7221  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Seemingly simple hacker tactic yet effective against exchange employees on: June 25, 2020, 11:33:42 PM
Exchanges and it's employees are going to be a high value target for this scammers and cyber-criminals. That's why it is very important that this people understand how those criminals work and how it can be prevented by educating them on good security hygiene. Attacks came from different directions but I think the one of the best practice is not to click anything on their email, specially unknown sources with URL shortener, emails with attachments. This should be practice not by just mid-tier employees, but it should start from top management as well.
7222  Economy / Gambling discussion / [Boxing]: Orlando Gonzalez-Ruiz vs Luis Porozo on: June 25, 2020, 11:10:56 PM
Ok, I'm not that really interested in this fight to be honest, but its good to have a discussion because of this bet from a gambling whale:

Vegas Bettor Risks $192K To Win $14K On Gonzalez-Ruiz To Win Thursday Night

Quote
An anonymous bettor in Las Vegas has A LOT of confidence in Orlando Gonzalez-Ruiz.

That unnamed gambler has wagered $192,001.30 on Gonzalez-Ruiz to win back only $14,763.33 if Gonzalez-Ruiz beats Luis Porozo in their eight-round featherweight fight Thursday night in Las Vegas. The wager was initially placed at MGM Grand’s sports book as part of a two-fight parlay that included heavyweight prospect Sonny Conto, but according to a story posted on the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s website it was reduced to a one-bout bet when Philadelphia’s Conto was scratched last week from Top Rank’s card Thursday night at MGM Grand Conference Center.

https://www.boxingscene.com/vegas-bettor-risks-192k-win-14k-on-gonzalez-ruiz-win-thursday-night--149760

Perhaps this whale really missed boxing bet that's why he suddenly throw a lot of money on Orlando Gonzalez-Ruiz. Checking the odds at Nitro:

Gonzalez-Ruiz better be win here, Lol, otherwise it will be an upset and bettors are going to loss a lot of money here. I'm not gonna tail this whales, better wait for other good boxing matches. Of course I don't have that kind of money and I'm not willing to loss as well specially in this pandemic.

Are you willing to bet huge amount seeing the odds?
7223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum's biggest contender? on: June 25, 2020, 10:44:27 PM
I don't think that those supposedly contender can even touch Ethereum though, there's a lot of hype on them like 3 years ago and so far we haven't seen any of them, closing the gap, Ethereum remains the top choice for projects and D-apps. Of course, names like BNB, Cardano, EOS, NEO, but still, Ethereum remains on top and the gold standard, in my opinion. Challengers need to prove something big to be in the discussions to replace Ethereum.
7224  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Russia’s Ministry Of Justice Challenged The Proposed Bill Seeking To Ban Crypto on: June 25, 2020, 10:07:07 PM
It appalls me that some people are literally paid from the public's coffers just to propose bills with lots of inconsistencies such as this one. If they are allowing the ownership of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies with the bill but not using it, what do they expect the people would do to it? With what they are currently suggesting, underground economies would surely flourish and a lot of people will disobey the bill as it does not, in the slightest, thought of the welfare of the public.

I guess it will take years before Russia gets some form of progress with cryptocurrencies. They are taking a step forward and 10 steps backward with these kinds of stuff, really.

Its not new though, we have heard Russia's stances on crypto before - total contradictory, so we really don't know, perhaps up to this day, they are undecided at all. Probably might take a decade whether they are going to allow it or not. And maybe when other countries have taken steps and accepted crypto, Russia will be left out. But as we can see in this community, Russia's crypto enthusiast are huge, so regardless, crypto will still flourish there, no doubt.
7225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Didn't satoshi revealed himself during the domain purchasement? on: June 25, 2020, 09:47:32 PM
Didn't satoshi revealed any important credentials when he bought the bitcoin.org? Are there any links so I can read the whole story, because I had read somewhere that the place that he bought his domain, was an anonymous place (that was accepting bitcoins in the later years).

You can read below:

bitcoin.org was originally owned by Satoshi. He registered it through https://www.anonymousspeech.com

But I will go with mindrust's (b), he could used somebody else information to register the domain. So from day one, he really knows how to protect this identify, adding another layer of mythology or fictional personal to the name "Satoshi Nakamoto" (him/her/group of people).
7226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Volatility is good but... on: June 24, 2020, 11:38:20 PM
Volatility is part of what defines Bitcoin and some other cryptocurrencies.

If you're going to look closely, altcoin market is more volatile than bitcoin, believed me.

As the industry matures, the rise of cryptocurrencies that tracks the performance of less volatile traditional assets like real estates and commodities will likely bring a lot of beauty to the cryptocurrency industry. I believe that a mix of more volatile crypto assets and less volatile assets will give traders a lot of options to enjoy while trading.

I didn't get your second point here, there could be investors from other industries like you mentioned are going full crypto now. Maybe because there'a a lot of money to be made here, or they just simply wanted to diversify their portfolio, which is a good practice. But I do hope that those investors are going to pick bitcoin or some altcoins that has strong support and good marketcap instead of shitcoins.
7227  Other / Beginners & Help / {Warning}: Defi and Web3 based applications - attacks is on the rise on: June 24, 2020, 11:07:27 PM
Recently, we have seen a lot of hype surrounding DEFI and Web3 based applications. And as a result we have seen a lot of new wave of phishing, from MakerDao to Uniswap and others. You can also read my post early [Scam]: Upgrade Sai to Multi-Collateral Dai Which is probably the first hint on what's going to come in the next coming months.

So I would like just to raise some warnings and awareness specially for beginners here. And why this web3 apps is very dangerous? It will ask for your privatekey directly on the interface.

And if you are familiar with the Scam Accusations boards, there are users already reporting this kind of trick.

Sample UI that you might see:

Code:

Similar themes and UI, probably change the background base on the legit websites. So again, just be cautious. Highly targets are:

7229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's name and Logo Registered in Spain. on: June 24, 2020, 10:02:33 PM
This makes me ask myself, should bitcoin be patented on each country? or if it was already patented in another country then is nonsense to do it?

This looks like a nice step, but if it was already registered in Germany maybe it was just a waste of time.

Exactly, and this get me thinking, should I patented it myself here in my country? LOL.

I'm not sure but the person who registered and patented it may have some 'narrative' behind. At this point, we can't really tell, but I'm a bit skeptic and suspicious, to be honest.
7230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PAGCOR waiting for the approval to reopen land-based casinos. on: June 24, 2020, 09:26:45 PM
Fortunately for me, I have all membership cards in the big three (RW, COD, Solaire), however, I'm not interested to gamble because of health risk.

See. Here is one example that even people do have resources or any forms of access, they will not just go to the casino once it opened.

Surely, this mindset is also on other people as well.

That's why casinos are doing a dry run to have an insight on what should they expect once they adopt the new normal system.

I'm in favor of the casino opening. If only others see the situation in the Metro, especially those who hardly hit by the lockdown, they will able to understand how difficult for IATF to approve something.

Don't get me wrong though, I still supports PAGCOR plan on re-opening soon to really test how casino are going to do in this pandemic, however, I don't want to be another statistics,  Smiley

I would rather see the curve flatten first. And agree that I'm not the only one that has this mindset, and besides, I play in land based casino to get the lively atmosphere, but in this new norm, casino's will be quiet as hell, I don't know if there will be entertainment as well, like the live bands, so I will really skip and play online.
7231  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The most safe AI trading bot? on: June 24, 2020, 09:06:18 PM
Bots will work if you know how to set up it's parameters, of course, bots are going to trade if you run it in VPS 24x7, but still base on your trading 'skills'. As far as the list, someone already posted it, every bots has its own strengths pros and cons, read and see what fits your need. But to say that it's going to make you money automatically is wrong mindset though.

7233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PAGCOR waiting for the approval to reopen land-based casinos. on: June 23, 2020, 11:30:11 PM
This will be a gradual process, I don't think all casino's will be open in a day. I think it will be the big one first in Manila for a test and then in other parts of the Philippines. And for the record, according to the protocols they have set, it will be no card/no entry policy. So it's not just everyone could enter and play pre-pandemic. In order of average gamblers, you have to show that you have this so called membership card before you can play. And I'm sure that they will stop accepting new membership during this pandemic to control the crowd. Fortunately for me, I have all membership cards in the big three (RW, COD, Solaire), however, I'm not interested to gamble because of health risk.
7234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally, Paypal Support responded !!! on: June 23, 2020, 11:09:46 PM
Replying to old tweets: It's a joke on Twitter after a tweet became viral years ago. Nowadays, it's also a trick used by some community managers on Twitter to make fun with their community, and considering the latest rumor with BTC/Paypal it was the right time to tweet it.

Yes, and it you look at that supposedly twitter Paypal support account, it suddenly awaken from deep slumber and start replying again, very clever trick and it coincide with Paypal/Venmo rolling out their plans to "support" bitcoin.
7235  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Phishing Cryptocurrency Website on: June 21, 2020, 11:30:30 PM
^^ And it really reinforced what we have believed in the past, those scammers are really connected to each other and probably colluding with other criminals as well. Cheap domain hosting + parking it for sometime before making their move and then recycle.
7236  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC asset freeze "Modern Money Team" on: June 21, 2020, 09:15:38 PM
It will be interesting to see how long this criminals will serve jail time. This is no joke, that's a lot of money "stolen" to begin with. They have violated "Section 10(b) and Rule 10b-5 thereunder of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Section 17(a) of the Securities Act of 1933". I'm not a lawyer but it seems that this is a Federal law, so probably more than 10 - 20 years?
We all know how justice system works in the US, and that the law they violated seems very hard to win so probably the judge will handed them jail time just like the rest of criminals who violated the SEC Act of 1934, swift and hard 25 years max.

I did a little research about this one and for investment as well as securities scams in the United States most of the economical related crimes don't reach the maximum penalty in the US since I think this is not the kind of crime the US sees a maximum penalty is worth it for criminals, investment scams can be counted as white collar crimes where they are punished softer compared to violent crimes. The United States Sentencing Commission provided a data where it said that crimes related to investment only averaged for 54 months in prison sentencing.

Very interesting report, but I'm not really sure if those investment scams included crypto related already. And it's just an average, maybe we can see some variance specially applying law to crypto scams. So let's see how they are going to sentence the people behind ''54' months average is like a walk in the park for this criminals.

7238  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: India considers another widespread ban on Bitcoin on: June 20, 2020, 10:31:03 PM
India is a country that restricted gold imports and is willing to fuck over tens or hundreds of millions of its own people with that bank note cancellation thing. I assume this is no more than the usual 'crypto press' junk half heard from a Tuk Tuk driver but I wouldn't be surprised if something vaguely similar happened for real one day.

They seem to run their economy in the style of an abusive bunch of amateurs.

Yeah, who would forgot their "demonetisation"?  Why India wiped out 86% of its cash overnight.

And probably this is the result of their form of government, and RBI as exhausting all mean to over turn Supreme Court decision again. It's really a messed and crypto enthusiast are caught in the middle. And just like its previous precedence, this will go ongoing debate on their parliament floor.
7239  Economy / Economics / Re: world war 3 is coming ...do to coronavirus / economy ... on: June 20, 2020, 10:04:04 PM
LMAO, if we go with your argument, then after the Spanish Flu, we should expect a war? But it didn't happen so your logic is flaw in the beginning. Probably this is just another conspiracies against, don't watch Youtube videos and believed them right away, used your common sense. I would agree that we may be entering a looming financial crisis because of the pandemic, but WWIII? There are so many wars in the Middle East already and it didn't cause a world war because government are not that stupid to create a global tension.

Have you heard of Hitler ? WW2 started after the Spanish Flu

Yes, iWWII started after the Spanish flu, but definitely not the reason why it began, you have to check your history. Have you heard of Hitler?

Again, the usual conspiracy theories, you give them facts, they show you Youtube videos.
