7241  Economy / Services / Re: [SERVICE] SHILLIING TWITTER - NATIVE ADVERTISING on: April 08, 2021, 12:42:21 PM
Thanks, actually we're building a crypto marketing company and looking for a new way of promotion. So do you know any other ways of promotion of crypto services? How about small talk on a call ? Mate)

Sorry, somehow I've completely missed your answer.

All I know is what I've seen here on Bitcointalk in term of campaigns and some older info of what used to be the crypto related twitter campaigns.
That's not much of information, so I don't expect it to really be helpful, since you can go yourself into Bitcoin Services or Altcoin bounties boards.
7242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Two months since Tesla BTC purchase. Corporate buying less than expected? on: April 08, 2021, 10:38:55 AM
My thread is about big names expected to come into the BTC world as investors.

The big names do buy. At least some of them. The chart in both the threads I've already posted suggests that.
What you seem to expect is (like the other topic!) news/headlines about new buys. And I have a feeling that some of those investors prefer to stay rather silent instead of triggering price increase, which won't favor them yet...
7243  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next big news? on: April 08, 2021, 10:33:39 AM
Maybe it's not just about selling, but about people increasingly beginning to realize the importance of the fact that it's not smart to store such a valuable asset online, and there are more and more of them who are starting to be their own bank after all. However, it is good that there are fewer and fewer coins on exchanges, not only for security, but also because it has an impact on the price of BTC.

It's an interesting direction, but I fear that it's only wishful thinking, and since "you can't teach an old mule new tricks", it's not the old traders / users doing this.
I would be happy to be wrong  Cheesy
7244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Two months since Tesla BTC purchase. Corporate buying less than expected? on: April 08, 2021, 09:42:12 AM
We remember that day when the news came out. BTC shot up from $38K to 44K and to 48K the day after. People expected an avalanche of big companies to buy BTC. So far it hasn't happened yet it seems. We have seen news about some companies around the world buying crypto but they were not "big" big players like Tesla. Do you think corporate buying so far was not as big as we expected when Tesla made the news?

Why you guys keep discussing that same thing over and over again instead of looking 2-3 posts around (or even using search)?!

This topic is about the same thing: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5329214
This topic may also help: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5329096
7245  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next big news? on: April 08, 2021, 08:52:33 AM
What should we expect in coming days that can push btc to more adoption and expedite it's March towards $1 million?

We shouldn't expect any news, really.
The big investors are happy to be able to keep buying big amounts of Bitcoin without making the price explode.

And the weak hands and so-called traders are selling, which is shown by the amounts of coins constantly leaving the exchanges.

If you look at the same post/thread, people tell that miners may not even selling (much) any longer.

So all we could expect would be to see more strong hands and traders getting real and holding for a short while, allowing the price grow as it should.
However, all this is speculation (and may be more appropriate to be moved to Speculation board).
7246  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 4.0.9 wallet sync problem on: April 08, 2021, 08:29:55 AM
Yes I do think that the wallets will sync between each other.

They don't sync with each other. They are independent entities. Any of them, and only if it's online, syncs with the Electrum servers (which are sync-ed with the blockchain).
Since the watch only wallet has the master public key, it can hold the same addresses as the offline wallet, but only the online wallet will know what happens on the blockchain.
And the offline wallet needs help (gap limit) to enlarge the number of addresses it sees, but that's actually not necessary, since it'll remain offline anyway, and, as @nc50lc said, the offline wallet can sign the transactions anyway. And that's the only use (besides security) for the offline wallet.

In my case, I need to generate some addresses for a number of users (which is greater than default number 20). My program also subscribe to those addresses for notifying when bitcoins are transferred to those addresses. Therefore get an unused address from Electrum may not be a good solution to me in current approach as some addresses may remain unused at last.

Actually I understand that Electrum may not be a good choice to handle a huge number of addresses. But in this situation if someone having rights is going to make transaction from Wallet A, the gap limit of wallet A is required to be changed as the same as Wallet B first in order to take the correct balance?

The offline wallet will not know the updates in balances / incoming-outgoing transactions. Since it's offline, it doesn't receive that information from the Electrum server.
The offline wallet is only good for signing transactions (i.e. spend), and those transactions have to be made with the online wallet (which is the only one that knows the correct transactions/balances/inputs)

If you only want to notify users, the online watch-only wallet should do most of the job: see the incoming transactions, notify the users. The offline wallet is still useful for security and signing.
But if you plan big number of addresses, you'll have to go with Bitcoin Core.
7247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How can I buy monero securely and privately on: April 08, 2021, 07:50:07 AM
How can I buy monero securely and privately so I don't lose ANY of the anonymity that is the main benefit of this cryptocurrency? What is the safest and at the same time most practical way to store it. Thanks!

Step 1: Buy Bitcoin (or a top altcoin) from any exchange (preferably decentralized, or from the forum [beware, use escrow!] no KYC exchange or localbitcoins).

Step 2:
v1. Make an account on Binance (where no KYC is required), exchange those Bitcoin to Monero and withdraw.
v2. Use something like https://monero.cx/ and exchange your Bitcoin to Monero (Disclaimer: it's a fairy new website and I don't know how honest they are yet, so don't go with big money here)
7248  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 4.0.9 wallet sync problem on: April 08, 2021, 07:40:31 AM
From the topic title, I think that OP may be (wrongly) thinking that the wallets will sync between each other.

OP: maybe you would be nice and tell the actual setup (what is offline and what is online) and what you want to actually achieve.
(For example, if you want to make a merchant solution and you expect to generate huge number of addresses, Electrum may not be your best option.)
7249  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 4.0.9 wallet sync problem on: April 08, 2021, 07:18:18 AM
Did you by chance created multiple addresses like this and they're all unfunded?
Because you may have passed the default gap limit and all you may have to do is to increase that.
7250  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin Forum on: April 08, 2021, 07:12:07 AM
I meant the altcoinstalks forum

Have by chance occurred to you that the fact we don't know nor care about the other forums is a sign of how good this forum is?
7251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shield132 is back! - I left everything and everyone for one month for trading on: April 07, 2021, 06:50:40 PM
we were a part of Bitsler for years  Wink

You really want to make me feel old, isn't it? Cheesy

Depends on bull run, if there is exciting news and bull run started, then sure you have to enter. For example once the Binance announced Tokocrypto, it started massive bull run and I joined it and stayed, no regrets, did amazing job. But when it's fake bullrun one whale sells at higher price and then others quickly follow, then sure to leave. Bull run without a reason is a thing that you should avoid!!!

It's not always easy to know it's actually bull run or not. I see with Bitcoin and newbies, some jump in head first, others are still unconvinced it's bull run.
And market/price manipulation does exist, the smaller the coin's market cap, the bigger the chance for it, making legit market moves even less obvious.

Btw I don't mean shitcoins that have no purpose to exist.

There are a few other good coins too, some of them didn't even start a proper bull run. And imho they're by far not shitcoins.
Still, I am uncertain in which direction will their price move in the next year.
However, I no longer trade, and I'm still on profit with them just by holding, and maybe, sooner or later, they'll make me happy.

Bitcoin will always surpass it's all time high Smiley)

Clearly. People keep telling to keep at least half of portfolio in Bitcoin for a good reason.
7252  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Offline seed and wallet-backup on: April 07, 2021, 06:38:08 PM
This shouldn't really be necessary with Electrum wallets, or any other wallet based on a seed phrase.

Normally, for Electrum, the seed would suffice. And that should not stay on a file (since files tend to end up on desktop, or in Dropbox, with the results we already know). Derivation path could be a good addition too.

But I've got few cases (not with Electrum) when, for various reasons - from me not paying attention to hardware or software error -, that the last backup file was broken.
So I've developed in years the habit to keep at least one extra version back, just in case.
7253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shield132 is back! - I left everything and everyone for one month for trading on: April 07, 2021, 03:52:09 PM
Welcome back.

5. When you buy coin in 1 USD, you shouldn't sell it in 0.7 USD. The idea of trading is to sell high!

Trading in bull trend is great. I've done that too, long ago. But bull trend doesn't go on forever. And you don't know when it'll stop and revers for good.
Certain traders may find it a better business to buy at 1$, sell at 0.7$ and buy back at 0.5$, or never buy back if there's no sign of recovery.

6. Bonus advice!!! Invest money that you won't have a need for 4 years. After halving, even the worst price can become cool Smiley)

That's the best advice. It's a "reinterpretation" of "don't invest what you don't afford to lose".
Still, keep in mind that while this works great for Bitcoin, many other coins will go down and won't recover even after 4 years (and some may not really show signs that this is about to happen).
7254  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Offline seed and wallet-backup on: April 07, 2021, 02:53:55 PM
- once a Seed is offline created, can I go online with it (using Electrum on Tails)
or would that defeat the purpose of offline seed creation?

If an attacker manages to steal your wallet (via malware) file and your password (via keylogger), it won't matter that you generated the seed offline. So imho it kinda defeats the purpose.
On the other hand, the attacker needs to get both - wallet + password -, hence offline seed could be a tiny bit safer.

However, if you already know how to use Tails, I suggest you keep that wallet on Tails 100% offline, as cold storage, and keep on the live/online computer a watch-only wallet.
And just read and follow the cold storage docs: https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/coldstorage.html

- do you overwrite your Electrum-wallet backups on the removable offline storage media
  or shoud different backup-version be stored (e.g.:  wallet-bu_2021-04-01, wallet-bu_2021-04-06)?

I don't have this problem, I only backup seed(s). Unless you do anything fancy, seed should do.
If you keep files, I'd keep at least the last 2 versions, just in case one of them is saved damaged for whatever reason - it's a rule I follow for all file backups I make, no matter where from.
7255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Giving bitcoins as a gift? on: April 07, 2021, 02:27:37 PM
And she is married with kids, so while I will always like her, there is no hidden agenda on my part here.

I think that you will have to basically ask her opinion on this.
Because it's not only about how she will react on this, it's also about how her husband will react on this.
Money and jealousy can change families completely, and not necessarily in a good way. Discuss with her.
7256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microstrategy added another $15 million bitcoin to assets on: April 06, 2021, 01:54:40 PM
Should we pay attention to such news?

It's another ~257 Bitcoin that went from circulation to institutional cold storage.
It's not a big amount, so I guess that many won't pay much of attention to it, but it can be noted that the trend is still there. For some it can be a signal that they can keep buying, in case they were no longer certain.
7257  Economy / Economics / Re: Why you can't be rich by owning crypto on: April 06, 2021, 10:35:07 AM

You wanted to say something, but mixed up apples with oranges and the result is just a... fruit salad. Sorry, but imho you've got it all wrong.

Because of its scarcity, Bitcoin price goes up. It's not only making up for the US dollar's inflation, as you wanted to imply. Bitcoin goes up also against gold. Bitcoin goes up also against the price of a pizza.
So a pizza after a year will be much less than 0.001 and much closer to 0.000135 (0.001 / 7, minus the US dollar inflation, give or take).
7258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 0 incoming connections on: April 06, 2021, 09:31:03 AM
Imho the VPS has to allow incoming/inbound connections on the correct port (8333?) from your (home) IP.
Why shouldn't already allow it? How do I check this?

I don't know if the specific port is allowed. And I am not an expert, so if you're not in a hurry, just wait for a second opinion.

From what I know, if you try to do Telnet which may need to be installed separately as windows optional feature on a specific IP and port you can find out if it's anything listening there or not.
For example
Code:
telnet localhost 8333
tells me "Could not open connection to the host, on port 8333: Connect failed", since my bitcoin daemon is not running, but
Code:
telnet localhost 18080
gets me in (no error), since I am syncing my XMR daemon now.

I expect that telnet from VPS "localhost" will work and from your home IP to the VPS won't.
7259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 0 incoming connections on: April 06, 2021, 08:53:07 AM
Or I can solve this by changing a firewall rule?

Imho the VPS has to allow incoming/inbound connections on the correct port (8333?) from your (home) IP.
You should make sure that happens, else you're wasting your time.
7260  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: April 06, 2021, 07:13:34 AM
IMO, the cybertruck is ugly

I certainly agree to this and imho it's one of the "points" that makes people not choose it.

If anyone was interested in a vehicle to purchase as a show of wealth, I think the Seabreacher would make a far better choice than either a Tesla or a Lambo.
"Roads?! Where we're going We don't need Roads!!!"

I would rather go for a Tesla model X or a Maserati Levante.
