending some GEO for an analysis!

I agree! I think the Geocashing interface will really help with mainstream adoption of the coin.  But when the Geominer gets implemented, that's where GEO can really change the world (literally).

Suggestion: since we're dealing with virtual cash here, call it geocashing instead of geocaching

That's actually a pretty awesome idea.
I agree that's an excellent term for promoting the game!
738  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: March 19, 2015, 01:48:01 AM
I agree the Dev has been actively working on things, I've even helped test out some of the geodashing game that is coming up and the first tests were successful and fun Cheesy  I am patiently waiting for more releases.
739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: March 18, 2015, 03:04:19 AM
I have an idea. Could you use google earth flight simulator to collect geocoins since they would have a coordinate on the earth? Like see this guy flying around in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSHBvsrpTpE

Like a side video game project for geocoin. Fly through the grand canyon collecting coins. If you crash you lose coins.
I really like the idea!  Would it still be geodashing for the GeoCoins?  it could be a race!  Cheesy

I dropped a bunch of GEO on Whistler Ski Resort BC, Canada.  I'll try and grab as many as I can tomorrow while snowboarding!  Unless someone beats me there!! Grin

That will be a great test! Enjoy your time on the mountain Smiley
Just got back from some beta testing (snowboarding) and the results were great.  Smiley

I was able to pick up many of the GeoCoins I placed around Blackcomb Mountain!!  I would have grabbed them all if my cell phone battery didn't die on me.  Trader19's idea of putting coins on Mt. Everest gave me the inspiration to drop some on top of a mountain.  What a great place to find 5 GEO!

Amazing! Cruising down the mountain on a snowboard collecting coins! Was it like a real life video game?
To be honest it was fun grabbing these today.  I was also thinking, if you dropped a ton of GEO all over the runs, you could have a real world GEO pacman game!
