721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Classic mining help on: March 16, 2018, 12:42:33 PM
if stability is your priority don't push your cards too much, in another word use stock bios with a little bit OC. the key to stability is keep your cards still cool also give them enough a power.

Wrong, modded RX cards can keep stability more than stock ones and give you higher Hash, My modded cards are way cooler than stocks bios.

I believed the Average Hashrate has been computed by the value of your Effective Hashrate, while the Effective HR is computed thru your valid shares which is dependent on the current difficulty.

This might mean that your reported Hashrate could not guarantee an equal/slight difference value

Hi All,

Just found this thread here, im running windows 7 and the official blockchain driver does not seem to work for me. I followed all steps and the screen goes blank once i install the official driver! Sad

In this scenario, is it worth using these drivers? My cards still have the stock BIOS loaded on them.

Thanks!

yep, been using it for a while with my Win7 rigs Rx580/480's , they rock!

btw what's your GPU's

I did help. I gave the right answer: --dev
You decided to play smartypants by inserting lols and smiley faces  (failed apparently)

O yeah, you did help did it got worked? LOL Grin

It's not -d; it's --dev
Just read the first page of the thread. Is it so hard?

LOL, are you sure you could find the GPU indexes in the first page? Cheesy

@romansteel, try these commands in your .bat file

--cuda_devices 0

I'm pretty sure. Are you blind or just mentally impaired?

i'm shocked how many clueless people are willing to "help": one proposed to use -d (which is claymore's option), the other one proposed --cuda_devices 0 (which is EWBF's option)...

Hello,

Have been active in crypto for about 6 months now and thinking about buying my first mining rig.
Thinking about mining etherium or just let it run on nicehash. (Approx. 300 mh/s system)

What do you think is this profitable or is it better to just invest the money in crypto?

Power is quite expensive here about 0,26 usd per KWH
Is it also true a system will last about 2/3 years?

Know about the calculation sites but not sure if these are accurate.

Thanks  Smiley

What do you do for the past 6 months? Trading? if you're good at it, better stick to it for the meantime, however if you know what you're doing for mining like beating challenges on seeking competitive cheaper mining gear, considering difficulties, coin price decreases and future mineable coin capabilities of your gear, then join the club.

And yes, system will last for about 2-3 yrs, but no one knows if its still profitable for the next days, months or year which is true by now based on your power rate per kwh.

Hi,

Since cards are running on 70C should I adjust fans to be not on AUTO? I am afraid if fans are not on auto they will short lifetime?

Any suggestions or 70C should be considered a safety temp?

Regards,
Hristo
Are you on an Nvidia 10xx card? 70c is fine in theory, but personally I'm trying to keep them at 60-65C.

Is there a code to restrict mining use to one GPU instead of both if I have 2 x GPUs?

Also, running 2 x 1080 GPUs and getting about 480-500 sol/s per GPU, is that right?
Regarding the GPU restriction, yes there is, I think it's -d. For example "-d 0" will run the miner on the 1st GPU. "-d 12" will run on the 2nd and 3rd GPU.

I tried using -d 1 to use my 2nd GPU, it didn't seem to work though, the miner wouldn't get up and running at all :/

It's not -d; it's --dev

732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.4 (Windows/Linux) on: March 14, 2018, 02:13:58 AM
Yesterday I tried to undervolt my rig and now I am having some major issues, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rig is 6x RX 580s (all with mixed Hynix and Samsung memory) on Asus Mining Expert board running blockchain driver with Polaris one click bios.

The usual OC and voltage setting I use in the config file for Claymore's miner are

-cclock 1150
-cvddc 900
-mvddc 950
-mclock 2200

My usual power usage at the wall is 1070W, HWinfo usually shows gpu chip power of  97w per card.

The settings I tried were

-cclock 1150
-cvddc 875
-mvddc 925
-mclock 2150

After starting Claymore v 11.4 I went back into the config file and edited the settings back to my usual oc/voltages so that if it crashed it would apply them on reboot.

After about an hour the rig crashed (CCL error gpu 5)it rebooted and it restarted claymore with my usual settings. I noticed that the power usage at the wall had jumped up to around 1285w and HWinfo was showing gpu power usage of around 120w per card. HWinfo and GPU-z were showing that my GPU's were running at the usual clocks/voltages 1150/2200 900/950 so I stopped Claymore and manually restarted my rig.

When it restarted the MB done the initial single beep before posting then tripple beeped and wouldn't post. I powered off the rig, 'flicked the PSU switches off and let it still for a few mins. Powered the rig back up again and same result (single beep, tripple beep not posting).
I powered off the rig unplugged GPU 0 and GPU 1 at the MB, swapped them over (gpu 0 to pcie 1x slot gpu 1 to pcie 16x slot) and the rig posted then booted to Windows went into device manager and it was only picking up 5 of the 6 GPU's (not the GPU that was previously GPU 0).

I shut down the rig, unplugged the GPU at the riser and PSU and rebooted (posted and booted to Windows with no issues), I started Claymore (started mining fine) and when I checked HWinfo/GPU-z same result previous clock/voltage settings with higher gpu power usage (120w per card) than usual.

I stopped Claymore, shut down the rig, unplugged the rig at the wall, put GPU's in there original positions, moved the bios switch on the GPU that wasn't being picked up to 'silent mode' and booted the rig up.

It posted and booted into Windows but was running really odd, mouse movements, opening windows etc were slow and sluggish. I then moved the bios switch back to original position then used ATIflash via cmd to 're flash all cards back to original bios, uninstalled driver via DDU and rebooted the rig. Reinstalled blockchain driver, rebooted and mouse movements, opening windows etc were still slow and sluggish.

Used ATIflash via cmd and flashed all GPU'S with bios I had them running on previously (one click Polaris Bios Editor). Applied atikmdag-patcher and rebooted, things were still running slow and sluggish, ran claymore and it started mining with all 6 GPU'S at original config setting, getting the same Mh/s but all the GPU's are still using more power than they usually would (120w per GPU and whole rig 1285w at wall).

Apologies for how long this is but I wanted to give a good idea on what is happening, what I have tried already etc.

Thoughts? Anyone had a similar issue that the have managed to resolve? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me.

Ps

How do I put this into one of the 'box thing's' so it doesn't take up so much room on the page?

try to lower your Clocks

This is what I've found too with dual mining.  11.3 or 11.4 you have to slow down the cards to get stability but still 4% incorrect shares.

With 11.0 I get slightly slower speeds vs the same card speed but I can turn them up more with stability. I dont have any incorrect shares so far a couple hours in.  The effective speed is much higher.

The incorrect shares is due to the speed boost claymore did, claymore increased memory intensity for the boost and now to make it right people need to reduce their memory clock speed.

Confirming this, I was force to lower my clocks as I've seen many incorrect shares
733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are you mining for profit today or the future? on: March 13, 2018, 03:02:47 PM
My opinion is that it also depends on the power of your mining rig.

If you have a large rig that will require a lot of electricity & maintenance costs then maybe the best approach would be to mine profitable & established coins and then sell them (but still keep a few in case the price skyrockets).
The reason why I would chose established coins is that you have a lower risk of them going bust (or devaluating fast) before you sell.

If you have a low range mining rig I would mine and hold in case the price jumps, thus speculating on the price. Of course, you need to do your own research on the coins you select to mine, otherwise you will end up with nothing.

this is basically applied and a wise move for me, set aside rigs to cover your costs, Electricity, internet and rentals then the other rigs for coins long term HODL. either way you wont regret when Alts goes to moon again.

Guys, dont flame me here, but I just added some AMD cards to me Nidvia rigs. Is it possible to use claymore for just the AMD cards and another miner for nidvia?

Yes, check GPU indexes numbers on AMD and use -di option, been using this on one of my rigs, Claymore on AMD, EWBF on nvidia's

Can I PM you?

Hi I am new here and I have problem.
I recently tested Claymore: Version 11.1 and new one 11.3. In the first 12-14 hours it shows perfect performance and stability. After that, it extinguished and immediately after each attempt to start, it extinguishes.
After starting again bat. file it just close and that version can not start again.

http://prntscr.com/ipo245
 I have 6x Sapphire rx 580 Nitro+
On Versio 11.0 work stabile.

I have the same problem, someone can help us

If you are using windows 10, check if it has been updated, and probably windows defender or firewall blocked it. disable those two
735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: burnt pci riser (2 times!) on: March 12, 2018, 04:08:12 PM
Hi all,

my rig stopped last night because apparently a riser burnt through. It wasn't one of those cases where people connect to the pci port it the other way around and short circuit: it has been running for weeks without problems. Last reboot was a couple of days ago when I updated Claymore.

I connected a new riser and immediately the riser gave a spark and burnt through as well. Fortunately I still had the powerplug in my hands and could disconnect it immediately.
Picture of what both risers look like:

There is no visible damage to the GPU, to the little thingie going into the PCI slot of the MB or to the slot of the MB.

I disconnected the riser and gpu and fortunately the rig could reboot and is still working with the other 4 GPUs.

Is my GPU fried? I'm afraid to test it directly on the MB, because that might fry my MB as well...
PSU: Be Quiet Power Zone 1000W

Any tips?

Thanks.

wait, did I read it correctly? PCI slot?

surely will damage it.

dont worry to test your GPU, check it thoroughly for some burnt traces, if none, then try it out, with separate PSU, it will not damage your mb, most probably it wont detect it or luckily would work normally.

Hello,

I download " Claymore CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7 Beta - POOL Catalyst 15.12 " and try to mice electroneum but i receive " UNKNOW OPTION " error.
Please see thr error picture that i attached.
pic link : http://s9.picofile.com/file/8321258434/Unt03itled.png
Can any one please help me to solve this?
Thanks,

Can you post the configuration you use, exactly as it is in your *.bat file, this might help us figure out what's going wrong.
Couple of things to try.

(1) Change the "-xpool" to "-o".
(2) Try another pool as test just to see what happens.

Here is the configuration I use to mine Electroneum with Claymore 9.7 and it work OK.

Code:
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 1
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

NsGpuCNMiner -o stratum+tcp://pool.electroneum.space:3333 -u ADDRESS -p x -nofee 1 -allpools 1 -ftime 10 -mport 0 -r 1

my configuration is

Code:
-xpool stratum+tcp://nl.etnpool.net:3333
-xwal ADDRESS
-xpsw x

-allpools 1
-tt 75

I used your configuration but it do not work for me.
When i set your configuration the following error :

http://s9.picofile.com/file/8321547276/Untitled10.png

My graphic card is " AMD Radeon R7 Series "

Dude this is correct, You Should Change the Adress with your ETN wallet address, to run this create a .bat file name it then copy and paste the code below, of course, I repeat Change the word 'Address' Cheesy

Code:
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 1
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

NsGpuCNMiner -o stratum+tcp://pool.electroneum.space:3333 -u ADDRESS -p x -nofee 1 -allpools 1 -ftime 10 -mport 0 -r 1

740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: $240 for CPU/MB/RAM/PSU for every 8 GPUs. Good or bad? on: March 12, 2018, 03:08:07 PM
I right now have a setup which gets me my CPU, MB, Ram and PSU all for $240, all enough to power 8 GPUs

Is this a good rate for the supporting system?

Price wise Yes, however the question really is How reliable your cheap hardware? did you purchase those cheap brands or chinese products unbranded or cloned ones. mining is a 24/7 workhorse, the most pressured hardware will be your PSU and GPU's. so better choose a decent one for this two.
