721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] a new coin based on Litecoin - CHNCoin on: May 15, 2013, 07:15:43 AM
Does anyone here know when the next difficulty retarget will happen?

Well I took a look at at a pool, it seemed to be doing 33 out of 120 blocks lets call it a quarter of the blocks, each block taking 2 hours and 6 minutes, lets call it 2  hours... 2 divided by 4 equals 1/2 an hour..

Now the block chain retargets every 5040 blocks, and its at 57724 so the next retarget is at 60480, or in 2756 blocks..

2576 X .5 = 1328 hours, /24 gives us 57.41 days.

1000 m/h gives us about 42 coins X 0.00096 BTC (current exchange rate) gives us .04032 BTC per day so I doubt the hashrate will increase, in fact it may decrease giving us longer per block so I guess the answer is..

At least 2 months possibly 4 months or longer...

No wonder the network stats are no longer made public... Shocked

Most of the names suck... Even "Bitcoin"..

I know that I'll catch flak for saying it, it might be fine amongst geeks and cryptocurrency enthusists, but your average person on the street just doesn't like the sound of the name.. It doesn't sound official, It doesn't sound like something you'd discuss on wall street, It doesn't sound right in a bank ( I know I had a conversation with my bank manager about cryptocurrencies ) and it sure as hell doesn't sound right coming out of the presenter on the finnacial news show... and wide spread adoption is the aim after all...

So why not call it something that does sound a little more professional... like "Global Trading Credit(s)"

I like the part where the global trading credits were used to pump and dump trillions in mortgages, no one went to jail, and even the foreclosure process is kicking the wrong people out of their houses, and even the govt gave up trying to clean up the mess.

Yes banks are entirely trustable.

Like that time in Cyprus when they froze all the accounts then took a %age of everyone's savings to save the banks and the economy from their mismanagement...

examples abound.

I like how when I fill up my car, shop for groceries or pay my utilities I keep getting asked "can we have that in bitcoin"....... I mean seriously just get rid of MTGOX and watch the value soar...

725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] CryptoSwitcher - Automatically mine the best coin. on: May 08, 2013, 08:48:15 AM
Could anyone help me with setting it up?
I can't find the dependencies and where to put them

If you do the first two steps (install python 2.7.4 and set the path), then, to install a module, you open up the command line, change to the modules directory ( the directory with the file setup.py in it), and type "python setup.py install"

Note in my last post I gave links to the modules that worked for me. The Numpy modules are executables.. you just run them. They are for Intel and Amd chips and 32 and 64 bit windows, so be sure to get the right one

Anyone got this working on Win7 yet?

I would like to know this too, and if there is anything that could be done to make it easier to run on Windows, I'd look into it.

Yes It's working on my Win 7 64 setup.. Grin Heres all the hassles I had.. Roll Eyes

1 You can't use python 3.3.. Use Python 2.7.4 (has urllib 2 ) http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.7.4/

2 Remember to set your path to python 27 (Instructions : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddpYVA-7wq4 )

3 You need to install beautifulsoup4-4.0.0b10 (later version didn't work)
http://www.crummy.com/software/BeautifulSoup/bs4/download/4.0/

4 You need to install simplejson https://github.com/simplejson/simplejson

5 You need to install Numpy from the appropiate executable found only here : http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/

6 You need to download pyvircurex-master.zip and btce-api-master.zip and drop their files into the appropiate folders in the cryptoswitcher directory.

Then, if you have changed the cryptoswitcher.config to read batchfiles like the supplied bitcoin.bat, it works like a dream.

Don't know about bitbar.. If you mine for only 6 hours per day, you probably don't want a PPLNS pool, and this one does have a 20 coin min payout..
728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: feathercoin pool(100M+) on: May 02, 2013, 08:32:29 PM
Good for you Torzy, I hope that continues... Wink

Excellent JHD, that was a lot of coins...

Kuusj98, there has been a hacker in the database.. I wouldn't touch this pool with my worst enemy's rig.. If it was sorted, maybe.. but at the moment it's a risk..
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: feathercoin pool(100M+) on: May 02, 2013, 08:22:22 PM
Yeap well I'm not using this pool again.  Angry I like checking that everything is running smooth every so often, and getting a good nights sleep... It's 6.20 am and I haven't had a wink.. Reminds me of what a veteran mate of mine used to say.. Nothing wrong with boring,Boy...Too much excitment will kill you  Shocked

And I have all but 5 unconfirmed coins !!!! I'll accept them as a loss.. sometimes you just gotta say "bugger this for a game of soldiers"...  Tongue

WOOOHOOOO !!!!!!!!!! Just got paid out... Checking to see if it arrives in my wallet... Grin
732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: feathercoin pool(100M+) on: May 02, 2013, 07:45:55 PM
I set it to 20000 because it s not my wallet address but it is an hacker address and idont want auto payout to this fucking hacker.

Smart Move  Wink

Shortly after I mentioned here the pool that I switched to, the pool's web interface has come under what looks like a DDoS attack.

I do wonder if some people may be interested in discrediting certain pools or feathercoin altogether.

I've seen all litecoin pools DDos'ed at the same time... Single points of failure in a decentralised system..
If you've got lot's of hashing power you can solo while the pools are down.. It's all about the money..
733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: feathercoin pool(100M+) on: May 02, 2013, 07:39:59 PM
admin doesnt reply to pm.  PURE SCAMMM

I'm guessing right about now he's busy at his keyboard without the time to clean out his underpants...
I notice that the autopayout on your account is set to 20000.. You might get your coins yet...

What is the reason that people keep joining this pool? I see that the hash rate went from 200 to 400 over 24 hours.

Last time I checked FTC was 0.12 LTC , with a high of 0.15.. It's a gold rush.. If they poked their heads in here they'd soon find another pool...
734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: feathercoin pool(100M+) on: May 02, 2013, 07:29:14 PM
The pool has been compromised, the hackers are locking in their addresses...
My address is locked in, and I've changed passwords, but theres no garauntees..

Right now I'm on feathercoin.is-a-geek.com, 950Mh, PPLNS, 0% fee running cgminer using stratum
735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: feathercoin pool(100M+) on: May 02, 2013, 07:08:53 PM
My account is gone.. Wiped off the system.. Looks like I just lost 200+ FTC.. Angry

If you are sure that it is a scam, you may also want to report this entire threat to the maintainer of the board, so that they will investigate what is going on.

I don't think it's a scam, but I don't think the admin has control.. He already made a statement not long ago that he was having problems with hackers.. looks like he still is... I will hope I get my coins confirmed and paid, at worst I've lost 24 hours mining.. My rigs are already pointed at another pool..

I just checked to see what was happening because I didn't get a payout and somebody had changed my payout address to a different address I've changed it back and locked it but..... Until this pool is secure , I won't continue to mine here.  Shocked
739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: feathercoin pool(100M+) on: May 02, 2013, 10:31:42 AM
Where do you see 20 coins triggers it?

The manual payout feature doesn't work... This means that if somebody gets into your account, they can't take your coins immediately, all they can do is change your payment address, which if you are prudent, you check beforehand. All you can do is wait for the auto payout, which requires a minmium of 20 coins to trigger.

Homepage, before you login..

Each miner has the right to withdraw your winnings every time you want, do not believe that it should be so?

I have LTC on Pool-x, but it's below the mininum for manual or auto payout.. I'll have to mine more to get at it.. Probably a little on Ozcoin too.. Litecoinpool.org does 2 daily auto payouts, and a manual payout once every day. It's pretty standard to have restrictions or fees on payouts... from memory MC Eclipse took a percentage of BTC manual payouts. There might be a pool out there that allows unrestricted payouts, but as far as I'm aware, if you want immediate payment, you mine solo..

When can i get my coins please

Look I'm just another miner, but if you have more than 20 coins, and your auto payout set properly, you should be automatically paid. Mine tend to arrive around 14.00.00 GMT daily..

I'm just wondering if all this fuss has to do with the upswing in Feathercoin price.

I wouldn't freak out. I didn't freak out when BTC was 5$ or 15$ ... I did freak out when it was over 200$ and thats when I sold, but that was eight months after I started mining. Geeze, there was guys that didn't hoard their coin and didn't they cry .. "that game cost me 20 BTC thats 5000$ I lost".. Anyhoo...
