Attempt at moral equivalency fails.  The entire Islam religion hates gays. ...

And the Bible says kill disobedient children with a stone, don't be gay, never eat shellfish or you are an abomination. Yes, religions are all nuts. Your not supposed to be gay in Islam either, but some people are gay. They always have been and always will be. Religion is about people trying to control other people.

Excuse me?  More moral equivalence without a factual basis.

Stick to the point I made instead of misleading please.

No Judeo Christian sect advocates killing gays.  It's not in their holy book.

It is in the Muslims.

Leviticus 20:13
"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them."

Muslims consider the honor of the Prophet Muhammad to be dearer to them than that of their parents or even themselves. To defend it is considered to be an obligation upon them. The strict punishment if found guilty of this crime under sharia (Islamic law) is capital punishment implementable by an Islamic State. This is because the Messenger Muhammad said, “Whoever insults a Prophet kill him.”

However, because the honor of the Prophet is something which all Muslims want to defend, many will take the law into their own hands, as we often see.

Some funny stuff. Cheesy

Where do LGBT issues and animal liberation intersect? Your mind, that's where.

But on a side note: Chickens do have an emotional life, it's really all they have. The emotions of animals are the same emotions we feel. They feel loss, joy, etc. That does not keep me from slaughtering and eating them, but I do recognize their lives and I am thankful that they were there to feed me.

On the other hand, how do we really know that animals have emotions?

I tend to think that emotions can only be felt or had by creatures that have a literal soul. I think animals are essentially robots (cyborgs?) that are built to efficiently mimic emotions at times. The fact that animals save lives at some times, simply proves that they are controlled by outside forces that use them for the saving of lives.

Smiley

No matter what we believe, I understand the meaning of giving thanks before eating anything as a form of respect of Nature. So called primitive cultures always thanks the spirit of the animals they are killing for food. It is an ultimate form of respect and understanding of how precious life is.

I many not wear their skin and antlers while jumping in a cab after diner though... Smiley

There was this cute calf on my land, but belonging to a neighbor. Very young, very curious. It would come near my door and look at me watching TV. I would try to stand up verryyyyy slowly so I could touch it, but it would run away so fast, every time.
No doubt this animal was playful and was trying to understand the meaning of me sitting doing nothing. But it was still not enough for that calf not to be turned into food later in its life.  Smiley

Mia Khalifa Controversy Growing as Critics Slam Lebanese Porn Star

Mia Khalifa, a Lebanese-American porn star, is at the center of an international controversy after being named as the industry's top actress by one adult website.

Since gaining more exposure with her X-rated videos — one in which she's filmed performing a sex act while wearing a hijab — Khalifa has received death threats and strong criticism from Lebanon, where the 21-year-old was born, the Daily Mail reported.

Khalifa is now the most searched for actress on the website PornHub, the newspaper said. Critics have complained about her wearing of Muslim religious clothing, while others object to her tattoos, many of which refer to her Lebanese heritage.

Khalifa moved with her family to the United States when she was about 10, Newsweek said. Her family has denounced her.

"No one in my family is speaking to me," Khalifa said recently, according to Newsweek.

She has responded via Twitter to negative media about her in Lebanon.

Psychiatrists Now Say Non-Conformity is a Mental Illness: Only the Sheeple are 'Sane'.

Modern psychiatry has become a hotbed of corruption, particularly the kind that seeks to demonize and declare mentally ill anyone who deviates from what is regarded as the norm. This is abundantly evident in the latest installment of the industry's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM, which dubs people who do not conform to what those in charge declare to be normal as mentally insane.

The so-called "condition" for why a person might choose to resist conformity has been labeled by the psychiatric profession as "oppositional defiant disorder," or ODD. The new DSM defines this made-up disease as an "ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior," and also lumps it in alongside attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, another made-up condition whose creator, Dr. Leon Eisenberg, admitted it to be phony on his death bed.

As you might suspect from this type of open-ended description, almost any personal behavior perceived by someone else to be undesirable or strange might be categorized as symptomatic of ODD...   ~source

How to find a feminist boyfriend

‘I find it really attractive how successful you are,” my date said, leaning in for a kiss.

Sure, it sounds like a line. But it also sounds like feminism. It certainly made him more appealing than the guy who said, “Wow, you’re really ambitious,” like he was surprised. Or the one who asked, “Why do you work so much?” and “Why would you want to work even more?” when I was angling for a promotion.

It didn’t work out with any of those men, but going out with them made it all the more obvious to me what I want a partner to be: cute, smart, funny and . . . yes, feminist. So go ahead, alert Susan Patton, Lori Gottlieb and the rest of the get-married-already crowd: A 30-something single woman, eggs unfrozen, is telling other single women that they should dare to want it all if they ever hope to have it all.

But how do you spot a male feminist if he’s not at an abortion rights rally wearing a “This Is What a Feminist Looks Like” T-shirt?

Article is a bit editorialized and appealing to emotions (why does it matter if his birthday was last month?) but if the information presented is how it went down; that is pretty fucked up. There has been a string of situations lately where law enforcement will shoot dead people with mental disorders because they don't understand what is going on. There needs to be additional training to recognize and deal with those who have episodes such as this.

The Everyday Sexism of Women Waiting in Public Toilet Lines

Long lines for women's restrooms are the result of a history that favors men’s bodies

If you’re a woman, chances are you’ve a) spent time fidgeting in a long line waiting to use a public toilet, b) delayed a bodily function because you don’t want to or haven’t the time to waste standing in line to use a public toilet, c) considered sneaking into a men’s room—illegal in some places, or d) cursed loudly because of all of the above.

Faced with a long restroom line that spiraled up and around a circular stairwell at a recent museum visit, I opted not to wait. Why do we put up with this? This isn’t a minor pet peeve, but a serious question. Despite years of “potty parity” laws, women are still forced to stand in lines at malls, schools, stadiums, concerts, fair grounds, theme parks, and other crowded public spaces. This is frustrating, uncomfortable, and, in some circumstances, humiliating. It’s also a form of discrimination, as it disproportionately affects women.

After counting the women, I tweeted, “Dear @britishmuseum there are FIFTY women and girls standing in line for the loo while the men’s room has zero line #everydaysexism.” Immediately, people responded with the suggestion that women use the men’s room. But even more responses were defensive, along the lines of “How on god’s green earth did you arrive at the conclusion that this was sexist?”

7294  Other / Politics & Society / If the Internet becomes a public utility, you’ll pay more. Here’s why. on: January 07, 2015, 12:11:15 AM

The Federal Communications Commission is in the middle of a high-stakes decision that could raise taxes for close to 90 percent of Americans. The commission is considering whether to reclassify broadband as a telecommunications service and, in doing so, Washington would trigger new taxes and fees at the state and local level.

The agency would like to make Internet service a public utility, placing broadband under Title II regulation of the Communications Act of 1934. This move would make broadband subject to New Deal-era regulation, and have significant consequences for U.S. taxpayers.

Under this decision to reclassify broadband, Americans would face a host of new state and local taxes and fees that apply to public utilities. These new levies, according to the Progressive Policy Institute (PPI), would total $15 billion annually. On average, consumers would pay an additional $67 for landline broadband, and $72 for mobile broadband each year, according to PPI’s calculations, with charges varying from state to state.

Proponents of broadband reclassification, including the left-of-center organization Free Press, claim that it would not result in higher taxes or fees. The recently extended Internet Tax Freedom Act, they assert, prohibits state and local taxation of Internet service. This is incorrect, however. The act does not apply to telecom-related fees.

Free Press and other broadband reclassification proponents also say the new taxes and fees can be prevented if the FCC designates broadband as an interstate service. A Progressive Policy Institute report explains why this also is incorrect:

“When the Commission previously considered the jurisdiction of Internet traffic, it determined that such traffic was ‘largely interstate,’ but ‘jurisdictionally mixed.’ States routinely tax jurisdictionally mixed services that are classified as ‘interstate’ for purposes of regulation. For example, wireless services may not be regulated by state public utility commissions, but they are subject to a host of state and local taxes and fees. In several states, interstate wireless revenues are subject to taxation.”

Late last year, President Barack Obama waded into this contentious debate. He called for the Internet to be treated like a public utility. Critics of Obama’s position point out this would reduce investment in infrastructure and lead to inferior service for consumers. Reclassifying broadband as a telecommunications service would also stifle innovation and restrict the openness of the Internet.

The telecommunications industry has invested more than $1.2 trillion on broadband infrastructure since 1996. As a result, roughly 87 percent of Americans have access to broadband. It would be foolish for government to discourage the significant investment required to maintain, expand and improve this infrastructure by subjecting broadband to circa 1930s regulation. Subjecting Internet service providers to such onerous rules would depress innovation and penalize Web users.

Not only would higher taxes and fees leave individuals, families, and employers with less disposable income, a wealth of research indicates it would be bad for the economy.

John Hood, former president of the John Locke Foundation, found that keeping state and local tax and regulatory burdens as low as possible fosters economic growth, when he analyzed 681 peer-reviewed academic journal articles going back to 1990.

“Most studies find,” Hood stated, “that lower levels of taxes and spending, less-intrusive regulation…correlate with stronger economic performance.”

Tax Foundation economist William McBride reviewed academic literature going back three decades and found, “While there are a variety of methods and data sources, the results consistently point to significant negative effects of taxes on economic growth even after controlling for various other factors such as government spending, business cycle conditions and monetary policy.”

In McBride’s survey of 26 studies, dating to 1983, he found “all but three of those studies, and every study in the last 15 years, find a negative effect of taxes on growth.”

The Federal Communications Commission is expected to make its decision early this year. After the more than 20 tax increases signed into law during Obama’s six years in office, the last thing American taxpayers need is a gusher of new taxes and fees triggered by bureaucrats in Washington.

If the internet is a public utility, would the Russians or the Chinese or the Italians pay a tax to have access to a US public utility? Would a VPN become illegal to be used on a US public utility service?

Not exactly a new story.

I never heard what happened there, is the voluntary manslaughter trial still ongoing?
You never heard of it because it was not worth the covering by the media.
Are you saying the trial is over and it wasn't reported? I remember this being in the news quite a bit early last year.

Your question, what ever happened to this case? tells me the media believe this is not worth the effort/$$ to cover it anymore.

This story does not bring much web clicks, selling newspapers anymore. It does not mean that information is hidden, but you have to make the effort to use google/bing/duck to find out about it yourself.

I thought my little image was a hint to why I believe it was not a priority. Maybe you are not an American and have never seen or heard of the rev. al sharpton or eric holder.

Some news about cop killings are more worth it than others. If 0bama does not talk about it, it is not news. It is that simple.

This Is What Happens When A Woman 'Manspreads' On The Subway

Apparently, taking up too much space on the subway (a.k.a. "manspreading") is only socially acceptable when men do it.

Mic editors Liz Plank and Nick Baker took to the New York City subways to see how people reacted when a woman manspreads. They found that people were not too comfortable with a woman manspreading, but seemed very accustomed to a man taking up multiple seats with his wide-legged stance.

While manspreading, Plank received numerous stares, and a random dude even snapped a picture of her splayed legs with his phone. There was little reaction to Baker, who had his legs and briefcase spread authoritatively across three seats. (Though towards the end of the video, a few women politely asked him to move his bag.)

The experiment was created in light of a petition written by men's rights activists claiming that men need to take up more space due to the "testicles between [their] legs" and that anti-manspreading campaigns are "male-bashing." This is just one of a long list of bizarre and sexist arguments MRAs often use against feminist efforts.

The manspreading phenomenon has been discussed at length in projects such as "Move The Fuck Over, Bro" and "Men Taking Up Too Much Space On The Train," prompting the NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority to launch a campaign encouraging everyone to be more courteous on the subways.

Plank explains in the video how collectively standing up to manspreading can empower us all. So, to all you manspreaders out there: Some manners and a little self-awareness goes a long way.

Activists Hold Conference in Support of “Queer Animal Liberation”

An animal liberation group called Direct Action Everywhere recently hosted an event in which a variety of presentations were given, which included titles such as “Trickle-Up Queer Animal Liberation” and “LGBTQ and Animal Liberation.”

Trickle=Up Queer Animal Liberation

The video compilation, posted by Daylight Disinfectant, starts off with a young, uhh, supposedly female who talks about her kielbasa, and why she didn’t have any love for the sausage. “How could I justly seek my own liberation, while denying that to others?” she pondered. She later shows a picture of her girlfriend with a “cow”, which shows them “connecting” and the cow “really enjoying himself.” “My goal is total animal, queer, and trans liberation” she says at the end of her presentation.

The next presenter talks about how animal liberation begins with your cat.

The third presenter starts off by saying “I’m going to talk about some of the ways in which the struggles for LGBTQ and animal liberation intersect with each other”, and uses a picture of primate bonobos having sex, with a baby bonobo between them. “I’m not sure if the adults are the same gender or sex, or if they are opposite sex, but like humans, they are one species that have sex for pleasure, and they form a variety of relationships with each other, both opposite sex and same sex relations, and also have multiple partners.” She goes on to talk about “human supremacy“, and ends with the statement “The LGBTQ rights and animal right movements must work together to achieve human and nonhuman equality

Finally, we have a presentation on “respecting gender identity”, saying “Gender expression is not necessarily fixed. It can vary from day to day even hour to hour. Some people even have a different gender identity when they wake up in the morning“…”These animals cannot tell us what their gender identity is, so, unfortunately, we have to make some assumptions based on their anatomy. It’s imperfect, but I think it’s much better to call an animal she or he to respect that that animal is a person just like humans or people

“It’s a reminder that this animal is a person, and we should respect them as an individual.” They later go on to refer to a chickens and goats as persons, and they seem to be perplexed by the gender of a snail. They end by praising Sweden’s education system which teaches children at a young age to use gender neutral pronouns.

I LOVE animals. Snakes and spiders, not so much.
For an animal to be a person just like humans or people (what is the difference, I am not really sure), it would be easier for humans and people to be like animals, if you want to try to even start leveling the plane field.

The best part is, they don't realize how humans they are acting, by pushing and imposing their human paradigm, a distinct concept or thought pattern, on animals. They don't even realize a cow is a 90% human invention, just like dogs, after hundreds and hundreds of very selective breeding.
