A friend of mine is a cashier. While he was able to understand what bitcoin is because he already was familiar with most of the economy related terms I used while explaining; he just couldn't believe such a thing is possible.

Maybe he was afraid that he's going to lose his job to a piece of software.  Grin

I've started a TEST Pool since there is some variables which I did not had before.

I need some power and see if we find a block or not.

Remember it is a TEST pool, if we don't hit a Block in an hour or so - its probably not working, i'm tweaking behind the scenes though.

Hashrates etc. will probably be reported wrong at first...

Try it at your own risk:

7230  Economy / Gambling / Re: Mining is getting me nowhere, what about poker? on: March 10, 2014, 06:40:33 PM
Doesn't playing poker for an income sound too good to be true?

No matter how lucky or good you are a gambling, you can't always be the winner.

As you lose you'll have to take bigger risks to recover, this will most likely drive you bankrupt.

The forum has MORE than enough money. But I'm still grateful those guys are still runing the forum no matter what. But maybe, I say maybe they should put some more effort on protecting the forum users. This is the heard of your community, people come here to learn. Ponzi sceme ads won't help.

7237  Other / Off-topic / Re: Got free time? Just don't waste it on faucets! on: March 10, 2014, 09:30:55 AM
See faucets and such websites are all about wasting your time. "Rolling a couple of times" won't do anything. You would need to visit the website dozens of times before you can withraw any amount. That happens so the website earn more by advertisements. "Free btc" sounds too good to be true and it actually is.

As of Japanese, I don't have much experience. I know 4chan's /int/ board has a wiki on language learning.
You can have a look at it and see if something there helps. http://4chanint.wikia.com/wiki/Japanese  Smiley
7238  Other / Off-topic / Got free time? Just don't waste it on faucets! on: March 10, 2014, 08:42:13 AM

I thought off topic would be the best place to post this because of how unwelcoming some other parts of the forum are when it comes to discussion.

Anyways, I'm trying to make a point here. I hope I'll help some people by putting that out.

Whether you're new to bitcoin or not I'm sure that you've heard of bitcoin faucets.  Now let's get started with how those websites work: First of all, those websites attract users with one way or an other. In our case, FREE BITCOINS. Sounds good right? We've all visited such a website at least once.
But why would a website be set to automatically pay out bitcoins for each one of it's visitors? Well you're actually paying them to get paid.
Each time you get into this page, every time you see an advertisement into this page, they're earning. And they're earning much more than what you do. Have you ever thought how much time you would need to spend in faucet/pay to click etc. Website to earn the equivalent of $1? And while you're doing that the ads you're viewing are paying the website owners an amount like 10x of what you're being rewarded. There is no other way for those websites to work out.

So now that you know that you're actually not going to earn anything from "free bitcoin" websites, you should find some other way to spend this time you were wasting. Do you still want to earn something? I'll be listing some more effective ways to earn bitcoins. Be careful though. Earn means that you'll have to work for it, no one is going to throw money at you for no reason.

At this point you should ask your self if you have any particular skills you can maybe take advantage off. Like coding, website building, video editing, languages, or even writing!

There are countless tutorials for how to get started with worldpress.
Worldpress is an amazing tool for blogers. After you install it to your website it's really easy to put out content and make the environment look atractive for visitors. If your writting is good and you have something interesting to write about then all you need is some self promotion. You don't need millions of visitors to have a respectable ad revenue.

If you don't really want to run your own website then why not write for someone else? Big websites that feature articles can't have content from a single person. They need people to write for them! It's not hard to send an email detailing what you could write about and asking if they would be interested.

If you have some skills you think people would be willing to pay for then why not thy one of those?

https://coinality.com/

To make things clear, you're not going to have crazy earnings but it's by far better than what you would get from faucets. Plus you're doing something productive!

But if you wouldn't like to get in all the effort just to earn some coins, well then you can still spend your time productively. Why not learn something?

Check out https://www.edx.org/course-list University professors give free online courses there. You can even get some sort of certificate! There's sure going to be somethint to interest you in there. If not, http://www.codecademy.com/ is a really nice way to get into code. Or maybe even learn a language at https://www.duolingo.com/ It really makes learning a new language seem easier.

So yeah that was it. I know writting guides is not my specialty but I'm really hoping this is going to help some people out.
Your comments and questions are welcome.

AND REMEMBER:BE PRODUCTIVE!

7239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GPU mining= profitability going down the drain. on: March 10, 2014, 07:31:28 AM
Is there a Script Jane asic resistant coin profitability chart?

Nope. But it's still easy to calcuate it for your own if you know what your hashrate is and you have an account to a pool. Pools usualy provide you with the necessary stats.
7240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GPU mining= profitability going down the drain. on: March 10, 2014, 07:21:28 AM
http://bitcoinwisdom.com/litecoin/difficulty

Scrypt asics are already out, you can clearly see that the ltc difficulty hasn't risen a bit but there are many coins more profitable than litecoin when it comes to mining now. I personaly have laready switched to scrypt-n mining. Those coins are asic resistant, I think their price will rise in the future.

Maybe that's why multipools are less profitable now. Because they're being flooded with high hashrate asic rigs. Whatever the case is, scrypt mining is nothing like bitcoin mining. I remember year ago I would not mine because my daily earnings were 0.01 BTC and it was something like 2$ back then...This was prety stable until it boomed again with dogecoin. I was getting 0.07 a day and since everyone abandoned litecoin for doge, the next week litecoin had a crazy profitability.

moral of the story: never stop mining.  Grin  Grin
