Congrats to all top hall of famers IQ people on the list. I wonder how many of those in the list didnt use any guide such as Google or reference to complete answers questions being shown yesterday.

Can anyone on the list raised their hand to say that he didnt tease answer from searching it and will definitely applaud for his cool brain for knowing lots of answers to some very hard questions.

I would love if theymos give us some prizes (for the top 10 in Hall of Fame)  Wink
Gratz dude. Being in the list is already an honor, but who knows maybe theymos got something for you guys.

i got a 141 i searched 1 answer.  i also stopped posting as i did not want to search for answer

What would you recommend for a cheap Water cooling miner? I want to heat my house with them.
S9 hydro  costs way more than S9.

Right now my best bet is adding water blocks to my S9, but it gets expensive fast.

s9 two board with brains  os is really quiet and cheap.

you can set watts for 900 for three boards and just leave two boards in it.

it will do 600-630 watts

you can run a corsair rm850x psu

it’s quiet and will just run.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08R5JPTMZ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?

If you use braiins os you can run 1 fan not two.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/265606296243?

so you have a pretty quiet 600 watt heater maybe 135 for the psu and 200 for the s9 335 total

I might have exactly that rig in my garage. Let me know I can look for it.

I am usa based.
7384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig burning smell! on: April 02, 2022, 02:04:27 AM
if you are usa based look for this pair.

https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=220-GP-1300-X1

1300 watts each for the evga and they will allow a constant 950-1050 watts each

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-rmx-series-rm1000x-80-plus-gold-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-black/6459246.p?skuId=6459246

these corsair will allow 800 watts each

Since you want to move to 12 cards I would look for the evga as they have more over head.

if you order direct from evga website here is a 10% code

Using Associate Code (VDN2319M4O569J4)

so 200 + 200 = 400 - 40 = 360 plus tax and free shipping.

pretty much should be what you need.

Note that code does not belong to me.

it is this guy's.  https://forums.evga.com/Profile/4067763/      enewt

I am this guy on evga.  philipma1957

this is my referral code for viabtc.com

https://www.viabtc.com/signup?refer=257609

or no referral code.

https://www.viabtc.com/signup?

open an account with them point one miner and see if it works.

use pps+ payment plan.

you do not need to use my referral. you can use the second link.

a smart miner has multiple pools that they know work.

pool =         stratum+tcp://btc.viabtc.io:3333

worker =      youraccountname.0001

password =  x

.0001 first avalon
.0002 second avalon
.0003 third avalon

try the gear at ckpool
try the gear at viabtc

let us know if they work.

so on and so forth.

let us know if it works at viabtc.

7388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig burning smell! on: April 01, 2022, 01:31:33 AM
yeah a 2000 watt atx psu can not do 2000 watts 24/7/365

my guess is you pushed the psu too hard. Most 2000 watt atx psu are shitty fake chinese crap.

even a really good expensive 1600 watt atx like the EVGA 1600g or 1600p or 1600t can do maybe 1300 watts 24/7/365 or 75-80%

a cheap 2000 watt chinese garbage atx will do around 1400 watts for a while. and 1000 watts for a long time.

let us know the make and model of your psu and how much power you did on it.  I am giving thanks for your follow up in advance.
7389  Other / Meta / Re: IQ testing now required before posting on: April 01, 2022, 01:18:48 AM
We should actually implement this.
I think something like this could be a good optional learning tool for learning a bit more about Bitcoin. I know the intention isn't at all serious, obviously. However, I know that theymos' was interested in doing some sort of Bitcoin course, and tying it into the forum. Although, doing something like this which caters to Bitcoin questions, and having a way for users to compete or compare scores, could promote some users to gain some knowledge, even if they were googling the answers, they'd likely learn something.

We could basically offer some learning to users, when they would be posting anyway, and providing a leaderboard of some kind would likely motivate certain users. Obviously, making it optional, and doesn't impact the forum in any real way. Think it could be fun, without other too many downsides.

I like it so far I got all correct but I had to google one to be sure.

Well another epoch completes. Looks like it was about +3.7% increase in difficulty. Unfortunately BTC price was unable to hold and have now fallen back to $45,706.

and a 3.7% diff jump.  so not terrible.

7391  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Anyone recommend an ATX powers supply for an Antminer with 1 or 2 cards? on: April 01, 2022, 01:11:20 AM
Thanks, i presume BRAINS is software for the S9, i use Slushpool and have never used it tbh....

Another question which i think i need to start a new thread on is what is the best position for the boards when you have bank 6, 7 and 8.

I find ALL my S9's fail on board/bank 8 (furthest away from pcie connection on control board).

I also don't think placing them in banks 6 and 8 with a missing board in the middle would be better??

Anyone checked this, i have searched but no answers.

Thanks for advice, much appreciated.

The center boards get the least air so they should fail more..  I have found they all pretty much fail any way they want to.  But I only had about 50 s9's with under 10 bad boards.

well this was a lot better than the covid virus joke.

my 3 iq scores are :

 139 23 years old 1980
 147 16 years old 1973
 151 12 years old 1969

they got lower as I got older. Most likely all the weed I smoked from 1972 to 1990 Grin

I wonder what I would do on one now?

Happy April Fool's day.
7394  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 30, 2022, 10:02:38 PM
What happened to the big blockers BTW?

No one seems to talk about big blocks anymore... Have they all seen sense?

bcash LOL is #25 on CMC, trading at under 1/10 of its ATH <--- LOL indeed!  Cheesy

Pedocoin BSV is #63, trading at under 1/4 of its ATH... Such wow!  Kiss

Serves them well. They thought they were so smart and wanted to change the code... Suck your forks now, you fuggs! There's a reason Satoshi set an upper limit on block size.

yeah so LN could come in and turn btc into a pos hybrid coin.

we are yet to see if LN will damage or save BTC .

2024 = 3.125 btc a block
2028 = 1.5625 btc a block
2032 = 0.78125 btc a block

now I am not saying btc simply rises in price fixing the miners profit issues.

I am saying we don't know if the LN will save btc and its scaling issues over the next 10-16 years
7395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Do I have to buy new Motherboard on: March 30, 2022, 01:16:23 PM
I have a motherboard that was specifically for crypto mining with 6 slots available and I have 9 GPUs Nvidia GTX 1660, how can I use these graphic card on a motherboard with just 6 PCIe slots available?
The best thing to do is build the first farm for 6 video cards, and buy a second motherboard for other video cards. Then you can buy any video cards of the 1000-3000 series.
Inexpensive motherboards for 8-12 video cards
https://aliexpress.ru/popular/b75-motherboard-mining.html
pretty much this is what he should do.

At op are you usa based?

I have some empty mobos with psu's ready to run.
7396  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 265 blocks solved! on: March 30, 2022, 02:51:01 AM
Having multiple workers does not increase or change odds for mining.

I word reword that a bit as having "multiple workers" may not increase your chance but adding multiple workers that result in an increased your hashrate would in fact increase your odds.  Wink

Well how about having 5 names for 5 miners  does make it easy to figure what miner is working.

But the hashrate is the same as having 1 name for the same 5 miners.

ie 5 s9's

BTCaddy.0001 14th
BTCaddy.0002 14th
BTCaddy.0003 14th
BTCaddy.0004 14th
BTCaddy.0005 14th

add to 70th and 5 names

or

BTCaddy  70th.   combines the 5 miners Hashrates

both cases 70th
both cases equal shot to win

but the 5 name case reveals issues far better
than the 1 name case.
7397  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 30, 2022, 12:15:08 AM
If bitcoin gets into million(s) and most of WO regulars are still around, i think the best bang for the money would be to seek life extension procedures.

More years = more chances to develop Alzheimer's.

No thanks.

They really need to solve that one first.

You don't need to fight Alzheimer's if it never develops.
In other words-organs and tissues that are rejuvenated (less age functionally than the clock shows) are less prone to disease.
Aging is a fundamental condition, Alzheimer's is a consequence of an aged brain tissue (typically).

When I was talking about fighting aging, I was not talking about being 80 perpetually. That would be nonsensical.
How about 40 or even earlier?

Its feasible for a 20 year old rich person to age slower. and I would say it is worthwhile.

But at 65 I am looking to age backwards not slower.

s17 used from this link may work better for you.

https://vmssecuritycloud.com/product/bitmain-antminer-s17-pro-53th-2/

he is in New Jersey and Long Island New York.

I grabbed 2 s17 pros from him a few weeks ago.

He does repair gear.

So the s17 is cheaper.

Not that the s19 is a bad choice but it is pricey.
7399  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: recycle miners exhaust with mini wind turbine on: March 29, 2022, 04:38:24 AM
I suspect that four s17s with 16 fans pushing are burning maybe 320 watts
maybe you recover half of that. So you could run some low power miner maybe a few sidehack usb sticks.

you cant focus enough air to move a big turbine. but there are some small ones for camping and some for rvs .

I used two y ducts stacked as it would not really restrict air flow an would move a small turbine.

stacking more wont work. the air flow will get restricted.

there are small turbines would be fun to see.
7400  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 29, 2022, 04:10:33 AM
Extension already exists. But it is costly and not very moral.

your filters wear out.

Ie kidneys are in the 70% range for a very healthy 65 year old.

Dialysis  extends your system quite well. Fairly cheap.

So what do our mad scientists do. Splice your dna into a pigs kidneys and create perfect transplant organs.

Not too nice for the pig but better than someone grabbing people of the street and tossing him into a meat grinder once you grabbed the good organs.

So a rich guy could replace kidneys at 20 40 60 and so on.

Would work well if you have the coins to pay. You can donate the bacon 🥓 leftover to the poor.
