721  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 23, 2023, 07:00:09 PM
Harry Kane departure certainly affected the depth of Tottenham squad, the first two matches in the EPL could not be fully used as a benchmark. Kane has contributed to the team over a long period of time, his consistency in scoring goals is difficult to replace. Agree with what you said, The Lilywhites victory over United was more about luck. Because Eriq Ten Hag troops have not performed at their best, after the reshuffle in the transfer market.

Son will become the new foundation after Kane leaves, Richarlison, who uses number 9 after the death of Harry Kane, is still unable to score.

I don’t think Tottenham can be said to lucky with the win over Manchester United. If they had won the game with only the own goal scored by Martinez, then we could perhaps say Spurs had won with a bit of luck on their side. But that isn’t so. They had played well and were rewarded with the win at the end of the game.

Kane exit from Tottenham may have affected the squad a bit as Kane was really instrumental in the team as he was relied upon when it came to scoring goals and goals he did score.
Son is a great player and could greatly help cushion the effects of Kane’s departure from the club.
722  Economy / Economics / Re: Entrepreneurship and women on: August 23, 2023, 05:32:02 PM
Actually, women don't need entrepreneurial education if the man behind them helps to grow the business. In my country, a successful woman always has a man or husband that helps them as a marketer or manager. They cannot move on their own due to time and manpower constraints. they are usually married, so have to divide their time with family, so that situation, a woman still needs a man to help develop a career. In fact, women can't be successful alone without a man behind.

Everyone needs to have some sort of entrepreneurial education if they want to start up and run a business. You can't do anything and actually succeed if you don't have an idea of what you're doing.
You've got the notion that a woman can't be successful without a mans help. That's not true anywhere. Women are also good marketers and managers as well and actually don't need help from anyone.

Without the basic knowledge of how to run and manage a business, that business wouldn't grow and would probably go under irrespective of who is behind the business.
Your thoughts about women not being able to be successful without the help of a man are merely your opinions and not facts.
723  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos Should Also Be Prepared For Health Emergencies on: August 23, 2023, 03:43:41 PM
The article says the attorneys of the family are claiming the dealer and the casino ignored the man when he was slumped over. That is a ridiculous claim in my opinion as no casino would like to have someone die with everyone watching on their premises. They probably would prefer you alive so you could spend more money.

I guess having a player slumped over the table is like a normal sight as no one thought to check on him for a while.Obviously, a primarily profit and entertainment oriented organization would spend much more on things that would attract the crowd, give them a good time and later begin to make profit as they empty their wallet on the premises.

It's sad that he went unnoticed for that long and I think he probably would have survived if he would noticed much sooner. But I don't think that argument put up by the attorneys of the family holds much water. The fact that he suffered a cardiac arrest and died is sad but not the fault of the casino.
724  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do star players affect the odds of a match bet? on: August 23, 2023, 02:59:23 PM
I don't think just one individual player, no matter how much of a star he may seem to be influences much. Football is a team effort irrespective of the contribution of one or two players who may seemingly perform and play better.  They've been multiple instances where not so strong teams having the better chances of winning when going up against stronger teams having the best players.
While a superb player could perhaps influence the odds a little, there are several factors that would contribute to the odds of a game.
725  Economy / Economics / Re: How to avoid over expenses and have discipline on: August 22, 2023, 07:06:54 PM
It's wise if we buy what we need, not what we want.
But I don't think everyone can do this because it is very difficult to do. However, if we can respect the decisions we have made to be wiser in allocating finances, this will be easier to do.

I personally haven't been able to fully do that, sometimes if I go to the supermarket or look at the online Shop when I want to buy the things I need there are always useless items that go into the basket.

It takes real discipline for anyone to have and keep with a set budget and it’s more harder for someone who spends extravagantly. But if we could be disciplined enough to follow through on a set budget, resisting the urge to purchase things that isn’t necessary, we would make better financial choices.

I think it’s best whenever you’re going shopping to first have a list of whatever you’re going to need to buy. Having a list in your hands could help keep you focused on the exact things you need and also helps to keep irrelevant items away from your basket.
726  Economy / Economics / Re: It ain't meant to be easy on: August 22, 2023, 03:09:22 AM

I keep seeing forum members make complaints about not getting merits and all. It will be very hypocritical of me to say we shouldn't care about merit and ranking up, but your desire to rank up should lead you in the right direction.
The goal is to learn and grow, then make meaningful contributions that can grow other forum members. It's not going to be easy, and it will take time, but it will be worth it in the end.

Yes, the goal should be to learn more and grow in knowledge so we could also impact meaningful contributions to both new and existing members. But we all have our individual goals and aspirations when registering on here and that’s why we see people on here more focused on the rank on their profiles than the knowledge we all stand to gain.
About members making complaints about not getting the merits they feel they deserve. Needless to say, some members are more eager about getting merits than they are about learning anything.
Admittedly, we all seek and desire to grow in our personal lives and elsewhere but growth requires time and lots of effort. Time and effort some
727  Economy / Economics / Re: How to avoid over expenses and have discipline on: August 22, 2023, 12:33:28 AM
I particularly liked your point 4. Make the 24 hour rule. I think it’s practicable and if done right, could help put off unnecessary spending.

Irrelevant purchases often happen on a whim and most people tend to give in to those urges to buy what would seem then to be urgently needed.
But if you could just put off buying that item for a while, you would realize you don’t really need it.
728  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: August 21, 2023, 03:14:43 AM
Yeah, for me it is better to keep it to yourself that you are a gambler because most of the time people around you still has that stigma that people who gamble always end up being addicted or being bankrupt that's why it is good that you keep it to yourself if you knew that it is the kind of behavior of the people around you but then like you said it is good that you can share stories bout sports and some strats.

It’s much better to keep your activities to yourself. People are open to mostly criticism and condemnation from the society when they tend to always publicize their everyday lives. I think there are people who would only mostly have negative and sometimes hurtful inputs so it’s better not to give them anything to talk about.
A lot of people are hypocritical and are equally intent on shamelessly putting forth their shitty opinions on how/what someone else should do and behave.
729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 on: August 21, 2023, 02:25:52 AM
I almost laid money on England in this one, thanking myself now for laying off.  Didn't get to watch the game but it seemed like a tight match all the way through.  Great touny for Spain and heartbreak for England.

Lately, I’m a bit hesitant sometimes to put up money on women’s football myself. Sadly, I haven’t had much luck. But the game was tight alright. The game produced only one goal which was was scored early on in the first half and that proved to the winning goal.

I bet England had badly hoped for an equalizer during the final moments of the game so perhaps the game could go into penalties but Spain was dead set on holding onto their lead while trying to increase the tally till the end. Good game and a great win for Spain.
730  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 21, 2023, 01:46:17 AM
Looking at Everton the club needs to start getting good performances else they could be relegated this season, their performance last season wasn't all good as well and i expected a change this season but so far it's been defeat upon defeat and they'll be facing Wolves who are also hungry to get their 1st win during the weekend on Saturday, anyways though they'll be playing at home but i think it's a draw match.

They really do need to change strategies cause the one being doesn’t seem to be working too well. They had a poor performance and just managed to avoid being relegated last season. Now they’ve started this season as well playing poorly. Their lost their last game with Aston villa and conceded 4 goals in the process. Not a good way to start the new season.

Their game with Wolves in my opinion, isn’t looking too good for them either. Despite playing really well and still losing in the game with Manchester United, they’re sure hungry to clinch the win. Still unsure of the outcome but I see both team scoring a goal in this game.
731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 18, 2023, 04:48:25 PM
It can still won the game even though you called it as poort performance. Totenham was in a different situation right now. kane has always become the top scorer for totenham but the club playes without him. There is no good striker in totenham at this moment.
The club can only count on richarlison who will have more burden after kane leave from the club. We will see different totenham. It will be playing fully offensive against manchester united.

Totenham may lose full points.

Yes, they still won the game despite not playing not so great. And irrespective of the performance, a win is a win. Perhaps the distraction caused by a fan was what was needed to calm high nerves and boosted composure needed to hold the scoreline.
Tottenham may seem like a somewhat easy win for Manchester United. Wolves looked like an easy win too and while United later secured a win in the end, it wasn’t easy.
While Richarlison didn’t really perform as expected last season, along with Son, he could still be a threat to United’s chances of a win. A good thing United has someone like Onana defending its goal.

732  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 18, 2023, 02:09:02 PM
I will watch the Tottenham vs Manchester United match before the Manchester City vs Newcastle match. The two Manchester teams seem to have a good probability of winning their respective matches, even if Manchester United are playing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In the case of Tottenham vs Manchester United, Tottenham would  surely miss Harry Kane. They would be playing without him and this could mean their attacks and pressure on United’s goal wouldn’t be so heavy. United defenders would only have to worry about Son and would have to mark him closely so as to stop any attempt.

Then, i think Manchester United had a very poor performance in their midfield during their last game with Wolves and although it was a team effort, I think the defense and the goalie made more of an impact in the game. They would need to work on their midfield if they would want to have the win over Spurs.
733  Economy / Economics / Re: Any business where today you launch, tomorrow you begin making profit...? on: August 18, 2023, 12:19:02 PM
So, are you asking business ideas where you could immediately start making profits after launch or telling us on how you missed out on the superb opportunity presented to you by your friend. Perhaps both?
I doubt anyone here would have any ideas on a legitimate business idea where you could start today and begin raking in the profits the next day.

Perhaps a business in which your services are rendered could bring in profits for you. But even that won’t guarantee profits the next day. Success doesn’t always happen overnight.
734  Economy / Economics / Re: Bad economic situation makes bitcoins more difficult to keep. on: August 17, 2023, 05:01:54 PM
I think bitcoin would be easier held without the constant temptation to touch it if you’ve got several means of income. That way, you could safely set aside money for investments that would not be affected when emergency pops up.
Folks living in countries with seemingly better economies are also riddled with inflation, bills and responsibilities as well. And without having side jobs to try to stay afloat, just anyone would be tempted to sell off some of their bitcoin holdings.
735  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Say no to insurance - Beaware of Isurance scam on: August 17, 2023, 04:36:33 PM
Insurance isn’t a scam and while they’re at it making money as a business, they’re also paying out legitimate claims.
There are lots of insurance companies who aren’t licensed to operate and aren’t regulated. These types of sham insurance companies are the ones who go ahead to refuse paying out claims to policyholders or/and beneficiaries.
These people who go to rural areas to try to convince and later scam uneducated people know their mark. They’re mostly not licensed nor approved to run an insurance company. They’re scammers who go out and prey on the ignorant.
736  Economy / Economics / Re: How to developed your capital on: August 17, 2023, 04:04:11 PM
I took time to research and observed that 75% of youths their problem is inability to develop their capital in capital market, most at times we are bless with so much that one find it difficult to control your finances or resources. I notice it usually affects people do not work hard to earn but probably the gimics or scams that makes them to make this money easily but after a while you discovered the person down why?

75% is a lot. Surely there are a lot more youths who are more financially responsible and capable of managing and growing their wealth. Yes, In a lot of cases, money not earned as well as Ill gotten gains doesn’t stay too long in one’s hands and are spent on irrelevant lavish things that would quickly dry up whatever funds you may have had. Money not worked for/earned will not be spent judiciously.

On your points, reading loads of books on how best to manage and grow your finances won’t just make anyone financially stable. It’s much easier to read on these things than to actually practice and get results.
Also, you should know investments doesn’t always bring in profits as losses are experienced.
737  Economy / Economics / Re: What Actually Drives People/Gov to Adopt New and Bold Decisions on: August 17, 2023, 03:23:04 PM
The Thing that drives one person, or nation, or governments to make such bold moves is Desire because even when we were living together in subcontinent, we could make civilized nation and still follow our norms, Englishmen could follow their norms, Indian could follow their norms and Muslims could follow their norm. But the only thing that excites everyone to move ahead of other was Desire

I think what motivates a government of a nation or a citizen to make bold decisions is the willingness to acquire and keep power. The urgency to acquire and retain power, I think lies in any government of a nation. With power in your hands, you could control the narrative to favor your agenda.
It’s a hard pill to swallow but the wealthy elites and sadly, the government wants the general public to remain majorly dependent on them. With dependency, whatever control you’ve got begins to recede. What government wouldn’t love a controlled, obedient citizenry?
738  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: August 16, 2023, 11:59:23 PM
BTW, there is already confirmation that Elon Musk has won the real battle against Mark Zuckerberg. Check this:

https://www.ynetnews.com/business/article/ry2iwed32

There was so much hype related to Threads, immediately after its launch on 5th July 2023. So many people were predicting the demise of Twitter and claiming that Threads was going to replace it. But similar to so many other copycat ventures from Zuckerberg, this one also failed miserably. And this time, Threads flopped despite the entire left-wing establishment rallying in its support. I am sure that Elon will be boosted by his success in micro-blogging domain. A win in cage fight would be an added sweetener.

I didn’t think for a second that Threads would be a replacement for Twitter. Twitter is already an established platform dominating the social media space. It would take almost a miracle for a completely new platform to healthily rival Twitter. Obviously, people were interested in Threads mostly cause it was new and majorly unknown. After all the hype about Threads has gone, and the dust settled, people are now back to Twitter(X) like they never left.
A cage fight is never going to happen.
739  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: August 15, 2023, 08:04:03 AM
What prevents Biden from visiting Hawaii? Even the local Democrat leaders have criticized Biden's handling this time. When Justin Sink (Bloomberg White House correspondent) interviewed Biden during the beach getaway, Biden just said "no comment" when asked about the Hawaii disaster. BTW, a lot of conspiracy theories are floating around in the social media. Some of them are claiming that the residents of Lāhainā were targeted deliberately for their refusal to sell real estate to billionaires. Celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey own large plots of real estate near the affected area. BTW, authorities denied permission for a PR exercise from Oprah, after she reached one of the shelters with TV crew:

https://news.sky.com/story/hawaii-wildfires-oprah-winfrey-turned-away-from-shelter-as-death-toll-rises-12939060

I didn’t know it’s now compulsory for the president to visit states that just suffered and trying to recover from a disaster. He has approved federal funding to try and help them get past this crisis. You also want him to visit there along with his entourage and have resources that would be utilized due to his visit when they could be put to a more better use.

Yes, a lot of conspiracy theories are all over the internet cause of the fire and I would say it’s mostly being spread around by right wing nuts. Without any real evidence, these theories are baseless and should be rightfully ignored.
According to the article you shared, she was initially denied access out of respect for the folks who are there seeking help and safety. And she was later granted access but without her camera crew. Apparently, there’s a no media policy that’s in place.

I’m not surprised by all the fake outrage. Even if Biden visited Maui, Republicans would look for something else(mostly irrelevant things) to use in criticizing the president.
740  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 14, 2023, 11:51:57 PM
Luckily, Raphael Varane managed to score a goal in the 76 minute. Erik ten Hag shouldn't be too happy if he only gets one goal; unless Manchester United manage to score more than two goals, then that would be a source of pride. Wolves also attempted more shots at goal, so it can be said that Manchester United were lucky to win this match.

I think Manchester United could have performed better than they did and they were somewhat lucky to have gotten a goal that ultimately gave them the win in the game. If you had looked more closely at what I had wrote, you would have noticed I sad Ten Hag would be proud of having brought the goalie, Onana into the squad. He’s already proving to be really useful and this is shown in the game with Wolves. He saved a lot of goal bound balls as Wolves made several attempts at scoring a goal.

A win is a win irrespective of how many goals were scored. At the end of the game, Manchester United claimed the 3 points for themselves and that’s what important.
