721  Economy / Reputation / Re: Most famous person on Bitcointalk? on: December 06, 2023, 09:57:52 AM
I'd be curious to know if we have actual celebrities on the forum although I think if that was ever found out, those accounts might leave or create a new account to save themselves the headache from beggars and fanatics.

There's many who have been considered famous when it comes to the bitcoin world. Satoshi, Hal Finney, Gmaxwell, Vitalik, Charlie Lee, theymos, are among a few of those names that comes to mind, all of whom have been mentioned already. There are tons more active users who have some sort of fame. For example, current campaign managers have fame as they are the ones hiring and letting people earn bitcoin. Gambling site owners have some fame as well. Too many to list but check the gambling section, most of the sites topics are active.

722  Economy / Reputation / Re: Royse777 will not pay anyone for the last week /Sinbad campaign/ on: December 05, 2023, 08:53:40 AM
Off topic a little but this whole situation does make me wonder if managers should keep spreadsheets private? Who knows how many address are being watched at this point?
I have no idea how to find the specific post, but I brought this up a while back.  It wasn't in the form of a suggestion if I recall, but a question as to why those spreadsheets are made public.  I got a bunch of answers.  And now here we are, all paranoid about what lists and what addresses might be on those lists are being kept by our elected thieves.  Dang, I'm thinking shit probably ought to have changed a long time ago.
I already asked this question when the issue of private spreadsheets became rampant. Although I didn't get an answer. There's a difference when a common user like me asks a question and when a reputable member like you asks a question. Your questions and opinions opinions will surely be respected.

But as someone already said, if the escrow address is made public, the essence of hidden spreadsheet is defeated. If I search the escrow address on a campaign pay day, I will be able to see all the campaign participants address, maybe I will have issues linking them, but a little more time will still reveal all.
None of it should be public. The manager can just confirm they have funds for the week. Participants believe or leave, simple.
723  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos after the shutdowns of mixers on: December 03, 2023, 10:45:19 PM
Mixers will still exist, just not in this space. Someone isn't going to risk a 5 million dollar bet to launder their money I wouldn't think either and also risk the casino confiscating their money due to not being able to provide proof of income.
724  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is forum reputation enough to influence mixers? on: December 03, 2023, 10:31:46 PM
Mixers are just going to get a little more innovative and find different ways to advertise. There's a ton of dirty money out there that apparently is worth risking prison over. The forum isn't the only place to advertise.
725  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm looking for sites with good sports predictions on: December 03, 2023, 02:17:05 PM
I used the free pick on wunderdog.com for awhile. They usually gave 1 free pick per day and they offered a decent analysis on why they picked who they picked. They also offer a paid version where you can choose packages based on sports you are interested in. I am not vouching for these guys picks, just a site I used a little.

2) $3000
3) Yes

I might be interested but I wouldn't want tokens and i'd want paid up front. Non negotiable
727  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BC.Game not taking Responsible Gaming or Problem Gambling seriously on: December 03, 2023, 01:20:29 PM
I really think it's a huge crock of shit when people try to blame a site for their addiction. The site did not make you sign up. They didn't make you deposit. They didn't tell you to do anything. You made the choice to do all these things. Yes, I see you addressed the fact that people might say these things, but that doesn't mean you are right to accuse a site of your incompetence.

I have gained 5lbs over the last week. Whom should I sue to get my weight taken off? The food companies that sold me the food I ate? Corporations that run the fast food joints? The gas station for giving me gas in my car so that I could go buy food?

Come on, it's getting ridiculous that noone wants to be held accountable for their own actions.

I have not blamed them for my addiction.  Whether you personally agree with it or not,  casinos have a responsibility when a player is showing clear signs of addiction/problem gambling. BC.Game has already acknowledged that themselves.

I am curious where do you draw the line in your views ?   Are you cool with a doctor over prescribing or knowingly supplying an addict with opiates ?   He's not forcing the pills down their throats.  It's their choice afterall.
It's not about the line that I draw, it's about you. I read through your post and some things bother me. You contacted your VIP host in Nov 2021 and let them know you had an addiction or whatnot. Throughout the last 2 years you contacted hosts multiple times asking/begging for bonuses, and even contacted a user who has contact with the casino. You got bonuses most times I assume? What did you expect efialtis to do for you? Get you a refund? Get your account banned? You also stated you asked about getting around an exclusion.

So, why wait 2 years to say anything?

I just want to add, I am not seeking all of my deposits back, or even all of my losses after I conveyed my gambling problems.  I told the casino I believe both parties made mistakes and exhibited poor judgment and that there should be a shared responsibility.  I made a proposal to the casino for a % of my losses after I communicated my problems.  I was told there was a near 0% chance for any portion of my losses back.  Even if they agreed to my proposal, they would still be profiting hundreds of thousands of dollars off my account, but they have been completely unwilling and uninterested.

Then you post this.

What if they had agreed and gave you some money? Would you not be posting this thread or would you go to gamble somewhere else or even back at BCgame until you went broke again? Then try to get more money?

Some of the things you post make sense and maybe the casino isn't operating like they should. I haven't read their license and do not know exactly what their obligations are regarding all your complaints. I don't feel like had they agreed to give you a % of the money you lost back, that that would have magically solved your addiction. I think you woulda pissed it away and tried again ultimately making this thread only at a later date.

If you knew you had an issue, and you knew the site wasn't operating in the correct fashion regarding gambling addiction, you should have made this thread well before you went broke and made the issues known so that they could be pressured to fix things. Wanting any sort or refund should never have come into the equation IMO. This is my opinion and i'm sure you disagree, that's fine you're allowed to. I think you need to seriously seek help if you have that bad of a problem and take responsibility for that problem.

728  Other / Meta / Re: Was the forum better before without Merit or is it better now with Merit? on: December 03, 2023, 09:01:34 AM
IMO merit was introduced to try to force users to do better since they weren't taking the initiative to do it on their own. Merit is needed in order to rank up and in order to earn some merit you have to put some effort in when posting.

If merit was used correctly, then of course it's a good thing for the forum. The issue is these farmers all got airdropped merit and are able to merit new accounts and rank them up, sell merit and make a buck, or help their already existing accounts rank up.

Overall, merit is great for the forum, but like everything else there are some issues.
729  Other / Meta / Re: Has Bitcointalk lost it's appeal for projects to announce themselves on? on: December 03, 2023, 08:07:15 AM
Observed lately that not many crypto projects announce themselves on bitcointalk these days. Currently successful projects like Ethereum, MANA, AAVE (back then ETHLEND), NEM have anns here, but as years passed we see projects stopped bothering with bitcointalk.

What do you think is the reason? Has bitcointalk lost it's charm?

I think loads of projects these days are now moving over to the current version of marketing. ANN Threads in here can be said to serve as a marketing mediums but the impact is no longer felt. The impact of having ANN Threads in here does not help with fund raising nor awareness anymore, hence, the decline.

Another factor is that bitcointalk is not actively involved in the new niches and advertisements that happens on twitter, I can say load of people have no idea about bitcointalk as a platform.

Bounty has also reduced or considered non-effective/efficient to the new projects.

All these contributed to the decline of ANN Thread in the forum.
I honestly don't think many altcoin projects from 2017 til now have really made much from announcing their project/token/ICO here. The bounty hunters do the work, but not efficiently. Hundreds of accounts with bots as followers that get few to no likes or comments, meaning they're reaching noone. Just a waste of money really even if it is just a token. If the project plans on listing or already is listed, the value is still there.

The value is in the people advertising the project, if they use only cheap methods to cheat a project then word of mouth gets around and shows other project to not waste their time. If you want projects to keep coming here, you need to show them you are valuable.
730  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 03, 2023, 05:35:53 AM
Pacers looked good tonight and they did it without 1 of their top players. Haliburton out with knee issues had to watch his team catch fire from the bench. 6 different players with double digit scores is pretty impressive. Would love to see these guys get healthy and make a deep run in the playoffs like they used to do in the 1990s.

732  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are You Keeping Numbers Or You Allow The Machine To Pick Your Numbers To Bet on: December 03, 2023, 03:09:57 AM
The lottery is very popular here in our country you can find lotto outlets in almost every corner of our city, and there's always a long line whenever the top prize balloons I frequently bet in a lottery but every time I bet I just mark the LP sign in a lotto form which means Lucky Pick that is the machine will be the one to pick the numbers for you.

My reason is I don't want to have attachments on numbers that I'm going to bet because it will make me a lotto betting addict, some bettors keep their favorite numbers to bet and they make sure that they bet on it daily in fear that it will come out when they failed to make a bet.

In your country do you have this LP lucky pick feature in the lotto form and do you choose LP to make a bet for you or are you keeping numbers to bet, what are your reasons, and what's your success rate?

I don't play the lottery, but I do play keno here and there. Basically the same thing. I usually choose numbers related to birthdays, anniversaries, or kids birth months. Can't say i'm up thousands or anything, but I have hit a couple x350 and x90 on the 2000-3000 bets I've placed on the game.
733  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CASHOUT OR NOT???? on: December 03, 2023, 02:37:16 AM

                                                                                                 BET'S OUTCOME/RESULT

HELLO EVERYONE

I PROMISED I'D COME BACK WITH UPDATES ON THE OUTCOME AND RESULT OF THE GAME. I SHOULD HAVE UPDATED Y'ALL EARLIER THAN THIS BUT I'VE BEEN PRETTY BUSY WITH STUFFS. AND SO I DECIDED NOT TO CASH OUT AND LET THE GAME PLAY THROUGH AND I DID. BUT UNFORTUNATELY ONE OF THE GAMES TOOK A NEGATIVE TURN AND RUINED EVERYTHING. I'M A BIT DISAPPOINTED BUT I'M STILL NOT REGRETTING MY DECISION BECAUSE THAT'S GAMBLE FOR YOU, SOMETIMES YOU WIN, SOMETIMES YOU LOOSE, SOMETIMES YOU'RE KEPT IN A TIGHT CORNER TO MAKE CERTAIN DECISIONS, SOMETIMES YOU MAKE THE RIGHT ONE, AND SOMETIMES THR WRONG ONES BUT THAT'S THE WORLD OF GAMBLE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT Y'ALL WOULD GONNA LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE BUT I DON'T REGRET MY ACTIONS AND IF I'M TO BE FACED WITH THE SAME SITUATION AGAIN, I'D STILL CHOOSE TO LET IT PLAY THROUGH.

When you make a bet like this you are looking to gamble period. So, cashout is never really an option IMO. Now, if you make it to the last game I would look for a way to hedge my bet and guarantee me myself some sort of profit, but that's the only if you make it to the last leg. Sorry you lost, maybe next time you'll have a better result.
734  Economy / Reputation / Re: Royse777 will not pay anyone for the last week /Sinbad campaign/ on: December 02, 2023, 11:59:50 PM
Off topic a little but this whole situation does make me wonder if managers should keep spreadsheets private? Who knows how many address are being watched at this point?
The point is it is not enough.

It starts from the beginning, the Escrow address of the campaign fund. Because people usually ask for campaign fund in an Escrow address and some managers publicly announce that address, it is a start of nightmare.

So if the Escrow address is known, nothing later will make sense even the whole spreadsheet is hidden and private.

I know even don't announce the Escrow address will not make sure all campaign participant's addresses will not be blacked list when a service is sanctioned but maybe it will require more steps from the CIA. to do this.
My point was that none of it be public. The only known is between the manager and the company. The manager can confirm they're holding a balance and can pay for the week or whatnot, but not publicly release an address or spreadsheet.

Can stuff still be traced through the blockchain? Yes, but it will be made a little harder as whoever might be watching will have to watch the blockchain day and night and look for similar transactions and then piece them together.
735  Economy / Reputation / Re: Royse777 will not pay anyone for the last week /Sinbad campaign/ on: December 02, 2023, 09:54:13 AM
I'm not sure why the fuss here? If you controlled the funds in the escrow address, would you send money from them with the warning that was posted? Take the loss folks and move on.

Off topic a little but this whole situation does make me wonder if managers should keep spreadsheets private? Who knows how many address are being watched at this point?
736  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 02, 2023, 09:35:12 AM
I agree that mprep should update the rules once the rules are set as far as mentioning mixers or bans are concerned, but I have to ask why does everything have to be explained with every scenario mentioned? Why don't people have common sense? If discussing a mixer isn't allowed and you really feel the need to have the discussion about a certain mixer, then do it via pm.
737  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you make gambling a profession - a full time job on: December 02, 2023, 05:21:07 AM
I'd like to clarify that this topic is distinguished from businesses or entrepreneurs involved in gambling as businesses, such as casino companies, etc., but with a focus on gamblers. I know there are many people who regard themselves as professionals at playing gambling games, but do you ever think that one can make gambling a full-time job and career because of his or her deep knowledge of the games? Can someone bet with little or no loss because it is one of the most unpredictable games to play?

Gambling to my understanding, is a trial-and-error game with uncertain outcomes, unpredictability, and luck. Therefore, professional gamblers must exhibit a deeper than usual understanding of the games, the statistical probabilities, and a high level of risk management skills.

However, it is critical to realize the risks involved, which include unstable financial circumstances and potential addiction problems. So, pursuing a gambling career should be approached with serious caution, and gamblers ought to be well-informed about the accompanying problems. Furthermore, I believe that having various sources of income and taking calculated risks will be highly beneficial.

But, in a broader sense, can you make gambling a career path, abandoning all other sources of income to focus entirely on it?
If so, why?
If not, please advise!
Poker players and sportsbetting are about the only 2 ways I would consider gambling a feasible option for making a living from and even those 2 aren't easy at all to make constant earnings from.

With sportsbetting you can get information on the sporting event you are looking to bet on. Injury reports, weather, record vs each other, record on the year, good home team, good road team, or whatever. Even knowing all this and making an educated bet does not guarantee a win on the bet, anything can happen still.

Poker is a game where a person can win upwards of 5-15 million in 1 tourney if they have skill and luck. Buyin to the world series main event every June in Las Vegas is $10000 and top prize goes up each year as more and more enter the tourney each year. You have to put a lot into learning the game of poker. Learning to read opponents, using math to figure out your odds of winning a hand, odds of whether a bet is worth calling, or a number of things.

IMO, you're better off getting a normal job and gambling here n there.
738  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: December 02, 2023, 01:47:45 AM
We have part 2 of Wizards vs Magic, I'm guessing it'll have the same result, so i'm talking Magic -11 hoping they'll cover and their hot streak to continue.

Aside from that game, I'm also leaning on the following teams with point spreads.

1) Philadelphia  +6.5 and  a little touch on ML
2) Dallas at Memphis over 226
3) Spurs at Pelicans over 237
4) Denver at Phoenix under 224

Good luck everyone!

I got the Magic ML and took Dallas live to win, but I'm an idiot and didn't look to see that Luka is out tonight so my bet is probably a loser. Currently Dallas is down 14 ugh.

Good luck with your bets.
739  Economy / Reputation / Re: Merit spamming [report] on: December 01, 2023, 11:16:20 PM
Good eye, OP but I don't know if you noticed but mods, DT members, and others don't really take any action against merit abusers and haven't for a while now.  Theymos basically doesn't want much tagging for that sort of thing, even though members are still free to do so.

Why oh why did that troll come back?
Probably got bored and came back to troll for some laughs.

740  Economy / Reputation / Re: After Sinbad, which mixer is Next To Be Shutdown? on: December 01, 2023, 05:25:31 AM
As owlcatz already said, all of them. I think he is correct and eventually all get seized at some point. Then poker player has a good point as well mentioning legislation to put laws in place against them.

Whenever a government is not getting what they think is their fair share, the service, website, company, or whatever will always be deemed illegal. Why do they think they're entitled to a piece of every dollar we have? Basically, cause we are dumb enough to let it happen. American revolution comes to mind. I though they revolted due to all the taxation, but nope more and more taxes. I could go on and on here, but it's pointless.

Another concern, will they ever pursue legal action (criminal or civil) against those who promote the mixers? I've seen stories about ronaldo promoting Banince, Tom Brady and FTX, Shaq and FTX, and so on. Gotta be a reason theymos isn't allowing staff to join the mixers as well. Think about it folks. While everyone using a mixer isn't breaking the law, a good number are.
