The most interesting notion that Gox may be being purchased by outsiders makes a TON of sense!!

Imagine you're Mark-- totally sick of running your company, dudes are getting in your way while you're carrying your scrumptious coffee-beverage to work (idiots), and no one really understands your pure awesomeness... you have maybe 10,000 BTC (idk!?!?) and someone offers you millions!! to walk away from gox == yummy coffee-beverages without idiots.

What would you do?

Win-Win-Win

It actually adds up nicely.

The biggest problem is it makes a ton of sense -- since when does Bitcoin operate under such parameters? Wink

and when has GOX ever done what made sense?

I will just note that the video seems to have been produced for the already converted.  It uses the bitcoiner slang "fiat" to refer to ordinary money, for example; that will send frissons down the spine of the faithful, but should be lost on the common folk that the bank aims to (aehm) attract, no?

I was almost expecting it to end with "CCMF!"  Wink

"fiat" is bitcoiner slang now?

your credibility just took another hit

Many on this thread and a couple of other forum threads have accurately called/predicted this price pull/back.  How do they do it?  Are they basing their forcasts on past performance of Bitcoin and charts?

Large sample size + confirmation bias

There are just as many bad calls around here as good ones, as would be expected.

The posters in the rpietila thread seem pretty confident in what they are predicting and have been pretty accurate as far as I can tell.

what do they predict as the bottom?

$400 I think, absolute minimum

Sorry but you don't get indicators this clear every day

The reason I suspect that MtGOX is insolvent is because Mark is doing everything that one expects from the CEO of an insolvent company: stalling and delaying payments, communicating only through vague press releases widely spaced  apart, avoiding clients, blaming "the system", moving to a high-security building...

And he is not doing any of the things that he should and could do if MtGOX were not insolvent and he cared about its business and the health of bitcoin. Like, proving that he controls a large stash of coins, giving explicit numbers (even if approximate) about their financial situation, bringing in some competent accountants and programmers, giving interviews about the crisis, checking and processing by hand some large withdrawals...

If MtGOX is not insolvent, Mark is feigning it extraordinarily well.

The problem here is that the GOX team have ALWAYS behaved in this way, even when they were the only game in town and wildly successful.

I am not saying they are solvent, just that they have displayed staggering incompetence right along so the fact that they continue to tells me nothing.

Hi all, I'm a new Bitcoin user and I'm starting to generate some of my own coins.  I have a few friends who are also using it now.

I am a programmer by trade and have a fair amount of experience with different platforms like linux, Mac OS, iPhone, etc.

I am interested in running Bitcoin on other platforms like iPhone and I'm wondering if there is any interest in this or if anyone has a problem with this.  I'm also wondering if someone has already done this so I don't waste my time.  Thanks!

My Bitcoin address is 1XPTgDRhN8RFnzniWCddobD9iKZatrvH4

Good luck getting anything bitcoin-related on the iPhone, Apple are notoriously against it. They recently removed the Blockchain app from the appstore with no reason.

history comprehension fail, that post is from 2010...lol
