7261  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Hands On] Bitmain AntMiner S5+ - Notlist3d on: August 23, 2015, 04:10:00 AM
"dream box"

Tested. S5 + works with  S5 18 pin controller board.

That could be awesome! I wish bitmain work on something like that with the new chips.  Grin

3th and something around 650-700 watt dream!

I hope they keep this design for next small version.   I still like the S4 having it all in one box, if they did that with more density would be great.

But this way of linking smaller miners really does work great.  I'm sure it would cost a few extra dollars to make the controller this nice, but it's a option I would pay for to be able to combine smaller miners hash rates.  And the 3 hashing blades per so far has worked great.
7262  Other / Meta / Re: Ban duration/length on: August 23, 2015, 02:48:58 AM
If the ban of 10 days was doubled to 20 days and began on the day of the evasion then it is well past 20 days now.
Had a 20 day ban started on the first of this month then it would be over now but it actually started before the end of last month.

Any suggestions?

Like I mentioned before, the account was probably permabanned, meaning it will never be unbanned.

However, wait for BadBear to post in this thread (he should post in here if he sees this thread) and he should be able to tell you exactly how long the ban is.

Also important when everyone say's wait were talking like month's not day's.   Ban evasion is taken very seriously, if you bug the admins on it you will never get it back.

Wait a few months admit what you did, appolgize and ask for forgiveness.   And you might be banned forever still.  Only admins can tell you this.  No one knows how bad your spamming and ban evasion was besides them.
7263  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Uses for an old block eruptor? on: August 23, 2015, 02:45:35 AM
List them on eBay as collectors gear. More for owning it and displaying it.

Then use the money to buy side hack usb sticks

I would agree with selling.  They have a surprising amount of value still.

Also people seem to collect the entire color selection.  So if you can sell an entire set depending on your colors value might go up.
7264  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Well... This sucks! Antminer help! on: August 23, 2015, 02:43:35 AM
You might be able to superglue a broken fan blade back to the fan, and it might even work for a while, but it won't be balanced.
Better than trying to run the fan with the blade completely gone though.
I'd stick a fan grill between the fan and the S5 if I DID try that repair though, in case of rebreakage while running it SHOULD keep the blade from doing any significant damage inside the unit.

DO NOT try epoxy. It's not strong enough, given the very small thickness of the blade.

I would use a heat gun then  use super glue  either way i would replace it for peace of mine  and to be safe. any repair he does more then likely wont hold long .

I think we have all mentioned the balance.  When that fan is spinning high RPM it really could be a bad idea.   Make sure the miner is not in area with people or that piece of plastic could be a big issue.  Or it hitting the miner depending on where it hits.

I would order a replacement with quick shipping.   I know you said you don't want to order a new fan but it would be really bad idea to cheap out on the fan.
7265  Other / Meta / Re: Ban duration/length on: August 23, 2015, 12:37:19 AM
what is the ban message?

if the message say something about the period of time then it is a temp ban, otherwise it is a perma ban and won't expire

With it being what OP called  "evasion" he will not be coming back.  Evasion is a perma ban.

He can wait a while and PM one of the admins and ask nicely to get unbanned.  But as far as time right now I would say forever unless an admin changes it.
7266  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: getting started on: August 23, 2015, 12:34:45 AM
Just downloaded GUIMiner - v2012-12-03. What's the next step?

You really need to read up on asics.  Mining with GUIMiner is not going to pay much at all, most likely you will lose money.

Look into asic miners there is an entire hardware section.  What is your electricity cost?
7267  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining dead ? on: August 23, 2015, 12:33:00 AM
Electricity still be done if it's free.
Bitcoin continuously falling in very bad condition now.

Even with free electricity I don't see a GPU making ROI.  Your talking about a decent investment.

And GPU just does not pull in what they once did.   Feel free to show some ROI math, but I dont see it recovering GPU cost anytime soon.
7268  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Well... This sucks! Antminer help! on: August 22, 2015, 11:59:07 PM
So, I was carrying my S5 upstairs and, so be my luck, I fell flat on my face on the last step. The S5 didn't land to seriously and still hashes at it's regular, but the one of the fan's wings snapped off.
There are all but one and the miner shakes when powered on. I think the fan is destabilized in the case that all the antminer fans run in...
So can I stick the broken piece back on with epoxy resin (will it snap again) or can I do some other kind of physics magic to feex it?

P.S. I don't want to order a new fan, not doing that whole ship to american friend and wait 20 days for him to finally send it and get it 9 days later...

Ordering a new fan is your best bet.  Just as bitmain posted you can order direct from  them.  I'm not sure why you would not want to order a new fan.

You can try a epoxy but chances of you getting it balanced and able to handle high rpm is very unlikely.
7269  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining dead ? on: August 22, 2015, 11:12:03 PM
I'm thinking to buy r9 to mine

Really? Please use a calculator in order to calculate your costs and (way less) income. Buying brand new GPU's in order to start mining, or even buying GPU's to start mining, is not a smart decision as GPU-mining is not likely to be profitable anymore. Unfortunately..

Do ROI math but most don't even get electricity paid for when mining with GPU's.  And chances of ROI of GPU's is pretty much zero.  It is sad but it is what it is.

Look into asics.  Also what is your electricity price? This will have a lot to do with it.
7270  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread aug 23rd to sept 5th. Picks are not open yet. on: August 22, 2015, 11:08:10 PM
Hopefully we can get a little higher on it during this period.

Only if the XT nonsense gets resolved somehow. Which it probably won't anytime soon.

XT I think will be there for a while sadly.  I don't think there is a chance it takes enough to become the main coin.   It is sad they even have it as it's just hurting btc in my mind.

I think biggest thing is still the flash crash.  That took a LOT of money of people buying up.   Normally that amount spent to buy would not happen in such a little time.
7271  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Dogie's BITMAIN AntMiner S7 "Guess the Price" [Prize] on: August 22, 2015, 11:06:15 PM
Post-hoc, we should comment on the methods used by the "winners" as to know what to expect.... or if it was sheer luck Wink

Bitmain is pretty secretive so I don't expect for the prize they leak the price.   I think sheer luck will be the method used.

Unless they did some comparison of old gear and btc price, it's hard to tell how much info they could get if they go through all old product release data.
7272  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Miner on Windows Phone on: August 22, 2015, 09:59:05 PM
Is it possible ? Or no i found that app on Windows Store

This will make the phone work to a much higher rate than it was designed for. It will likely overheat and break faster, and the rewards are not likely to compensate.

I have done a few programs on the phone where I ran 24x7 and most are surprisingly well built.  Sure I did kill a few phones.  But overall most lived.  The program I was using pretty much died so I have stopped this a while back.

But mining on a phone really does not make sense.   Just is not enough power to make it worth while.
7273  Other / Meta / Re: Need Amin pls - is important! on: August 22, 2015, 09:56:34 PM
hello guys,

need a Admin who can delete my Account and my whole posts here on bitcointalk.

thanks a lot for doing!

best regards.

"Need Amin pls - is important!"

Really?

There are scams all over the place, shitcoins supportors and FUD'sters are shitting all over the forum, the talk about forking bitcoin is splitting the community, the world is on the breach of war and finacial collaps.

Deleting your history with 2 posts is the least important thing to do here.

Really stupid to make a post in meta with this drawing the attention from everybody about this insignificant problem.

It quite possibly is a troll it is pretty common knowledge accounts are not deleted.   We see 2 posts now but account was started "May 31, 2015, 09:11:25 AM".  It is possible the member had more then two and deleted all others.

But account will not be deleted.  With the scams that happen here sadly I agree deleting accounts is a bad idea here.
7274  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread aug 23rd to sept 5th. Picks are not open yet. on: August 22, 2015, 09:50:10 PM
Sure would be nice if we do get a negative this week. Last week was not horrible but i really like 2 percent or less.  But at least not a crazy big number.

Price seems to be hanging around 230 for a while now.  Hopefully we can get a little higher on it during this period.

Well almost 3 days and still not a single issue.  I have not had to power cycle it.  It just keeps running great as far as spec.   I'm giving it pretty high marks so far.  Below shows it running for almost 3 days no X's or other issues.

7277  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The completely evaluation of Dragon 1 T bitcoin miner from china on: August 22, 2015, 09:37:06 PM
A link https://www.dropbox.com/s/yz02suc4j24ium4/dragonboot-4BLADE-ENG.7z to the 4 blade english ISO.  When unzipped willl be a little under 8 gig.  It's ip is http://192.168.1.134/

And as a extra precision use a 2nd card just to make sure it works with your machine as well. This is the software used to make image http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/ .  It also can write images aswell.

Please upload it again. All links I found are obsolete now.

I had somewhere image for 1TH - 4 die dragon miner, can upload it if actual.
It had +russian language for interface

If you do have it I'm sure eventually someone will thank you for it.   The original one is not up I don't believe.

I was doing some cleaning of my files and somehow deleted it off my dropbox.  That and a usb hard disk dying with me having sold my 1T a while ago makes it where I wont be able to get the image to share with others.
7278  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN launches 4th generation Bitcoin mining ASIC: BM1385 on: August 22, 2015, 09:33:27 PM
maybe they sold all the s5+ and don't plan to make others!

so they will produce an 15th monster!

This is something we really don't know.  The S5+ was a way to use a LOT of chips.   So if this was old stock of chips they sure could use up a lot quickly.

It's hard to say if they will make another batch or if we will see S7 next.  Just a lot of unknowns.
7279  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How do I filter the incoming air in a direct air cooling farm? on: August 22, 2015, 06:24:43 AM
I use a combination of custom sized screens and synthetic hog hair air filters.

It kind of depends on your area if you get lots of dust/bugs you will need a screen for sure and possibly a filter of sorts.

The one that suggested having all windows closed I would not do.  This chances are means your using AC to cool with is to expensive.  I personally am using a lot of CFM's through a few different fan's it allows me to keep my mini farm running even during the hot summer day's that luckily are mostly gone.
7280  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Receiving money from Brazilian Friend to Canada? on: August 22, 2015, 06:19:29 AM
Basically the one exchange i found in Brazil has a 12% premium on the BTC going price, so doing it that way would be worse than Paypal.

Is there a legit or a way i didn't think of him either sending me money with minimal fee or him obtaining BTC hassle free-ish at normal price?

From coinbase "Brazil is treating digital currencies as financial assets, with the Receita Federal imposing a 15% capital gains tax at the time of sale.".   So as far as a legal exchange in Brazil chances are it will be high percent.  Sadly exchanges because of laws cannot work in all countries.  So some specialize in certain countries.

Legit way's is paying the extra tax.  It sucks but that is the legit way.  You could use something such as localbitcoins but you still are going to pay high fees and there is some risk of scams.

So for him to buy it there is going to be more then minimal fee sadly.

Hmm. But he can send money through paypal for 3%~. That would seem better. The problem is paypal also keep an extra 2% on currency conversion. And then i have the turn the paypal money into Bitcoin somehow or find a seller here that takes Paypal.

This sound like a pain. But 12% is being retarded and not doable. The 15% tax explain the price of BTC on Brazilian exchange, however.

Still there has to be a way to transfer fund with smaller amount of fee. If BTC is too expensive then we just have to find a cash way, hmm.

Sadly he is in a country that there is nothing he can do to avoid BTC high prices.   You could have him send through paypall and you buy BTC and it's less then the fees on his exchanges.

With his country having this tax there just is not a easy way to get around it.  They don't make tax to be avoided, so this is why it is hard.

But whats the best route when the money is in Paypal? Deposit to debit account (very slow) or is there another low fee way to ultimately get BTC from an exchange? Finding seller who take Paypal could be doable but it's not without its challenges.

The getting from different exchange is kinda dreaming, sadly with his country any exchange operating there will have high fees so that is something he cannot avoid.

Paypal is going to have a decent fee aswell as so much risk of seller.  I don't think you will find a cheap way of this.

If you have a debit account way I would go for slow vs the huge fee.   It is kinda sadly which is the best of these crappy ways, there is not a great one that jumps out as good.
