As a result of a discussion on the Serious Discussion board, I managed to pick up XBTkiosk.com for $6.69. BitcoinKiosk.com is being offered for sale at $6,817. These two new boards are starting to become really useful venues in my opinion.

My New Year's resolution was to stop chasing other people's concepts, but I liked your XBT keyword. I've just picked up XBTkiosk.com for reg fee, and BitconKiosk.com is for sale at $6,817, so I'm grateful for the suggestion. btw 88xbt.com dropped 18 days ago.

It is in a gold rush phase as you mention, the seven figure sum for xbt.com is just a starting price, it can be higher. Even my 8xbt.com and freexbt.com with several countries+bitcoin.com receive many offers.
That's interesting. I've got some Bitcoin names like BitcoinUncovered.com, BitcoinVirus.com, BitcoinScammer.com and probably a couple of dozen others, but I haven't received any offers for them. This is probably because I have privacy enabled, and I have put them intany active market places. I didn't pick up any XBT names, as there seems to be a bit of confusion about the international code to be used. XE and various other sites use XBT, so that is probably the best, But the Bitcoin community seems to use BTC, although Bitcoin Cash has caused abit ofconfusion with this. It looks as if I might have missed out on this. There are 36 posts in the Ivory Tower, and 31 post it this thread which is talking about it. Just in case you don't know where the board is - it's here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=251.0The board is sig free, so you can read and post there without choking on the sig smoke that clouds the frog pond ( known by some as the discussion board ).

Signature campaigns only improve post quality if posted are paid by results - signups or sales for example. Just flying a banner fr a product that the poster has never used, and probably never will encourages volume, loe quality posting. I don't understand why campaign managers think that helps their products. In most cases it makes me think - That's a product to avoid if he is promoting it.

It's probably worth supporting if it helps to preserve a free and independent press.

There area lot of local differences and restrictions, Some won't allow FTP, and some will with limitations. The Bitcoin port 8333 is often blocked for inbound and outbound, but sometimes outbound connections are allowed. not all SSL certificates are supported, and there is often censorship by domain name.I hope to put together a review and report site.
I think running a VPN might be useful for education purposes. I've also started to read about IPFS, and this may be something we will have to use in the future.

Those images don't do anything for the thread, and they just made me close it without reading anything. They are also really annoying if you are using a mobile, and I would probably block the user if I was likely to use that board.

|

So why aren't people using the new boards? Surely it can't be because they can't show their signatures,or increase their post counts.

I might be prepared to add a 2Tb HDD to the network, but I'm not sure if that would help much. It would probably be useful for my education though.

Not many if you define a "unique user" as someone who has an original opinion, and isn't just repeating other people's ideas

Well at least it is in the local boards. I'm surprised that "KFC accepts Bitcoin" hasn't appeared across them.

I've got a bit of a psychological block about entrusting my wallet to a third party. It's probably paranoia setting in in my old age. Core doesn't seem to give me any problems, and, if I learnt how to use it properly, I gather it gives me some great facilities. I wondered about running the connection through a remote server, and that could get over the problem of some WiFi providers blocking port 8333. The suggestions by Theymos seem to be worth exploring, especially if I can set up a Raspberry Pi, or an Asus tinkerbord to run a VPN. This could also give me the chance to run something like Wireshark to monitor the traffic.

I haven't been able to find a good informed discussion about Crypto related domain names, so I hope this is a good place to start one. I must declare a vested interest here as I have about 40 .com names at the moment, and I'm letting some xyz names drop shortly.
Bitcoin is an interesting phenomenon, and it has certainly caused a major revolution in the banking world. There has been considerable debate about the creation of Bitcoin, and one current theory that seems to be gaining traction is that it was created by globalist bankers, and it is a beta test for a new world currency. However, this thread is not about the creation of Bitcoin, but about the changes in the value of crypto domain names as new products are created, and as they gain popularity. We have seen a dramatic rise in the value of good Bitcoin names, and XBT.COM is current on offer for a seven figure sum. We have also seen a gold rush into crypto names, and the subsequent dropping of many of the names registered during the state of euphoria.
We now seem to be entering a new phase in the crypto currency world. With government backed creations like the Royal Mint Gold blockchain, and the Venezuelan Petro.I think there is scope for investment in selected names to help prospective users to understand the ramifications of the new issues. Bitcoin is maturing, and it looks as if it may become a mainstream store of wealth. This will create a need for more investment advice in the future.
What do you think of the current crypto domain name market? Are we still in a gold rush phase, or is the market stabilising with limited investment possibilities?

Someone has got to say it - the real people are in the Ivory Tower.

I don't know whether this is good news or bad news. The domain that I mentioned in one of the threads in the Ivory Tower (RMG blockchain.com ) has just been listed on Sedo by some front-running scammer. The name is not for sale anywhere, so nobody has the right to take money for it. It shows that the threads there are being read, and people are acting on the information in the posts.

I vote that girl should join us for some serious discussions. I don't mind if it's in the ivory tower either.

OK here is my suggestion.
Change the discusson board to " The Frog Pond" Change serious discussions to a simple " Bitcoin discussions" Change the Ivory Towwr to " In depth discussions"
