741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High fees are not bitcoin's destinty on: November 17, 2023, 05:31:13 AM
Today I wanted to get a transaction out but the fees were crazy nuts. Everytime I looked it was like 250sat/btye. Upon research I found out some new ordinal token is coming out and it’s causing massive fees on the bitcoin blockchain.

Basically not an urgent transactions so will wait it out. But lately it’s getting to the point where ETH has cheaper transactions than BTC which is the complete opposite of the 2021 bull market.
742  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: $300k worth of bitcoin from FTX moved to this one address? on: November 16, 2023, 05:55:07 AM
The bankruptcy is selling the assets as we speak. As sol unlocks they will keep selling it to pay back everybody. So this is considered normal. I think they started to sell about a month or two back.

They are selling in some portions not to move the markets. They will most likely sell all their digital assets as soon as possible and then more on to more illiquid assets.
743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to maintain proper security measures paying by BTC for an expensive items? on: November 16, 2023, 05:50:40 AM
Yeah I remember like 10 years back doing a P2P transaction. The guy wanted to wait for it to confirm. I used the recommended fee but I think in that 10 minute period something happened and fees went up momentarily.

I had to wait like 1.5 hours for it to confirm because the guy wouldn’t  part with his cash. It would of reached the point where one of us would have to just trust the guy that it would confirm.

But in a p2p meeting, don’t be cheap and use a high fee. You don’t want it to be an awkward transaction.
744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to bitcoin price if Solar superstorm 'wipe out the internet'? on: November 16, 2023, 05:42:11 AM
Yeah I agree with the above posters. I don’t think this will happen, but if it did, Bitcoin would be the last thing people would worry about. Think about all the banks and how businesses operate.

Most people pay digitally for everything these days, nobody uses cash. So without the internet it wouldn’t be possible to get sales. It would be chaos pretty much. I don’t think this will happen, we hear about these doom day scenarios all the time and they never pan out.
745  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] BestChange Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ on: November 15, 2023, 03:52:59 PM
Anyone know if that viabtc transaction accelerator can help? Been a few years since ive used it and usually it was almost full but if someone can keep pushing our transaction on there it might get approved next time viabtc mined a block.

Only a paid service can help because the transaction size or volume is larger than 0.5 KB which is the maximum size to use the free service. The best option is to the RBF since the transaction has it opt-in already

Are the paid services cheaper than paying the actual miner fee? I ask because I got a bunch of unspent inputs from the sig campaign and I didn't batch them when fees were low. Wonder what the best way to go about this would be.

746  Economy / Economics / Re: How to survive hyperinflation? on: November 15, 2023, 05:51:14 AM
Most of the countries which are undergoing hyper inflation, most people just buy US dollars and use that to pay for goods and services. You can buy gold or crypto but gold is hard to pay with in small amounts and most people don’t know what crypto is to be honest.

What will happen is the currency will become useless and they will replace with a new currency or adopt some other currency like euro or US dollar. This happened many times in the past and the result was always the same.
747  Economy / Economics / Re: House to consider stopgap funding measure today to avert government shutdown on: November 15, 2023, 05:48:37 AM
All those meetings are pointless anyway. Eventually they would of came up with a bill and spend countless money anyways, and the deficit would keep going up and rates will keep going up as a result.

I watched those meetings on CSPAN and you can see those workers sleeping and yawning and basically shows you how seriously they take all of this. They are never going to make any meaningful cuts.
748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make bitcoin "untouchable" for a while on: November 15, 2023, 05:43:50 AM
Yeah I think in my experience in the past, timelock would of helped. You see price is pumping and you start to sell. Pumps some more and you sell more. Then you keep looking and it’s going higher and higher and you have rejects for selling too low.

By time locking it you would probably sell at a better average because most likely the price would end up higher unless it was the actual top which would be rare.
749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to generate bitcoin address with face share barcode ? on: November 14, 2023, 05:16:03 AM
Even if this was possible it’s not a good idea. The Face ID is not as secure as you think, it’s more secure than the fingerprint id but there are reports about siblings being able to unlock phones because they share similar features.

Due to these issues you can tell why it would be problematic. Another issue is that if some hacker finds out you got tons of bitcoins, they can simply hold their phone in front of your face and they might be able to gain access, it’s not a good idea.

751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Every man you failed to lecture about Bitcoin can be a victim to scam on: November 13, 2023, 06:30:50 PM
Yeah there are just way too many sophisticated scams these days. Look how much spam people get almost daily about their Coinbase account being restricted and get tricked into providing actual login credentails.

Unlike a paypal scam which can be easily reversed you can't get your crypto refunded due to fraud. Everyone should practise self custody safety and get a hardware wallet but the issue is that during most bull markets those are sold out and people rely on exchanges or keeping their crypto on their windows 10 PC which is extremely risky.
752  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / CBOE launching Bitcoin and Ethereum Margin Futures on Jan 11 2024 on: November 13, 2023, 03:41:40 PM
Heard this from multiple sources so I guess it’s confirmed,

Apparently we are getting margined futures now and from what I understand it differs from the current futures because they are derivatives but since it’s margined it means it’s related to spot BTC and ETH.

What is strange is the date however. Jan 11 2024?

Apparently there was some rumor going around that SEC will approve the BTC etf on Jan 10 2024, and gave it a 90% chance. And all of a sudden the very next day these margin futures goes live.

Here is the link to the article

753  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Market Chart November and December 2023!! on: November 13, 2023, 05:32:55 AM
I think until the etf is actually approved this rally will continue. The rally might stall when the etf is approved and about to be launched. Many are considering this to be a sell the news event like before.

So it would be best to get approved in Jan instead of Nov because the approval might stall the longer rally since many will want to take profit the day the etf goes live on the stock market.
754  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto market will top when we see ‘how do I mine BTC on my laptop’ posts here on: November 13, 2023, 05:30:12 AM
Yes mining now is not profitable but it won’t matter. Whenever we had a strong bull market, I would come to the alt coin mining discussion and see some post about someone hearing about bitcoin and they want to mine it with their MacBook pretty much. Almost every cycle near the top this phenomenon occurs.

This is similar to how my close friends and family ask about bitcoin, it always near a market top. It could be a coincidence but it’s just something I observed from being in crypto for almost a decade.
755  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are there any companys offering insurance policys for crypto exchanges ? on: November 13, 2023, 05:25:55 AM
I looked into this years ago and what I found was that there are some bitcoin exchanges which do have insurance however it turns out the insurance is only for the fiat part of the exchange and not the crypto side.

So if there was some insider theft, then perhaps it would apply however it won’t apply to individual accounts if someone gets their password leaked or sim swapped. Those definitely aren’t covered.
756  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: FALLING FALLING! on: November 13, 2023, 05:23:12 AM
Yes Bitcoin topped at the double top back in late 2021 however in 2013, 2017, 2021 when it approached the prior ATH, many assumed it would be a double top but it wasn’t and broke straight thru. So it’s not a good indicator.

A better indicator is to look at the way the weekly candle closes, it if closes with a big wick then chances are that the top might be in and it’s time to get out.
757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how/why is this tx stuck??? on: November 13, 2023, 05:17:09 AM
Been years since I used viabtc? Does that still work these days? I remeber them having a queue and you had to try and get your transaction in at the beginning of the hour, however whether it successfully included it is another story.

So if the average fee is 50 sat/byte currently and yours is 25 sat/byte will it include it or does the fee need to be much higher?
758  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: So since SOL is $60 - Means FTX is solvent again? on: November 13, 2023, 03:22:05 AM
If news got out that FTX is starting to sell SOL, it might have a catastrophic effect on the currently bullish trend,

Best thing for them to do is to compensate the customers not in USD amount but in crypto assets they were holding at time of bankruptcy, to convert it to USD is a huge disservice to innocent customer base...

Regardless, they will need to be very cautious in selling and spread it out for as long as possible, but so far I don't see any indication that any party involved with this case has customer interests as a priority, instead further shady American institutions and middle men are trying to extract as much money as possible from the FTX corruption, as evidenced by the 100 million USD + legal fees the bankruptcy firm handling FTX charged recently:

https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/cryptocurrency/lawyers-land-700-million-bounty-from-crypto-collapse/articleshow/103409800.cms

FTX bankruptcy is already selling SOL. They have been liquidating assets for the past few months. However with SOL you need to realise that many of those are still locked and cant be sold yet. They have been selling ETH and BTC also. This is pubic record pretty much and if you follow the discussion on the bankruptcy you can see it there.

Yes they will dump almost all the SOL when its unlocked but I guess since the market is rallying it still doesn't really care it seems.
759  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to read the screenshots traders post. An example. on: November 12, 2023, 05:28:32 AM
Don’t pay attention to any of these screenshots that you see being posted all over twitter or Reddit or discord. Usually they are there to get you to join thru their affiliate where they get a portion of your trading fees.

Many post these screens shots and they can easily be photoshopped or they just have 2 accounts one for long and one for short and they post the winning trade. All they want to do is get you to either follow them or join thru their referral link so they can get some revenue that way.
760  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: So since SOL is $60 - Means FTX is solvent again? on: November 12, 2023, 05:25:16 AM
I forgot about that IRS claim. However why is it that claims are selling for 50 cents on the dollar recently, before SOL started to pump and before that Gensler comment that Ftx might reboot.

Those might be their liabilities but what are their assets? From Nov 2022 I remember they were like $7B in the hole and that’s why CZ refused to purchase the exchange because there was a big hole.
