7322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / [Need]64 PIVX [H]$60.50 PP on: March 27, 2019, 10:31:09 PM
As stated in title.  This comes out to $0.945/PIVX, which is the current going rate.  If the price changes, I can adjust how much PayPal.

Will send first only to very trusted members and/or members I've done business with before.

Local rules:  Please do not post in this thread unless you're interested in doing a deal.  Yes, PayPal deals are risky because of chargebacks.  I've done quite a few PP exchanges in the past and have never charged back and never will.  Do not post about escrow, because escrow is irrelevant with PayPal.  Please do not ask me to send first unless you're at least green trusted or you're a member I've dealt with before.

Post here if you're interested, but if you would also send me a PM to alert me, I'd be very appreciative.  Thanks.
7323  Other / Meta / Re: Community Opinion - Signature Campaigns on: March 27, 2019, 09:09:24 PM
I would personally not have any problems with that sort of advertising, nor with you running a campaign for a porn site.  You would not lose one iota of respect in my eyes.  I'm indifferent as far as pornography goes--consenting adults are free to do what they wish as long as no one is harmed, and if the porn is legal there shouldn't be any issues.  And if I'm not mistaken, there have been campaigns for sex-related services/sites/etc. on bitcointalk.

You'll most certainly get enough applicants.  There's been a dearth of signature campaigns in the past year, so members are slobbering all over themselves when a new one finally pops up.  There might be some people who won't join due to religious or moral objections, but I'd anticipate as many applications as you'd get with a gambling or ICO project campaign.  Good luck, bro.
7324  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: nuke Sent feedback from Nuked users on: March 27, 2019, 08:07:54 PM
Why not?  People who get banned tend to be worthless members of the community whose feedback won't make one bit of difference to the community's safety (with very few exceptions that I know of, anyway).  I think it would do more good than harm if all of their feedbacks were deleted, not just in this case but probably in many others.
7325  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin In 2030 on: March 27, 2019, 05:53:30 PM
2030 is way too far away to predict exact outcomes. The only thing I can predict & I’ll tell you for free - The price of 1BTC will be a lot higher in 2030 than it is today Smiley
You got that right.  The crazies with the crystal balls can't even predict the price of bitcoin next month, let alone in 11 years.  Though I hope it doesn't happen, it's often occurred to me that something bigger and better could come along and make bitcoin obsolete.  If that happens, I'd expect a crash to levels approaching zero.  And with the way technology is rapidly evolving, it's not that much of a stretch to think that could happen within 10 years or so.

And the other factors that might affect the price could take very unexpected turns.  What if the world goes to war?  What if Earth gets hit by a comet or something?  Making a long-term prediction for an asset as historically volatile as bitcoin is just a waste of energy IMO.
7326  Other / Meta / Re: Brainboss's Merit Source Application. [Focus Alt subsections] on: March 27, 2019, 01:36:45 PM
This topic shows your poor judgement: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5100675 - you are just throwing rules in the air, that are at best not true. Bumping them all the time won't make them any more legit.

I don't think it's the right thing to judge people through their own perception that is against to yours.
I disagree--I think it would be fine in this context to judge people based on their skewed perception, since being a merit source does require decent judgement.  However, based on that thread I don't think brainboss exhibited judgement that was severely lacking.  What he posted was basically a summary of community standards that already exist but which were unwritten.  In other words, he didn't make all that stuff up himself.  He wrote down what are essentially unwritten rules for leaving feedback.

And all of that aside, you don't have to be Mother Teresa in order to be a merit source.  If a source ends up abusing their position, that abuse will get picked up on fairly quickly and the member won't be a merit source for long.  So I think if someone has a reasonably good reputation and shows reasonably good judgement, they ought to be considered.  OP has been around here long enough and his reputation certainly is good enough.  I'd support his application.  The real question is whether Theymos is thinking of adding any more merit sources.  Haven't heard anything about that lately, nor have I seen a lot of applications.
7327  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen when the stock market crashes? on: March 27, 2019, 01:25:55 PM
As we have seen in recent months, when the stock market crashes, BTC follows.
I don't think this statement is necessarily true--the stock market hasn't crashed recently.  It's had a correction, yes, but it has not dropped nearly as much as bitcoin has from its all-time high.  If the stock market lost 90% of its value in less than a year and didn't rebound, it would be front page news all over the world.

The Dow Jones Industrial average is still above 25k (had to check on that), so the little drop it saw over the last month or so wasn't even that significant--I don't even know if you could even call it a correction.  But I do think that if we had some sort of crisis that caused stock markets around the world to tank, bitcoin would likely drop along with them.  Usually when markets sink, it's because the economy is in trouble.  When that happens, investors tend to flee to safe-haven assets like gold & silver.  Bitcoin definitely is NOT a safe-haven, so my guess is that traders would sell off bitcoin just as quickly as they would their stocks.

Yet I stick with my assertion that such a correlation does not have to be true.  Bitcoin obviously dropped a hell of a lot on its own, and thus it isn't necessarily tied to the stock market's performance.
7328  Other / Meta / Re: Reporting Member sandy_is_fine FOR Spamming (Please Ban Her Moderator) on: March 27, 2019, 01:14:23 PM
I bet she harms innocent kids that's walking to school because she thinks those kids are Skeptical One.
Eh, I think you're being somewhat hysterical here and that tends to undermine your argument.

If I'm not mistaken (and it's possible I'm confused with usernames), sandy-is-fine is a bit of a hothead--and since he/she didn't tag you personally, it's not your fight and you can always just ignore this user if you don't like what they have to say.  Don't know who Skeptical One is, but I've heard of them, and it does seem likely that sandy-is-fine has gone off on a paranoia binge.  Some of the feedbacks left are duplicates, and it almost looks like trust page trolling.

In any case, there isn't much you can do about it, and as has been pointed out moderators aren't going to lift a finger for you.  Just put sandy-is-fine on ignore and move on.
7329  Other / Meta / Re: What can I do about possible merit abuse? on: March 27, 2019, 04:05:12 AM
in some cases it was done just minutes before they apply.
I'd say you're definitely right in assuming this, because we all know the lengths people will go to in order to get into a new campaign.  It isn't like the good old days when there were multiple new ones starting every week.

The only thing I'd recommend is checking a suspected merit abuser's most recent earned merit--specifically, look at the post(s) that got merited.  You're the manager and I know very well you know what a good post is so if something looks fishy to you, just reject them.  If someone got merited for a shitpost, and especially if the merit sender is low-ranked and not well-known, there's a very good chance it's a merit sale.  You're not obligated to accept anyone anyway, and you don't have to give a reason.

The pain in the ass part is that you'd still have to spend time checking people's posts before accepting them, but I think to prevent cheaters from getting in, it's necessary.  It also shouldn't take too much time, because if someone bought merits it's not very likely that person has a long merit history.  Good luck and it's awesome you're still adhering to high standards.
7330  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the global currency cannot be 100% internet based and if we will have one on: March 26, 2019, 11:35:31 PM
I don't think any currency that doesn't have some sort of physical representation would work in the long-term.  What happens when the internet goes down?  How about if the electric grid collapses?  People are going to have to have a way to spend their money, and there has got to be something that doesn't depend on electricity.  How do you think people are getting by in Venezuela during the blackouts?  They're using US dollars from what I've heard, and my guess is that citizens have those dollar coins that the US mint makes that never get used in their country of origin.

Bitcoin is great for what it is, which is a bank-less, government-less way to transact with low fees.  What it isn't is the go-to currency during times of crisis.

I definitely like the 'global currency' aspect of bitcoin and always have.  Everyone who's in a signature campaign or a bounty here is earning the same currency, and it holds value all around the globe.  That isn't true of a lot of currencies (see: Venezuela).  True, someone could make a physical bitcoin but there are problems with it, and I highly doubt anyone is going to resort to that to pay for things.  More likely, it's going to be precious metals and the like.
7331  Economy / Collectibles / Re: ZEPHER Coins (Free) | In Loving Memory on: March 26, 2019, 11:05:32 PM
May I put my name in for this?  I think it's a fantastic idea and shows the strength of this community--even if the love is confined to the collectibles section.  Smiley

Thanks.
7332  Other / Meta / Re: How recognized are you in the bitcointalk world? on: March 26, 2019, 10:48:43 PM
On that basis maybe all trust should be added, both positive and negative, to establish all the really "recognized" members.
Hmm.  That's not a horrible idea if you're looking at 'recognition' as a neutral term, but I'm not sure Vod intended it to be that way.  I think in normal use the term actually does have positive connotations.  If someone says you're recognized in the field of medicine, it pretty much means you're famous--and not in a bad way, by any means.

And if I know Vod, I'm fairly sure he did not create this list to highlight the scammers who've been negged by 50% of the members here (that's an exaggeration, of course, but Tradefortress comes to mind).
7333  Economy / Economics / Re: North Korean dissidents selling Ethereum-based post-liberation visas on: March 26, 2019, 10:26:25 PM
I will be surprised if they can manage to really overthrow Kim Jong-un. What's next for Cheollima Civil Defense Use Bitcoin to overthrow Donald Trump?
This isn't politics, and I'm not a very politically-minded person, but Trump doesn't need to be overthrown.  That's not to say that I like him very much, because I don't.  But the thing is, he's only going to be president for a few more years at most and then he's out.  Kim?  I assume there's no term limits on a dictatorship.

Anyway, at least there's some use of the ETH network going on here, though I don't know about how useful this is going to be.  If my spidey-sense is telling me the right thing, probably not--just like most of these touted claims on the crypto news sites generally come to nothing.

I do hope N. Korean citizens can eventually get out if they want to, and I'm sure many of them do.  Contrary to what a lot of people think about Americans, there are a lot of us who can distinguish between an insane government and an oppressed people.  I've got nothing against N. Koreans.  It's the dictatorship that I'd like to see go down in flames.  And hell, I'd like to see a new US president too, while we're at it.
7334  Economy / Reputation / Re: mdayonliner - Are you the new owner of this account? on: March 26, 2019, 02:58:17 PM
How did you find this thread?
I was wondering that myself, along with how he's apparently familiar with the other two's posting style and country of origin, etc.  And yeah, for someone motivated enough it's pretty damn easy to write in a different style to try to make it look like a different person.  Plus we know mdayonliner has a motive behind trying to conceal his true identity.  All of that in addition to the other evidence should convince anyone skeptical about what's going on here.

I think the problem is he wants to be one of the big players on one of the big boy campaigns
That's always been my impression as well, and I don't think he's driven just by money.  He's motivated by a need for respect and validation, which is paradoxically why he's so vocal about telling you it doesn't matter if you don't trust him.  Starting fresh with a new account gives him another shot at a clean record--except his little quirks in writing tend to give him away each time and won't let him achieve that.
7335  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin on WhatsApp Coming on: March 26, 2019, 02:14:20 PM
Eh, this doesn't strike me as anything close to revolutionary, although it's definitely good to see crypto get some promotion this way.

What it reminds me of is when car companies were including satellite radio receivers in their cars, which gave Sirius/XM Radio investors tons of false hope about satellite radio adoption--and it didn't really take off like everyone hoped.  I've never used whatsapp, but even if everyone else does I'm wondering if people are going to find bitcoin to be useful or just a novelty.  I'm guessing they still will prefer using fiat when they have to pay for something, regardless of how convenient any company makes it to use bitcoin.  But I'll wait and see.
7336  Economy / Reputation / Re: marcotheminer - con[fidence] man on: March 25, 2019, 10:31:29 PM
Let's see.

Marcotheminer wants to gamble with other people's money in the form of loans.
He absolutely refuses collateral for these loans.
He has a history of not repaying loans on time.
In his last loan, the lender was so scared that marcotheminer wouldn't repay that he opened a scam accusation thread.
He brushes off all community concerns about his flippant behavior (in the form of comments) while being late on repayment.
He thinks somehow he's rehabilitated his reputation within a couple days of getting negged.

Those are the facts.  And it doesn't matter whether the last lender left you a positive or not--he also made the scam accusation thread that I mentioned, which was what brought attention to you.  The above facts are why you're going to have to sit with red trust on your profile, and I can only speak for myself when I say that it's going to be a long while before I reevaluate the neg I left on you.  There's no need to PM me or contact me, which you'd have a hard time doing anyway since I blocked your PMs.

And yes, you brought this on yourself.
7337  Other / Off-topic / Re: I discovered a baldness cure on: March 25, 2019, 09:16:33 PM
Eh....yeah.  To answer your question, yes there is definitely a market for a baldness cure.  There are only two medications that I know of on the market for hair loss (minoxidil and finasteride), both of which aren't completely effective and have lots of side effects.

I'm openly doubting you, however.  And without more information about what you claim, I'm going to remain skeptical in the extreme.  I also find it odd that you'd announce this on bitcointalk instead of, you know, talking to a patent lawyer or something like that.

Edit:

Along the same lines as the op I discovered significant hair growth for my self and my hair is less gray then it was.
<snip>
I don't doubt what you say, but what you did isn't a controlled study, nor would it seem to be applicable to people who don't have high A1C or don't need or can't tolerate the keto diet.  What OP seems to be claiming is a general cure for baldness, which would be a nice breakthrough in medicine as far as I'm concerned.  There hasn't been much progress in that area in a long time that I know of, though I've been out of the field of pharmaceuticals for a while.  I try to keep up with new stuff, though, and I haven't read about any new baldness treatments.

Maybe o_e_l_e_o knows more about this.
7338  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Interested in Selling Bitcoin for PayPal (Legendary Member) on: March 25, 2019, 07:49:08 PM
Still looking. HMU.
How much are you looking to sell right now?  I'd be interested in buying 0.02BTC at preev 1:1 rate ($77.96 currently), and I think we've done business together before.  *Edit: yes we did, had to check your trust page.*  Let me know if you're interested.

7339  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: March 25, 2019, 06:12:13 PM
You don't need to redpill me on Bitocin. Everyone knows it's atop the pharmaceutical industry since '09.  Grin

With the introduction of Bitocin in 2009
<snip bitcoin tablet image>
Hey, now that's a bitcoin collectible I'd love to own!  Not sure what it takes to make a custom tablet press, but it looks like someone did it (though I don't know the provenance of that photo).  Also, it doesn't look like acetaminophen/paracetamol to me, but then again neither does the pink tablet shown by cabalism13.  I guess I'm just used to seeing big, white tablets and not colored ones.

Back on topic, I found at least one idiotic shitpost in this thread.  The thread title alone lets you know it's a shitpost-magnet, and I personally cringe when I see 'pump' or 'dump' in a thread title, because those two terms are overused on bitcointalk by people way out of the context that they should be used in.  There was a particularly idiotic post in that thread that I was going to quote a few days ago, but I lost sight of it since then and the thread has grown to fourteen pages, and I'm too lazy to find it again.  Take a look; it's a bunch of parrots using 'pump' and 'dump' nonstop.
7340  Economy / Economics / Re: Would a global disaster increase or decrease the Bitcoin value ? on: March 25, 2019, 05:59:12 PM
If a global disaster would happen on earth ( And I somehow don't wish it ) Would the value increase or decrease ?

I'm not talking about solar flares or EMP. But more like big wars or great natural disaster.
These days, with our dependency on electricity and the weapons at the disposal of the big belligerents who'd probably be involved in the next world war, I don't think you can really separate war from a disaster that would cripple not only the internet but electrical grids all over the world.  So I think if a global disaster happened that took the form of world war III, bitcoin would be screwed.  If nuclear weapons are ever used again, that EMP that you didn't want introduced into this discussion would most likely happen.

Even if the grid was hacked and the electric system was knocked out, bitcoin would be essentially useless in the parts of the world that were affected.  At the very least the price would crash if a large fraction of traders couldn't trade anymore.

On the other hand, take a look at what's happening in Venezuela, which really is in crisis.  They're not using crypto on a massive scale.  From what I've seen from reports, citizens are using US dollars as currency.  So I bet that if a huge crisis were to hit a country like the United States, Americans would probably resort to using some other foreign currency that still has value.  As long as a currency is backed by a government, it still has worth.  It doesn't even matter which government it is as long as that gov't is stable and honors its debts.
