Newbies are just too quick to associate themselves with project they have no idea how they're been operated. A quick surf through the forum & you will see numerous advertisment thread created by newbie and other "not experience"  forum members associating themselves with project they're not a team member or have no idea how that project is operated. The DT system have some precaution measure they employed to help combat potential scam before it happens and one of those measure is tagging any account associating themselves with a potential scam or already proven scam projects.

Here's an example: Why am I bringing this to this board, I want it to serve as a warning to you guys always starting a thread without researching on the project. Don't associate yourself with a project you have no idea how it's been operated, the moment you do, your account serve as a representative of that project on forum and if it turns out to be a scam or offering unrealistic price you get tagged as your started thread served as an advertisement (somehow announcement thread) to the forum. Be warned, keep your account red tagged free, don't try this on forum.!!!

Just like the low ranked users (newbies - members) that were wearing avatar before the implementation of wearing of avatar to only Full member ranked users above, wearing an animated image will remain a privilege to the users who were wearing one before the restriction from theymos.

You can do this though, check your profile settings [follow this steps] the disactivating avatar option is just above disactivating signature option. Although this option will disactivate all avatar.


Using of scripts might work, it works for signature so you should indicate this in your OP (someone might create one) because don't think theymos will grant your request.

This will serve as a warning both for you and others, you don't just go associating yourself with projects you don't have any association with. What was your position or what did you stand to earn by creating a "some how" announcement or advertising thread for the project when you have no associated to the project as you claim. If a user associate their account with scam like projects either through announcement (advertisment thread) or other advertisment medium they get tagged.

Your tagged will only be removed when the project prove they have that amount of fund before now (tagged date). These procedure are put in place to prevent scam before it happens.

You guys don't get it, not all newbies are lazy beside the search button doesn't give that much of an accurate result especially when you don't know the specific words to use. A user complained about him not been able to find a post he once saw even though he use the search button both on and off forum.

The idea is a great one and I support it, not just because it'll be helpful both for newbie and older members but because it'll always be kept up-to-date unlike others that are outdated like the "how to bitcoin thread".

Negativity didn't, instead spamming did. I believe what the OP meant by negativity here is the constant attacking coming from the sockpuppets flooding meta of recent. These guys aren't looking at the bright side of the systems (merit & dt) just because they're affected they think the system is rigged. When they don't get merited they blame merit sources instead checking themselves and improve on their posting quality or when they get red tagged, if they're so innocent as they claim instead of appealing their case reasonably like a normal, intelligent human being will they attack the forum which result to nothing.

It's never a waste as it highlighted the quality of the post and make it stand out among other posts on the board or replies in that particular thread although in the spirit of helping low rank users (trying their best in contributing positively to the forum through quality posts), if I was to be given the opportunity of having more smerits at my disposal, more allocation will go towards lower rank users but until then, most quality posts from members irrespective of their rank gets +1 from me.

I don't get the point of this thread, is this some form of advert or what? Because cryptocurrency have always been available anytime and anywhere since the introduction of exchanges. As cryptocurrency have always been digital and make use of the internet. Investors can easily access their coins to buy or sell from their laptop or phone through an exchange be it decentralized or centralized one. And when it involves transfer, that can be done from their personal wallet still accessible anywhere, anytime.

I don't read daily news although important ones get delivered into my mailbox daily. I do relay on socal media though (especially Twitter) to stay updated with the latest trends and since I login Bitcointalk daily I also get vital information from here. It quite not easy staying update with every situation happening in the crypto industry especially when you're trying to keep tag on your coins you're holding.

True but that shouldn't distract you from the fact that bitcoin is a currency and it's high time we see it as that instead of just an investment option for some "get rich quick"" break though scheme, that school of thought {Bitcoin = riches instead of bitcoin=currency) is the main reason we have numerous scam here and there. Giving the public a wrong representation of what btc stands for which is trust, transpiracy and decentralization.

Sorry I'm against this idea, if this is some form of fund raising for charity it should be taken to the Service board or any other board where previous charity have been carried out then it'll get more support and mine too. I'm very sure serious members won't associate with this. This only portray the idea of merit competition which I don't think it is hygienic for the forum. You don't create quality post with the idea of getting merited but as a contribution in regards to quality discussion in the forum, getting merited is just a bonus.

No hate but just imagine this, some random user accepts the challenge he/she now knows all eyes are on his account. what does he do, he takes advantage of that and goes hurting in regards to creating quality content and in return gets merits and ranked up. Then what?, We shouldn't encourage creating quality content just because they want to rank up (receive) merit but because volunteering we want to add value to the forum. If users use ranking up as their main motivation to create quality post, they become liability to the forum when they achieve that goals as the motivation will be lost.

I was onces advocating for some challenges involving new rank after legendary status but after reading some reply and considering the time frame it takes even a quality posters to achieve that status I don't think Introducing a new rank will be fair for them (newly rank-up user). The merit system have stabilize everything only deserving members can now achieve that status.

Concerning OP's prediction, I don't think that'll even be considered as an option. The trust system is already filled with drama introducing it into the rank-up system will just make the case worst. We don't want another merit sorry trust broke my life trend.

Exactly, thats the point of this thread, we all know there are some few flaws (there has to be, for more improvement to happen) now instead of them attacking the system (that yeilds no results) they should provide alternative solutions that'll make the system better although requesting for a totally removal of the system isn't an option as that'll only destroy the forum the more. I mean just imagine a trust system without DT or the forum without trust system, merit system without merit sources or forum without merit system. Removing this systems aren't an option.

I'm glad it'll finally happen. The debate have been going on for some time on twitter and it's a welcome development knowing the community is comings together to make a decision that'll not only benefit bitcoin but the community as a whole. My Twitter feed is just filled with update of BitcoinSV getting delisted. We have gotten rid of one pf those bad egg maybe BCH will be next.

With this act, those greedy, selfish so called influencer supporting forking bitcoin every then and now will get the message the community is sending. The community owns the power. It'll be fun to watch if all exchange starts delisting and not waiting untill a heavy decline of price before delisting.

Nigerians do own that amount of bitcoin but since buhari's government, let's just say Central Bank of Nigeria don't approve of the technology (currency) most people hide their wealth and don't declare their hodlings openly like the westerners do. that's why they trust their fund to this centralized exchanges and most times they get scammed or get extorted in regards to high fees or through suspending their funds. In my thread The used of Bitcoin in Africa Nigeria is ranked NO1 when it comes to trading in Africa and the volume gap it has with other country is unbelievable. So I strongly believe cointelegram's informations are accurate.

Exactly that's my point, if this practice of allowing ads get welcome more often, users will turn to thread to start advertising and the main purpose of producing quality and content heavy thread will mostly be to get privileges of renting an advert space at the top of their threads. And if the practice is to continue then a restriction to only allow advertising something related to the thread should be implemented. e.g it makes no sense lets say I open a thread to read about mining bitcoin and I get welcomed by some shitproject or coin advert.

I found this most interesting as many new users joining the industry terms to get influence easily I terms of investing in coin/tokens they depends on others to know when to buy or to sell also they get easily confused on decisions to make as they don't have clear goals and just want to go with the flow. The setting of clear goals helps alot. One of those goals I set for myself in 2019 was to invest only in bitcoin bought the dip and so far the result have been positive.

Some of those clear goals you can set for yourself is deciding if you'll invest in;

• Only bitcoin. [must advisable]
• Only alternative Currencys
• Only Tokens
• Alt-tokens and altcoins or all of the above

I'm still within reach buddy, like I said before don't make it a priority if not you'll miss the main purpose of this forum. I evny you guys but I don't say that often. You guys have a board were you can hangout, discuss issue affecting your kinds and render assistance in terms of knowledgeable idea to help each meanwhile my country man are lost in the forum. Tried bring them together through a handout thread (wasn't successful). But they prefer hiding under anonymous to avoid falling victim of abuse for the clean ones and others for their selfish agenda.

I'm just lost on the forum, tried making the beginner and help board my home but this days discussion there aren't that interesting anymore for me to render some help from the few lessons i have learnt on and off forum. When it comes to reviews of exchange I don't usually trust them since they can be bought and easily manipulate at first by disguising themselves as legit exchanges, get some good reputation online then start defrauding their customers or extorting them with unnecessary large amount of fees. I found something interesting about Upbit happened just 3months ago, it might be true or false but I'm of the "school of thought"  that behind every rumor there's a truth. Therefore I won't ok the exchange but it's just my opinion. You can research further to decide if you're ok with the exchange.

At some stage in your life, you just have to rely on bottles to take away your pains that's just the truth, not speaking directly about alcohol this time, but that's what most people use. The image above says it all, I don't have to interpret them one after the other. It's quite interesting watching yourself grow into the person you always wanted to be but again life always has a way of playing it's own trick.

Some people say the cause of the 4th bottle in life is sickness but I say a major contributor is a JOB {journey of borrowing). A close friend of mine is just 8 & the half months into his current job and I have already made used of the (4th) bottle twice already. I feel pity for him but again that's just life happening.
