721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Unethical treatment by Newegg on: January 27, 2014, 08:43:36 PM
You wouldn't think that Newegg would treat you the same way that some kid in a basement on a far away continent does, but here they go:

I ordered and paid for a R9 290x from Newegg yesterday for $550 with overnight shipping. This morning Newegg decided to void my order without a specific explanation, and recommended that I should check with my Credit Card company for a wrong address (Uhh... I used Paypal).

Immediately after the email I came back to the site and see that the same card is now listed at $650.

So they basically just went and cancelled my order because they decided that can gouge other customers for an extra $100.

Yes, I know that $550 is on the low side for an R9 at this point, but that doesn't mean screwing over open orders from existing customers.

Just venting.   Angry

AltCoin: Changing perfectly legitimate companies into common thugs.

Are you sure it was newegg and not a 3rd party merchant. Anyone can open a store on newegg and sell equipment.  I've seen a lot of shady things happen from those merchants.

On the other hand my company has bought $100k of equipment on newegg and you would think that they would provide some better customer service but no.
722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Call to the Community - Do not invest in Ethereum's IPO on: January 26, 2014, 08:59:55 AM
As many of you heard, Ethereum was funded by goldman.

This is actually false, I just watched the video he said he has people who work for goldman sachs not goldman sachs investing in it.

Just my two cents about ethereum, no one that matters in the bitcoin community cares about what Charles Hoskinson is doing. He is a real life troll, he is a con-artist, who thinks if he speaks enough times people will believe him or follow him. He started with education and tried to raise money for that and it failed. Then he would harass people on pm for donations.

As for Ethereum, it will fail as well, it has no real concept. Or great I can embed my code into a blockchain and do something, UHMMM bitcoin already does this.

be wary of "work for" and "investing".  I do not promote who I do programming for.  After all I'm contributing to the open source community.  If they are advertising they are par tof Goldman Sachs then there is some grey area they are trying to harness for their own purposes (Goldman Sachs).  It wouldn't be the first time GS tried to gain something under the guise of an innocent subsidiary, "employee of" situation,

I won't trust this as far as I trust Ripple.  GS is trying to take control of cryptocurrency.  Stay far way from this.
723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Will scrypt mining via GPU be obselete eventually? on: January 26, 2014, 08:27:27 AM
It's just funny how overlooked the prospect of improved GPUs is in these discussions.  GDDR6 by EOY and projected 2 Mh/s on these cards as a starting point.
THIS ^^^^^^^^!!!!!!!
724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Will scrypt mining via GPU be obselete eventually? on: January 26, 2014, 07:59:12 AM
asics vs gpu is relative to price.  So I giveGPUs 2 years inscrypt coins.  Then they will all move to another algorithm like scryptjane.  With so many GPU miners in an alt algo like scryptjane the price will go up and it what ever coin uses it will be the next LTC.  GPU mining will lever die..It will just wax and wane.

728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Will scrypt mining via GPU be obselete eventually? on: January 26, 2014, 06:49:37 AM
GPU mining will never go obsolete.  CPU mining?  Yes.  Only because CPU mining can be quickly coded for GPUs when it becomes profitable.  GPU to FPGA to ASIC is more expensive so only algorithm coins that have established themselves a truly long lasting will get the FPGA/ASIC investment.  But every new algorithm is based on previous ones so each iteration will mean that the FPGA/ASIC implementations will become less and less profitable.  Eventually there will be coins that GPUs will mine and it will not be worth it to fabricate FPGA or ASIC chips for them.

Cryptocurrencies are already 4 years old.  GPU mining was expected to die 2 years ago yet it keeps on being profitable.
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2013-11-21] Alpha Technologies Announces ASIC Miners for Litecoin are Coming on: January 26, 2014, 06:44:09 AM
yes I agree they are a bunch of joes that came upon the holy grail and are not adept at understanding what they really have.  I expect they are putting too much faith in their manufacturer and that will result in a lot of shipment, customer service issues after deployment.  I am very concerned at their capability to support manufacturer defects after shipping.  My guess is they cannot handle it and will ignore many of them.  That is a risk I cannot afford based on their inexperience.  I mean they have only one engineer and he is only a recent college grad (Fiaz).  The rest are just accountants.
730  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Next Alt-Coin to hit $5 on: January 26, 2014, 06:40:02 AM

Vertcoin (VTC) will be above $5 by the end of February.

Better than LTC and ASIC proof, plus adding the best of RPC (currently trading over $30)

VTC wins.

Bet on it...

ASIC resistance not ASIC proof.  Never underestimate the stupidity of humans and the power of technology.
731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Ethereum is garbage and must be stopped on: January 26, 2014, 06:39:04 AM
Things nobody wants or needs - Check

It's not even a currency.  You're initially being sold as getting involved with a currency, yet their plans include things like moving a large portion of the IPO into the establishment of a "decentralized autonomous organization", another Protoshares buzz/scam word.  Just like every other variable in this plot, they don't even bother listing what the purpose of such an entity is, or why you should want it.  You might as well be investing in decentralized, autonomous, robots armed with machine guns.  There's just zero reason for you to want any of this stuff to exist.

This is the biggest and glaring issue of the coin network.  They are incorporating the coins into a more centralized organization rather than keeping them in the network.  This allows the organization to dictate the value of the coin at whim.  You might be mining for a profit one second and then all of a sudden the organization dictates a change and you are in the hole.  All the while the organization is the one profiting on the shift in value.

They are establishing a Federal Reserve coin network where a single body controls the inflation and value of the coin.  Only the ones in charge of the network and their insiders will every profit from it.  For everyone else it is a negative sum game.

post your BTC/LTC/altcoin address and I'll send you a few.  I'll send more if you can provide video or audio interviews/conversations/walkthrus.
733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Development on: January 26, 2014, 06:28:06 AM
From the standpoint of architecture and basic engineering, I find it borderline sci-fi to be reducing the physical footprint of the thermal space by 80%, increasing the density of chips, maintaining the same hashrate, all while reducing the power usage. Can you even do the math on the efficiency factor for that? A+B = Astonishing, that's what it is.

For this to be legit, would be groundbreaking. Not saying it's not legit.. but it was at least realistic during the preorder stage when the system was a full-height case. Kindof hard to believe at this point without so much as a technical drawing..

Yes, schematics, pictures of production, and/or in-depth tech discussions would be helpful and reassuring at this phase. The window for no-penalty cancelation is fast approaching and I'm sure you are going to lose a lot of people without some proof of these, frankly, hard-to-swallow claims.

Fiaz can you report on why you are able to reduce the footprint of the 4U 25MHz units to a 1U design but are not passing the cost savings down to the buyers of the 5MHz 1U units.  I find is suspect youare able to do so but if you can why are you overcharging your 5MHz consumers?

Your over you are is common grammar mistake in UK.
Sorry, but it is no mistake and it is you who needs to correct his grammar.  He said "Hey I can't really answer your questions" which is correct, he is not saying "You're" or "you" as that would not make any sense at all.  In this instance he used to correct wording.

I am also looking forward to fiaz answering a few of these questions put forth by crazyearner.  Especially the one mentioning visiting the premises of your business.

Read again...

Hey I can't really answer your questions without knowing them. Your welcome to PM me.

Fiaz.

Looks like you forgot to log out of your alt account again.

Fiaz can you report on why the user kab is posting using your signature "Fiaz"?

Came here to say the same thing.  Kudos to you!
736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt Asic finally here! Scrypt ASIC / SHA-256 combo miners Pics details on: January 26, 2014, 06:06:32 AM
Screw them. The 2 most profitable coins for me in the recent past cannot be mined with these ASICs

which 2
Memorycoin and Vertcoin. Protoshares can be GPU mined too, but I'm not sure it's worth it now

I expect these to be the next LTC.  Many BTC miners dissed LTC when they went FPGA and ASIC.  I expect the same in the LTC community.  History rhymes.
737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alpha Technologies Investigation Thread - Bounty? on: January 26, 2014, 06:04:37 AM
A lot of investigation has been done on litecointalk.org.  So far it seems shady.  The guys that own the design do not seem to know what they are doing.  My guess is they bought koolio's design (as he confirmed selling the IP rights to a UK buyer) and are funding the development through preorders.

These guys are trying to make a big leap on preorder money.  They are not anticipating the high rate of fabrication failures at the scale they are developing ASIC chips.  I expect a lot of delays and cost over runs.  This is butterfly labs all over again.
738  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Next Alt-Coin to hit $5 on: January 26, 2014, 06:01:04 AM
IFC, TES then FOX.

All of them have the liquidity to support a global economy.  While it wont be a fast run I expect that they will get to $5 per coin over the next 3-5 years.  They will act like a Starbucks, Microsoft.  Grow over time and make those who sold early regret.
