7322  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is anyone following the Israel & Palestine Situation. on: July 16, 2014, 07:35:21 AM
THERE NEVER WAS AND NEVER HAS BEEN A PALESTINIAN STATE IN THE PAST!

Bollocks, Palestine dates back 1000 of years, compared to Israel which was 'created' in 1948.

This it was the intervention of the major powers in the aftermath of WWII that caused this mess
And I guess it is still going on to the present day more or less as it became a mass exodus for the Palestinians of that time.

7324  Economy / Economics / Re: The light bulb conspiracy. Planned obsolescence. on: July 16, 2014, 07:30:08 AM

People tend to buy new stuff instead of repairing old stuff as well. No wonder personal debt is so high right now.

Well its because they charge exorbitantly high fees to repair it
Oh its the bulb in the Plasma tv costs more than the TV to repair best buy a new one
(For my tv it was a plug remove that plug tv runs like new again)
Sorry your hard drive and computer is whacked since it doesn't react when you press the power button best get a new one the cost to repair this is 500 dollars
(Cough dust inside the fan that wouldn't let the PC run activating the auto shut off just they made it such a pain in the ass to open)
The fridge has a broken circuit or a chip in it (but the person doesn't tell you say a 10-20 dollar fix) but is trained to tell you to replace it or pay 150 dollars for the job, or the ice tray is broken and won't run and it costs a few hundred bucks in labor for something you can do if you know how to for 10 bucks.
(Cough dust fridge was like a vacuum needs a good clean now and then, the ice tray just too much ice inside lol)

Information is money to sum it up and what you don't know costs you, it doesn't help that the prices are put at a point where a new thing seems cheaper than repairing it even if the real cost to repair it is miniscule.

7327  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 16, 2014, 06:33:25 AM
Tallking of qatar hosting the world cup, all the player have to work hard for playing in a hot weather.....

Would be cool if FIFA could move it, I hope they move it to the USA. I doubt it though.
Thats not gonna happen.

What makes you so sure of that?

Nothing is sure. They would be putting the lives of football fans at risk, if they chose Qatar.

Possibly but it is fairly stable politically at least, perhaps the heat would be the most serious problem for the World Cup there.

7328  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Supervolcano in Yellowstone is going to Explode? on: July 16, 2014, 06:26:03 AM
I've heard of this apparently the roads are already starting to melt
Because the ground is hot as heck and they are closing the park and area around it so if it does explode it will be a mount saint helens event.

The last supervolcano to erupt at Yellowstone was 640,000 years ago, and this one could spew magma more than 240 cubic miles across the surrounding land.

“The chance of that happening in our lifetimes is exceedingly insignificant,” said Peter Cervelli, associate director for science and technology at the U.S. Geological Survey’s Volcano Science Center in California.

The park goes through temperature fluctuation from the underground thermal activity, but it seems to be getting worse.

Still it looks like it won't boom yet at least.

7330  Economy / Speculation / Re: 457 HOLY SHIT on: July 16, 2014, 06:20:42 AM
That was the bottom looking back or was it 380
Either way right now that position is well into the green so it makes a good mark
Above the old High score but before the next rise although Bitcoin has been sideways for a while I think were in the long run to the next price rise 200 day trendlines etc.
7331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and spending habits on: July 16, 2014, 06:16:55 AM
Amazing plan for people who can afford it, congrats on your good fortune... and your future huge fortune.  Smiley

This it takes persistence and a nice bankroll to be able to do that
A small portion here for now but when I finish off here I might do the same for now I will have to make do with what I can get
Cheers

7333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any runescapers here? on: July 16, 2014, 05:02:44 AM
I used to play runescape a lot around 2005-2010. It was pretty much my life. My parents would never let me buy membership, so I would always put $10 in a envelope and mail Jagex headquarters at night and they would give me membership. Funny story. Anyways, wouldn't it be great if Jagex accepted bitcoin? It seems like it would be a great payment option for them. Simply send bitcoins to an address, and get membership status on your account. They could use bitpay or whatever so they don't have to hold BTC.

Is there anyway I can get this going? Anyway to get a petition or something (I want to avoid those petition.org things because they seem very ineffective). Anyway of talking directly to Jagex's payment department?

I used to play runescape at that time period a long time ago
Recalls I gave my account to a kid then took it back a year later after they quit lol they still exist but I haven't logged in for years
Good memories though and having Jagex take bitcoin as a kid would have been so much more convenient since it was hard to pay for membership without a Visa.

Maybe I should play perhaps they added a free quest and brought the wildy back lol and trade limits are gone wow way out of the loop people still want chickens  and cow hides Smiley
7334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any online universities on: July 16, 2014, 04:59:28 AM
Or other on-line education programs where students can study, learn some languages, do an on-line course etc and pay in BTCitcoin?

I think it would be very convenient for students and universities as well if they accept Bitcoins payment as their fees. And a student can chose to pay monthly or even weekly as it only takes 5-10 minutes for the payment to confirm.

Thoughts..?

Not sure of Bitcoin accepting universities less the University of Nicossia in Cyprus

But if you are looking for online learning you could try coursera or the Khan Academy

7335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and me (Hal Finney) on: July 16, 2014, 04:52:49 AM
Looks like Hal last visited on April 10 2014, since it's been a couple of months I can only assume he won't be able to visit anymore.

. hope he is on holidays enjoying his lovely son ..

I hope he is doing well the last I read about him was in my interview with Hal Finney at the time when the reporter was researching the origins of Bitcoin and Satoshi Nakamoto.

7336  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin price vs. hash rate? on: July 16, 2014, 04:14:35 AM
Price and hash rate are related but sometimes, for example after a bubble peak, they can diverge.

As in the hash rate goes higher and the price goes down?

In a sense yes there is a correlation the hash rate hasn't dropped though in a long time but it would probally slow down significantly in terms of growth
Depends on what gen your on as well but the hashrate has gone up 650 X since last year according to the coindesk report

7337  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Citigroup to pay $7 billion in subprime mortgages probe on: July 16, 2014, 04:09:24 AM
The only thing that matters here is that none of the banksters are going to prison for extended amounts of time, let alone any time at all. Are any of these guys going to be forgoing salaries and compensation for the next 6 years to make up for it or any multi-million dollar fines being levied against everyone in management each? The answer to all is Nope.

Yep just how our financial system is built if you have the money you stole from someone else you can use it to get away Scot free on things
If the company underperformed no worries you still get your options and bonus good times here have even more.
Basically no responsibility for their failures if things go down the drain you can get hired somewhere else its a revolving door after all.
7338  Economy / Economics / Re: The light bulb conspiracy. Planned obsolescence. on: July 16, 2014, 03:57:04 AM
I have had several cars break down right after the warranty expires. Our most recent purchase was a Chrysler and we joked about setting aside several hundred dollars for the approaching warranty expiration date. About 2 weeks after that date the trans axle failed.  Angry

Planned obsolescence disguised as people want newer and better things
In reality it's that our old stuff breaks after a while so we need to get new stuff (-_-)

Anyways we are wasting a lot of resources as a society on this so I hope that the mindset starts shifting again
I've had it happen so many times I've lost count however call it luck I have been able to extend their lifespans TV used fixya
Fridge Vacuumed it was a bunch of dust
Computer same problems it's a battle of will.

Just went what was that about.

The inventors of that successful algorithm would make such a momentous step forward that they would surely qualify for the Nobel Prize in economics.”

Ha-ha congrats satoshi you already did it lol
7340  Economy / Economics / Re: When will people feel comfortable using BTC ? on: July 16, 2014, 03:34:18 AM
Tech savy type should feel comfortable using it by now.

Well the tech savvy can use it but to make people feel more comfortable in general User accessibility is what is important.
Having more users feeling comfortable using Bitcoin
And having easy to access and use user accessibility is the primary goal now.
