741  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Stacks Bowers June Showcase Auction for Physicals is Tomorrow! Polymerbit Debut! on: June 21, 2023, 01:38:10 AM
Not quite sure whos bidding on these coins but one thing is clear. They have no clue what their bidding on. The Yarr coin sells for $80 but the united crypto states coin sells for $556. This coin is still available  at top world coins for $100, loaded with 28 cents. Dont get me wrong im excited about the new buyers and interest in our hobby. Just wish they would come here first and get educated. There were a lot less coins in this auction then the last so hooefully supply is finding its way into permanent collections

The final sale price of $720 was unexpected. This was not our listing, and we did not profit from this sale.

While I agree that research and knowledge are important; there's a counterargument to be made:

Collectibles in this forum are undervalued.

It boils down to supply and demand, increasing demand (via a new market of wealthy buyers) will inevitably affect the equilibrium price.

Auctions tend to set the price of art and collectibles.

That is incredible, congrats! Even if you didn't personally profit from that sale its an honor receiving the recognition from Stacks Bowers in this niche cryptomatists space (crypto + numismatist- did I just coin a new term? lol). I also couldn't agree with you more on the subject these collectibles are simply undervalued, as more and more people from the newer generations are introduced to Bitcoin and crypto the demand for these types of coins / notes can only go up I would imagine.  In 10 more years we will have a whole new set of adults making disposable income that will be educated on crypto and bitcoin, there is no telling what another generation and 10 more years of advancements and awareness it will bring!
742  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Coming Soon *NEW* "Crypto Currency" Copper Pennies! Intended to be loaded w/ BTC on: June 20, 2023, 01:30:44 PM
...something I think every collector can appreciate: A good old fashioned copper penny."

Totally agree! Grin

[T]hese "CC" copper pennies have been stamped and minted by me on specially treated/polished pure copper planchets. In fact they are actually considered Proof Planchets...

Unfortunately, there were a few errors in the minting process where some of the coins didn't strike perfectly...

The polished planchets that you're using are very likely too hard, which is why you're needing to stamp them multiple times, which often leads to the double-striking issue that you're encountering. As the planchets are being polished (chemically / physically tumbled) from the factory, all that tumbling causes the metal structure of the planchets to compress and become less malleable. They're pretty, but only ideal for stamping if you're using a more consistent (regarding tonnage) pressing method such as a hydraulic press (or "an" hydraulic press, whichever indefinite article you prefer). Otherwise, you'll want to anneal the planchets before stamping. (The annealing process softens the metal and makes it much more malleable for stamping.) You may already know all this, but I thought that I'd share the knowledge. We (The Bitcoin Penny Company / One Cent Mint) have been living in and exploring this self-minting rabbit hole for almost a year now, especially with the various tempering grades of copper, and it can be quite a lot of knowledge to take in. (By the way, you'll want to buy planchets that were tempered in the higher "O" range, if you're not tempering them yourself. They'll be softer and better for stamping.) But you'll get there. Good luck with the release. Copper is king!

Regards,
Chris @ TBPCo.

Hey Chris, thanks for your input! I really appreciate it. I did anneal these before stamping, unfortunately I don't have a hydraulic press but have looked into this and eventually will. In the meantime I've had to stamp them by hand which is where all the errors really stem from, boy is it hard to line those puppies up to get it perfect. I think these errors only add character though, really makes your appreciate a perfectly struck coin. I picked up these planchetts from the regency mint I think, got an amazing deal on them a while back I wish I had only gotten more, they gave me a special bulk rate on a test lot, I'll be ordering some more of them soon. What I love about them is that they're the exact same size as a penny and of course pure Cu. These will progress overtime I'm hoping!
743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BlackRock and Fidelity both apply for bitcoin ETFs on: June 20, 2023, 01:20:37 PM
With all this catastrophic litigation against Binance and Coinbase and a legal battle against Greyscale by none other than the SEC, two asset managers Blackrock and Fidelity are applying for their own Bitcoin ETFs. (Source).

BlackRock manages ~8.1 trillion dollars worth of assets and a Fidelity manages ~4.2 trillion. Fidelity also wants to buy out Greyscale, who themselves would be in big financial trouble if these ETFs get approved - and they very much look likely to be, because these managers have a good record of getting their ETFs approved.

For reference, the entire crypto market cap is around ~1 trillion dollars (also from Reddit).

Peter Schif posted something about Blackrock theoretically doing this knowing that if would have a bullish effect on the market just so that they could sell it down the road for profit, pure speculation but honestly that could be their strategy.....
744  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Instead of Satoshis, wouldn't it make sense to call the smallest unit a "Bit"? on: June 20, 2023, 01:18:55 PM

This was a pretty good article SatsLife. I enjoyed the history, it's pretty cool that Satoshi himself favored the term bits. On another interesting video I was watching yesterday on the Townsends YouTube channel there was another one referencing the similarities to the Spanish coinage and bitcoin. He was mainly talking about the very popular milled pillar dollars and also the pieces of eight, but he described how merchants and traders kept a Ledger. People would often trade items for a promise of payment and it went down in their little book or on a small scribe, he related that to bitcoins Ledger system 🤔 the video was in like 2019 or something titled the history of money in the US or something
745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy father's day to Satoshi Nakomoto on: June 20, 2023, 01:12:13 PM
This was a clever post, I don't think people usually refer to Satoshi as the father of anything just the creator of Bitcoin but technically speaking he is the father of cryptocurrency. Pretty neat!!!
746  Economy / Collectibles / Stacks Bowers June Showcase Auction for Physicals is Tomorrow! Polymerbit Debut! on: June 14, 2023, 03:20:42 AM

747  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin whale 'awakens' after 10 years. on: June 14, 2023, 03:00:03 AM
A Bitcoin whale account unexpectedly comes back to life after 10 years as it transfers an equivalent of $37.8 million to another wallet. Data on Lookonchain on June 8th reveals that a Bitcoin account that had been dormant for over 10 years has transferred a total of 1,432.93 BTC, equivalent to $37.8 million, to a new address named 'bc1psv'.

The last activity of this account was on April 9, 2013, during the period known as the 'Satoshi era,' when it received 1,432.92 BTC at a price of $195 per Bitcoin. This means the investor had invested $280,000 and could potentially make a profit of nearly $37 million if they decide to sell all the coins in the wallet at this time.

Currently, the intentions of the owner cannot be determined. Data from Cointelegraph shows that every previous awakening of a 'whale' has resulted in significant fluctuations in the Bitcoin market. The event has garnered attention from the cryptocurrency community due to the potential impact of the origin of these coins on early-stage participants.

Wow, can you imagine moving such a vast fortune from one of your bill folds to the new bill fold in just a matter of minutes?! Thats a lot of money to move. I wonder if this is the work of some crazy hacker, or some super rich royal. Probably Elon Musk tho fr.
748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New investigation on Satoshi Nakamoto & the Origins of Bitcoin on: June 14, 2023, 02:56:08 AM
I have carried out a deep dive through proper research methodology to dig out new evidence for drafting a profile of Satoshi Nakamoto and for clarifying the origins of Bitcoin. I summarized my findings of the accompanying ebook in a 5-part series of videos, which has been available on YouTube. I promise this approach is facts-driven, unprecedented, and will radically reshape your picture of how Bitcoin came alive, and who is Satoshi Nakamoto.
Feedback highly appreciated.

Honestly at this point what good would it do to find the true creator of Bitcoin? What would the world benefit from that? I honestly think it would do more harm than good....
749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin Be Badly Hurt if Binance Goes Down? on: June 14, 2023, 02:53:41 AM
I really am no fan of Binance because I found their KYC annoying. What is not in doubt is that CZ is supposedly one of the most credible faces of crypto. How much harm do you think a Binance implosion would cause Bitcoin? Is the US a big threat to the coin market?

https://www.cryptoinfowatch.com/a-former-sec-official-said-the-binance-ceo-and-others-may-face-criminal-charges-soon/

No. Bitcoin has seen the failure of many exchanges in its lifetime so far. If binance went under a new one would just emerge, but bitcoin's resiliency is really a testament to the purpose that it was created for and is meant to liberate us from the corrupt fiat banking system. The US has this whole crack down to crypto right now because it is considered a threat to its own world reserve currency status, but right now the US is really going to be responsible for losing that because right now we have generated more dollars these last few years than we have ever printed in history. Crazy stuff! Great for BTC though!
750  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Instead of Satoshis, wouldn't it make sense to call the smallest unit a "Bit"? on: June 14, 2023, 02:47:09 AM
no.

bit has always meant something else.

and it is 100 million sats to one Bitcoin not 120 million sats

Thanks Mopar! somewhere I read 120 million lol. Anyhow just found it an interesting correlation...
751  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Coming Soon *NEW* "Crypto Currency" Copper Pennies! Intended to be loaded w/ BTC on: June 14, 2023, 02:42:12 AM
Interested. random number is good Cheesy
I second that. Looking forward, but also would like to see at least some drafts of the design or even better the minted coin itself.
You talked about error coins and near perfect ones in OP - do you have any pics to show?

Yes, I am very excited to reveal some of these examples! I will share a picture of each type minted. I plan to set up the light box I have back up and bust out my canon and take a few shots of them soon with a 100mm lens. I'll share those before the week is over with you all.
752  Economy / Collectibles / Instead of Satoshis, wouldn't it make sense to call the smallest unit a "Bit"? on: June 14, 2023, 02:33:10 AM
So I was reading something interesting in the Red Book today, on page 10, it talks about Bits on the spanish dollar system, the pieces of eight. Well, you learn something new every day because I wasn't aware that 1 bit in the spanish dollar monetary system is equivalent to 12.5 cents, and 2 Bits equals 25c and so on. I thought that interesting because now we're talking about the evolution of money here, and as far as the spanish dollars are concerned people have been exchanging bits for centuries now! Just not bit coins up until recently Cheesy I know that isn't any coincidence, because it would be very funny to think that Satoshi had the pieces of eight in mind when he invented bitcoin. How funny would that be if thats how he got the name lol. The units in which data is also measured uses the bit system, with so many bits making a byte, and so on. I have just been thinking about this recently as I was looking through some of the finer 8 reales coins that popped up in my employers inventory for sale, and so I turned to the red book and learned this about the bits. It is commonly known for 2 bits equaling 25 cents I read somewhere on google. If thats the case then lets just use our imagination here. if 1 bit was to equal 1 satoshi and there are 120 million satoshis in one bitcoin then you do the math and tell me what you get Cheesy
753  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Coming Soon *NEW* "Crypto Currency" Copper Pennies! Intended to be loaded w/ BTC on: June 13, 2023, 01:16:24 AM
ahh yes he does say only 21 in that case I wont be able to afford one.

Haha yes Sir only 21 coins here!!! I'm waiting to hear back from polymer, once we get that hologram work done and get keys generated with your expertise here Mopar we can get the ball rolling on an official sales post. I am keeping track of the numbers everyone wants. I will be taking number 1 Cool
754  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Coming Soon *NEW* "Crypto Currency" Copper Pennies! Intended to be loaded w/ BTC on: June 11, 2023, 05:06:37 PM
How do I reserve one of these?

You're on the list m8!!!
755  Economy / Collectibles / Coming Soon *NEW* "Crypto Currency" Copper Pennies! Intended to be loaded w/ BTC on: June 09, 2023, 03:33:05 AM
This new series of coins and pours I've been discussing for a little while here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5439641.msg62170730#msg62170730 is getting a little closer to becoming a reality. Here is an update with the project:

I have decided to start off with a coin that is a bit more modest than a 1 or 2 ounce silver pour and so instead i'll first release a limited run of exactly 21 .999 Fine Copper "CC" Pennies! The CC stands for Crypto Currency. The overall design is exactly that of the Large Cent likeness from the 1800s featuring the same elements "The United States of America" also featuring an "S" mint mark for San Francisco (which is known for its Proof Coins), and of course the wreath hugging the "CC" in the middle. I'll add a pic on here soon.

Don't you worry, the silver pours will be next in the 1 and 2 ozt varieties but first I want to get this ball rolling off with something I think every collector can appreciate: A good old fashioned copper penny. Hopefully sooner than later I will be launching this very limited collection! Again only 21 of these "CC" copper pennies have been stamped and minted by me on specially treated/polished pure copper planchets. In fact they are actually considered Proof Planchets, although the die that I used to stamp this was NOT polished, thus it cannot be classified as a "proof coin" exactly, so I guess that leaves them somewhere in between Proofs and Mint State coins.

Unfortunately, there were a few errors in the minting process where some of the coins didn't strike perfectly.... Including 6 of the coins that were struck 10% off center, the 3 of them that were double stamped by mistake, a few of them have a mysterious golden hew to it which i'm not exactly sure how it happened as I did nothing to achieve this but I would consider them "toned". Only 11 of these coins struck near perfect! If you buy one, you may get an "error" coin, or you could get a "Mint State Proof" Penny. Thats right, I just coined MSPs or Mint State Proofs haha. Genius.

The final product, presentation, and packaging, as well as shipment/distribution will only be made possible with the help of some the most influential people i've had the pleasure of meeting on and off of this forum including, Mopar Mining (Key Generation/3D Printing custom packaging), Polymerbit (Hologram & COA Design), MinerJones aka MJ!!! (ESCROW Services/good vibes).

***Below was copied from the old post, I will give the status update/cross out any completed tasks.**

I am going to need to do these things first before I can make this project a reality:

1. I need to hire some graphic design expertise to create a new bitcoin centric design in the form of a vector image file. Vendor/Design TBD. complete

2. I need to send this vector image file to steel stamp creation company for the physical piece of metal I am going to be slamming my hammer into against these silver 1ozt or 2ozt rounds! Pretty crucial! Vendor is vetted just need to finalize on the design. Vendor Chosen. complete

3. I am going to need to come up with the actual sales post/ pre order which I will have paid in advance to fund the project. (damn I probably should have made this one #1 haha.  To be posted/completed.

4. I need to follow up with Mopar (who has agreed to help w/ the key generation / holo ordering) So need to finalize the holo selection / style on that as well and work - still pending/ TBD. Update: Polymerbit will be designing the holos and coordinating w/ Mopar on this piece.

5. Once all of this leg work is done it'll be off to the forge to smelt/ pour silver into rounds, polish, anneal (heat silver w/ torch to soften and immediately stamp), Quench, apply an antique finish (potentially), and then create divot/ hole on the back for the PK / holo covering on the back. Final polishings. Stamping the serial number on the side of the round. I will be conducting this tedious process myself. TBD Update: This has now been changed to the .999 Fine CU planchets that I have completed stamping (Pics to come shortly)  Grin

6. I will also need to then perhaps 3D print a custom casing for this. That means i'll need to make some tweaks to the old 3D printer and find an expert to help design a custom fit case w/ magnets as well. This will be a whole project in itself. 3D print designer expertise TBD Mopar is assisting with this  Cool

7. Stickers- man stickers are just a must have!!!! If you don't have a super awesome cool sticker are you even flipping legit?! lmao. Vendor TBD- Update: Still working on this one, maybe Polymerbit can help with this one too I need to ask. Pending.

8. Almost forgot about the COAs. Wow that would have been a shame if I put in all this work and never made these lol. COA design / material and format TBD. (open to any suggestion on what you think looks best).   Update: Polymerbit has agreed to not only help me design the COAs but the hologram stickers as well Cool

As of right now there is no TBD date on the completion of this project, but here is the update with everything that needs to be done to make it a reality and we're making progress! Its going to be a lot of fun. I just can't wait to bring them to life. Just be patient with me & I will do my best to bring something new and fun for our crypto collectors here on BTALK Cheesy

I'm not sure why the pictures aren't working
756  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is it ethical for a company to have robots sell coins to humans and not know? on: June 09, 2023, 02:20:33 AM
-cut-
in the future though eventually there will be AI that has better emotional intelligence as well.
-cut-
That wouldn't even be that hard to imagine. Humans tend to avoid to do any emotional labor to the point of breaking point and mass shootings. AI:s would work though emotional problems way easier, and they don't need even sympathy to figure our problems out. Just empathy, and that doesn't need to be for humans only, as you don't need much feelings to believe what the other person is going trough. Humans have problems with empathy all the time as they confuse it with sympathy. In fact humans are in overall pretty mess with their suppressed feelings.

_______________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________

While that is true to some extent you can't just replicate true and genuine human emotions, if they're robotic reactions and AI educated guess responses of what the correct emotional output is based on the current human / situation they're dealing with in real time who is to say that the robot doesn't mix up empathy and sympathy and what that should be/look like when given the opportunity to project their response back. The very term emotion doesn't work the same for robots, I feel like robot emotions will need their own classifications lol. Robototions? Hahahhaha idk man. Weird shit we're talking here lmfao.

You could have posted more. You help the forum grow by posting more and more assets. The information you share can be helpful for us.

How will he help forum grow by post posting more and more even when he has nothing to say. He won't help forum grow in anyway, even if he decides to quit forum, the forum will still remain informative.

Op, you made 500 posts only for about 5 years. Did you at any point delete your posts or you took a break for some years and restarted. Is Sinbad your first campaign? If no, making a min of 20 posts per week should get you much more numbers than 500. What really happened?

Thanks for this! I always like constructive criticism. I should definitely be posting more information that is helpful and try to do better. Cheers 🍻  also I probably should have posted this in some other board, I just was feeling inspired by the folks on this forum. Thanks everyone for reading.

Hey Guys,

So this is my 500th post on here. Wow, seems like such a milestone (kidding, I need to pump those numbers up lol). Mile 500 guys. Idk where you are at with your bitcoin journey, maybe you're a newb on here, a modest coiner, a shrimp, a fish, a shark, a Whale!!!! It could be that you're mining, or have some kind of crypto company, maybe you're posting about bitcoin on here purely for fun or campaigning or just wanting to learn more about this revolutionary change in money that just so happened to occur in our life time, lucky us!!!  If you're reading this, please comment a little about what your goal is on here and what you're most interested in. For me it has to be all of the intense discussions on current events in the space, I sure do love to get everyone's take on here and its fun getting involved. I also do love the collectibles section. The best part of all of this though has to be the people behind these screen names. On the forum and off the forum.

I had the privilege to meet with some of you at a bitcoin forum pizza meet up outside of the bitcoin conference on day 2, what a joy that was meeting all of you- comment if you were there!!!! We are truly a remarkable group of people and have found a commonplace in BTC & crypto which is truly enriching and just loads of fun. I just wish I could have had a better chance to meet and talk to everyone that was there (and also not there), with 21 of us there total (how awesome is that right ) it was hard with so many people in such a short amount of time to get to know everybody! I have to give a shoutout though to all the folks that I've come in contact with in my time on this forum. Its an absolute privilege to be on the forum here with you all, and I look forward to what the future has in store!

Thats all I really had to say for this post for #500 I just wanted to say THANK YOU EVERYONE, for being you!

Cheers,

759  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ordinals and BRC20 development on: June 02, 2023, 03:40:43 AM
Hi, community,

I think this is one (even though not the most loved) of the most logical next steps for Bitcoin adoption.
We can't expect that the process of Bitcoin unfolding will go perfectly without crazy/creative explosions here and there.

I think Ordinals will drive a great demand and awareness of Bitcoin and can potentially convince ETH lovers or alt-coin holders to flip back to BTC only.

Anyway, NFTs on Ethereum got soo much liquidity last bull market, I'm definitely expecting lots of that (and new) liquidity going to Bitcoin NFTs and am watching projects very carefully.

The NFTs that I'm so far interested in and also working on are the following:

- Dogepunks  (@DogePunksBTC)
- Bitcoin invaders (@BTCinvaders)
- Bitcoin Punks (@Bitcoin_Punks_)
- Pixel Pepes (@PepesPixel)

What do you guys think of this Ordinals development on Bitcoin?

And are there any NFTs or projects worth looking at?

Honestly I think its natural for this to occur simply because a lot of folks who have come to love crypto and NFTs will see this as a huge win for the blockchain. However, Bitcoiners generally I have found are really not a fan of these ordinals, even the Developers. But maybe some of them are, i'm not entirely sure. Anyways, it is exciting to see a new found love for the first crypto among shitcoiners. So we have that going for us with Ordinals at least. As for me I have yet to get any, but now honestly I want some of them. What is the best wallet to get for BRC-20?
