Do you all think that prevalent use of a protocol such as colored coins could make each bitcoin even more rare and thus drive up price beyond the theoretical future valuations we have predicted?

no, loss of neutrality would be the end of bitcoin

I believe old Queen Lizzie poking her nose around in basement of Bank of England last year was no accident and more than merely symbolic, something's up ...

I had missed that

...interesting, to say the least

7352  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: My BFL SC Single 60 went out in a puff of smoke - what next? on: January 17, 2014, 06:32:32 AM
temps are stable while it is at full speed, then temps drop with hashrate, if it was thermal I would expect dropping hash with stable temp

I think software, was hoping it was a known issue
7353  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 17, 2014, 06:06:15 AM

here is my 60 single's new trick, it will run about 12 hours at rated hash, then starts slowly dropping speed.  Used to be it took me a few days to notice because it happened slowly, now I will be under 40 in 24 hours and I am rebooting it daily.

anybody heard of this one before?

Alright damn it. I'm a dick, but I'll apologize for being one last night. Me and the wife had a horrible argument that set me off and she's the only one in this world that knows how to press my buttons. Compounding my misery last night I also had a 4TB hard drive die on my media server which caused a big headache. Then to finally sit down and apply a new shiney firmware to my miner only to not able to connect to the Guild was too much for me to handle. It was just a really bad night.

more like it

welcome back

I'm a DICK, get over it and deal with it. Ignore me.

I don't know what the deal is with everyone on the US server but I'vee been mining on it just fine for the pas 36hrs.

yes, existing connections are good, just don't reboot as the server seems to be refusing new connections
7359  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3200 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: January 15, 2014, 06:41:48 AM
There doesn't seem to be any problems with the private server which I believe is in the US.

There is a private server? Why is it private? You pay more fees or something?

Is there an ETA when we will be able to connect to the US server again?
I think we have 5 or 6 confirmed cases already.

Access to the private server is by invitation.  In the past, Eleuthria has offered access to many others during persistent DoS attacks.

So us public scum bags pay the same fees you pay but you have access to "private" servers we can't access? Nepotism at its best here. I guess the fees I pay aren't that good to get into the "private" club.

its not like that at all, he set them up when the pool was experiencing substantial DDOS attacks and pretty much lets anyone who asks (nicely) in
