I agree the Stuttgart vs Dortmund match is very important for both teams. I just read that the opening game will be Netherlands vs Senegal. I thought that the hosts always play the opening game, wasn't it like that so far? Did the rule change in this WC?

It seems that many are surprised by the new history of the World Cup opening match, the Senegal vs Netherlands match being the opening match of the 2022 World Cup. Because previously the host country has always been involved in the opening match of the World Cup since 1938. But for the 2022 World Cup it's a little different, because Qatar will only play against Ecuador a few hours after the Senegal vs Netherlands match.
