741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance’s $4B settlement the green light for spot Bitcoin ETFs? on: November 27, 2023, 05:21:23 AM
They should just let him go back. I highly doubt that he is a flight risk. Look what happened with Arthur Hayes. He just got probation or house arrest if I recall.

SBF is in jail because he stole billions, CZ never stole anything. I don’t even think he will even go to jail most likely banned from trading or running any crypto exchanges.
742  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: someone pays 83.65 $BTC ($3,136,058) in transaction fees, overpaying by 120,258 on: November 27, 2023, 05:17:48 AM
Ok I am following the thread on twitter from the guy who sent the large fee. He says that he was creating a new cold storage address and as soon as he moved his funds to this address it was sent elsewhere. He doesn’t know why it has the large fee.

Many asked him what software he used but he didn’t reply yet. I am guessing it’s some fake wallet because there have been no other reports of users getting funds stolen. Also it’s a buggy fake wallet because it didn’t work properly because a lot of the bitcoin moved was just the fee.
743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi is Faceless on: November 26, 2023, 05:33:22 AM
There is a statue of Satoshi somewhere in Budapest and it’s basically a mirrored statue so when you look at it you see yourself. Because you are Satoshi, we are all satoshi pretty much.

It’s a currency created by the people, Mined by the people and spent by the people. Hence why his disappearance is very important.

So that’s why you can’t say Bitcoin is the same as Ethereum where the founder is known. Hence it is faceless.
744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Closing Central Bank is Non-negotiable says pro-bitcoin Argentina Pres Milei on: November 26, 2023, 05:30:24 AM
Well what is the point of the central bank now that their currency is useless. You keep the central bank and they issue new notes, most likely the same inflation problem will happen.

They are better off just using the US dollar or the Euro, and stay out of their own currencies. Many of their citizens stopped using their currency long ago as it was way too unstable.
745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance reaches deal to pay $4.3B settlement to American regulators on: November 26, 2023, 05:27:30 AM
I think this investigation was ongoing for a while. I don’t know what the 4 fingers meant when he was holding it up but some are speculating it’s the $4B he will owe to the government.

The writing was on the wall when Binance all of a sudden started to lose banking partners for deposits and withdraws. Then the entire issue with the stable coin. And eventually all the problems that happened at Binance US.

We all knew something was up but didn’t think it would be this.
746  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: someone pays 83.65 $BTC ($3,136,058) in transaction fees, overpaying by 120,258 on: November 25, 2023, 05:26:55 AM
I think it was some weird bug where if he used the api, it fetched the wrong fee. Or maybe he was doing the transactions manually and got a few decimal places mixed up.

I guess this is why you should always look over the confirmation before hitting send. Make sure it goes to the right address along with the right amount to send along with the fee. Pretty sure normal software clients can’t make a fee that high manually.
747  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big Headline and Crypto Crackdown on: November 25, 2023, 05:22:40 AM
Governments have been against crypto since the Ftx collapse because those that lost funds complained to the government and they basically needed to take some action.

Notice how none of this was an issue prior to Ftx. Then as soon as it collapsed everything changed and we had exchanges getting sued and massive crypto regulations.

Some think it’s a good thing because it paves the way for the etf however which could be true. Binance was just too big and why they went after it.
748  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Illiquid Supply Hits An All-Time High on: November 24, 2023, 04:46:50 AM
Another reason why this is happening is because people no longer trust CEX after FTX scandal. The chart shows the illiquid supply greater than 1 year and you can see it went up because last November people withdrew all their coins from exchanges and put them in self custody.

Even if you weren’t part of FTX, the fear would of caused you anyways to self custody and get a hardware wallet. So this chart is not surprising. It will be more interesting what happens when price goes higher and if the supply will drop.
749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance’s $4B settlement the green light for spot Bitcoin ETFs? on: November 24, 2023, 04:44:15 AM
Yeah it’s basically what happened when Bitmex went down and we got that huge rally because it gave the go ahead for the COIN IPO and the Bitcoin futures etf to be listed on the stock market for anyone to buy.

Bianance had too much control and they worried that if someone took over the market it could cause a massive destruction of the financial system because if many funds were leveraged on the bitcoin etf and it crashed it would cause massive margin calls and set off a cascade of losses.
750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something you don't have to forget on: November 24, 2023, 04:41:44 AM
I don’t think the lost coins are due to people forgetting their passwords. There are services out there which can try and brute force the password as long as it’s not too long or feature special characters.

Most people lost their coins forever because they either threw away their hard drive or they overwritten it. And in these scenarios it’s impossible to recover the lost coins.

Now a days nobody forgets their password or throws away their hard drive because Bitcoin has a huge value.
751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin Holders Hesitant to Sell Despite Price Surge on: November 24, 2023, 04:37:28 AM
I followed that guide before. Back in the 2017 and 2021 peaks and I noticed that if you relied on those graphs you would of sold way too early.

Most likely if we hit ATH those graphs will start to reverse but price can still keep going up. So you can’t really use that as a guide. It’s an interesting observation but not a good technical analysis to trade on.
752  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you foresee crypto payments going mainstream soon? Why or why not? on: November 23, 2023, 05:21:05 AM
Honestly I don’t see it anytime soon.

Right now everybody is getting into crypto to get rich and they aren’t going to be making micropayments to pay for their coffee.

The technology is there already. Many businesses can already accept crypto easily with exchanges such as Coinbase but they don’t because they assume there is no demand for it, at least yet.

It’s a different story in emerging markets however. Those markets will have more and more crypto adoption for daily life instead of places like USA.
753  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance reaches deal to pay $4.3B settlement to American regulators on: November 23, 2023, 05:16:33 AM
Well we knew SBF was a criminal as soon as his claimed bankruptcy last November. But nobody would of expected CZ to actually be charged with all this.

His exchange was actually fairly honest and never scammed or defrauded individuals. This is why it was a shock to many and many are saying is was blackrock that claimed this needs to happen for the bitcoin etf to get approved. Binance just was way too big and they want the market share to separate.
754  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If i have 1k how to trade future on: November 23, 2023, 05:13:49 AM
The only safe leverage is 1:1 which is no leverage at all. If you go 10x on your $1000 you will get stopped when the prices goes $100 against you, when you account for margin requirement and fees you will technically get stopped earlier.

Don’t believe all those screenshots showing how someone took $1000 and made It into a million. Many of those are photoshopped or they just got extremely lucky. Most traders don’t make that much money in reality.
755  Economy / Trading Discussion / Uniswap V3 ETH - Is it possible to use limit orders? on: November 22, 2023, 11:01:44 PM
I am new to DEX and Uniswap. I used it before for simple market price swaps however I am wondering is there anyway I can set limit orders whenever I want to sell something or buy something.

Currently I would set alerts on Tradingview and then I would go to Uniswap and buy and sell at whatever price the market is trading at. However I am wondering if its possible to just use limit orders to buy and sell.

756  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bittrex shutting down: What can exchange do differently to avert this trend. on: November 22, 2023, 06:03:35 AM
Bittrex has been going downhill since 2017 pretty much. It was a great exchange back in 2014 because they listed pretty much all of the newest altcoins you were able to mine and had a great platform.

However they were forced to do KYC and that’s when the exchange started to experience problems and lose market share. It hasn’t been a leading since 2015-16 pretty much, just like Poloniex.
757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Largest crypto exchange CEO arrested! Anyone getting deja vu? on: November 22, 2023, 05:57:10 AM
Back in 2019-2020 the largest exchange at the time was Bitmex, similar to how Binance now has the largest volumes. Binance started to gain popularity around that time but still didn’t have the same volume as Bitmex.

When he stepped down and was charged, we assumed crypto would crash but the complete opposite happened. Some speculated they had to bring Bitmex down to pave the way for the Coin IPO and the Bitcoin futures etf listed on the stock market.
758  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Largest crypto exchange CEO arrested! Anyone getting deja vu? on: November 21, 2023, 11:03:35 PM
So as you all know they charged CZ and he stepped down. Most likely he will get arrested as he goes on US soil.

What I find strange about all this, is that it’s all familiar. Anyone know what I am taking about?

Remember Bitmex and it’s CEO Arthur Hayes who was arrested. What happened right after? One of the biggest bull runs in Bitcoins history.

History doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes.
759  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will SEC delay on Spot ETF approval do to Bitcoin's price?@ on: November 21, 2023, 05:09:47 AM
Well I am fairly sure it won’t be approved anytime in 2023. Maybe in January 2024. However it would be crazy if the SEC approved the etf tomorrow while yesterday they sued Binance and Kraken. It’s very difficult to read that Gary Gensler.

At first we assumed he was finally pro Bitcoin with his Satoshi tweet but a week later he is calling crypto a scam and suing exchanges left and right. Honestly it would be best if he was replaced by someone else.
760  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Germany's fourth largest bank "Commerzbank" Granted Bitcoin Custody Licence. on: November 21, 2023, 05:05:02 AM
I think this might be good for some. For example people who don’t want to use hardware walllets because they are too technical.

If you keep your Bitcoin yourself, there is always the risk of getting it stolen. If you hold it at the bank then most likely it’s insured and they will do a better job securing it than most individuals. Hence why this is a great option to have for many people using their bank to store crypto.
