723  Economy / Reputation / Re: BlackHatCoiner decided to take a leave from bitcointalk on: December 09, 2023, 07:24:12 PM
You are right SmartGold01 it will have negative effects on newbies who looked up to him but I am sure he had good reasons to leave.i too look up to many members like light_warrior who passed away but I had to keep trying to do my best on the forum. I think having heroes are quite nice but keeping your expectations too high isn't worth it so I think newbies out there should make the best of themselves here regardless of which members leave or stay.
724  Economy / Reputation / Eulogy for light_warrior. on: December 09, 2023, 03:22:29 AM
After a long and busy day I decided to make this post I have been longing to make for quite a while now only for me  to proceed surfing the forum and discover we had lost a hero on this forum recently. Since I am quite good at poem writing and although I never really knew "light_warrior" I real life I decided to  write a Eulogy as my way of saying goodbye slept of though  but was able to complete it .Here it goes;

EULOGY for the forum
This eulogy I write for light_warrior to Bitcointalk

Oh light_ warrior of blessed memories
a Bitcoin supporter scrolling through the asile of life's ledger with cryptographic might
a story decentralized a journey adventurous has come to an end on his digital scroll.

Oh light_warrior amidst the sorrow respect encrypted
a symphony of cryptography, forever scripted
A just member who ran the race over scams
a hero whose face time can't erase.

Oh light_warrior a Bitcoin talk hero
oh light_warrior a decentralized soul
a spirit encrypted soaring the crypto breeze now put to rest with proper praise.

Oh light_warrior  a warrior indeed without fright his light shone bright scams and hacks flee
A lee indeed for we kneel in respect as his lights go out.

EULOGY for the family
This eulogy I write for light_warrior to the family

With heavy hearts we give last respect to our brother light_warrior
With heavy hearts we bid farewell to a soul remarkable
a soul of able kindness ,an unwavering spirit a blessing indeed he was.

Blue we not be as we bid this soul good bye
True his memories a gentle life's celebration indeed
oh a friend indeed

In all challenges faced a man who stood tall in grace
a soul resilient through his lengths of life
In ink his name the letters of "BRAVERY"

Though we bid goodbye as light_warrior lays to rest his race holds a record unwavering in our heart
A soul nice and kind has come to stay In our hearts a soul now free of life in the tapestry of his existence.

From an anonymous friend to light_warrior
Mia

726  Other / Beginners & Help / Applying signatures and avatars on: December 08, 2023, 06:10:45 PM
A lot of new members on the forum often ask questions about Avatar, signatures and personal text and Most of them usually have some issues setting them up. However In this thread I created some time ago Hamza2424 suggested a guide concerning signatures and avatars.so I decided to create one coupled with the fact that I have come across some threads by new members concerning them and I don't know if an image guide has been created before.this thread will carry important information about signatures and avatar including a guide on setting it up.

Avatar
This is the small sized image usually displayed in your profile or under your username when you make a post. It acts like a form of profile picture for users.

Setting it up
Before heading to your profile to set up a new avatar make sure you have the avatar image ready and available on the device you are using this because the image file would be uploaded from your device and not "TALKImg" .below are criteria necessary to consider before choosing a avatar image.
  • Rank ;To be able to upload an avatar to your profile you must be at least a full member.
  • Resolution ; The avatar resolution must not be greater than 120px × 80px.if the image you wish to use is greater you would have to use a possible software to reduce its resolution before attempting to upload.
  • Size ; The file size of the image you wish to use as avatar should not be greater than 100kib.
  • File type ; The standard accepted file types are PNG, jpeg and non animated GIFs although some ordinary GIF files may work.
STEP By STEP GUIDE
1. Open your profile, click "forum profile information", click on "Go here" then click "choose file".now select your preferred avatar image and click upload. See images below;

To remove an avatar just click on upload file without selecting any file.

Signature
This is a unique form of design code which is usually displayed under your profile and post.These signatures are capable of embedding links depending on the signature code.

Setting it up
Before heading to your profile to apply a new signature make sure you have the signature code ready and copied to your device clipboard.signatures are limited depending on ranks.below are some factors to be considered before uploading a signature.
  • Rank ; Signatures can be updated from Jr member to legendary ranks. However the number of maximum characters of signature code applicable varies depending on rank. Below is a breakdown.
    • Jr member --> 150 characters max
    • Member --> 4000 characters max
    • Full member --> 4000 characters max
    • Sr member --> 4000 characters max
    • Hero member --> 4000 characters max
    • Legendary --> 4000 characters max
Disclaimer!!! ---> Be sure not to promote a scam website with your signature space . therefore check for scams before uploading a signature.promoting scam websites on your signature could lead to negative trust feedback on your profile.

STEP By STEP GUIDE
To apply a signature from your forum profile information click on the text box for signature and paste in the required signature code the. Click change profile as shown in the image below.

To remove a signature clear all the code in the signature text box and click change profile.

Note also that signature also has a few mods depending on your rank also. Below is a summary;

- Jr. Member: No links allowed. Max 150 characters.
- Member: Unlimited length.
- Full member: Color allowed.
- Sr. Member: Size allowed
- Hero member: Background color allowed
- Legendary: Background color allowed
727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHY PEOPLE ARE NOT TAKING THEIR PRIVACY SERIOUSLY. on: December 07, 2023, 06:59:51 AM
This is very interesting.alot of members come online and speak in support of privacy but only a few of them actually take it seriously.

Most persons don't take it seriously because of laziness

Some have the feeling no harm can come to my funds

Some feel they are too careful for their privacy to leak out

Some are reluctant to using privacy tools like Bitcoin and mixers because the government is against it.besides the average Joe always wants to please the government.
728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and me, how I discovered the greatest human invention after the internet on: December 06, 2023, 09:07:00 AM
No offense Op your thread seems sentimental you only talked more about the profit side of Bitcoin but didn't talk about decentralization, anonymity and other key properties of what make Bitcoin unique.
In conclusion your thread seems more like this thread;Bitcoin and me (Hal Finney) made by the legendary Hal who was one of the earliest adopter and supporter of Bitcoin .I suggest you check it out do you can get better insights.
Don't forget to keep your keys safe mate 😁
729  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: AVERAGE JOE, DO YOU WANT IN BITCOIN DURING THE CURRENT BULL MARKET? [READ THIS] on: December 06, 2023, 08:50:55 AM
So far Bitcoin has been shown to be the best investment right now in the market, with it's price skyrocketing in the past few weeks and currently at an all time high of $43780 at the time of posting.
Firstly Op this cannot be referred to as ATH because this is not the highest price Bitcoin has ever reached. The Bitcoin ATH was over $68,789.63 which was achieved November 2021.although different exchange platforms had slightly close values.
Secondly how many newbies would actually get these books to read? I believe the best way for a newbie to understand Bitcoin he should rather spend time on this forum and engaging in important discussions while also trying as much as possible to implement what he learns.practice and experience are very necessary in the crypto space.
730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think voting for Bitcoin to become a legal tender was the plan? on: December 05, 2023, 06:03:55 PM
The simplest summary is Satoshi NAKAMOTO's aim was to create a currency free from inflation which is now implemented by halving to reduce the amount of Bitcoin in circulation and secondly to create a currency free from control by any entity especially the government.this is where the decentralization of Bitcoin comes into play. The Bitcoin network is not controlled by a single person but by developers ,miners who run nodes and we the users.
Some other reasons include  creating a currency that is impossible to fake.this works for Bitcoin because new validations are stacked in a block format making it more difficult to alter previous blocks.
731  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I check the blockhain? on: December 05, 2023, 05:49:29 PM
You don't need to run a node to be able to check or monitor your transaction status on the Blockchain.you can make use of

Alot of persons who loss in the crypto space loss usually to shitcoins.this is due to the fact that they fail to understand that shit coins are a pump dump scheme which is supposed to be used for trading or small transactions if the mempool is conjested when necessary and not hodling.
Just like this suggestion by philipma1957
Use LTC and Doge for small numbers.

Use BTC for big numbers.

All problems will be greatly reduced.
in this post
So Firstly what I would do is not hodl shit coins
Secondly op from your explanation you made a great loss which would have been avoided if you hodl Bitcoin.
My conclusion is stop hodling shit coins but instead hodl Bitcoin.

What's with this profile settings? I can't set my profile picture. I need a guid.
Firstly op it's called avatar and signatures
Secondly your rank is not enough to apply one on your profile.you would have to be at least a full member or a copper member to upload a signature
You can buy a copper membership using:Buy a copper membership

My question is should altcoins really be blamed for hate some persons have for Bitcoin due to their loss in alt coins?
So pretty much you're asking if instead of blaming themselves, people prefer to blame something they decided to purchase? Of course! No one likes to admit that he did something wrong, it's easier to blame someone else or something else, they feel better that way. Admitting that we were wrong is not easy, for many people it's actually impossible.
This is my point exactly.these people fail to understand what made them lost instead they attribute blames to same altcoins that some persons used to make profit or Bitcoin which had nothing to do with their loss
738  Economy / Reputation / Merit spamming [report] on: December 01, 2023, 08:33:52 PM
Hello everyone Bitcoin SV made an akward comment  on my recent post (Re: A friendly appeal) so I decided to go through his profile and I found a very suspicious case of merit exchange across alts or friends .below is a list of accounts connected .plus most of them have negative trust
  • corel has received 1 merit from CRAIC and has sent 33 merits to only CRAIC since the last 120 days
  • Grafen has received 2merits from CRAIC and has sent 3 merits to only CRAIC in the last 120 days, recently woke up from inactivity
  • Kounter received 10merits from CRAIC and has sent all his smerits(9) to CRAIC in the last 120 days
  • Kypher received 38 merits from CRAIC and sent 20 to CRAIC in the last 120 days
  • Bitcoin SV has a very strong negative active flag supported by many members including dt, has 27 negative trust ,2 neutral trust and has exchanges merit suspiciously to accounts on this list
  • Unikon earned merits and sent 40 merits to CRAIC in just 1 reply
  • CRAIC

This may not seem like much but the rate at which post spamming occur is quite concerning.however there is a new announcement concerning mixers on the foum of which theymos made in this thread; Mixers to be banned
Many forum members would want to make discussions of different sorts based on the topic but I believe it would spam the meta board. So I suggest that all discussions concerning the mixer announcement be made under theymos's post. In order to make this more effective I suggest the announcement also be pinned in the meta board also till the deadline (Jan 1st) just like most important posts on the meta board. Thanks
Just a friendly suggestion.

A lot of persons who despise Bitcoin or crypto currencies in General were once involved in them.some of these persons hated Bitcoin and crypto in general because of some common reasons.
Some of these persons may never have ventured the crypto space nor Bitcoin investments before because of some government restrictions against Crypto especially in countries like china etc where the government is strictly against it. Others are just afraid due to possible stories they have heard of people who lost drastically in the crypto space either due to hacks or scam.
However my main interest here is solely towards those who have invested in crypto in the past.Most of these persons hate Bitcoin and other Crypto currencies due to the great loss they suffered from dips in alt coins .most of these losses were as a result of improper understanding and experience before attempting massive investments.Of course some early adopters of Bitcoin who sold or lost access to Their coins have also lost faith in the crypto verse.
My question is should altcoins really be blamed for hate some persons have for Bitcoin due to their loss in alt coins?
