7361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many friends did you recommend bitcoin to? Did they accept it? on: June 30, 2015, 01:29:06 PM
I introduced about bitcoins to my 10 friends with the help of gambling on satoshimines.com. when I showed them live by playing on satoshimines and withdrawal from it. And exchanging on localbitcoin to fiat currency.

They totally believed me and get involved in bitcoin world. Now they always ask me to sell some small amount of btc to let them play on it and win some money.
actually since a lot of people are interested in gambling and nowadays there is a lot of different ways to gamble with your bitcoin, i think introducing bitcoin to somebody using a gambling website is a nice way to get them started.

But in oder to make it nicer you must show them your winnings first and an actual withdrawal.
i am not much of a gambler, which means i just do a little dice gambling here and there with so small amounts of satoshi just for the passing of time, thats all.

if i show my bankroll and winnings to my friends that i want to introduce gambling to, they will laugh at me Cheesy
7362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin was accepted everywhere would you use it? on: June 30, 2015, 01:20:36 PM
I am curious as to why and who would use bitcoin if it was accepted everywhere.

I know it would be great for everyone who has invested into bitcoin, but if it was just as accepted as money would you still be as inclined to use it?

If you have a business that involves bitcoin or you have some sort of exchange then I can see it being a great thing for demand, but why would you use it if you could just as easily use fiat money?

Transaction times are a bit too slow for mass adoption at the moment and we all here still need to get rich so it's more of an investment right now. After this I'm going to use my valuable satoshies for basically everything to stay away from controlled banking system..

How are transaction times slow? They're instant. Confirmation times don't really matter. Once you've sent your money it's as good as sent/recieved.
this is a common mistake to say transaction instead of confirmation time.

and i think that is an issue right now because a shop has to wait at least 5 minute and at worst half an hour to get confirmation (really receive the money in his pocket).

otherwise there is the risk of double spend of 0 confirmations.
7363  Economy / Economics / Re: Bank holiday in Greece on: June 30, 2015, 01:16:00 PM
but the news and reports from exchangers shows that there is an increased interest towards bitcoin by Greece people.
Bitcurex got flooded with emails from Greeks.

Quote from: money.cnn link=http://money.cnn.com/2015/06/29/technology/greece-bitcoin/
Among their questions:
"Is Bitcoin a legal currency in EU?"
"Can I use Bitcurex as a bank account?"
"Do you have a Bitcoin ATM network in Greece?"

That's actually interesting to see that some of them are looking into bitcoin. I still think bitcoin is very risky for people to put their entire money into but bitcoin could become an alternative way to store wealth outside of the mainstream and could actually save people money from crises like this.
especially when your government blocks your accounts and closes the banks so people don't have access to their own money.
but unfortunately bitcoin is not yet reached the stage that can be considered a somewhat safe investment because of the highly volatile price.
7364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Next level Bitcoin stress test -- June 29-30 13:00 GMT 2015 on: June 30, 2015, 01:12:52 PM
i think we have to wait and see at this point , maybe there are some difficulties like the last time that their server crashed.
i am really interested to see what they will achieve , and prove with this test.
7365  Other / Off-topic / Re: what you like best in Bitcoin ? on: June 30, 2015, 01:05:37 PM
The best part i love about bitcoin is that it a decentralised currency, they cannot track and analyse every move our make. Our actions can still remain private and spontaneous. It has very little collapse risk and looking at Greece, I bet they regret not adopting to the bitcoin currency when they had time. Oops.
yeah. i think the decentralized feature of bitcoin is the most obvious and worthy features these days. especially now that Greece has proven the fact that as long as your money is in the banks and controlled by the government you can not really rely on them to let you use your money.
7366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Greece's first Bitcoin ATM installed on: June 30, 2015, 01:03:30 PM
That was a very smart move made by both the finishing end parties. It will be really helpful for the Greece citizens which are powered by the bitcoin currency. It will also be a nice way to show off how decentralised crypto currency is much better than the ordinary and how it is benefiting the society real time.
yeah it was a nice move but it is not even remotely enough. people would need money to buy and since they don't have access to their money because of the banks it is going to be so hard for them.
besides one bitcoin ATM is not gonna solve anything
7367  Economy / Economics / Re: Bank holiday in Greece on: June 30, 2015, 11:57:17 AM
I agree with the part how useful bitcoin is in battling situations like these, but do you honestly think most of the Greek population even heard about bitcoin ? I doubt it.
Even tho google trends show increased interes in bitcoin, it is still far from levels it should be. Some other countries like Swiss show much more increased trending than the
country that is expected to.

And when it comes to impact on price, once again, you won't get increase from Greeks, as they have little or no money and savings, and even those
who do, are chained with limitations to their accounts.

cheers

KingAfurah, will the stress test happen today? What went wrong yesterday?

So the test failed? Or, the test will be run today?
I found the previous test quite interestng and I was expecting to see updates on this test too.
I guess I will have to wait.
it was supposed to happen today, i haven't seen any time on the reddit announcement that i first saw.
a week ago they said it is going to happen yesterday, and then it was postponed 1 more day for today.
7369  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies, how much bitcoin do you have, and how did you get it? on: June 30, 2015, 04:38:18 AM
...how much are you making monthly with how much capital? ....
you sound like IRS Cool

i was thinking about getting into trading at some point; .... also, any good resources to recommend to start reading up on trading?
there was a website, don't remember exactly the name but something like trading school or academy, you can learn the basic stuff there. i mostly used google, by searching different stuff and reading a lot. also hanging around in the altcoin/speculation/... places to get the hang of some stuff.

I think he is just greedy, he wants to know how much you earn.

I think its called KhanAcademy, they teach nice economic lessons there. Its a nonprofit organization all for free.

im asking him because profit from trading, I would assume, largely depends on the amount traded as well, if youre trading with 5 dollars, you'd be making a lot less than if you were trading multiple currencies with $1000. im asking because I want to know how much I should set aside if I were to get into trading for an expected income. why are you assuming everyone on here is some sort of bitcoin kleptomaniac?

also, its good to see khan academy expanding into su many subjects, last time I checked out the site I was still in high school and was just using it to learn calculus.
i was just kidding about the IRS thing Cheesy
but if you want to start trading and haven't done that before i'd say you start with the minimum amount possible. because if you start big then your losses will be big too and that will cause you to give up.
after a while that you get comfortable enough, you can increase the investment.
the amount you invest totally depends on you and how you can profit from the market, it can be from 0.1BTC to 100BTC for profiting.
7370  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: paying no transaction fee on: June 29, 2015, 01:24:24 PM
Cmon be generous, a fkin 10.000 satoshi is dust guys, you can earn it back in about 5 minutes from faucets.

Be generous and donate to the miners, so always send with fee Smiley
yeah, 10000 satoshi is nothing when you convert it to fiat. but for newbies who are using faucets mostly and earn small dust amounts themselves, even 10000 satoshi is going to be alot because you have to visit at least 10-15 faucets to earn that much.
7371  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transferring btc to bank account? on: June 29, 2015, 01:09:30 PM
i suggest you keep your bitcoins in your Electrum wallet, and remember to encrypt your wallet for extra security. the bitcoin price is at a good stage and will most probably go higher and you can earn a good profit.
7372  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can I invest? on: June 29, 2015, 12:58:42 PM
there is not bulletproof investments site all turn out as scams you better try your luck on dice games
not all investments are scams, you might be thinking of ponzi "investments," which are unsustainable and eventually end up to be a scam. you might want to try investing in a dice site's bankroll, which is essentially +EV in the long run, and should net you some money.

Don't call Ponzi schemes "scams." People know ahead of time exactly what they're doing. It's a gamble, not a scam.
Ponzi schemes all have obvious endings. to think of it as a gamble you need to keep in mind that your odds of winning is almost 0 in some cases.
7373  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which wallet program? on: June 29, 2015, 12:53:18 PM
Blockchain.info wallet is has my trust but it's uptime is questionable. It can be down for hours when you most need it and I would NOT recommend it to newbies any more.

Electrum is my favourite client because it is stable, easy to backup and restore and it is a SPV wallet which means no need to download the huge blockchain. You can send coins immediately on open (may be half a minute to sync to be exact).

Xapo is another wallet I am trying out recently. Don't like that I do not control my priv keys and it doesn't give me the transaction id and other detailed info. It is very usable to store small amounts on mobile phones and it charges zero transaction fee.
i use blockchain.info too but it was always accessible for me and never had any issue with it, i guess i am just lucky.
Xapo and wallets like that are worse that bc.i because you don't have access to your private keys and you put 100% of your trust in their service.
the only good option is Electrum that you mentioned because it is small and fast, and you can trust it if you don't mind about staying 100% anonymous.
7374  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it worth to mine with my old computer on: June 29, 2015, 12:48:27 PM
Mining with the old computer doesn't worth. Even 1 year old doesnt worth if you dont have a good gpu.

Even you have excellent rigs you will never got profit at the moment, the diff are increased minutes by minutes day by day, also as i said above, current decent bitcoin price its so hard to get any profit.

Yeah i know unless you have a good gpu(s), there is no profit.
but it is still possible to mine some new altcoins that have low difficulty still. but you have to search for them to find them as they are new and nobody is mining them so you can be the first.
7375  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: June 29, 2015, 12:37:57 PM
Ah man you totally spinned my words.

Look DUB made today a big rally into 490 satoshi, from 210 satoshi, that was a double your investment in about 60 minutes.

Now its 200 satoshi again, so it will get pumped again soon, its always good to buy cheap then regret later lol

https://yobit.net/en/trade/DUB/BTC

Most coins get pumped once then go nowhere but down forever.

Don't buy alts right before a pump, try buying before pump happens
Yes so that you can less or you can by an altcoins or any coins, because after it pumped its price goes up, and if if you wait or you just dumped your coins until the price goes up or its enough to sell it. then sell your coins.
just remember not to buy into an altcoin after the pump, youhave to either buy before the pump at the lowest price possible or better yet, you can buy as the price is rising so you can hop on the train to the top.

I just prefer buying at the lowest price, but always  checking if the dev is still around. You dont want to hop into a train that will derail lol.
who cares about the dev lol.
i mean it is sometimes important that the coin has a nice dev and it can contribute to the coin's growth but the only important thing is buy support.
7376  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buy Bitcoin on: June 29, 2015, 12:36:14 PM
Blockchain Is Not Trust Site??  Shocked
it is a good online wallet but not good enough to keep your coins there.
if you have a good internet connection and downloading 40 GB is not an issue, use bitcoin-core or Armory.

else use Electrum for storing your bitcoins. it is lightweight and you need to download <40 MB one time and small size receiving afterwards.
7377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which is the best Investment Option for Bitcoins? on: June 29, 2015, 12:05:24 PM
I can think of few things to invest your coins but my best pick would be trading. Cloudmining is not an option here as it is just way too risky. Maybe you can go buy profitable sites on flippa or something. Or invest in a project that's with a good ROI and good plans, guaranteed long term if you're up to that kind of investment. As for me, I'm fine with trading on ecoin.eu but whatever suits you best.

Isn't trading just as risky though? For the little gains to be made it doesn't seem worth the hassle and keeping coins on an exchange is always risky in itself.
every sort of investment has its own risks and rewards, the important thing is the risk and reward ratio.
trading is not little gain if you know what you are doing. but it always has the risks associated with it and there is nothing to do about them.
7378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Volatile Bitcoin still isn't money on: June 29, 2015, 11:59:22 AM
well bitcoin's volatility would be suppressed if many people will accept and use it like money
more or less, bitcoin will be just considered like an investment. like stocks
bitcoin is an investment as long as it is volatile but it can not be considered an investment anymore if the price was fixed. like stocks if you know that the price is fixed there is no reason to "invest" in it.
the only way that will be left is to use it as a currency and look at it like USD or anything like it.
7379  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoins sent destination on: June 29, 2015, 11:55:27 AM
it is better to include the tx id of the transactions that you have found, this way others can give better answers seeing the tx.
anyways, it is very hard to know who any bitcoin address belongs to unless they announce it somewhere like for example putting it on a forum.
7380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding how bitcoin works is IRRELEVANT on: June 29, 2015, 11:30:37 AM
bitcoin is complicated concept for some people to accept. i say this from experience, since i try to explain it to my friends and coworkers sometimes. i mostly find out that they don't care about the technical stuff and find it hard to understand, so they stay away.
