But I think this goes back to the fact that Leverkusen is missing several important players for this clash with Leipzig. But still they could not beat Bremen and they lost the game at home against Frankfurt. Whereas Leverkusen's performance against Augsburg was stunning except for the fact that it took them so long to score the decisive goal. But 76% ball possession and 24 shots is quite a good indicator that Leverkusen is ready to go for the game against Leipzig. Leverkusen with a win in stoppage time. Did not watch the game but seems it has been an entertaining one with 5 goals and lot of good football. According to the stats also more than deserved win. Just looking at the table and I see Leverkusen 7 points clear on top but Bayern with 2 games in hand. They will play one tomorrow but when did they postopne the other one? Don't remember any postponments this season before yesterday's match. |

Games look entertaining on paper but everything I have seen so far was really poor quality. Did not watch much but even goals I have seen were a result of big goal keeper errors or total defensive blunders. Maybe I am just unlucky, will try to watch some games in knockout stages when we have only "strong" teams. Round 1 is over and with it my knack of getting points in the pool. So, it's free week for me next game week, I'm not sure If I'd be having a friendly match against with Trofo as usual, I'll see what my schedule would be like, and with everything getting highly volatile in Division 1, I might have my team take a few days break so as to prepare for the final 3 games run of the season which wouldn't be easy but, with fresh leg and adequate rest my team should get continue from when they left of when the league resumes Nah I am not interested either. One friendly for this slot is more then enough. i have to keep my team fresh for final promotion push. I will be fielding B team against slackovic and hope it will be enough. Have to see who I can count on when it is for real. Great! I thought that you won't be up for it because of the two losses in a row. But hey, nothing breaks the curse like another bet  I'm glad we are on. it is all part of the plan. I will loose this one as well. Who else are you going to captain? There is actually nobody I trust this week unless we get some new Haaland/Bowen info. Yeah, I suppose this is the only time strategy works, yet it is also difficult to come by. 5 Arsenal goals, 90 minutes played, and no goal contribution from Saka. The difference is that you are shocked, while I am not. This is where we don't see eye to eye in FPL. I am not shocked, I am super happy with my decision. I decided to play Raya, Gabriel and Saka this week because I thought Arsenal will have great game against CP this week. Yeah captain decision did not go my way, but if I told you Arsenal is gonna win 5:0, Chealsea 1:0 and both Saka and Palmer will play full minutes, who would you captain? This is perfect case of luck vs. decision making. I would pick Saka every time and it is the right choice. This time it did not work but 8/10 times it would have gone Saka way. And over long time things like that pay off. |

Quick one @trofo @cryptofrka, is the fourth round of the ATP inclusive in the tennis question considering that some of the matches will be played midnight on Sunday according to the time schedule. Because the question said first week and I was believing that the fourth rounds are part of the first week.
Yeah, I also wonder. I remember seeing the post where Trofo or cryptofrka have explained until when it's considered to be the first week of the tournament, but I can't find that post now. Damn, Iraq is bossing Japan around, showering their goal with attempts and leading by 2 goals with about 10 minutes left to go. Quite a pretty game to watch and they won because Japan doesn't close down in defence, just really couldn't get past the physicality of their opponents. Was 8/1 and I didn't bet on it, so feel like I missed out.
Only 2 guys picked 0-1 goals for Japan -- both the legends of Div3A, hats off to you Spack and Kokee.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that Japan would loose this one or score just one goal. They have been scoring 4+ goals recently without any problems. I guess Iraq had a plan for the game and implemented it perfectly. |

I watched parts of Ivory Coast - Nigeria game today and it was hands down the worst football I watched in a long long time. So many poor passes, bad touches...and these are supposed to be two good teams. Maybe I just watched wrong parts of if the match but this was several levels lower than Croatian national league which is bad. Really hope next one I try will be better oterwise I don't think I will give AFCON another chance. Maybe I am just salty since I had both to score in it |

Of course that nothing will help you if you make the wrong choices player-wise, but there's probably 100 points per year riding on experience alone (when to change, use wildcards etc). And 100 points make a huge difference.
I believe it is much more. I would say that just a proper use of wildcard and free hit can get you much more than that. Those two chips are incredibly important since they have influence on multiple game weeks if played properly. While I believe most people get it for wildcard I don't think people realize what free hit can do for you. Here is an example if doubles and blanks play out as predicted. Not confirmed yet. For instance most of don't have Haaland and Salah in our teams. City and Liverpool will probably have a double in GW25 and blank in GW26. Provided Salah stays in AFCON long and Haaland is still not 100% ready, free hit in GW25 gives you a perfect team in all the game weeks until 27. So just one free hit is giving you a boost and advantage over 5GW. Could be 100 points just in that. But then there will be a blank GW (I think 29) where we will have maybe just 4 games so that will be though to navigate as well. Always decisions in FPL. Triple captain and bench boost are much less valuable and they are much more luck based. |

Ok guys, GW1 is over and that means our AFCON pool is officially closed. Rewards are as follows. We have 68 mBTC (50 mBTC sponsorship + 18 buy ins) and roughly 224$ (5 buy ins) in the pool. 23 players in total. 1. Place - 30 mBTC 2. Place - 15 mBTC 3. Place - 10 mBTC 4. Place - 8 mBTC 5. Place - 4 mBTC Best overall yellow cap - whole $ fund, so 224$ minus any tx fees. That comes to 67 mBTC and we have 1 mBTC for tx fees. If something is left or missing it will be added or taken from 1st place. Least impact on reward. I will pay generous tx fee for confirmation inside 5 blocks or so as always. We will use Superbru tie breakers to settle any ties if possible. If it is all the same then prize will be shared. For example in this first round 3 of us had exactly the same points and while we all have the same points and it seems that we are tied under all rules we actually aren't. Elche and casperBGD are sharing the first spot while I have 3rd. We all got yellow cap though. If the pool was over today we would all share yellow cap reward while I wouldn't get the share of 1st place and other 2 guys would split 30+15 equally. Not sure if it is the bug or some tie breaker I can't find when taking a quick look but we will use Superbru and abide by their decision no matter what. Probably not gonna matter when we get few more games under the belt.   |

But during the length of whole season those variances level out and good managers find their way to the top.
Again top 10k needs some luck, but top 200k is respectable and achievable every season.
Newcastle example, they have been perfectly predictable all season. Of course they are bad with half team injured, playing every 3 days and having though schedule. Now they are out from other competitions and had time to recuperate and good fixtures are coming soon....we should be buying their players not selling and most people are still selling.
You just agreed to my point with the second paragraph of your post without knowing The 1st -10k is luck, and anything less is strategy. Well, talking about Newcastle United, we all know what happened the last time we all complained about the entire team being injured, and they went on to beat Chelsea and go unbeaten for a few unexpected games, right? Personally, only Gordon and Trippier are worth considering in Newcastle United's present form. Consistency is always important, but it does not rule out luck. My point is about making right decisions, that will get you far in FPL. But then to breach that last 10k barrier you also have to have some luck to go with it. Perfect example KDB this week. Bringing him into the team with data available was terrible decision but it worked well for those that did it. 8/10 time it would not, and I am generous with the odds here. Those kind of decisions compound during the season. Another bad decision is doing early transfers. This week it is doubly so since it is so long before next deadline. Does not mean it will not help you sometimes but those 0.1M saved will cost much more when it goes against you. I did it last week since I did a bit of math and decided savings on Salah/Son for Richarlison/Bowen are worth the risk. Probably got screwed a little with Bowen injury but I went into it knowing I have excellent bench to cover if needed. And currently all three of my bench players have 6 or more points so Bowen missing a game will not hurt me that bad if he is ok after that. If he is injured for longer than I burned that transfer and that is really costly. Think of it like betting on high odds. They are high for a reason and in the long run they will not come that often. Make a sample big enough and it isn't luck anymore it is more risk management. |

There is no need for a lot of experience because FPL is 80% luck and 20% strategy. I said the same thing last season after coming #5; I felt I had learned enough to challenge for the title this season, but now I'm stuck somewhere in the middle. Ali (FPL Gunz), who won the FPL last season and wrote a book on how to win a few weeks ago, is nothing close to Top #10k this season. You may be adept at making transfers and saving money on fees, but if Newcastle United fails to win a game in the last seven, you cannot be blamed. Watkins blanking in 5 GWs. Arsenal moving from 1st to 4th. Newcastle moving from 4th to 10th. You have to be very lucky to survive all this. I strongly disagree with this. Yeah any given GW is luck. My people visited his people and his people prudently decided it is in the best interest of all parties concerned to not show up to the game Igebotz FC manager was afraid of meeting the only club that managed to win against notblox1 this season and did not know how to prepare for the game. In the end he opted to keep opponent secret from his players and just give them empty phrases like "we will play our game and result we come". But players are not stupid and when they were getting on the pitch they have seen who the opponent is. Shocked to their core half of them couldn't walk anymore while other half got a case of sever panic induced diarrhea. There was no other option but forfeit Now he is trying to spin it somehow but we all know the truth in our hearts You lucky bastard, how about telling the media how you hired jeremypwr to keep me hostage in PM, and how your people went to my players and bought them off? I heard you paid the players $200 apiece after what they did to you the last time to protect your promotion to division 1.  Hardly my fault if your team sells out for 200$ apiece. That just means you are cheap bastard No wander players deserted you when you needed them the most. It's amazing how I keep losing in BSFL. We had everything, 2-goal advantage going into the last quarter, won another sprint, we needed 1-2 goals in the whole quarter for smooth sailing. We rushed it, made silly mistakes, and Spain's got too much quality for that. The winning goal is pure class. Shame about the gold medal - it's tough to lose it like this. But I feel everybody would have taken silver before the start of the tournament. Germany is losing by 3, so I can only hope it's a blowout there. My BSFL round does not look good at all. Though one, to loose like that but let's be fair, if someone offered us silver before tournament started we would take it with both hands and be super happy about it. And one comment nobody else mentioned, we have damn fast swimmers, almost all the balls at start are ours and this time we got 4/4.

My Haaland story is fascinating. I was without him for 15 GW's, then took him too early in GW19 (Everton), which made me have a 14 mil player for 3 GW's without him playing 1 minute.
Now I took him off the team again and replaced him with Alvarez, so expect him to make a miraculous recovery and score a hattrick against Burnley.
Whatever I do, I just hope I'll remain near the top 5 until Salah and Son return - I need to wildcard as soon as possible.
You make the transfer with intent to screw yourself when you do it this early. I mean this current GW is still running for a week and there is 15 days to next deadline. City squad is training in Dubai, why wouldn't you wait to hear the news? My plan is Alvarez to Haaland for this week if he is back. So exact opposite of your transfer. |
