7381  Other / Archival / Re: Litecoin addresses beginning with a Q? on: August 31, 2018, 10:26:04 AM
I know so many situations when people have so different addresses with Litecoin, I consider that it depends on the time when you got this ones for using, maybe there was changing after this. But I could be wrong here, it needs to find more information to be sure for everything.

Changing? What sort of changing?
7382  Other / Meta / Re: Copper membership on: August 30, 2018, 10:31:54 PM
Good day everyone,

I have question regarding to copper membership.
It's ok to do partial for the copper member payment?
Copper member cost is 0.0017btc and when i created this account i pay for an evil ip which is 0.00031btc.
I'm wondering if, It would reflect to my account even i pay only half of the amount for the mean time, and to be follow the rest ?

Thank's and regards.

I paid 0.002+ for mine so the 0.00031 has already been subtracted. Presumably, any extra amount you pay will also be subtracted. I'm curious to know if the address for the copper membership is the same as the one you paid for the evil fee?
7383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 14 connections but node "not reachable"? Whats the cause of this? on: August 30, 2018, 08:25:11 PM
Hello Bitcoiners,

i run a full node with 14 connections at the moment, so i share the blockchain to other peers. port forwarding in the router is enabled.

Total connections is a bit of a useless figure.
Usually this would happen that it doesn't show up on bitnodes due to bitnodes being faulty or the port not being opened. Also, if your core sin't synced, there will be no incoming connections? Is there a bar at the bottom that says you're a certain amount of time behind (few years/months)?
7384  Other / Meta / Re: Can we stop polls being made in certain parts of the forum? on: August 30, 2018, 07:46:21 PM

Another users who's almost certainly just been told by someone they can earn here and they literally have no fucking clue what to do. He'll be on a signature soon and be getting paid for this crap.

I'm guessing a lot of his posts have been deleted already since he registered almost 4 months ago and is now on 2 posts/activity, you'd think they'd learn a bit faster. I'm not sure if it is that user but a newbie last month posted the same sort of thing "I'm new around here, can someone elighten me" and it gives you nothing to respond with as it's so unspecific.

No doubt he'll move to spamming the altcoin section for airdrops in no time...
7385  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: August 30, 2018, 05:27:52 PM
just a quick question: is it possible to deposit 4x 0.001 BTC in single transactions in one mix session to the same deposit address and receive one 0.004 BTC chip then? or has it to be 0.004 btc in one transaction in order to get a chip?

You can, just don't go to step three where you get the keys before your coins have all confirmed (just in case you end up losing an input or something).
7386  Other / Meta / Re: [img]http:// / [img]https:// on: August 30, 2018, 03:45:06 PM
I have a feeling it was somthing to do with the forced https that meant that, before then, random threads were not ssl protected and were sent without any encryption on them. I might be wrong but it seems pluasible, just try replacing http with https (if you can't, put it in imgur or another site that supports https).
7387  Other / Meta / Re: Is anyone having error 504? on: August 30, 2018, 03:37:19 PM
The copies would need to be encrypted kind of like freenet style, and it decrypts as you log in.. the passes could be hashes that check in the blockchain so it's like keeping your private keys from bitcoin safe... just throwing in some ideas.

It could probably be done but im not a good enough coder to actually get it working. I would wait until we have sidechains, I don't really see people throwing in electricity for a PoW that only servers this forum, we need to take advantage of the BTC blockchain hashrate.

Too complicated so for now we'll have to deal with the ddosers the oldschool way.

I could probably do quite a bit of the signatures stuff. The transmission would be what I struggle with though but that could already be sampled from the regular core.
As for the proof of work, that would be done whn you post, each post is a block and y'all get the score (or it could even be each topic is a block, you download the block, sign your new block, verify the entire block after checking the signatures of all the transactions/posts inside of that block/thread)...
7388  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Contest with $30,000 in GUARANTEED PRIZES now live! on: August 30, 2018, 02:11:46 PM
The wagering contest for the month of August will be ending soon, but it seems that the winner on the 1st place of the previous wagering contest is not wagering big amount this month, the user ID of the winner in the previous wagering contest is 14107731, but I didn't see him taking up any spots yet in the top 10 players for this month wagering contest, I was thinking if he will appear and start to wager huge amount of money before this month wagering contest ends or will we see a new player winning this month big prize for the 1st place.

Unless he/she is addicted to gambling then they may gamble every day and month. But he may be thinking that whatever he has got lost month may be good enough and may come back sometime later. If you play or wager dice game more and more then finally people lose more than they get. Good luck to the people who are competing this month.

There are not many gamblers that stop while they're ahead and hit the withdraw button but this one did.

That would take a rediculous amount of control to do, they must have had a good lucky streak and thought it wasn't going to continue or something.

The highest wager is even higher than last month at about 114BTC (I'm surprised it's not higher though)...
7389  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to send Bitcrystals from Elecrtum wallet? on: August 30, 2018, 12:57:20 PM

It was me(/op indirectly) who said it was and tbh I haven't actually heard of them but all I knew is that it's a shitcoin so I'm not going to waste much time on searching them.

I found enough to find their site and their wallet and if he does actually have the funds and a way to retrieve them then he will be able to, else, he has porbably lost this one unless he can contact their team for help.
7390  Other / Meta / Re: Bounty stats by rank+possible security issue on: August 30, 2018, 12:20:09 PM
I doubt that will change, it seems like it will makethe forum bery centralised unless you say "everyone with more than x good reports can be a campaign manager" or something but then you might have to look into permabanning everyone who doesn't have the accreditation to be a manager which seems slightly mean (although it woudl work)...
Yep. So, maybe we should look at adding rank restrictions in the bounty section. Only the bounty section. The other altcoin sections are probably fine. Most of the spam is coming from those wearing bounty signatures anyway. Well, if we are ignoring the bumping services that have plagued that section.

Not to mention the "great project" spam that appears in the altcoin announcements section...

I'd suggest removing signatures, avatars and personal text altogether wouldn't be a bad idea...
7391  Other / Meta / Re: Is anyone having error 504? on: August 30, 2018, 12:17:20 PM
Apparently there is a new .onion format that is very improved and works faster. But still, all the encryption and so on will always make things slower than clearnet. So this default slowness will make things as bad when ddos'd or even worse (even if ddossed have a harder time ddossing, it will still be effective)
Tor runs quite quickly on my computer.
My internet history is very long on firefox so when I put it to connect through tor it doesn't slow down very much.

The solution is most likely a blockchain based forum. Perhaps with sidechains somehow we can use BTC's blockchain to host a forum? who knows. I just hope it doesn't require javascript. Cloudfare forces javascript and then add the google catpcha. Not good.
I don't think theymos likes to hand out copies of the forum (as it opens up the potential for the site to gain phishing attempts).
The login stuff would still need to be done by the loginserver otherwise there would be a lot of issues (unless we get masternodes that moderators and legendaries can have which can allow users to autehnticate their way onto the website)...
All of the core devs also seem to have ditched bitcointalk so I'm not sure how kindly they'd take to a suggestion of hosting it.
7392  Other / Meta / Re: Is anyone having error 504? on: August 30, 2018, 11:06:14 AM
It might be easier to make a dark web sersion of this site (.onion) so that we can access it during ddos attacks although I'm not sure whether that would work very well (having two instances of the same software/systems).

.onion is even worse for DDoS attacks because the clients are all anonymous, so you can't ban abusive IPs. That's why I haven't created a .onion, even though it would be very easy to do.

Tor needs to address this somehow. I've mentioned some ideas in the past.

Ahh, I thought that the .onion versions of sites are generally a bit stronger as people are then limited to the speeds that tor can function at, meaning people that are further away from the DDoSers should be less affected by it (although I'm probably wrong).

And yes but I sense they're unlikely to do major updates of the system anytime soon, which is a shame, they'd also then have to start tracking people somewhat...
7393  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to send Bitcrystals from Elecrtum wallet? on: August 30, 2018, 10:58:15 AM
Have you tried putting your private keys that hold the bitcrystals into here: https://bitcrystals.com/products-services/wallets/book-of-orbs/

(take off all other forks before you do that though).

I'm not entirely sure how bitcrystals work but that looks like the best option...

(NOTE, I HAVE NO DIRECT CONFIDENCE WITH THAT SITE, USE WITH CAUTION).
7394  Other / Meta / Re: Bounty stats by rank+possible security issue on: August 30, 2018, 10:52:09 AM
when talking about campaign managers, actually Pugman has given instructions which managers are worthy of being employed.

obviously, this problem is not just the campaign manager and the participants but the campaign owner is also involved in this.

The thing is we all know who the capable managers are, and the best ones for spam control, and all that. However, the teams behind the projects that want the advertisements don't usually care for the forum. They just want their advertisement to have as much exposure as possible. Unfortunately the promise of free money usually gets them what they want. Currently, there's no restrictions on who can become a signature manager, and until that's changed we'll continue having this issue.

I doubt that will change, it seems like it will makethe forum bery centralised unless you say "everyone with more than x good reports can be a campaign manager" or something but then you might have to look into permabanning everyone who doesn't have the accreditation to be a manager which seems slightly mean (although it woudl work)...
7395  Other / Meta / Re: Is anyone having error 504? on: August 30, 2018, 12:04:12 AM
Why don't you work on that after you're done with he new forum? I've always though cloudflare was crap. If something better can be made then I'm sure you could make a business out of it, or at the very least the forum would benefit.

It's not my main area of interest, so I might never get around to it.

If I was interested in that, what I'd do is create an open source project which would basically replicate Cloudflare (plus improvements) by using your own AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc. account. So you'd download the open source script, give it your cloud-provider credentials, and it'd set it all up for you, maybe even including a nice Web interface. It would create a small CDN of a few very-lightweight instances spread across the world, and automatically spin up more instances in the correct regions when the existing ones are overloaded. The instances would reverse-proxy your site, cache appropriately, keep track of IP reputation, sometimes insert challenges, etc. Costs would probably be higher than the cheaper Cloudflare plans, but much cheaper than Cloudflare Enterprise.

Also, that this sort of need exists shows that the Internet is fundamentally broken. PoW should be part of TCP, not a janky hack which requires hiding behind huge networks and probably accepting a MITM.

It might be easier to make a dark web sersion of this site (.onion) so that we can access it during ddos attacks although I'm not sure whether that would work very well (having two instances of the same software/systems).

We should have a new BIP where bitcoin nodes broadcast bitcointalk topics and the site instead of using the main server so that people can put in "bitcointalk.org" and access their closest node Grin.
7396  Other / Off-topic / Re: PC Ram Upgrade on: August 29, 2018, 11:18:12 PM
I bought an ASUS VivoPC Mini VM65N with 8GB Ram. I want to know if i can upgrade it to 32GB? I want to use the pc for staking coins.

How would we know?

On that note, Kingston made a helpful tool which says it can take a maximum of 16GB https://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search?DeviceType=2&Mfr=ASU&Line=VivoMini&Model=96329

I couldn't find the exact one though...
7397  Other / Meta / Re: Bounty stats by rank+possible security issue on: August 29, 2018, 11:02:05 PM
This is a well known issue and someone was actively previously contacing managers and posting information publicly in order to get them to comply and remove users' emails from their spreadsheet.

It is interesting to see the number of higher ranked members in those campaigns, it would be interesting to see how their post quality is actually reflected by being in those ampaigns if they're joining bounty campaigns instead of more permenant campaigns with a fixed pay (as I undersatnd it, the people in campaigns enter some sort of pool and get a "share" of the entire pool based on the number of entries they have in it).
7398  Other / Meta / Re: Is anyone having error 504? on: August 29, 2018, 10:01:29 PM
I was being redirected to the cloudflare site earlier with the static version on it...

As far as i have heard that this is one of the methods how hackers could gain acces to information which is stored to server..? like passwords.
Also as others have mentioned before, it could be an attemt to extort webpage owners if the server or admin cant handle the attack.

Yes, I think Theymos is too intelligent to fall for ddos attacks. Now i'm getting the hashcash redirection initially also (I think it's hashcash anyway).

Crypto related email addresses sell like hotcakes on the black market (as far as I understand it anyway). And if you can login to one, you can reset someone's password if you can't get it from the forum. Equally people have hashed passwords stored on this forum but there are certain ways to find some peoples' passwords if they're particularly weak.
7399  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Guides for building miners out of bitfury chips? on: August 29, 2018, 09:15:52 PM
You should reach out to sidehack. I'm pretty sure this is the sort of thing they are into.

I recall them discussing that they were buying chips from somewhere, presumably to do something similar.

Yeah I was thinking about that! Form what I remember he was building hashing boards for S1-S4 so I wasn't sure he was as confident with the coding knowledge that would be needde (although I could buy a control computer for an S1 or something).
7400  Bitcoin / Mining support / Guides for building miners out of bitfury chips? on: August 29, 2018, 05:30:12 PM
I see there are chips for sale from bitfury and I'm curious as to make something from them as I want to make something that covers quite a large volume (in comparison to normal miners)... I have a couple of raspberry pi's and old computers that I could dedicate to connect them to it to keep them running, but I'm not sure of any guides that are available for making such devices.
