721  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the right age for financial stability? on: November 16, 2023, 07:20:25 PM
Well, I hope this doesn't sound like a joke to you guys or some sort of cracked-up thread, but yeah, I mean to hear the opinion of others.

Some people, during their youthful years, live a very lavish lifestyle with the money that they are supposed to put to good use, knowing that one day they will grow old. Some people only think that it's when they are growing old, like at the age of 30 and above, that's when they must start to invest or save to invest.

Some people think that they can live a lavish lifestyle as long as they are still 20 years old, and maybe when they get to 25 years old, that's when they can start to invest for their future.

I quite think that there is a particular age at which one is supposed to have been living a comfortable lifestyle financially. That doesn't mean that someone who doesn't meet that age lives a lavish lifestyle. There's a parable that says, "All fingers are not equal." So, we understand that not everyone is able to meet up at the same time.

Although some people can experience financial breakthrough at different ages in life, some do so at 25, 30, 35, 40, and 50, respectively.

But in my opinion, I think that one is not still supposed to be in financial crisis at age 30–35. I mean, at age 30, one should be in a financial state where they can fend for themselves and their family if the person is married. The person is supposed to have had at least one or two financial sources that they can always see as reliable sources of income.

It's always wise and profitable to start saving and investing at a young age, like 18 years old.

I just got done giving a "retirement readiness" presenation to one of the US 50 States Deferred Comp plan.  So as a financial advisor, this is the type of quesiton/topic that comes up most often..

What I can say is this, save as much as you can as early as you can, life comes quick and it will pay off tremendously!

Run a monthly budget if you're not doing so already.  It's very important to keep a budget of all your monthly expenses.  As long as you dig deep in to your monthly expenses, you can easily come up with a very accurate number of how much you should be saving for your retirement (after expenses, both fixed and variable are taken care of).

Always increase your contributions to your retirement plans as often as possible!!
722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Disadvantage of bitcoin on: November 16, 2023, 07:16:07 PM
Was going through some post on the forum when I came across this writing in a free signature space which writes “make sure you back up your wallet regularly! Unlike a bank account, nobody can help you if you loss access to your BTC”.

Now a lot of people would imagine the possibilities of losing access to one’s bitcoin in their wallet and there have been several cases of where people loss access to their wallets with massive holdings in it and that is why it is always advisable to back up wallet address regularly.
I’m not trying to down in BTC but at times we should call a spade a spade and accept the fact that aside decentralization that bitcoin offers and its volatility that we all profit from, a lot of people would still want to stick to the traditional banks because it also seems to be one of the safest place to keep our money.

Now my question is, do you think losing all of one’s coins simply because they didn’t have access to their wallet or key is already enough disadvantage for bitcoin against the local banks ?

I think in a way you're comparing a bit of an apples and oranges situation.  First off, it's not necessarily true that once you send money out it's lost..there are ways of recovering wallets ( in rare circumstances ).

However "with great power, comes great responsibility".  Meaning you've got a decentralized asset that has many advantages over traditional fiat money /banks...but you're of course having to take on a bit more responsibility which I don't think is necessarily a bad thing.  Teaches people the value of being safe/secure...properly backing things up etc.

At least Arthur finally gave him a sizable workload, I think he had like 22 carries.  Of course that has to do with the fact that they were up or close to being up the whole game.

Quote
People will do everything but admit it was a mistake to waste an early round pick on a rookie RB that went to a team that uses a committee.

I thought this was hilarious!

Seriously doing deep dives on peoples family because your guy didn't get enough carries is completely over the top!

I don't think there's anything wrong with drafting rookie RBS.  Often times high draft pick rookie backs perform pretty well.  Not to mention the average running back lifespan is like 3.5 years, so getting use out of them when they have fresh legs tends to make sense.  Bijan wasn't a bad pick either, he's around 10th most points scored for RBs, which could be a whole lot worse.  I agree though, it's insane the level of hatred people can grow to just off of ones fantasy play lol

Heck of a game tomorrow ladies and gents.  Cincy versus Baltimore..bit of a nice change from last weeks Bears/Panthers game lol

Looks like Ravens are favored by -3.5  Cant wait to see how it turns out.

Why is this -3.5 only? Is this because the Bengals won against the Bills on week 9? But the Bills are not a very good team for 2023. They also lost vs. Russell Wilson and the Broncos on week 10 hehehehe. Also, it might be because the Ravens lost to the Brown?

In any case, I reckon good bets on week 11 might be New York Giants +9 and also the Cowboys -11. The Commanders will not win -9. Also on the Cowboys, if they can win against the spread with -16 against the Giants they can also do this against the Panthers.

I think -3.5 is a pretty fair spread.  Just checked my sports book and they seem to still be at 3.5 spread.  Honestly I could see this game going either way.  Both teams in my humble opinion are both in the "elite" categroy.  Joe Burrow has been playing like the mega-star quarterback that he is of late, and so I think there's absolutely a chance they could take out BMore.  Wont be easy though, especially that it's played in Baltimore.

Not sure if I'll be betting this one, but can't wait to watch it!
724  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 16, 2023, 07:09:01 PM
Not sure if this has really been discussed her or not yet..but what do you all think about the Zach Lavine rumors?  As a Chicago Bulls fan, I think we got the better of the Jimmy Butler/Lavine trade, and he's been a fun and exciting player to watch these past few years, but it's time to blow it up.  Lavine is not good enough to be a teams leading star, and would fit much better as a number 2 or 3 option.  The Bulls aren't heading anywhere with this team, so time to move on a rebuild.  Thoughts?  Also what teams do you guys think he'd be a good fit for?

Chi it's time to blow it up.  Not that the Knicks are any better but the way they are constructed they aren't going to compete at the highest level.  Sucks althat lonzo ball has gone down but it is what it is.  I'd get whatever I could for derozen and Levine in terms of young guys and picks and start over.  Landing someone like wemby in the draft is where it's at unless you are landing lebron type free agents.

Yeah I hear ya and totally agree.  Half the problem is Bulls ownership whom typically had a hard time making proper decisions.  Bt yeah at this point, sell/trade the stud veterans which includes of course Lavine as well as DeRozan.  Not to mention Vuc is a solid Center and I'm sure a few teams would be interested in his services.  I don't see any reason to keep him around.

Ball is a lost cause.  I mean talk about miserable luck, we never really god to see him play fully healthy along with the rest of the team.  Not say that would have been a championship team, but it would have been a lot more exciting.
725  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler's family action. on: November 16, 2023, 07:06:06 PM
During the weekend I was listening to an evening programme from one our the local radio stations they were discussing about gambling, the effects and how to manage it if you might be struggling with  addiction. And they had listeners calling in to share personal experiences or of a loved one that gambles and amidst many callers there was this very caller story that caught my interest and curiosity.

She told about how the family members of a particular young man that is like a plunger when it comes to gambling, his compulsive gambling is to the length of him selling his personal properties and gadgets to make sure he gambles. So what he family did was to print a photograph of him and giving it to all the gambling shops within their neighborhood and around the locality, threatening that any of the gambling shops they have pasted the photo of their brother should they find their brother allowed to gamble in the shops they will sue the gamble shop owner to court as one that is abetting their brother's compulsive gambling lifestyle.

Now, while I was quietly listening to the story in my head I began to ask myself several possible  questions and one of such questions was; is it not possible that this young man can take a cab away from their location and move to a far area to carry out his gambling since his a compulsive gambler.

Just two questions here:
1. Dis the family of this young man went too extreme in trying to help stop their brother from gambling addiction or not?

2. Assuming you are this young man and you had to run to a distant location to carry out your gambling as you are allowed to gambling within your neighborhood and luckily you won huge sum of million dollars. Would you share that money with your loved ones who were barring you from gambling or you will just stay off from them and live new found wealthy live alone?

Share your thoughts!

I think anyone with a family that cares enough to go to those sorts of lenths to help out their fellow family members should consider themselves lucky to have people whom truly care.  Today so many parents simply fail at their job, which extends even in to adulthood.  I think what his family did was noble and that he should be proud that he's got family members whom care as much as they do.
726  Economy / Economics / Re: How to survive hyperinflation? on: November 15, 2023, 06:48:06 PM
The only correct answer is to be well diversified.  I would never only invest in just one sector, or one thing.  Sure you could get lucky and hit it big, but you're also leaving yourself exposed to large losses due to the lack of diversification.  It also all depends on your time-horizon.  When will you need to access these funds for example is a question to ask.  There are investments such as TIPS that were created to specifically combat inflation, but again it's just a piece of the whole investment pie, or should be anyhow.
727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is King on: November 15, 2023, 06:45:36 PM
I agree that bitcoin is "king" in some fashion.  I think it's important to realize though that not all cryptocurrency coins are created equal.  For example Ethereum really isn't a competitor to bitcoin.  They are two different coins with two entirely different reasons for being created.  The same goes for a lot of other coins that focus on things such a NFTs/smart contract building.
728  Economy / Services / Re: Courtsiding from a scout (dictation) on: November 15, 2023, 06:41:44 PM
Hello, guys! I thinks everyone knows what is courtsiding - when you go to the stadium, to any sport, and make bets from there, trying to make a bet faster than bookmaker will update the odds.

I have been working as a scout for two years now in a company that provides data for bookmakers (in Scandinavia, in the north). In some countries I have been to all the football and hockey arenas.

I can dictate (3 years of experience) to you matches from arenas where there are no scouts (the bookmaker updates the quotes by taking information from the person who is watching the broadcast from the office).

There are arenas with old equipment, and due to this, a delay in data transmission is created. These are the arenas I ride in.

My price is 125 EUR from a person (I can accept almost any crypto), and I want to take 5-6 persons maximum, so companies will not cancel your bets. Delay is more than 7 seconds (up to 12).

PS I am interested to work with professionals, who knows how to bet and how does it work. I will not write here my contacts, you can contact me in PM and we will discuss it.

PPS You can ask me everything here and I will explain  Cool

So pay you in an irreversible payment and trust you give out good advise.  Do you accept escrow and you might actually need to promote this in services too.  Might get some hits that way.  I'm not familiar with this kind of service is this for big swings in odds based on, on location information?  Why not just make the bets yourself if you get that type of info?

Yeah I have these same questions.  Also, why would you only take 5-6 customers, versus many more? Also, the live court odd changes happen in seconds, there would be no easy way to communicate with you fast enough to be able to make the changes in a timely fashion.

I'm pretty skeptical about this.  I'd like to see some proven data that shows this "service' is worth our time and money.

731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you rather make your investments in FIAT or CRYPTO? on: November 14, 2023, 05:38:16 PM
The crypto market has a high level of volatility. Anyone who is about to make an investment needs to have a good understanding of the volatile market. Now the question is, even with volatility, will you still choose to make your investment in fiat through bank savings with regular monthly interests or rather make your investments in crypto where you hold your asset and still have the opportunity to save and make monthly interest?

"hold your asset and still have the opportunity to save and make monthly interest?" I am not sure what you mean by this.  I would take holding money in your fiat bank versus keeping bitcoin money in your digital wallet (or physical) as essentially the same thing.  I think I would rather make my investments in FIAT however as it's more stable and more predictable.  Bitcoin I view as an entirely different thing.  I guess I need further explanation because this comparison doesn't really make sense..
732  Economy / Economics / Re: Will people ever get tired of trading bitcoin? on: November 14, 2023, 05:35:09 PM
I think people could possibly get "tried" of trading bitcoin and that's why I'm such a huge advocate for making bitcoin a great alternative currency to actual fiat dollars.  Using bitcoin as a currency gives it a whole lot of utility, and therefore giving it more of an appeal to be traded as time goes on.  I think it's important to use bitcoin in transaction as often as possible, giving it true utility that will be traded for many many years to come.
733  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting strategies on: November 14, 2023, 05:31:34 PM
I have thought about being more active with gambling in this manner.  I do a decent amount of sports betting in general, but I typically bet before the games and not during.  I will however bet live at times when I think a team scores first and gets lucky, as I don't think they'll keep it up, so placing bets after the first score is something that I try and utilize, but not as often as maybe I should.  Other than that, I get a bit spooked with betting live.
734  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What percentage of bitcoin investors are gamblers ? on: November 14, 2023, 05:28:39 PM
I would say that 10-20% is a pretty accurate guess.  I know that bitcoin changed the gambling game for me entirely.  I use to use a buddy as my bookie until he decided to give it up.  I think didn't have any way to gamble as I didn't trust checks from overseas companies.  It somehow took me a little while to realize bitcoin was being utilized as a currency for gambling, and I jumped right back in.  Love the combo of gambling/bitcoin.

@everyone. How are the injuries on the Broncos' secondary? I think if they are 100%, Russell Wilson and the Broncos might win +7 against the spread vs. Josh Allen and the Bills. Josh Allen is also not anymore the yearly MVP candidate that we have witnessed for the last 2 seasons, I reckon.

@ChiBitCTy. Where is Justin Fields?

In any case, in the beginning I thought I would win. In the present, I know I will lose again on this week.

He’ll be back next Sunday when they play the Detroit Lions at their house. I think he wanted to play this past Thursday against the Panthers, but for whatever reason they decided to hold him out one more week.

Some decent games tomorrow. Can’t wait to watch the Texans Bengals to see how Stroud follows up that performance from last week.  Niners Jags is one heck of a game I’m really looking forward to. Browns Raves a decent one as well.  Sunday and Monday night games though, yuck.

The results of the games you mentioned are headshaking except for San Francisco vs. the Jaguars hehehehe. Also, the Bills which lost vs. the Broncos in their home stadium was not very shocking for me. I mentioned this last week and asked if there were injuries on the Bronco's secondary. This Josh Allen appears to have a minor injury, I reckon. This season he does not scramble very much like the seasons when he was speculated to be the next regular season MVP. I speculate that it might be his knee or his ankle.

I still can't get over Cincy losing to the Texans.  I know Stroud is starting to become one heck of a QB, but the Bengals losing to the Texans proves they are pretenders.  Also lost me a good bit of money as I was all over Cincy at -6.  Grrr
736  Economy / Economics / Re: India is the new economic leader of global south. And replacement for China?... on: November 12, 2023, 06:28:16 PM
One thing I know for certain is that I don’t trust the economic data that comes out of China. China constantly lies about their economic production, among all sorts of other economic numbers, and I simply don’t trust anything that comes out of that nation. They’ve had an economic issue with “ghost cities” for well over a decade now which is majorly hurting their economy and it’s something that aren’t super open about. I could definitely see India taking over in the east.
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you know about the first public servant paid in bitcoin ? on: November 12, 2023, 03:00:57 AM
It would be nice had you posted in some more information about this person, who they were, why they decided to go about being paid in bitcoin etc.

I also wonder things like why and how was his employer willing to pay out his salary in bitcoin. Also you have to keep in mind that most of the salary was spent to keep up with his monthly financial obligations..so that’s of course got to be factored in.
738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not perfect, and that's okay. on: November 12, 2023, 02:53:17 AM
I think the important thing to remember is that Rome wasn’t built over night. We all know this saying. This certainly applies to anything out there , as great things most often take time to iron out, so to speak. The great thing about Bitcoin and its blockchain is that they are programmable, therefore they will forever be made better, more up to date, etc.
739  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever heard about financing a gambler? on: November 12, 2023, 02:49:00 AM
There are definitely some professional gamblers that are good enough that have financial backers, though I’m not real sure how many are out there and how it all works legality wise. But I know if I had the extra money to help finance a professional gambler with a proven track record I certainly would. This is after all how some people make very good livings.
