you didnt answer my questions. Are these "normal levels"for mining ? this is more a question for someone whos been around for 3-4 years, so you can take your 2 cents back I see most of your Post, you very regret the price of GPU and revenue from the mining. and make you wonder who is to blame for the current situation. come on stop complaining, dude. I started mining from a $ 30 ETH price using R9 290, up to now using the 8 GB RX and NVIDIA series and still a profit.

I am not able to mine etherium classic anymore with my 1060 3gb. Says cannot allocate big DAG epoch. I use combination of 2x 1060 3GB and 5x 1050Ti. The error shows only for 1060 3GB anyone facing the problem. I can mine etherium though.
you can read OP yesterday have the same Problem "can't allocate big DAG epoch".1060 6 GB 7 month ago mining in etherium has 19 MH/s higher is 21 MH/s moreover now and using 1060 3GB. better jump mining zcash.

15 Ghs wow, so you and your partner have almost 500 cards, right? You want to do solo mining, here is what you need to do. First of all, you need to find GPU based coins, you can use Whattomine, Coinwarz etc, or coins announcements thread in this forum. After that, read carefully a coins technical info. You will find a few info such as Block Time, Block Reward, Network Hashrate, Coins Price, etc. That all a variable that you need to calculate.
Network Hashrate, You need to know how much global Hashrate for this coin, let's assume that this coin algorithm is Ethash with global Hashrate 50 Ghs, so you have a good chance on this coin since u have 23% from global Hasrate (15 / (50+15) * 100). But don't forget to check a Block Time ( time between block ), and make sure to check block explorer, it will show you how accurate of a Block Time. And also check coin price, so you can calculate every block that you solve.
You can solo mining to QT-Wallet or Build your own mining pool
Compare your calculated result with what you get if you do pooled mining.

I have run a few of my rig almost 3 years, and the other rig 1-2 years. And also I have a new gen about 3-6 month running. The most important thing to keep your rig always in a good condition is giving them enough electrical power and regular maintenance also.
Electrical Power Always calculate your card on the max power they need (TDP), more space safer. Also, we need to know about power, how much PCIe power can produce by PCIe 1x/16x on the motherboard. How much power can produce by MOLEX, SATA, PCIe 6, PCIe 6+2..etc.
Regular Maintenance It is something to do in 2 weeks or a month. Check every cable rig, clean your rig from dust, if needed replace the thermal paste (can do it in a more long time period).
FYI: Am using R9 and RX series
|
|
|
-First- Fact: PCIe 16x on Motherboard will supply max 75 Watts, PCIe 1x on Mobo will supply max 55 Watts. Molex connector will supply max 75 Watts to riser and SATA connector will supply max 55 Watts.
So, if we are using Molex connector, will be same as put it directly to 16x PCIe on the Mobo. But am not really sure if the USB cable that connects a PCIe to Mobo using PCIe 1x in front and USB at the end, would supply 25 Watts or not. If yes, 50-55 Watts from SATA + 25 Watts from PCIe 1x to USB would be enough to supplying power to the riser.
-2nd- That's also the method I always use, safer. The setup process will load faster when we put our cards one by one.

First of all, you didn't inform us which driver versions you are using. Which PBE you are using for modified your bios? I suggest using PBE 1.6.2 instead 1.6.6, PBE 1.6.2 will copy strap 1750 to above (more stable based on my experience). And don't forget to use Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for Blockchain Compute driver. And the last thing, patch your driver signature, so the system will recognize your modified bios.

you are wrong at all. My 1060-3 are mining Ether Classic as well now
Wow. The Big Thank's for the corrections. But do you know the meaning of this sentence: but isn't sure because of Dag file ETH currently 2.3 GB maybe the real data more from 2.3 or approaching 3 GB. and GPU memory, not enough for save dag file. because GPU needs to load it before start mining.
|
|
|
CUDA error - cannot allocate big buffer for DAG. Check readme.txt for possible solutions. Setting DAG epoch #177
but isn't sure because of Dag file ETH currently 2.3 GB maybe the real data more from 2.3 or approaching 3 GB. and GPU memory, not enough for save dag file. because GPU needs to load it before start mining. looks pretty clear, dag file size might be too large for the gpu. I mean what did you expect you are using 3gb gpus
I should consider upgarde them to 6gb version is the last option then. if indeed this happens because 3GB Memory is not due to other problems. certainly sadly. If you want still 1060 3 GB, jump mining to Equihash algorithm such Zcash.

I wonder if invest on 4GB RX570 is not logical anymore? Some friends says 4GB will be useless very soon for ETH.
Is that correct?
Everyone has different opinions on this Topic. you must know the basically why some member suggest you don't buy 4GB and some member suggests 4GB no problem. The knowledge Basic about Ethash Algorithm such Ethereum (ETH coin). Current Dag size (file) ETH 2,3 GB. What the related Dag size with memory the GPU?. DAG file will save in your GPU memory. If Dag File more size than your GPU memory than your GPU become useless ( Note: if the Ethash algorithm such ETH coin). So that's the reason some member suggest you don't buy 4GB. But some member suggest buying 8 GB with the goal if the next year or 2020/2021 Dag Size ETH more 3 or 4 GB, that's GPU still usable mining ETH. Although ETH prediction 2020/2021 to be POS. Note: it doesn't mean that the GPU is no longer useful for all coins just for the ETH coin if the Dag file reaches over 4 GB. For other coins outside Ethash Algo can still be used to mine.

I am not looking to spend a ton, but I am looking to see what my options are out there. I have looked around and done some research, however, some of it is confusing.
bad choice if you thinking like that's 1. How much your money provide to build a Rig? 2. How many GPU will you use mining? I assume you don't have a problem with providing your money. you can choose these 1. Motherboards:
-Asrock H110 Pro BTC+ (13 GPU) -Asus Prime Z270-A (default 7 GPU) -Asus Rog STRIX Z270E Gaming (default 7 GPU) -Asrock H81 PRO BTC R2.0 LGA 1150 (6 GPU). 2. Processor enough Celeron if Intel Chipset. 3. RAM 4 GB or more 4GB better. 4. SSD 120 GB or more, choose Samsung. 5. PSU adjust how many GPUs. get PSU has 80+ such EVGA, Corsair. 6. USB Riser 7. GPU AMD cards (RX 580 8 GB, Vega). NVIDIA cards (1070,1070ti,1080ti). sorry dude, maybe I can't give in detail how to build RIG from zero to hero. you must OP specific problem.
|
|
|
If you have another PSU that has more than 750 W you can try it. I think your Rig lack power because I calculated your Rig have only remaining power 270 W.
|
|
|
Two rigs, same rack. Both rigs will crash at the exact same time. Just crashed a few minutes ago after 74+ hours.. Any idea what might cause that? Nothing in the miner logs.. Power surge? Static buildup? How are we suppose to assist you without any information about your rig?
yes, you must show the specific Information. and show your spec RIG such : 1. how many GPUs are there in your RIG. 2. how many PSU wattages you use. if you want, you write more detail informations such Motherboard series, Processor, RAM and USB RIser. because of the problem on the RIG many lots. not just on the GPU alone but trivial things like installing Riser from and to the GPU when less than perfect is also a problem.

Whoever is going to start mining at the moment, their thinking the prices GPU very expensive and the which popular coins to mining increases difficulty. this is clearly their consideration when they calculate earnings per card. the price of the GPU they bought didn't match the income they would get. GPU prices are rising and their revenues are few.
and..for old miners have the problem when adding new GPUs because their know priced the GPU before.for the old miners, this's situation still profit or slightly less profit because their mining using the GPUs 1 year ago.
|
|
|
Anyways now running Gtx 1070 Gtx 1070 Gtx 1080 Think i can add another gtx 1070 to my new 1000 watt supplier? Should be up to 4 cards when mining right? I have everything set to Gen 2, so that it uses old "technique"
1070 has TDP 150w x 3 =450W, 1080 has 180 W totally 630 W. remaining power 370 W. The power consumption for Processor, RAM, and Riser has not been calculated. I think the rest is too risky that will lack power. indeed when undervolted done sufficient if using 1000W. But its safer to wear 1200W or more. When the other part lacks power consumption. one of its causes RIG restart itself, Crash, hashrate of GPU slightly reduced.

Is GTX 950 enough to mine btc/eth/xmr etc? I dont need big profit, my PC is on most of the times doing nothing so I thought I use it to mine some coins instead of doing nothing.
Can't those coins mining from your GPU.why? 1.Bitcoin network hash rate, atm is 20,445,149 TH/s. 2.Ethereum Network Hashrate 2.3 GB 223,750 GH/s and current Dag Size 2,3 GB I tried to mine xmr once but it said my gpu needs to be 3 GB (GTX950 is 2GB).
because in the mining process, memory plays an important role in cache storage.

Miners price are not reduced at all , but what is very unusual, A3 / L3++ / T9+ are still available for sale and not sold out within a few minutes ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) (as of today February 1 - 2018 )..... Since people have a lot of considerations for using ASIC in current situations. They will end in a warehouse LoL Yeah, from a middle of 2017 till now is the most massive demand for GPUs, it made the massive rising prices, and people buy it! Damn So let's enjoy a few interesting weeks in front. (Miners)
