... still waiting  Huh Huh

Just answer this: How's that strategy working out for you so far?
722  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 26, 2013, 01:44:27 PM
In Bitstamp currently, BTC300 of bids over $80.

Same amount of asks only in $87!

This gives a 1-2 hour target price of $83.50.

With this kind of reasoning I drove the price up to $80 when finishing my purchases 4 hours ago, even though Mt.Gox was sluggish at $77.

(Would you consider it off-topic as this is a GOX thread..?)

This is the offical off-topic thread, so you posted in the right place.

Somebody is quickly acting on my advice (shame I cannot post a wall pic..)!

Bitstamp makes all these manipulative sell-offs on Gox look a bit silly. Why sell hundreds or thousands of BTC at $78 when people will demonstrably pay $82?

"Circle Jerk Your Way to Early Retirement"
"Circlejerk Your Way To Early Retirement, Featuring Zangelbert Bingledack". Has a certain ring to it. You should approach the TV networks.

Gone again!

3k to $80!
725  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 26, 2013, 12:25:15 PM
The wall at 80 seemed to disappear, but it's back again?? A jittery wall perhaps, with the price running up like that?
726  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 26, 2013, 12:19:32 PM
All-time high!

Regarding the 20k wall, if they are trying to improve the market, I'm not sure of its efficacy. Do institutional investors really want to see rampant manipulation?

727  Economy / Speculation / Re: What kind of message does this chart give you? on: March 26, 2013, 12:11:46 PM
Adoption is just beginning :-)

Have you guys noticed the EUR price at Bitcoin24? It's at 64 right now compared to 60 at MtGox and has been to 69.6 which translates to $89. One could easily make a handsome profit by doing some arbitrage.

How long does it take to withdraw Euros from Bitcoin24 then get the deposit to clear at MtGox? What can happen to the Bitcoin price in that time?

For short-term arbitrage, you just need to keep funding the accounts with BTC and $ then flip. You don't have to move the $ around at short notice.

Some of you guys did not check the date of the OP?

Sorry... I just saw it in the forum and replied. Either I was on autopilot, or someone deleted the post above mine...
730  Economy / Speculation / Re: 80 and it is not mtgox on: March 26, 2013, 10:26:44 AM
I found BitStamp often rises higher than Gox. BTC-China too is usually higher.

So the Gox walls don't mean all that much.
731  Economy / Speculation / Re: Manipulation by a group ruled by 'Xenau'? on: March 26, 2013, 06:36:23 AM

What's that supposed to show? Date/time headers are formatted for display by the mail client, not the sender...

Anyway, the obvious solution here is simply to not play their games. In fact next time they dump, we should just buy them all up.
732  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull trap? on: March 26, 2013, 06:25:50 AM
It's a(nother) bear trap. We keep hitting ATHs.
733  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Interest Check - Scammer Book on: March 26, 2013, 06:15:39 AM
This happens a lot in China. They call it the "human flesh search engine". Very scary, because it works very well. Unfortunately it permanently damages people's lives.

The real answer here is escrow with multisig. What you are suggesting could cause very negative publicity for the bitcoin community. Interesting idea, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Wait! Wait! This time it's different... right?

Bitcoin is immune from human nature  Roll Eyes

Haha -- It's not different at all. We all see the hourly/daily crazy fluctuations in price.

Doesn't mean this is the top of a bubble though...

Perhaps you didn't get my sarcasm...

No way, really? I just add 'haha' to the beginning of everything I write Tongue

Thank you for taking the time and effort to write such a thoughtful post, and thank you for everything you have done for Bitcoin.

If the Bitcoin community continues to have involvement from people like you, the future can only be positive.
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin does not solve any problems! on: March 26, 2013, 03:03:10 AM
The problems are humans, but Bitcoin is great and unique tool to be used by our side.

But if Bitcoin hits the mainstream, mothers and wives will find BTC to complicated to handle. If it does hit the main stream expect the masses to be trading with Satoshis, even I don't get that one.

First of all, sexism isn't sexy dude.

Secondly, it's a problem that will solve itself. As adoption increases, there will be money to be made from building a better interface. As these interfaces get better, adoption will further increase.

It's happened so man times before, with almost every gadget, appliance and service we use today.
738  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bubble? Growth? One goat's thoughts on: March 26, 2013, 02:58:00 AM
Absolute minimum floor right now is $50. Even self-confessed bears will be buying at $50 or above. Remember that BTC is a currency, not a stock.

I think most would be happy to just hold on to $50 too. Those who don't -- no big loss.

739  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cypriot banks open in Tuesday (not in 4 hours).. Who wants to make a prediction? on: March 26, 2013, 02:56:07 AM
How many people in Cyprus(from ~800,000), you believe they know bitcoin??

Again, why are people in this thread being so simplistic? It's the same kind of argument that spoils the debate on global warming, or GM crops.

Yes, the Cyprus situation will have a net positive effect on Bitcoin.

But no, that doesn't mean that it is a significant direct effect from people in Cyprus withdrawing their cash and putting it into BTC.

BTC will benefit indirectly from a slight loss in confidence in the Euro. I expect this will initially come from existing BTC adopters, but their enthusiasm will bring on board new adopters too.

So -- it's positive for Bitcoin, but the world isn't as small and simple as people are thinking.

740  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC/USD: Ready for "The Running of the Bears"? on: March 26, 2013, 02:49:38 AM
The trouble with technical analysis is that it can only partially work, as a hint to try to understand market sentiment.

If it consistently worked reliably, the markets wouldn't move at all, as everybody would know the tops and the bottoms. It's the same as the uncertainty principle, schrodinger's cat, et al... if it worked, it would have the result of not working.

As such, TA can only give some traders a slight edge -- not much more. And this is in a highly liquid stock market. So, dial down the TA love will you?

The key here is two-fold: (a) you have to get your fundamental analysis right BEFORE you try TA; and (b) you have to recognise what state the market is in.

For (a), I chimed in my thoughts earlier in the thread. I think you really missed the boat on doing a proper analysis of the fundamentals. This makes the TA worthless.

For (b), BTC is a currency, and as such will have a well-defined non-zero floor unless it fails. This floor could be well above where we are now. Yes, the market will be subject to waves of investor confidence, just like any other market. But you have to identify whether this market is still in the bootstrapping phase, or if it is in a steady state. I think you missed the boat here too. You used increasing money flow as indicators to bet against the price. Doesn't make sense for a currency. Do normal people "over-extend" themselves in fiat? Doesn't make a lot of sense. Even if you speculate in, say, Yen -- you're not going to end up with a worthless pile at the end, like you would do with stocks.

Yes, adoption is broadening but I don't construe that as "getting scary" -- the newcomers look to me like Redditors and other reasonably tech-savvy people. There is still a huge sector of the population who we have yet to bring on board. The broader base and the speculation itself really helps drive adoption of BTC as a currency; I see it as a positive feedback loop.
