7361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Electrum - How to create more Receiving Addresses? on: October 10, 2021, 12:43:25 PM
Thank you very much for that! I was searching for it long time ago.

P.S Is there any way to reduce bitcoin node stroage & data usage?
If you are talking about running a full-node, you have to download and verify the entire Bitcoin blockchain. After that, you can use pruned mode that requires only a few GBs of storage on your hard disk.

But Electrum is an SPV client, so you don't have to worry about storage limitations.
And if you decide to go for a payment processor such as BTCPay Server, you would also not be dealing with full-nodes.

Edit: While going to work, I thought about what I said. So I did some research and it indeed looks like you do require a full-node with BTCPay Server, but it comes with the installation. Sorry for giving you the wrong information initially.
7362  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I need to learn techinal Analysis? on: October 10, 2021, 10:02:32 AM
I invested in cryptocurrency in March of this year for Experimental. What I understand is that you should not invest only by reading the post or by searching Google. I should learn market analysis. Or there is another way to understand the market?
You shouldn't invest in something you know nothing about, but since you have already invested, it makes little sense to research the projects now. I hope most of your money went into Bitcoin and not some insignificant altcoin. You don't need market and technical analysis skills unless you plan to become a day trader.

You are now a holder of cryptocurrencies.
What is your goal? Do you want to hold until your coins reach a certain price to sell them?
Do you want to use Bitcoin as a payment method to purchase goods or services?
Do you want to reinvest your Bitcoin in alts (not recommended)?

It's much easier to advice you and provide recommendations if we know what it is that you want.
7363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can China Ban on Bitcoin have any negative effect on Bitcoin in future? on: October 10, 2021, 09:56:26 AM
I think there are some effect because most miners are located in China...
Not anymore. China closed down many mining facilities months before their most recent "bitcoin ban". That resulted in a huge 50% drop in hashrate, but those miners have reallocated to other countries and most of it is back up and running again.

After the announcement about the ban, Bitcoin's market value fell by 10%. But it has already recovered from that. No one can predict what the future holds and how the prices would be affected if stricter regulations are implemented worldwide. If the US were to ban Bitcoin, that would probably be a much bigger blow than what we saw with the Chinese bans.
7364  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most generous users giving merits on: October 10, 2021, 09:45:54 AM
On a finer grain detail, sMerits are refilled not on a fixed calendar day, but rather exactly 30 days (down to the second) after any given sMerit TX is made.
That's correct. The first time I saw my source merits bag fill up again at the start of the next month, I wondered why my number of available source merits kept going up in the space of a few minutes. While meriting, I usually keep an eye on how much I have available and found myself in a situation where I noticed an increase between two merited posts. We are talking about less than a minute apart. That's when I realized the thing you just mentioned.
7365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Electrum - How to create more Receiving Addresses? on: October 10, 2021, 06:55:07 AM
Have you considered using a non-custodial payment processor on your website to accept bitcoin payments?
On this list you will see both hosted and non-hosted services that you can try out.

BTCPay Server would be an obvious and recommended choice for many, but it requires a bit of time to set up.
7366  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most generous users giving merits on: October 10, 2021, 06:42:30 AM
Having said that, I'd actually not call merit source duties as their/a job, I think it's much better to say it's their own contributions to the forum. Grin
A community initiative that some applied for while others were selected for it based on theymos' own criteria and selection methods. I had out merits in a similar way as The Pharmacist does it. I just go about my business of reading and writing posts and I merit the good ones I find in the threads and sub-boards I regularly visit. That's the simplest way to do it. So far I have always succeeded in emptying my bags at the end of the month.
7367  Other / Meta / Re: Games category on: October 10, 2021, 06:32:40 AM
Just a little off-topic here, but if any games requires an initial investment, it cannot be considered as a ponzi scheme. There are millions of people who are earning good just alone from this game and this might bring a revival in gaming technology.
The problem is not the initial investment. The problem (if there really is one) could be that the rewards for those playing are paid out from the money that new players invest to purchase their in-game characters, which is a requirement if they want to play. Would existing and old players still be paid if new players didn't turn up, that's the question.

There are millions of people who are earning good just alone from this game and this might bring a revival in gaming technology.
In Ponzi schemes, those who invested early can also profit and get their money out. It all seems good and solid until the system breaks down. Anyways, this is my last comment on this subject because it's heading in a direction the original author didn't expect it to.

7369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which casinos have IP blocks in place for restricted countries? on: October 10, 2021, 06:14:39 AM
For me then it would be just fine if you do make out some updates specially there are several gambling casinos that had popped out in the market and getting quite good number of users.
Yeah, I am missing many new sites but also some of the older ones that I have listed in my other threads. I will check it out.

Most of gamblers are really that lazy on reading up TOS which it includes these kind of restrictions then it would be good if you do continue this thread
if you do really have that sufficient time.  Wink
They aren't going to get much help out of my thread if they don't show any initiative on their end. This discussion won't show them where to play and where not to. But it serves as a good reference to see how serious certain casinos are in warning and preventing players from restricted countries to register and play.

But firstly you need to remove some casino from the list while you will have the time to update it...
Yeah, that makes sense. I will check out the names in OP and remove those that shouldn't be there for various reasons.
Thanks!
7370  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most generous users giving merits on: October 09, 2021, 07:28:12 PM
But your rules at least made newbies try hard, and not create many alternative accounts.
Alternative accounts wouldn't help them because they would have to have created them before I started my thread. Because of one of the rules, you couldn't have seen the thread, created a new account, and applied in it. Only if you had the accounts before the topic was even started.

In other threads, I see that newbies from the first post go and sign messages, create topics with guides according to forum rules, encrypt messages. In your opinion, are they also newbies?
No, surely not all of them. I am not sure what checks OgNasty performs to check the users who apply in his threads, but I am sure he knows what he is doing. Otherwise the thread would be a great way to cheat your way to some quick and easy merits.

And of course, you can give merits out even to newbies participating in the bounty, so that you can be called a generous donor in the future. Smiley
I am not sure if this part of your post is directed to me personally or if it's a general comment. I have nothing against people who participate in bounties if that's not all they are doing. I dislike social media spam campaigns. But I have nothing against honest content creators, translators, art designers, etc. If done properly, that can be great stuff. But try to take part in normal conversations on the forum from time to time as well.

You are a merits source, and it would be nice to soften the rules a little to accommodate and carry along as many good members as possible, and besides, Newbies and Jr members only require 1 merit (these are the two easier ranks, getting 1 merit is very easy, and they do not need any merit giveaway thread), I would suggest you focus more on Members ranks, but at the end of the day it is your decision.  Smiley
That merit thread was started several years before I became a merit source. Back then, I wasn't. I have no intentions of re-bumping it because I am now meriting good posts as I come across them on the forum.

7372  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most generous users giving merits on: October 09, 2021, 11:02:03 AM
I was surprised to learn that the thread was started in 2018 and has only had 12 successful participants to date, and that compared to the other merits to Newbies/Jr.members threads, yours has the least amount of activity. I believe your rules killed the thread; why would any Newbies/Jr.members go through such rules for only 1 merit/post & 3 posts max. When they could create encryption and sign a message in the Ognasty thread in fewer than 24 hours, they would receive a total of 6 merits. Either the rules are not friendly enough, or the offer is too poor.
Yeah, it's the rules thing. Too many requirements, but also the fact that many didn't have anything good to share to begin with. But the rules are the reason it was allowed to remain. I think Ognasty's offers came later, and they weren't around at the time I started my thread.
7373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recover Funds from Blockchain.com Wallet on: October 09, 2021, 07:57:51 AM
Like nc50lc said, it might be an issue of your wallet not being synchronized yet.
When you open your imported Electrum wallet, there should be a ball/dot/orb in the bottom right corner. It shows the network status of the server you are connected to. What color is it? is it green, red, or blue? If it's still synching, you will see a circle with arrows.

Green means connected.
Red means not connected.
Blue signals a connection through a proxy.

If it shows arrows, let it sync. You should be able to follow the sync progress at the bottom left.
7374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is it possible, We could Bridge Bitcoin's SHA256 Blockchain to other Blockchain? on: October 09, 2021, 07:33:48 AM
But of course bitcoin is always under magnifying glass and if $0.09 goes up to $0.2 everyone goes nuts but when an altcoins fee goes from $0.06 to $90 people decide to close their eyes!
Good point.
It takes around 20 cents to transfer BTC right now according to mempool.space. At the same time it takes over $5 to send an ETH transaction. Not to mention what is required to move tokens from platforms like Uniswap and similar where more complex smart contracts are at play.

I looked up one company that said they charge you a fee to use lightning network. so we're just replacing one fee with another ?
That's not a problem with the Lightning Network, it's a problem with the company you looked up. If I ask you to pay excessive fees to route your payment, it doesn't mean that the LN is flawed. It means that I am a greedy bastard. Having said that, you are still required to pay small fees to transfer coins over LN. But we are talking about sats here.

i don't see how the lightning network would help a person that just needs to send a transaction once every blue moon.
No complaints there. It's meant for people who transact regularly. But there are also no limits I am aware of to how long a payment channel can stay open. So in theory, you can keep it open for days, weeks, months... not sure until when and transact when you need to.
7375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Merchant System Inquiry on: October 09, 2021, 07:02:45 AM
I want to know what is different between using electrum and hosting a full node (that requires bandwith and a lot of stroage)?
The difference between running a full-node and using an SPV client like Electrum is that with your own node, you check and verify the entire history of transactions from the beginning of Bitcoin. With a full node, you are just trusting someone else and you aren't doing the verification on your end.

Electrum servers can be operated by malicious parties who can find out things about you to de-anonymize you. By connecting to them, they will know the balance of all your addresses connected to that wallet, including the unused ones. They will also know your IP address and the version of your client. With a full-node, you aren't leaking that info because you are running that server.
7376  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: October 09, 2021, 06:55:33 AM
Zato mi je najjednostavnije naći dugoročnu i stabilnu kampanju i ne moram se više zamarati sa traženjem kampanja, prijavljivanjem i sl.

7377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which casinos have IP blocks in place for restricted countries? on: October 09, 2021, 06:40:42 AM
I am considering updating this thread and adding some new casinos to it. I realize that there are plenty of sites that are missing. Especially new casinos that went live after the thread was started. But before I do that, I would like to hear from the community are they even interested in reading it? Do you want to see which casinos have IP blocks in place for restricted territories that warn you that you aren't supposed to be there, or don't you care about it at all?
7378  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: October 09, 2021, 06:36:12 AM
But still you can add information for the Rollbit on your thread from your end to provide them atleast knowledge for some who cares to read them i details and as good gesture from your side.
There are plenty of more casinos that should be added besides Rollbit if I decide to update the thread. I can use my other gambling threads about faucets and withdrawal fees/minimums as source to check which casinos are missing. Or simply go to the 1st page of gambling ANNs and check those available there.

Link or it did not happen..

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Here is a link and proof that the thread did happen Tongue
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5085605.0

It was meant to be only for Newbies and Jr. Members. I expected much more activity in it, but it died out after a while. If you go through the applications, you will notice how many times I had to reject certain members because they aren't capable of reading and understanding what is requested of them.
