7341  Economy / Economics / Re: When will people feel comfortable using BTC ? on: July 17, 2014, 11:46:22 AM
Tech savy type should feel comfortable using it by now.

Well the tech savvy can use it but to make people feel more comfortable in general User accessibility is what is important.
Having more users feeling comfortable using Bitcoin
And having easy to access and use user accessibility is the primary goal now.
It might even be better if bitcoin was at a point that tech savvy people were not as inclined to used bitcoin as tech savvy people generally make up a minority of the population.

Minority but growing on the bright side as more of the world starts to come online and begin using the internet globally
So it is in a transition stage but at this point it makes sense to have primary accessibility for all users not just connected users.
7342  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is the p. computer i'm buying capable to mine or not ? on: July 17, 2014, 11:44:51 AM
i don't get it!
then what should i do to mine??  Huh

Sorry it is this way, but you usually just... don't. The era of mining with your computer is just gone, simple as that. If you want to buy expensive ASIC machines specialized in mining, go for it, but they are hefty investments. Just buy bitcoins if you want to be a part of it.

In summary pretty much that buy Bitcoins perhaps mine altcoins if you want to learn about mining, or reinvest in powerful hardware for Bitcoin mining IF an ROI can be reached (Big IF)
And do use mining calculators Smiley

i'm almost certain in the near future you will lease stuff; you'll get a new TV every year, or every two years, depending on your contract; the faster you want to stay up-to-date to the latest tech, the higher the fees will be.

Already exists its called rent to own
Known as easyhome here there are variants of it
http://www.easyhome.ca/electronics/tv

Lease to own but its more like pay till broke Smiley

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-11-12/new-kmart-rent-to-own-program-turns-300-tv-into-415-buy.html

Kmart is introducing a rent-to-own program charging the equivalent of 100-plus percent annual interest, a move into a business that has drawn criticism for hurting low-income consumers.

The Lease-to-Own program touts instant gratification -- customers without credit take a product home right away, make biweekly payments, then decide whether to buy out or return the product. A typical deal could turn a $300 television into a $415 purchase.

“The rent-to-own industry promises consumers the American dream of ownership,”

Consumer Reports Investigation: Would you pay the equivalent of 311 percent interest to own a big-screen TV?
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/money/shopping/rentacenter/overview/index.htm

Would you buy a $600 computer knowing that it would cost you nearly $1,900 after less than a year's worth of payments? How about a $1,000 clothes washer/dryer combination at an equivalent interest rate of 100 percent, leaving you $2,700 out of pocket after two and a half years?

Those are the types of deals you could end up with if you get your electronics, furniture, appliances, or other items from a rent-to-own store.

That's part of why I quit my plans to work with computers. One of my teachers had a little side business, he repaired computers for people. One example he gave was when the damn thing suddenly refused to start one day. In most cases it was simply the battery on the motherboard that ran dry, replacing it took 30 seconds and cost a few bucks, but he took a hundred for it.

It's tasteless and wasteful.

I agree it is tasteless and wasteful part of the problem is that if everyone does it then the prices are far above what they normally would be to repair it.

Take third world countries which try to repair everything vs the West and you see significant price differences on the same repairs to products example a pair of glasses might be $35 dollars there and here in excess of $100 +
Similar things with unlocking mobile phones Tongue
Could name a nice list custom clothing etc but there are quite a few things.

(Factoring for purchasing power parity etc.)

what the fuck................
Are they fucked in the head or what......
honestly how do they think that is ok..

don't blame the children, they are just doing what they are taught by some of the stupidest adults on earth.

What would that be don't have fun at the beach and then say hello to my little friend the Tomohawk missile while playing there
The eight young friends wandered down to Gaza City’s bombed-out harbour on Wednesday afternoon to try and escape the terrible monotony of war.

Instead, as they played on the beach, they met the full horrors of Israel’s bloody conflict with Hamas. An apparent naval bombardment left four of them dead and the rest suffering from serious wounds and shock.

There had seemed little danger as the boys scavenged for metal and played hide-and-seek around a fisherman’s container hut that lay in ruins after being a target for heavy shelling in recent days.

Suddenly, with ear-splitting ferocity, the container was on the receiving end of direct hits that killed four boys – all members of the Bakr families – and sent four others scurrying for cover.

Moments later, as they fled across the sand close to a scattering of makeshift tents, another shell struck close to where they ran, seriously injuring three from shrapnel and leaving another traumatised.

7345  Economy / Speculation / Re: 457 HOLY SHIT on: July 17, 2014, 11:27:28 AM
I don't think we're ever going to see $500 again. Or at least, not below it.

I think we need a silk road event to have us crash to just about $500, whales buy up all the cheap coins, leaving no coins on market, then its bubble time.

I thought the same, and that that event would be the Silkroad auction (well, just before knowing the results anyway).
But with that gone, I don't see any news of sorts approaching, specially now that we're kind of China-Ban-Immune...

The next silk road auction?

Unless something gets all the coins back into the hands of the few, we could easily have to wait until the next halving... :/

Unless the whales have already been accumulating, that is.

Next auction won't come until DPR's trial finishes, and that might take a while.
I think some other event such as a ETF opening will happen before that. And before the next halving.

There is always the possibility that they are able to confiscate another drug exchanges coins
The amount would probably be far less significant but if they catch a few who knows we may see another auction.
7346  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 17, 2014, 11:24:09 AM
Why would a country that doesn't care about football even host it? Lots of people here don't even know what it is. I'm lucky I come from elsewhere.

I think they want a first time Middle Eastern game to my knowledge of FIFA I don't think a game has been played in that area.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_FIFA_World_Cup
It will be the first World Cup in the Middle East.
7347  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] PETAMINE - 1,150 TH/S HASH RATE (1GH/S per Unit) on: July 17, 2014, 11:22:45 AM
please advise if I get it correct how everything goes now - as there is no reinvestment into the equipment, PETA is getting more and more behind the difficulty. as a result, dividends are to decrease towards zero, until hosting fees will exceed the income.

as I get it, share price must crash at some point right before this happens.

how else can I see it apart from it will be and end of PETA?

It will keep decreasing until the yield matches the expected network growth
That said peta is dynamic if they decide to reinvest at a later time it could easily impact the return.

You should purchase an ASIC
Application Specific Integrated Circuit these are specialized software that mine Bitcoins efficiently

If your interested in GPU mining then there is altcoins.
7349  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is anyone following the Israel & Palestine Situation. on: July 16, 2014, 07:35:21 AM
THERE NEVER WAS AND NEVER HAS BEEN A PALESTINIAN STATE IN THE PAST!

Bollocks, Palestine dates back 1000 of years, compared to Israel which was 'created' in 1948.

This it was the intervention of the major powers in the aftermath of WWII that caused this mess
And I guess it is still going on to the present day more or less as it became a mass exodus for the Palestinians of that time.

7351  Economy / Economics / Re: The light bulb conspiracy. Planned obsolescence. on: July 16, 2014, 07:30:08 AM

People tend to buy new stuff instead of repairing old stuff as well. No wonder personal debt is so high right now.

Well its because they charge exorbitantly high fees to repair it
Oh its the bulb in the Plasma tv costs more than the TV to repair best buy a new one
(For my tv it was a plug remove that plug tv runs like new again)
Sorry your hard drive and computer is whacked since it doesn't react when you press the power button best get a new one the cost to repair this is 500 dollars
(Cough dust inside the fan that wouldn't let the PC run activating the auto shut off just they made it such a pain in the ass to open)
The fridge has a broken circuit or a chip in it (but the person doesn't tell you say a 10-20 dollar fix) but is trained to tell you to replace it or pay 150 dollars for the job, or the ice tray is broken and won't run and it costs a few hundred bucks in labor for something you can do if you know how to for 10 bucks.
(Cough dust fridge was like a vacuum needs a good clean now and then, the ice tray just too much ice inside lol)

Information is money to sum it up and what you don't know costs you, it doesn't help that the prices are put at a point where a new thing seems cheaper than repairing it even if the real cost to repair it is miniscule.

Tallking of qatar hosting the world cup, all the player have to work hard for playing in a hot weather.....

Would be cool if FIFA could move it, I hope they move it to the USA. I doubt it though.
Thats not gonna happen.

What makes you so sure of that?

Nothing is sure. They would be putting the lives of football fans at risk, if they chose Qatar.

Possibly but it is fairly stable politically at least, perhaps the heat would be the most serious problem for the World Cup there.

7355  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Supervolcano in Yellowstone is going to Explode? on: July 16, 2014, 06:26:03 AM
I've heard of this apparently the roads are already starting to melt
Because the ground is hot as heck and they are closing the park and area around it so if it does explode it will be a mount saint helens event.

The last supervolcano to erupt at Yellowstone was 640,000 years ago, and this one could spew magma more than 240 cubic miles across the surrounding land.

“The chance of that happening in our lifetimes is exceedingly insignificant,” said Peter Cervelli, associate director for science and technology at the U.S. Geological Survey’s Volcano Science Center in California.

The park goes through temperature fluctuation from the underground thermal activity, but it seems to be getting worse.

Still it looks like it won't boom yet at least.

7357  Economy / Speculation / Re: 457 HOLY SHIT on: July 16, 2014, 06:20:42 AM
That was the bottom looking back or was it 380
Either way right now that position is well into the green so it makes a good mark
Above the old High score but before the next rise although Bitcoin has been sideways for a while I think were in the long run to the next price rise 200 day trendlines etc.
7358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and spending habits on: July 16, 2014, 06:16:55 AM
Amazing plan for people who can afford it, congrats on your good fortune... and your future huge fortune.  Smiley

This it takes persistence and a nice bankroll to be able to do that
A small portion here for now but when I finish off here I might do the same for now I will have to make do with what I can get
Cheers

7360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any runescapers here? on: July 16, 2014, 05:02:44 AM
I used to play runescape a lot around 2005-2010. It was pretty much my life. My parents would never let me buy membership, so I would always put $10 in a envelope and mail Jagex headquarters at night and they would give me membership. Funny story. Anyways, wouldn't it be great if Jagex accepted bitcoin? It seems like it would be a great payment option for them. Simply send bitcoins to an address, and get membership status on your account. They could use bitpay or whatever so they don't have to hold BTC.

Is there anyway I can get this going? Anyway to get a petition or something (I want to avoid those petition.org things because they seem very ineffective). Anyway of talking directly to Jagex's payment department?

I used to play runescape at that time period a long time ago
Recalls I gave my account to a kid then took it back a year later after they quit lol they still exist but I haven't logged in for years
Good memories though and having Jagex take bitcoin as a kid would have been so much more convenient since it was hard to pay for membership without a Visa.

Maybe I should play perhaps they added a free quest and brought the wildy back lol and trade limits are gone wow way out of the loop people still want chickens  and cow hides Smiley
